Isles' de Haan (Shoulder) Sits Out Saturday

News: De Haan (shoulder) was unable to take the ice in Game 6 against the Capitals on Saturday.
Analysis: De Haan was considered questionable heading into Game 6 and ultimately stayed off the ice as a result of his current shoulder injury. His next opportunity to skate will be in Game 7 on Monday.

Isles' De Haan Questionable For Game 6

News: De Haan (shoulder) is questionable for Saturday's Game 6 versus the Capitals, Newsday's Arthur Staple reports.
Analysis: It won't be a huge loss if Calvin de Haan isn't able to suit up on Saturday, as he's often been a healthy scratch for the Islanders throughout the 2014-2015 campaign. The team will confirm his status prior to puck drop on Saturday. If de Haan is unable to go, look for Ryan Pulock to assume his spot in the lineup.

Isles' De Haan Suffers Undisclosed Injury

News: De Haan suffered an undisclosed injury in the third period of Thursday's Game 5 against the Capitals, Newsday reports.
Analysis: De Haan's status for Saturday's game appears to be up in the air at this point, but his progress over the next couple days should be a good indicator. If he can't go, the Islanders have multiple options to turn to along the blue line.

Isles' De Haan Sits Out Saturday Once Again

News: De Haan was a healthy scratch Saturday for the second time in the last four games, according to Newsday.
Analysis: To the dismay of many Islanders fans coach Jack Capuano keeps insisting on getting Brian Strait into games. This has forced either Lubomir Visnovsky or De Haan to be a healthy scratch when everyone else is able to play. Capuano may be trying to ignite the Islanders who are slumping badly but the problem has been with the offense, not the defense. Perhaps he shouldn't fix what isn't broken.

Isles' De Haan Will Play Tuesday

News: De Haan will draw back into the lineup Tuesday versus the Wild, according to Newsday's Arthur Staple.
Analysis: Coach Jack Capuano has been rotating his bottom four defensemen in and out of the lineup of late, possibly to keep them fresh, or maybe even to find out the best combination come playoff time.

Isles' De Haan To Serve As Scratch Saturday

News: De Haan will be a healthy scratch for Saturday's game against the Devils.
Analysis: The return of Nick Leddy (lower body) will result in Calvin de Haan getting caught up in a numbers game, as was often the case in February. While de Haan will sit Saturday, there's still a good chance he'll be able to eventually displace Brian Strait or Matt Donovan on the Isles' third pairing, as he probably presents more offensive upside than either player.

Isles' de Haan Returns To Lineup

News: De Haan returned to the Islanders lineup Saturday versus the Capitals.
Analysis: De Haan had been a healthy scratch for Thursday's win over Nashville, as coach Jack Capuano has been rotating his last defensive spot between Calvin de Haan and Lubomir Visnovsky of late. Capuano has already stated that Visnovsky will play Sunday versus the Canucks, which could lead to another game on the bench for de Haan or possibly another Islanders defender.

Isles' de Haan A Healthy Scratch Thursday

News: Calvin de Haan is not in the lineup Thursday versus the Predators, according to Newsday's Arthur Staple.
Analysis: It seems that coach Jack Capuano will keep insisting that Brian Strait play even though most scouts and hockey people will tell you he's nothing more than a guy you plug in the lineup when you have an emergency. Calvin de Haan is the victim tonight, much like Lubomir Visnovsky was Tuesday.

Isles' de Haan Back Tuesday

News: Calvin de Haan will return for the Islanders as they take on Carolina on Tuesday, according to the Islanders web site.
Analysis: Calvin de Haan had missed several games after taking a skate blade to the face and needing to be stitched up. He was actually ready to play several games ago but the Isles didn't want to change up what had been a winning lineup.

Isles' De Haan Healthy, But Will Continue To Sit

News: De Haan (face) participated in the Isles' optional skate Saturday, but will not play later in the evening against the Blue Jackets.
Analysis: De Haan seems to be fully healthy at this point, but coach Jack Capuano indicated he didn't want to change his lineup with the Isles entering play Saturday on a three-game winning streak. The young blueliner should at least benefit from the additional rest and figures to swap in for Brian Strait at some point in the near future.

Isles' De Haan Sits Again

News: De Haan (face) won't play Thursday against Toronto, according to Newsday's Arthur Staple.
Analysis: Coach Jack Capuano indicated that Calvin de Haan "could probably play" Thursday, but the Isles plan to stick with same six blueliners that they rolled out Tuesday against the Oilers.

Islanders' De Haan Still Out Tuesday

News: De Haan (face) will not play Tuesday against the Oilers.
Analysis: De Haan skated with the Isles on Tuesday morning, but the team will stick with the lineup that earned the win on Sunday against Buffalo. Coach Jack Capuano described De Haan's injury as only "bumps and bruises," so there's a decent chance he'll be available for Thursday's showdown with the Maple Leafs.

