Habs' Tokarski Allows Two Goals In Loss

News: Dustin Tokarski gave up two goals on 18 shots in Friday's shootout loss to the Devils.
Analysis: Not the best night for the 25-year-old, who has stopped just 33 of 40 shots in his last two appearances (.825 save percentage). Carey Price is the starter in Montreal and with the Habs battling for a top playoff spot, it's unlikely Dustin Tokarski sees another start this season. He's one to watch in the coming years, though.

Habs' Tokarksi To Face Devils On Friday

News: Dustin Tokarski will start Friday's game against the Devils, Jessica Rusnak of TSN Radio 690 reports.
Analysis: Tokarksi has only started three games since mid-February, and with the Habs still fighting for the Atlantic Division title, this may be his last start of the season. Of course, it's also quite possible the team will have little to play for over the final few days, in which case Tokarksi could get another start or two.

Habs' Tokarski Smoked For Five Goals

News: Dustin Tokarski gave up five goals on just 22 shots Thursday in a loss to the Jets.
Analysis: Not a good spot-start showing for Dustin Tokarski, who failed to build on his 41-save outing against Florida from nine days earlier. He's now taken the loss in five of his last six starting opportunities, and with the Habs jockeying for playoff position, he may not see many more.

Habs Turn To Tokarski On Thursday

News: Dustin Tokarski will start Thursday's game against the Jets.
Analysis: Dustin Tokarski, who will give Tuesday's starter, Carey Price, a well-earned breather on Thursday, last saw action in the Habs' net on March 17, when he turned away 41 of 43 shots in a 3-2 win over the Panthers. He'll take aim Thursday at a Winnipeg squad that had its five-game win streak snapped by a 5-2 loss to the Canucks on Tuesday.

Habs' Tokarski Excels In Spot Start

News: Dustin Tokarski delivered an outstanding performance Tuesday, stopping 41 of 43 shots in a 3-2 win over the Panthers.
Analysis: It's his first win in exactly two months, dating back to Jan. 17, although Dustin Tokarski only drew four starts between those victories, going 0-2-2. After last year's playoff heroics, he was expected to be an outstanding backup to Carey Price this year, but instead, Tokarski has been merely serviceable outside of this game and a couple other impressive outings.

Habs' Tokarski Confirmed To Start Tuesday

News: Dustin Tokarski has been confirmed as the starter in goal for Tuesday's game against the Panthers, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
Analysis: The reeling Habs will rest No. 1 netminder Carey Price for the second half of a back-to-back set. Dustin Tokarski has been rather mediocre by backup standards with a 5-5-3 record, 2.71 GAA, and .913 save percentage on the season, but he might make for a decent streaming play against the Panthers, who rank 25th in the league in scoring.

Habs' Tokarski Could Give Price A Breather

News: Dustin Tokarski appears in line to start Tuesday's game against the Panthers, George Richards of the Miami Herald reports.
Analysis: Dustin Tokarski, who would be giving Monday's starter, Carey Price, a breather, last manned the Habs' net on March 5. Tokarski is winless in his last four turns, having allowed 13 goals in that span.

Habs' Tokarski On Losing End in SO

News: Tokarsi stopped 26 of 29 shots in Thursday night's 4-3 shootout loss to the Kings.
Analysis: Dustin Tokarski and the Canadiens survived a first-period onslaught, and after falling behind 2-0, he calmed things down, enabling the Habs to come back and nearly steal two points in regulation.

Canadiens' Tokarski To Start Thursday

News: Dustin Tokarski will be in net Thursday against Los Angeles, Dave Stubbs of the Montreal Gazette reports.
Analysis: Dustin Tokarski is making his first appearance in goal since Feb. 18 against Ottawa.

Habs' Tokarski Allows Three In Loss

News: Dustin Tokarski stopped 35 of the 38 shots he faced in Wednesday's 4-2 loss to the Senators.
Analysis: Dustin Tokarski played well, but was bombarded by shots all night, and couldn't pull out the win in the end. Considering that Carey Price has been phenomenal this season, it seems unlikely that Tokarski's workload will increase much moving forward.

Habs Going With Tokarski On Wednesday

News: Dustin Tokarski will reenter the crease for Wednesday's game against the Senators.
Analysis: Carey Price is rolling about as well as any goalie in the league right now, but he'll still require days off on back-to-backs in the second half. As a result, the Habs will save Price for Thursday's game against the Panthers, while Dustin Tokarski earns his second start in four games. Tokarski has a favorable matchup against a depleted Senators squad that could be down its top two goalies, but he fared poorly in a seemingly excellent situation last week against the Oilers, stopping 34 of 38 shots in an overtime loss.

Habs' Tokarski Drops Spot Start

News: Dustin Tokarski allowed four goals on 38 shots Thursday in an overtime loss to Edmonton.
Analysis: It wasn't an awful outing for Dustin Tokarski, considering he would have ended up with a solid save percentage if not for Anton Lander's overtime-ending goal. But it's still a disappointing outing against one of the worst teams in the league, and it won't inspire the Habs to give Carey Price that much rest in Tokarski's favor going forward.

Habs' Tokarski To Garner Start Thursday

News: Dustin Tokarski will receive the start in goal Thursday against the Oilers, Jack Michaels of the Oilers Radio Network reports.
Analysis: Due to Carey Price's surprisingly poor career numbers against Edmonton, coach Michel Therrien will give his lead goaltender a night off while Dustin Tokarski takes a turn. Tokarski has been used only sparingly this season, compiling a 5-4-1 record, 2.56 GAA, and .916 save percentage. Those numbers are rather serviceable for a backup goalie, and with the Oilers currently occupying last place in the Western Conference standings, Tokarski makes for a strong streaming option Thursday.

