Devils Option Urbom To AHL

News: Alexander Urbom was sent to Albany (AHL) Thursday, the Bergen Record reports.
Analysis: Alexander Urbom played five games over the last two weeks for New Jersey, posting one goal and finishing a plus-2. Urbom played solidly, but, with Henrik Tallinder returning from a back injury, the coaching staff wants Urbom to get playing time in the minors.

Devils' Urbom Scores First Goal

News: Alexander Urbom netted his first NHL goal in Friday's shootout win over Washington, his first point of the season as well.
Analysis: Alexander Urbom showed a good amount of poise on his goal, pinching in at the right time and waiting out a sprawling Michael Neuvirth. Urbom is a talented, but young, player on whom the Devils are high. Urbom's talent and production have not yet caught up with his potential.

Devils' Urbom Out Again Saturday

News: Alexander Urbom will be out of the lineup Saturday against Montreal according to the Bergen Record's Tom Gulitti's Twitter feed.
Analysis: Alexander Urbom returned to action briefly Friday, playing 14:22 in the win over Dallas finishing with an even rating and two hits. Urbom has been a healthy scratch for two of the last three games.

Urbom Out For Devils

News: Alexander Urbom will be a healthy scratch Tuesday against Florida, the Bergen Record's Tom Gulitti reports.
Analysis: With the Devils acquiring Kurtis Foster from Anaheim on Monday, Alexander Urbom finds himself the odd man out after playing two games following his NHL call-up. Urbom doesn't offer much offensively at this point of his career, but is high on the Devils' prospect list.

Urbom Makes Season Debut For Devils

News: Alexander Urbom played 14:52 in Saturday's loss to Montreal, finishing a plus-1 with one blocked shot.
Analysis: Alexander Urbom didn't receive too many looks from the coaches during training camp, but impressed when he did. He, along with Matt Taormina, were called up from Albany (AHL) on Friday as the Devils are dealing with injuries to Andy Greene (broken foot) and Anton Volchenkov (broken hand). With those two out of the lineup, Urbom should see regular ice time and is one of New Jersey's more promising defensive prospects.

Urbom Recalled By Devils

News: Alexander Urbom was recalled from Albany (AHL) Friday and practiced with the Devils, the Bergen Record's Tom Gulitti reports.
Analysis: Alexander Urbom was one of two defenders recalled with the news that Andy Greene (broken toe) will be out six weeks. Urbom is one of the team's more promising defenders in the farm system and impressed during his limited opportunities in training camp.

Devils Assign Urbom To AHL Albany

News: The Devils sent Alexander Urbom to AHL Albany on Tuesday, Tom Gulitti of the Bergen Record reports.
Analysis: Sending Alexander Urbom down indicates that Andy Greene (soreness) will be on the ice when the Devils return to action Wednesday. Urbom will garner consideration next time the Devils need to add a defender to the roster.

Devils Recall Urbom

News: The Devils recalled Alexander Urbom, Katie Strang of ESPN reports.
Analysis: Alexander Urbom was sent back to the AHL almost two months ago, but made his way back onto the Devils' roster. Urbom impressed late in training camp but could not win the favor of the coaches. He is a talented young player and the Devils want to give him a run in the NHL.

Urbom Sent To AHL

News: Alexander Urbom has been sent to the AHL, Katie Strang of ESPN reports.
Analysis: With a crowded competition for the final blue-line spot in New Jersey, Alexander Urbom was a long shot to stick out of training camp anyway.

Urbom Solid For Devils

News: Alexander Urbom played well in his only preseason appearance, according to the Bergen Record's Tom Gulitti. It's likely Urbom will start the season in the AHL.
Analysis: Alexander Urbom hadn't been in a preseason game before Friday's victory over the Islanders, but despite strong play, will, in all likelihood, start the season at Albany (AHL). Urbom never was able to draw the favor of coach Peter DeBoer but remains one of the team's top defensive prospects. He's 6-5 and can hit, while his mobility is improving. He has more upside than Bryce Salvador, Mark Fraser and Mark Fayne and should be a call-up at some point during the season.

Devils Likely To Demote Urbom

News: Alexander Urbom hasn't seen much action this preseason and new coach Peter DeBoer wants to limit the number of defenders competing for the starting spots, according to the Bergen Record's Tom Gulitti.
Analysis: Alexander Urbom is simply at the bottom of the pecking order when it comes to battling for the team's last defender. Several other players such as Adam Larsson, Matt Taormina, Anton Stralman, Mark Fayne and Mark Fraser are in the mix. Urbom played several NHL games last season, starting the year with the club, and the team is still on high the powerful Swede. Look for Urbom to see some time in the NHL if the Devils suffer an injury or two on the blue line, but all signs point to Urbom beginning the year in Albany (AHL).

Urbom Scores First NHL Goal For Devils

News: Urbom scored his first NHL goal in Sunday's 3-2 win over Boston.
Analysis: Urbom took 19 shifts and had 16:28 of ice time Sunday. The point was the young defenseman's first in eight games with the Devils. The Devils like his size, and he could end up vying for a roster spot in training camp next season.

Urbom Called Up By Devils

News: Urbom will play in Sunday's season finale for the Devils, the Bergen Record reports.
Analysis: Urbom, still just 20 years old, started the season with the big club and he will end it in Newark as well. He's definitely one of the club's more promising defenders and likely will have another shot at making the NHL roster out of training camp in September.

Devils Send Urbom Back to AHL

News: Urbom was sent back to the AHL, reports Tom Gulitti of the Bergen Record.

Urbom Out For Devils

News: Urbom was a healthy scratch Tuesday after being recalled from the AHL earlier in the day.
Analysis: Urbom likely would have played if Colin White had not returned from a lower body injury. Urbom won't see much action during his most recent stint with the Devils.

Urbom Recalled By Devils

News: Urbom was recalled from Albany (AHL) on Tuesday for the Devils' game against Ottawa, the Newark Star-Ledger reports.
Analysis: Urbom was an emergency call-up with defenseman Mark Fayne battling the flu. Urbom stared the season with New Jersey, but was optioned to the AHL not long after it began. He's promising, but still a teenager.

Urbom Sent To AHL By Devils

News: Urbom was sent to Albany (AHL) on Monday, the Newark Star-Ledger reports.
Analysis: Urbom was a minus-3 and without a point through six games and the Devils want to get him some more reps in the AHL. Look for him to bounce between the majors and AHL this season, as he's a promising 19-year old.

Urbom to Start Friday For Devils

News: With the Devils sending Matt Taormina to Albany (AHL), Urbom is one of the six defensemen on the opening day roster for New Jersey, the Newark Star-Ledger reports.
Analysis: Urbom's an interesting talent at just 19 years of age, but he did post 33 points and 87 penalty minutes in the WHL last season. He will see some action to start the season and the Devils are very high on hm. Keep his name in mind if you're in a keeper league, as he may see some power-play time.

News: Urbom remained on the roster following training camp cuts Tuesday, according to the Bergen Record.
Analysis: Urbom's a 19-year old with NHL talent, but it remains to be seen what role he'll have on the blue line.
