Jets' Kane Chips In Two Points

News: Evander Kane scored on a power play and added an even-strength assist Tuesday in a 5-1 win over Buffalo.
Analysis: He'd gone three straight without registering on the scoresheet, hitting a particularly low low Saturday, when he didn't put a shot on goal and went minus-3 in a loss to Anaheim, but Evander Kane and the Jets bounced back nicely in this one. However, his offensive output remains disappointing -- the No. 4 pick from 2009's draft has only 12 points in 22 games, a pace that lags well behind his production from the last few seasons, and he's had trouble staying healthy too.

Jets' Kane Returns From Suspension

News: Evander Kane recorded seven hits, but no shots in Saturday's return from suspension. He was also minus-2 in a 4-1 loss to the Ducks.
Analysis: He's on pace for his worst full-season production since his rookie season in Atlanta (excluding the lockout year, of course). This forgetable season just keeps getting worse, but who knows -- maybe this last suspension might bring him some perspective. OK -- that is delusional, isn't it? He needs to be benched until he figures this out.

Suspension Over For Jets' Kane

News: Evander Kane has completed his two-game suspension and will be eligible to play Saturday against the Ducks.
Analysis: Evander Kane received the two-game ban for boarding the Ducks' Clayton Stoner last Sunday. The 23-year-old has four goals, 10 points and 44 PIM over 20 games on the season.

Jets' Kane Suspended Two Games

News: The NHL Department of Player Safety has suspended Evander Kane for two games for boarding Ducks defenseman Clayton Stoner.
Analysis: Evander Kane is not a repeat offender, but the distance he travelled to hit Stoner, and the fact that Stoner was turned around the entire time earned Kane the two games. He'll be eligible to return for Saturday's game when the Jets take on the Ducks again.

Kane Pots Two Power-Play Goals For Jets

News: Evander Kane scored two power-play goals -- one into an empty net -- and collected two PIM in Tuesday's win over the Jackets.
Analysis: While it's been a quiet start to the year for Evander Kane, he's been warming up a little lately, having notched five points in his last six games now.

Jets' Kane Pots Goal In Loss

News: Evander Kane added his second goal of the year in Sunday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Wild.
Analysis: Evander Kane has gotten off to a slow start in the points department, but he now has two in the past two days. The goals should start to come, as he's shooting at just a 5.5 percent clip, well below his career average.

Jets' Kane Goes Gordie Howe

News: Evander Kane scored his first goal of the year -- and the 100th of his career -- while adding an assist and seven PIM in Thursday's shootout loss to the Penguins.
Analysis: That's a Gordie Howe hat trick for Evander Kane, who fired up the crowd in Winnipeg by beating down the Pens' Simon Despres, but it wasn't enough in the end. With three points in the last two games, Kane is starting to turn things on after going scoreless in his first four contests since returning from the knee injury that kept him out to start the year.

Jets' Kane Nets Winner In Shootout

News: Evander Kane scored the game-winning goal in the shootout in a 1-0 win over the Rangers on Saturday night.
Analysis: It was a beauty of a shot that went high blocker and in. Henrik Lundqvist got a bit of it, but it was moving too fast. The Jets need him to start putting up points and this is a nice start.

Jets' Kane Quiet In Return

News: Evander Kane (knee) contributed no points and attempted three shots in his return to action Thursday against the Devils.
Analysis: It was probably unrealistic for Evander Kane to deliver immediately upon returning from an injury that knocked him out of action for two weeks, and the Jets were likely just happy that the forward made it through the contest without any setbacks. He saw 17:07 worth of ice time while skating on the second line with Blake Wheeler and Mark Scheifele.

Jets' Kane To Return Thursday

News: Evander Kane (knee) has been activated from injured reserve and will suit up for Thursday's game against the Devils.
Analysis: Evander Kane has been sidelined since injuring his knee in the season opener, but he is set to return to action after making it through Thursday's morning skate without issue. Look for him to immediately rejoin Mark Scheifele and Blake Wheeler on the Jets' second line.

Jets' Kane Making Positive Progress

News: Coach Paul Maurice said Evander Kane (knee) is progressing well and could begin skating before the end of the week, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: The Jets likely won't have a definitive timetable on Evander Kane until after he starts taking part in practices in some capacity, but an early- to mid-November return would seem realistic at this time. The winger was set to play a vital role for the Jets on the second line to open the season, before he suffered the knee injury after just 1:24 of action in the team's first game.

Jets Shift Kane (Knee) To Injured Reserve

News: Evander Kane (knee) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday.
Analysis: With Evander Kane probably at least three weeks away from returning to game action, the Jets didn't want to get by with only 22 players until he was deemed ready to go. Look for the team to call up a forward from AHL St. John's prior to their next game, scheduled for Friday against the Predators.

Jets' Kane (Knee) To Miss Two Weeks

News: Coach Paul Maurice said Saturday that Evander Kane (knee) would be reevaluated after two weeks, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: The Jets were bracing for the worst after Evander Kane took the brunt of a nasty collision with linemate Mark Scheifele in Thursday's opener, but Maurice sounded relieved by the prognosis. Even if he's cleared to resume skating in two weeks, Kane will probably need to get at least a couple of practices in before he returns to the lineup, so in total, it could be three weeks before he appears in a game, at minimum. The Jets will move Dustin Byfuglien from the third-line right wing spot to Kane's left-wing spot on the second line in the interim.

