Wild's Scandella Could Play Tuesday

News: Marco Scandella, who left Saturday's game against Colorado with an undisclosed issue, appears likely to play Tuesday against the Senators, Chad Graff of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Analysis: Though the report doesn't identify what sort of injury Marco Scandella is dealing with, it was relayed that he isn't dealing with any sort of structural damage. Scandella wasn't present for Monday's practice, but should take part in Tuesday's morning skate, after which the Wild will likely provide a ruling on his status for the game.

Willd's Scandella Hurt In Win

News: Marco Scandella left Saturday's win over Colorado in the second period due to an undisclosed injury and did not return, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: With the Wild already without Jared Spurgeon, Minnesota could be in the trade market for a defenseman at Monday's deadline if this injury is serious.

Wild's Scandella Able To Return

News: Marco Scandella was able to return to Friday's game against the Oilers after suffering an apparent leg injury in the first period, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: The Wild and fantasy owners will breathe a collective sigh of relief, as Marco Scandella's injury initially appeared to be serious. However, the 24-year-old defender is reportedly fine, and should be available when the Wild take on the Stars on Sunday.

Wild's Scandella Leaves With Injury

News: Marco Scandella was forced from Friday's contest against the Oilers with what appeared to be a leg injury, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: The injury occurred when Ryan Hamilton fell on Marco Scandella's leg in front of Minnesota's net. Scandella appeared to be in a lot of pain as he limped to the team's locker room. The team should update his status in the coming days.

Wild's Scandella Snaps Lengthy Point Drought

News: Marco Scandella fired eight shots on goal, but managed just an assist in Tuesday's win over Chicago. He also went plus-2.
Analysis: It was a good enough effort to earn him the game's second star, and it also snapped a 10-game point drought dating back to before his IR stint due to a head injury. The eight shots are also one more than Marco Scandella managed in the prior six games combined. Perhaps this is a sign that he's coming around and will start producing more consistently again.

Wild's Scandella (Head) To Play Saturday

News: Marco Scandella (head) will be activated from injured reserve and suit up for Saturday's game against the Coyotes.
Analysis: Marco Scandella had been skating on his own the last few days, but only resumed practicing with the rest of the team during Saturday's gameday skate. Though teams normally feel more comfortable having injured players practicing for multiple days before clearing them to play, Scandella didn't look to be limited during the session, participating fully in all drills. With the blueliner seemingly poised to log his usual 20-plus minutes of ice time Saturday, he's probably safe for fantasy owners to plug back into their lineups. Even after the injury setback, Scandella is still poised to blow past last season's total of 17 points, as he's already amassed nine goals and six assists over 34 contests.

Wild's Scandella (Head) Considered Close To Return

News: Marco Scandella (head) is considered close to returning to action, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: Marco Scandella resumed skating Monday and figures to get in a couple of practices over the next few days to prove his upper-body injury is no longer a concern. After Thursday's match in Buffalo, the Wild will have three more games for Scandella to try to prepare for before the All-Star break commences.

Wild Place Scandella On IR

News: Marco Scandella (head) has been placed on IR by the Wild, the team's official site reports.
Analysis: The move to place Marco Scandella -- who has missed four games with an upper-body injury -- on IR, was made retroactive to Jan. 6. Prior to being forced out of the Wild's lineup, Scandella had recorded nine goals and 15 points in 34 games.

Wild's Scandella (Head) Resumes Skating

News: Marco Scandella (head) resumed skating Monday.
Analysis: The blueliner is set to skate again Tuesday, but won't be a lineup option for the Wild's game later in the evening against the Penguins. It will be the fourth game in a row Marco Scandella will have missed due to the head injury, which has prevented him from practicing with the rest of the team. Since he's not traveling with the Wild on their road trip, expect Scandella to miss Thursday's game in Buffalo as well, with a more realistic shot at playing in Saturday's home tilt with the Coyotes.

Wild's Scandella (Head) To Miss Another

News: Coach Mike Yeo said after Saturday's loss to the Predators that Marco Scandella (head) wouldn't travel with the team to Chicago for Sunday's game, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: The Wild aren't expected to hold a practice Sunday morning, so there wouldn't have been an opportunity for the coaching staff to see Marco Scandella back on the ice. Scandella could join the Wild at some point later in their road trip.

Wild's Scandella (Head) Out Again Saturday

News: Marco Scandella (head) will not play Saturday against the Predators.
Analysis: Marco Scandella is being treated as day-to-day with his injury, but since he hasn't resumed practicing just yet with the team, he'll be forced to sit out a second straight match.

Wild's Scandella Reports Improvement

News: Marco Scandella (head) reported improvement with his condition Thursday, according to Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: Marco Scandella will be forced to miss Thursday's game against the Blackhawks, but it looks like the Wild are viewing him as day-to-day at this point. If he's able to get in a full practice Friday, Scandella will have a good chance at reclaiming a lineup spot Saturday versus the Predators.