Habs' Tokarski Allows Three In Loss

News: Dustin Tokarski allowed three goals on 32 shots in Sunday's 3-2 loss to the Coyotes.
Analysis: With the loss, Dustin Tokarski's record is now 5-4-1 and holds a 2.56 GAA and .916 save percentage. He's been a serviceable backup to Carey Price, but won't see starts with any sort of regularity.

Habs' Tokarski In Net Sunday

News: Dustin Tokarski will indeed start between the pipes against the Coyotes on Sunday.
Analysis: Dustin Tokarski was the expected starter given the matinee matchup on back end of back-to-back games, and that is the case. His most recent outing came Jan. 17, in which he picked up the victory despite allowing four goals on 31 shots. He will look for a second consecutive victory in net Sunday as he looks to take advantage of one of his few starts in the cage behind all-star netminder Carey Price.

Habs' Tokarski Likely Starter Sunday

News: Dustin Tokarski is the likely starter for Sunday's matinee game against Phoenix, the Montreal Gazette reports.
Analysis: The Canadiens have back-to-back games at the Bell Centre this weekend beginning Saturday against Washington. Carey Price gets the start against the Capitals and we anticipate head coach Michel Therrien taking the usual course of getting Dustin Tokarski one of the starts in a back-to-back set.

Habs' Offense Leads Tokarski To Victory

News: Dustin Tokarski rode the coattails of his offense to victory Saturday against the Islanders, as he was beaten four times on 31 shot attempts.
Analysis: Dustin Tokarski has made the last two starts for the Canadiens in place of the ailing Carey Price, looking uninspiring on both occasions. He still retains relatively respectable ratios over his 10 appearances this season (2.50 GAA, .917 save percentage), which should make him a serviceable enough stopgap solution until Price returns to action. Price could be back as early as Tuesday's game against the Predators, though it seems more likely the Habs would just let their prized netminder rest through the All-Star break.

Canadiens' Tokarski To Start For Ailing Price

News: Tokarksi will receive the start in goal Saturday against the Islanders, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
Analysis: Regular netminder Carey Price is nursing an upper-body injury and will be unavailable Saturday, allowing Dustin Tokarski to pick up his first back-to-back starts of the season. The 25-year-old has produced a respectable 4-3-1 record, 2.33 GAA and .922 save percentage over nine appearances this season, but it doesn't look like he'll be in line for much more additional duty beyond Saturday. Coach Michel Therrien noted after the Canadiens' morning skate that Price's injury is not a major concern, and that he could be available as soon as Tuesday's game against the Predators.

Canadiens' Tokarski Likely To Start Saturday

News: Dustin Tokarski is likely to start Saturday against the Islanders, the Montreal Gazette reports.
Analysis: With Carey Price nursing an upper-body injury sustained Wednesday night in Columbus, Dustin Tokarski is in line for a second straight start. The Habs recalled Joey MacDonald from AHL Hamilton, which further suggests Price will be a no-go.

Habs' Tokarski Solid In Loss

News: Dustin Tokarski made 31 saves Thursday, but gave up three goals to end up with a loss in Ottawa.
Analysis: Making his first start since the calendar flipped to 2015, Dustin Tokarski was effective, but was easily outdueled by the Sens' Craig Anderson. He remains one of the stronger backups around, but Tokarski's opportunities are quite limited thanks to playing behind that Carey Price fellow.

Habs' Tokarski Earns Rare Start

News: Dustin Tokarski will draw the start in net Thursday against the Senators.
Analysis: It's just the ninth appearance of the season for the netminder, who has unsurprisingly played second fiddle to the stellar Carey Price this season. Dustin Tokarski has been quite good in his own right when called upon (4-2-1 record, 2.23 GAA, .924 save percentage), so those in leagues with daily roster moves looking for help in stabilizing ratios might want to pick up the goalie for Thursday's slate.

Tokarski, Habs Edge Panthers In Shootout

News: Dustin Tokarski turned in a dominant spot start Tuesday, making 36 saves and outdueling Panthers netminder Roberto Luongo in a 2-1 shootout victory.
Analysis: Despite the fact that he was making his first NHL start since Nov. 29 -- though he at least was sent down for a couple AHL starts in between -- Dustin Tokarski looked impressively sharp, reminiscent of his performance in last year's playoffs after Carey Price went down. However, he's been a bit inconsistent in his limited action, having allowed a total of four goals in his four wins, but 13 goals in his other four appearances (three starts).

Habs' Tokarski Gets Tuesday Start

News: Dustin Tokarski will be in the crease Tuesday versus the Panthers.
Analysis: With Carey Price making the turn Monday night versus the Hurricanes, Dustin Tokarski will be called upon to spell him for the second game of a back-to-back set. Tokarski hasn't logged an appearance for the Habs since Nov. 29, even heading out on an assignment to AHL Hamilton since that time in an attempt to pick up work. Tuesday's outing against a low-scoring Florida attack will present a good landing spot for Tokarski, but Price's track record of sound play won't create many future opportunities for it.

Habs Recall Tokarski From Minors

News: Dustin Tokarski was recalled from AHL Hamilton on Monday, TSN reports.
Analysis: Dustin Tokarski had just been assigned to Hamilton over the past weekend in an effort to see more ice time. Now that he's back with the Canadiens, he'll reprise his usual role as the lightly-used backup behind Carey Price.

Habs' Tokarski Backstops Hamilton Win

News: Dustin Tokarski stopped 29 of 31 shots in AHL Hamilton's win over Texas on Sunday.
Analysis: Sunday's game was the second start of the weekend for Dustin Tokarski, who was sent down to get some work in after a long stretch of inactivity with the parent club. He's expected to be recalled to Montreal in time for some back-to-backs over the holidays.