Isles' De Haan Out Sunday

News: De Haan (undisclosed) will miss Sunday's game against the Sabres.
Analysis: De Haan's injury originated Saturday, as he left during the third period and did not return. He won't return to the ice Sunday, as Lubomir Visnovsky will draw into the lineup in his place. The blueliner's next chance to return will come Tuesday against the Oilers.

Isles' De Haan Leaves Game, Does Not Return

News: De Haan retreated to the dressing room in the third period of Saturday's game after absorbing a hard hit along the boards.
Analysis: Replays seem to indicate he may have been cut on the face. Let's hope it's not serious.

Isles' De Haan Picks Up Assist

News: De Haan picked up an assist in Tuesday's win over the Rangers.
Analysis: Things appear to be trending in the right direction for the former first-rounder, who has been generally productive over the last two-plus weeks. He's notched a goal, four assists and has gone plus-4 over his last eight games.

Isles' De Haan Finally Finds Twine

News: Playing in his 32nd game of the season, Calvin de Haan finally found twine for the first time Monday against Washington, scoring shorthanded.
Analysis: A magical moment for Calvin de Haan, but the goal came on his only shot of the game, and he's put all of two pucks on net over the last three. With only seven points spread over 32 games on the year, the 23-year-old's short-term upside remains limited, but keeper-league owners shouldn't be so quick to forget all the offense he put up from the blue line in juniors.

Isles' de Haan Adds Assist In Loss To Wild

News: De Haan assisted on one of the Islanders' four goals in Tuesday's 5-4 loss to the Wild.
Analysis: Despite the Islanders blowing a three-goal lead, Calvin de Haan notched his first point since Nov. 29 against the Devils. The 23-year-old defenseman has not been much of an offensive threat for the Islanders this season, scoring no goals to go along with five assists in 24 games played.

Isles' De Haan Returns To Practice Tuesday

News: De Haan (illness) returned to practice Tuesday, according to Newsday's Arthur Staple.
Analysis: De Haan missed Monday's game but is expected to play Wednesday against the Capitals. The blueliner doesn't get much power-play time these days now that Johnny Boychuk and Nick Leddy are around, limiting his offensive upside.

Islanders' De Haan (Illness) Out Monday

News: De Haan is dealing with an undisclosed illness and will not play Monday against the Flyers.
Analysis: The 23-year-old is day-to-day with the ailment, which is apparently also afflicting fellow blueliner Thomas Hickey. His next opportunity to get on the ice will come against the Capitals on Wednesday.

Isles' de Haan Tallies Assist

News: De Haan assisted on one of five Islanders goals in Tuesday's win over the Lightning.
Analysis: With just three points in 15 games, De Haan hasn't generated much excitement this season for fantasy owners. It was expected that he would enter this season as one of the Islanders' better offensive contributors from the blue line, but the late additions of Nick Leddy and Johnny Boychuk in training camp has minimized his role.

Islanders Activate de Haan

News: De Haan (upper body) was activated from injured reserve Thursday, Arthur Staple of Newsday reports.
Analysis: Though he suited up regularly next to Travis Hamonic last season, it appears Calvin de Haan will return to the lineup on the Islanders' third pairing with Brian Strait. The additions of Nick Leddy and Johnny Boychuk late in training camp may prevent de Haan from topping 20 minutes of ice time most nights or enjoying a regular spot on the power play, much to the detriment of his offensive production. Griffin Reinhart was reassigned to AHL Bridgeport to make room for de Haan on the 23-man roster.

Isles De Haan Could Return Thursday

News: De Haan (upper body) could return to the Islanders lineup Thursday, according to Newsday.
Analysis: De Haan has been out since the middle of training camp due to the injury but has practiced for consecutive days and should either return Thursday versus San Jose or Saturday against Pittsburgh.

Isles' De Haan Could Be Back Thursday

News: De Haan (upper body) has not yet been cleared by doctors, but the Isles are hoping he'll be ready to go by Thursday, the New York Post reports.
Analysis: The 23-year-old has opened the year on injured reserve, but should return to a major role on the Isles' blue line when he's ready to go. For his part, Calvin de Haan told the Post he feels like he's ready to play.

Isles' Place De Haan On IR

News: De Haan (upper body) was placed on IR on Monday, according to Newsday.
Analysis: While the injury isn't expected to keep Calvin de Haan out of the lineup for more than a week or two, the Isles defense has suddenly gotten much more crowded with the addition of Nick Leddy and Johnny Boychuk over the weekend. While de Haan should have a job waiting for him when healthy, he will have to show the team night in and night out that he deserves to be here.

Isles' De Haan Now In Danger Of Missing Opener

News: De Haan (upper body) could miss Opening Night on Oct. 10, according to Newsday.
Analysis: De Haan hasn't suffered a setback but the injury has just been very slow to heal. He is skating with the team but will wear a non-contact jersey for the immediate future.
