Montreal's Bennett Ticketed For Hamilton

News: Mac Bennett, who is participating in Montreal's development camp, is expected to play for Hamilton of the American Hockey League this season, the Montreal Gazette reports.

Habs' Bennett Will Rehab Shoulder

News: Mac Bennett, who recently signed with the Canadiens out of college, will rehab his shoulder and get himself ready for training camp in September instead of joining the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League, the Montreal Gazette reports.
Analysis: Mac Bennett had missed three weeks while at the University of Michigan due to a separated shoulder before returning for the final three games. Normally, college players signing with the team that drafted them will get taste of pro hockey in the AHL, but a decision has been made to allow Bennett to heal the shoulder fully before engaging competition.

Habs Ink Prospect Bennett To Entry-Level Deal

News: Mac Bennett (upper body) signed a two-year, entry-level contract with the Canadiens on Wednesday.
Analysis: Mac Bennett suffered an upper-body injury earlier this month, but it doesn't look as though it's much of a concern any longer for the Canadiens. The 23-year-old served as the captain for the University of Michigan this season, recording 14 points in 31 games. He was selected by the Habs in the third round of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.

Canadiens' Bennett Week-To-Week

News: Mac Bennett suffered an upper-body injury in a game against Penn State last week and is listed as week-to-week for Michigan, the Montreal Gazette reports.
Analysis: Mac Bennett was selected by Montreal in the third round (79th overall) of the 2009 draft and then elected to play four years at the University of Michigan, where he was the Wolverines' captain this past season. Given the current injury, it looks like his collegiate career may be over and the next step will be to join the pros. He has an offensive mind on the blue line, but will need to advance his skills in his own end if he wants to make it in the NHL.

Montreal's Prospect Bennett In Tourney

News: Mac Bennett will be participating in the NCAA Hockey tournament this weekend for the University of Michigan, the Montreal Gazette reports.
Analysis: Mac Bennett had four goals and 16 assists in 40 games for the Wolverines this past season, his sophomore year. He's undersized for a defenseman at 5-11, 185 pounds, but has shown an ability to handle himself during several development camps.
