Button Not Returning To Dallas

News: Ryan Button has not received a qualifying offer from the Stars and will thus become a free agent on Tuesday.
Analysis: Ryan Button came to Dallas in the Tyler Seguin trade, but failed to work his way onto the NHL roster with a crowded, talented blue line developing in Dallas. He had just three points (all goals) in 26 games for AHL Texas last year, though he did produce 23 points in 33 games for Idaho of the ECHL.

B's Ship Prospect Button To Stars In Seven-Player Deal

News: Ryan Button was traded to the Stars on Thursday as part of a seven-player deal that saw Tyler Seguin and Loui Eriksson switch teams, TSN's Darren Dreger reports.
Analysis: Ryan Button, the 86th overall pick in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, was just a throw-in to the deal and doesn't look to be a fantasy commodity worth charting for the future. The 21-year-old defenseman skated in 25 games for AHL Providence last season, accruing zero points and a minus-2 rating.

Bruins Sign Button

News: The Bruins have signed Button to an entry-level contract, the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Button, who skated with AHL Providence late in the season on an Amateur Tryout Agreement, appeared in seven games with the Baby B's, recording one assist. Button, who will most likely start the 2011-12 season back in Providence, is a puck-moving blueliner who adds depth to the organization's already solid backline corps. At at 6-0, 185 pounds, he may need to bulk up some to cut it at the NHL level, however.

Bruins Sign Button

News: Button has signed an amateur tryout agreement with AHL Providence, the Boston Globe reports.
Analysis: Button, the Bruins' third-round pick in 2009, split 2010-11 season between WHL Prince Albert and Seattle, recording five goals and 30 assists in 69 games. Though Button, a puck-moving defenseman, could return to the WHL next season as an overage player, he will most likely start the 2011-12 season in Providence.

Bruins make cuts from camp

News: The Boston Globe reports that the Bruins trimmed their training camp roster significantly on Sunday. G Adam Courchaine, G Matt Dalton, RW Jordan Knackstedt, LW Matt Marquardt, D Scott Fletcher and D Rob Kwiet were returned to the AHL. D Alain Goulet and LW Lane MacDermid, both of whom remain unsigned draft picks, for now will skate solely with the AHL roster. Finally, D Ryan Button, RW Jordan Caron, G Michael Hutchinson, and RW Tyler Randell, were returned to their junior clubs.
Analysis: None of these players have any Fantasy value at this time, so continue to ignore them in all formats.
