Jets' Wright Out Indefinitely

News: Coach Paul Maurice said that James Wright is dealing with an ankle sprain and will be out indefinitely.
Analysis: With just two points in 59 games, James Wright isn't exactly an essential scorer for the Jets, so his absence will largely go unnoticed in the fantasy realm. Either Eric Tangradi or Anthony Peluso will gobble up most of his playing time.

Jets' Wright Exits With Lower-Body Injury

News: James Wright left Saturday's game against the Predators with a lower-body injury, Tim Campbell of the Winnipeg Free Press reports.
Analysis: The injury appeared to occur when James Wright was tangled up with the Preds' Seth Jones late in the second period. He'll be reevaluted by the Jets' medical staff after the game.

Jets' Wright Not Scoring

News: James Wright has two assists in 57 games at the Olympic break.
Analysis: The center rarely finds the score sheet, and really isn't an option outside the deepest of fantasy leagues.

Jets' Wright Out With Flu Tuesday

News: James Wright (flu) will not play Tuesday vs. the Sabres, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: With James Wright feeling under the weather, fresh call-up Eric O'Dell will enter the lineup in his place. Wright has just one point in 35 games on the Jets' unproductive fourth line.

Jets' Wright (Undisclosed) Returning Saturday

News: James Wright (undisclosed) will return to the ice for Saturday's game against the Flyers.
Analysis: James Wright, who only has two points in 29 games this season, will suit up for the first time since March 21.

Jets' Wright On IR

News: The Jets have placed James Wright (undisclosed injury) on IR, the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: The move frees us a roster spot for Tobias Enstrom, who will return to the Jets' lineup Sunday. James Wright has two points and 31 penalty minutes in 29 games to date.

Jets Claim Wright Off Waivers

News: The Jets claimed James Wright off waivers from Florida on Friday, TSN's Bob McKenzie reports.
Analysis: James Wright has been playing for AHL San Antonio this season, but his numbers aren't all that impressive. He has racked up just 17 points and a minus-3 rating in 40 games at center. Although Wright should be expected to spend this season in the AHL again, he could provide some depth at center if the Jets need it.

Wright And Panthers Agree To Two-Year Deal

News: James Wright signed a two- year deal with the Panthers on Tuesday, according to Harvey Fialkov of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.
Analysis: James Wright played in 54 games last year for the Panthers' AHL affiliate and recorded 28 points. Despite being only 22 years old Wright has played in 49 NHL games, and will provide the team with depth at center.

Panthers Trade For Wright

News: James Wright and Michael Vernace were traded to the Panthers on Friday in exchange for defencemen Mike Kostka and Evan Oberg.
Analysis: James Wright, 21, was rushed to the NHL as a teenager in 2009-10 where he played 48 games, scoring two goals and adding three assists. He's a big body who can play down the middle or on the left side.

Bolts Send Wright to AHL

News: Wright was sent to the AHL on Friday, the Lightning's official site reports.
Analysis: In 4:36 of action during Thursday's 8-7 win over the Flyers, Wright was unable to enjoy the party at the offensive end of the rink. Returning to Norfolk (AHL), Wright will see more regular minutes where he's chipped in 12 points through 15 games this season.

Lightning Recall Wright

News: The Lightning recalled Wright from AHL Norfolk on Thursday, the Tampa Tribune reports.
Analysis: Wright will be up with the Bolts while Mattia Ritola serves his two-game suspension. He played 48 games with Tampa Bay as a 19-year-old last season, recording two goals and three assists.

Lightning send Wright to WHL

News: The Lightning have assigned C James Wright to the WHL.
Analysis: Tampa Bay took a shot with keeping Wright around instead of sending him back to junior hockey, and the experiment didn't work. The move means the first year of Wright's entry-level contract kicks in, but not much else. Continue to ignore the rookie disappointment in all formats.

Wright plays less than 10 minutes

News: Lightning C James Wright failed to record a point in 8:53 of ice time on Wednesday against the Bruins. He has one goal and three points in his last 14 games.
Analysis: The Lightning made the bold move of keeping Wright on the roster this season instead of sending him back to his junior team. He is getting valuable NHL experience, however, his numbers aren't appetizing to Fantasy owners. Wright remains just a long-term Fantasy keeper.

James Wright, C, WPG Wright likely staying with Tampa

James Wright

Wright likely staying with Tampa

News: The Sports Xchange reports Lightning rookie forward James Wright played his ninth game of the season on Saturday against the Sabres, meaning the team has to decide by Thursday whether to retain the 19-year-old or send him back to his junior team. If Wright plays against Ottawa, his entry-level contract would officially begin starting this season. Should the team opt to return him, the contract would begin next season.
Analysis: Based on Wright's play, and the fact he's played the past two games on the top line, he looks to be staying around. "He hasn't done anything for him not to be on the team," Lightning coach Rick Tocchet said. Wright appears to be doing well making the jump from junior hockey to the NHL. However, he is still a developing player and likely won't be an offensive standout in 2009-10. He remains a low-end Fantasy reserve and long-term keeper.

James Wright

Wright scores first NHL goal

News: Lightning C James Wright scored his first NHL goal in Thursday's win over the Sharks.
Analysis: As expected, Wright played alongside Vincent Lecavalier and Martin St. Louis on Tampa Bay's top line on Thursday, as the rookie racked up 15 minutes of ice time. He didn't feature much on the power play though, which limits his value a little, but any guy playing alongside those two should be watched closely in deeper leagues.

James Wright

Wright to play on Lightning's top line

News: The St. Pete Times reports that Lightning rookie C James Wright is expected to play on a line with C Vinny Lecavalier and RW Marty St. Louis on Thursday.
Analysis: Wright jumped straight from the WHL to the NHL this season. A fourth-round pick in 2008, Wright wasn't much of an offensive force in the juniors and shouldn't be jumped on just yet in Fantasy play.