Wild's Scandella (Head) Out Thursday

News: Marco Scandella (head) will miss Thursday's game against the Blackhawks.
Analysis: Marco Scandella was hit in head by the puck in the second period of Tuesday's game against Sharks, causing him to miss the third period and overtime. He will now miss at least Thursday's game because of the injury with Stu Bickel likely drawing into the lineup if Nate Prosser (illness) is unable to go. Scandella's next opportunity to return will come Saturday against the Predators.

Wild Lose Scandella To Head Injury

News: Marco Scandella missed the final period of Tuesday's overtime loss to the Sharks after getting hit in the head with a puck in the second period, the Associated Press reports.
Analysis: The Wild are already without Nate Prosser and Keith Ballard on the blue line and had to bring up Justin Falk as a reinforcement Tuesday, so they'd be forced to go into deep-scramble mode if Marco Scandella was forced to miss any further time.

Wild's Scandella Could Man Point on Power Play

News: Marco Scandella could replace Ryan Suter at the point on the Wild's power play, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Analysis: The Wild's power play has struggled this season and Suter is in a slump while Marco Scandella is thriving.

Wild's Scandella Adds To Point Streak

News: Marco Scandella tallied the game-winning goal, picked up two PIM and finished with a plus-3 rating in Monday's 3-2 victory over the Jets.
Analysis: Marco Scandella's tally capped a three-goal second period for the Wild, who dug themselves out of a 2-0 hole. Since returning from a two-game suspension two weeks earlier, Scandella has been one of the most valuable fantasy defensemen out there. He's notched an impressive four goals and two assists over his last six contests.

Three Goals In Four Games For Wild's Scandella

News: Marco Scandella scored a goal for the second straight game Tuesday, striking on his only shot on goal in a 5-2 loss to the Flyers.
Analysis: The tally -- Marco Scandella's third in the last four games to go with an assist -- was a big one at the time, as it drew the Wild within a 2-1 margin. Scandella now has a stunning eight goals to go with five assists on the year, so he's somewhat quietly been a very valuable fantasy blueliner. He's now more than doubled his career goal total in just 28 games this season.

Wild's Scandella Impresses In Loss

News: Marco Scandella impressed Saturday, scoring a power-play goal, adding an assist, blocking four shots, and dishing out three hits in a loss to Nashville.
Analysis: Marco Scandella has delivered of late, recording three goals and five points in his last eight games. The 24-year-old has been a fantasy gem this season, scoring a career-high seven goals and recording 12 points in 27 games. Averaging 22:01 of ice time, the blueliner has hit his stride in his fifth NHL season, potting three-game-winning goals, recording 55 shots on goal, and helping fantasy owners with 38 PIM. He's somebody you should be looking at right now. What a stud.

Wild's Scandella Returning Tuesday

News: Marco Scandella will return from a two-game suspension in Chicago on Tuesday.
Analysis: Jared Spurgeon is out with an illness, so the Wild need to have all hands on deck in order to avoid becoming too thinned out on the blue line.

Wild's Scandella Suspended Two Games

News: Marco Scandella has been suspended two games for his illegal check on the Islanders' Brock Nelson in Tuesday's game, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: Marco Scandella was fined but not suspended for an illegal check less than two weeks ago, but he did not avoid a suspension this time around. Scandal will sit out games Thursday and Saturday before returning to action next Tuesday against the Blackhawks.

Wild's Scandella Facing Possible Suspension

News: Marco Scandella will have a hearing with the NHL's Department of Player Safety on Thursday for his illegal check to the head of the Islanders' Brock Nelson on Tuesday, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: The Wild are already planning to recall Justin Falk from AHL Iowa in anticipation of Marco Scandella's absence. The blueliner narrowly avoided a suspension and was instead handed a fine for an illegal check to the head less than two weeks ago, but the league will probably look at his case with less sympathy this time around. Don't plan on having Scandella available for at least Thursday's game against the Sharks.

Wild Sign Scandella To Five-Year Extension

News: Marco Scandella agreed to a five-year, $20 million contract extension with the Wild on Saturday.
Analysis: Marco Scandella's deal will keep him in Minnesota through the 2019-20 season. Scandella has appeared in 184 games with the Wild and has tallied five goals, three assists, and 32 PIM in 20 games this season.

Wild's Scandella Scores Overtime Goal

News: Marco Scandella scored his fifth goal of the season, an overtime winner, in Friday's 5-4 victory over Dallas.

Wild's Scandella Grabs Two Points

News: Marco Scandella scored a goal for the second consecutive game and notched a power-play assist in Thursday's win over the Flyers.
Analysis: Marco Scandella's off to another slow start offensively this year -- a modest six points in 16 games -- but there's some promise here. Intriguingly, he's taken 33 shots -- about doubling his shots-per-game average from last year. And he's looked great since missing a couple games with an illness.

Wild's Scandella Nets Game-Winner

News: Marco Scandella scored the game-winning goal in overtime in Sunday's 4-3 win over the Jets.
Analysis: Returning from an illness, Marco Scandella was able to salvage a win in overtime after the team blew a 3-0 third-period lead. The goal was his third of the year, matching a career high that he should easily surpass. He logged 24:58 of ice time and could be worth consideration in leagues in which he's still available.