Jets' Kane (Knee) Could Miss More Than A Few Days

News: Coach Paul Maurice said he wouldn't consider Evander Kane (knee) day-to-day at this point, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: While the extent of Evander Kane's injury remains unknown, the fact that Maurice states he "wouldn't list him as day-to-day" is a pretty good indication he may miss extended time due to the injury. He has been ruled out for both of the weekend's games, while Matt Halischuk is expected to join the lineup in Kane's absence.

Jets' Kane Suffers Apparent Knee Injury

News: Evander Kane suffered an apparent knee injury in Thursday's opener and there is concern over the severity, Bob McKenzie of TSN reports.
Analysis: Although the team hasn't released an update on Evander Kane's official injury or severity, the indication seems to be that it might not be minor. He will likely undergo testing of some sort in the near future, and the team should provide an update on the issue.

Jets' Kane Suffers Lower-Body Injury

News: Evander Kane suffered a lower-body injury in Thursday's game and will not return.
Analysis: It's a tough start for Evander Kane, who briefly returned to the ice before heading to the dressing room for good. The young winger should be considered day-to-day for now until the team releases more details on the nature of his injury.

Jets' Kane Tallies Two Points In Preseason Win

News: Evander Kane recorded a goal and an assist to go with a plus-2 rating in Saturday's preseason win over Calgary.
Analysis: The Jets' top line of Evander Kane, Mark Scheifele and Blake Wheeler combined for four points on Saturday, helping the team finish the preseason with a 3-4-0 record. Kane, who produced a somewhat disappointing 19 goals and 41 points in 2013-14, has a prime opportunity to boost his offensive totals in 2014-15. His linemate Scheifele is on the rise and Kane is sure to get plenty of ice time on the top line and top power-play unit. The potential is there for Kane to break through and hit 60 points in 2014-15.

Jets' Kane Sits Out Monday's Preseason Contest

News: Though he was generally expected to play in Monday's exhibition against the Oilers, Evander Kane ended up sitting out the contest.
Analysis: It's not believed that Evander Kane is dealing with any sort of injury, so perhaps the Jets just decided the winger could use a little more rest in advance of the regular season. He'll likely return to preseason action Tuesday and for the games thereafter, which should afford the coaching staff plenty of time to determine where he fits best. He's expected to receive an audition with Mark Scheifele and Blake Wheeler on the top line, a combination that could help Kane unlock the 60-point potential that exists within him.

Jets' Kane Ends Goalless Skid

News: Evander Kane snapped an eight-game goalless streak with his 18th of the year in Thursday's shootout win over Boston.
Analysis: Evander Kane's goal was all the offense that Winnipeg could muster in regulation. Over the course of his eight games without a goal, Kane went minus-5 with four assists.

Jets' Kane To Play Monday

News: Evander Kane, who was a healthy scratch Saturday, will play on the left wing against Minnesota on Monday, reports the Winnipeg Sun's Ken Wiebe.
Analysis: It's not clear what line Evander Kane will play on or how much ice time he'll get, but it's good news for his fantasy owners that he'll be back in regardless. Heading into the final week of the season, owners can only hope he finishes on a good note this year.

Jets' Kane Expected To Play Monday

News: Evander Kane, who was a healthy scratch Saturday, expects to play Monday against the Wild, TSN.ca reports.
Analysis: Evander Kane, who has recorded assists in three of his last four games, checks back into the Winnipeg lineup with 17 goals and 39 points in 60 games to date.

Jets' Kane Out Saturday

News: Evander Kane is a healthy scratch for Saturday's game, Terry Koshan of the Toronto Sun reports.
Analysis: Evander Kane's been a bit disappointing this season and hasn't scored a goal since March 19, but he'll likely rejoin the lineup before the campaign ends. The reasons for his scratch are unclear, and while there's been no shortage of rumors, nothing looks particularly solid. Kane did register a minus-2 rating in two of his past three games, but there's little question that the Jets are a better team with their 22-year-old franchise centerpiece in the lineup.

Jets' Kane A Likely Healthy Scratch Saturday

News: Evander Kane will likely be a healthy scratch Saturday against the Maple Leafs, Sportsnet.ca reports.
Analysis: Evander Kane stayed on the ice after Saturday's morning skate, indicating that he won't dress for the game. He's been disappointing this season, and perhaps has a bit of a rocky relationship with the organization, but this still comes as a major surprise. Trade rumors may run rampant in the offseason.

Jets' Kane Grabs Assist In Loss

News: Evander Kane assisted on the Jets' first goal of the game in a 4-2 loss to the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday.
Analysis: Evander Kane will finish the month of March with two goals and three assists. He probably hasn't produced as much as fantasy owners had hoped when they drafted him, but at least he's currently producing regularly.

Jets' Kane Streaking

News: Evander Kane scored his 17th goal of the season in Wednesday's 5-4 win over the Avalanche.
Analysis: Evander Kane now has points in three straight games. He's going to have to be on his game to help the Jets make the playoffs and fantasy owners can only hope he continues to cash in.
