Wild Activate Scandella

News: Marco Scandella was activated from injured reserve Monday.
Analysis: As expected, Marco Scandella will draw back into the lineup for Monday's game against the Flames with Clayton Stoner serving as the healthy scratch. Scandella's 16 points on the season are tied for second among the team's defensemen, while his plus-10 rating ranks second on the Wild.

Wild's Scandella Expected Back Monday

News: Marco Scandella (knee) was a full participant in Sunday's practice and could be activated from IR for Monday's game against the Flames, Chad Graff of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Analysis: Marco Scandella believes he's ready for a return to action, but the staff will likely see how he looks during Monday's morning skate before rendering a decision on his status. The defenseman has been out since Feb. 4 with a sprained knee.

Wild's Scandella Doubtful Friday

News: Marco Scandella (knee) is doubtful to return for Friday's game against the Canucks, Michael Russo of the Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: Marco Scandella was moved to IR recently to allow some roster flexibility. He has not been officially ruled out of Friday's game, but he is most likely not going to play.

Wild's Scandella Likely Out Thursday

News: Marco Scandella (knee) is not expected to play Thursday against the Oilers, Chad Graff of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Analysis: Marco Scandella was moved to injured reserve earlier in the day to facilitate the call-up of Stephane Veilleux, and after he was still a bit limited in Wednesday's practice, coach Mike Yeo will likely give him Thursday off. Yeo didn't rule him out for Friday's game against Canucks.

Wild Move Scandella To IR

News: Marco Scandella (sprained knee) was placed on injured reserve Wednesday.
Analysis: Though Marco Scandella seems to be progressing well and resumed practicing Tuesday, there's still a decent chance he might not be ready to go for Thursday's game against the Oilers. The Wild decided it was best to place him on injured reserve retroactively, opening the door for Stephane Veilleux to join the roster as insurance.

Scandella Practices With Wild

News: Marco Scandella, who sprained his MCL on Feb. 4, practiced Tuesday, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: Though Marco Scandella was able to take part in most of the team's drills Tuesday, he left the ice a little early, which clouds his status for Thursday's game against the Oilers. In reference to that contest, coach Mike Yeo indicated that a return Thursday is a "possibility" for Scandella, while adding that he "wouldn't say it's a probability."

News: Marco Scandella (knee) has been cleared to begin skating on his own, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: He'll probably be limited to working out with the Wild's strength and conditioning coach over the next handful of days, but could soon progress to joining his teammates at practices. Marco Scandella hasn't played since Feb. 4 against the Lightning.

Wild's Scandella Misses Wednesday's Practice

News: Marco Scandella (knee) did not practice Wednesday, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: Marco Scandella suffered a sprained MCL on Feb. 4. He could return after the break for the Olympics, but missing Wednesday's practice isn't a good sign.

Wild's Scandella Sprains Knee

News: Marco Scandella, who suffered a sprained knee Tuesday, is slated to miss about three weeks, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Analysis: Given the upcoming Olympic break, Marco Scandella might end up missing only Thursday night's game against Nashville, with the Wild's next contest after that scheduled for Feb. 27 against the Oilers.

Wild's Scandella Out Until After Break

News: Marco Scandella (knee) is expected to be out until after the Olympic break, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: As Russo mentions, it's actually good news that the injury isn't as bad as it first appeared. Marco Scandella's legs bent awkwardly after being hit Tuesday night against the Lightning, so the fear was that he could miss the rest of the season. The blueliner had three goals and 13 assists in 55 games before suffering the injury.

Wild's Scandella Leaves With Leg Injury

News: Marco Scandella exited Tuesday's game in the first period with an apparent left leg injury, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: The injury looked somewhat concerning for Marco Scandella, as his knees appeared to bend awkwardly when his legs were clipped by the Bolts' Tyler Johnson. The Wild figure to provide an update on his condition after the game.

Two Assists For Wild's Scandella

News: Marco Scandella picked up a pair of assists and went plus-3 in Tuesday's victory over Anaheim.
Analysis: The points snapped a four-game scoreless streak for the blueliner. Six of his 16 points on the season have come in January, but it's questionable whether that represents a real step forward or merely statistical noise. Despite the helpers, Marco Scandella skated just 17:09 in this one -- his lowest ice time in nearly a month.

Wild's Scandella Cleared To Play Thursday

News: Marco Scandella (lower-body soreness) will be in the lineup Thursday agsinst the Coyotes.
Analysis: It appears Marco Scandella's absence from Wednesday's practice was primarily for maintenance, as he didn't seem to be limited at all while skating with the team during Thursday's morning session. Scandella will likely join Nate Prosser on the Wild's second pairing Thursday.

Wild's Scandella Misses Practice

News: Marco Scandella (general soreness) missed practice Wednesday, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: Coach Mike Yeo didn't offer much specifics behind where or how Marco Scandella sustained the soreness, but he did seem to be in some pain while blocking a shot in Tuesday's game vs. the Kings. He'll try to get back on the ice Thursday morning before the team offers a declaration on his status for that night's game against the Coyotes.

Wild's Scandella Tallies Two Assists

News: Marco Scandella picked up two helpers versus the Sharks on Sunday.
Analysis: Marco Scandella doesn't play a ton of minutes, and he only has one goal and nine points in 29 games. There is not a ton of fantasy value here it would seem.

First Goal Of Season For Wild's Scadella

News: Marco Scandella scored his first goal of the season Thursday against Chicago, the game-winner late in the third period.
Analysis: Though Marco Scandella's had another very quiet season in the points department, he's --- equally quietly -- gone plus-10.

Wild's Scandella Posts Assist

News: Marco Scandella had an assist in Saturday's win over Carolina. "He's playing at the highest level that I've seen him play in all my time with him," head coach Mike Yeo told the St. Paul Pioneer Press. "And it's not just a matter of he's doing it from time to time shift to shift, it's the consistency that he's bringing. He's a very confident player right now, but what's great is you're seeing all of his tools come into play. You're seeing his skating ability, his range, his stick, his defensive ability."
Analysis: Marco Scandella has been playing well as he's been a negative in plus/minus rating just once in the 12 games since he was a healthy scratch in mid-October. However, he has just three points in 15 games, so he's not contributing much for fantasy purposes.

Wild's Scandella Gets On The Ice

News: Marco Scandella was on the ice for 14:40 and had a block in Tuesday's loss to Toronto. He had been a healthy scratch the previous three games.
Analysis: Marco Scandella isn't going to see consistent playing time as he's lower on the depth chart and may be a frequent healthy scratch.

Wild's Scandella Won't Play Thursday

News: Marco Scandella will be a healthy scratch for Thursday's game against Winnipeg, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: It's likely just a day off as the Wild rotate the bottom of their blue-line depth chart. Marco Scandella has started off minus-2 with no points in three games this season.

Scandella Signs 2-Yr Deal To Remain With Wild

News: Marco Scandella, a restricted free agent, signed a two-year deal worth $2.05 million to remain with the Wild, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: Marco Scandella will require waivers next season if he's not on the NHL roster, so this contract likely ensures he'll begin next season in Minnesota.

Scandella Scores In Minnesota Loss

News: Marco Scandella scored a goal on two shots Friday in Chicago.
Analysis: Marco Scandella tallied his first career playoff point in his second postseason appearance. He's not likely to score a lot in this series, netting only a single point in six games this season.

Wild Recall Scandella

News: The Wild have recalled Marco Scandella from AHL Houston, the Pioneer Press reports.

Wild's Scandella Reassigned To AHL

News: The Wild have reassigned Marco Scandella to the AHL's Houston Aeros.
