Blackhawks Re-Sign Desjardins

News: Andrew Desjardins re-signed with the Blackhawks on Friday, ESPN reports.
Analysis: Andrew Desjardins will return to Chicago on a two-year deal that will pay him an average of $800,000 per season. The 28-year-old came over at the trade deadline from San Jose last season and was a plus-1 in 13 regular season contests. In 21 playoff appearances, Desjardins notched a goal and three assists.

Blackhawks' Desjardins Dishes Out Two In Win

News: Andrew Desjardins supplied two assists in Wednesday's Game 6 win over the Ducks.
Analysis: Andrew Desjardins' first assist required a particularly resilient effort, as he chased down a loose puck and dumped it over to Andrew Shaw, who would give the Blackhawks a two-goal advantage. Valued mostly for his steady, physical play on the back end, Desjardins typically doesn't see much involvement on the attack, and he has only three points across 14 postseason contests.

Blackhawks' Desjardins (Illness) Back At Practice

News: Andrew Desjardins (illness) returned to practice Wednesday, Eric Lear of Blackhawks TV reports.
Analysis: Andrew Desjardins had missed the last two practices while battling flu-like symptoms, but the ailment was never considered serious, and his presence on the ice Wednesday is an indication that he should be good to go going forward.

Hawks' Desjardins Misses Practice With Illness

News: Andrew Desjardins missed Sunday's practice due to an illness, Tracey Myers of CSN Chicago reports.
Analysis: Andrew Desjardins' illness isn't believed to be anything serious, so it shouldn't really cost him any time. Holding him out of practice was likely a precaution to prevent others from catching it, but he should have plenty of time to recover before the Blackhawks play again.

Hawks' Dejardins Fourth Line Center Thursday

News: Dejardins will return to the lineup on Thursday as the fourth-line center in replacing Marcus Kruger who is out with an illness, ESPN Chicago reports.
Analysis: Dejardins has been averaging about 13 to 14 minutes when he has been in the lineup recently for the Blackhawks. He was a healthy scratch on Tuesday against the Wild. Dejardins has two assists in 11 games since being acquired from the San Jose Sharks on March 1. The trade was a change of scenery swap as the Blackhawks sent Ben Smith to the Sharks. Smith has been more productive with two goals and three assists for San Jose; but if Dejardins gives the Hawks some production in the Stanley Cup playoffs, it will be considered a useful swap.

Hawks' Desjardins To Face Old Teammates

News: Andrew Desjardins will be in the lineup on Saturday against his old team, the Sharks, as the Blackhawks use him to fill the spot of Joakim Nordstrom, who was suspended for two games for an illegal hit in Thursday's contest, Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Analysis: Andrew Desjardins had been a healthy scratch for the previous two games after making his debut on March 6 for the Blackhawks after the trade with the Sharks.

Hawks' Desjardins Shows Toughness In Debut

News: Andrew Desjardins saw just over nine minutes in his Blackhawks debut Friday, racking up seven hits in a shootout victory over the Oilers.
Analysis: Andrew Desjardins also had two shots on goal in the victory. If Desjardins ends up finding himself as a regular skater in the Blackhawks' lineup, he could end up taking further ice time away from veteran Daniel Carcillo and rookie Teuvo Teravainen, both of whom were healthy scratches Friday.

Hawks' Desjardins Expected To Make Debut Friday

News: Andrew Desjardins, who was acquired from the Sharks on Monday in a deadline deal, is expected to be on the ice for the Blackhawks on Friday against the Oilers, ESPN Chicago reports.
Analysis: Andrew Desjardins will most likely be on the fourth line. With Desjardins expected to be in the lineup on Friday, Teuvo Teravainen would not suit up. The Blackhawks are hoping that a change of scenery will do the trick for Desjardins who had only eight points in 56 games for the Sharks.

Blackhawks Get Desjardins From Sharks In Deal

News: Andrew Desjardins was acquired from the Sharks in exchange for forward Ben Smith and a conditional 2017 seventh-round draft pick, Mark Spector of Sportsnet reports.
Analysis: The Sharks and Blackhawks will swap fourth-line centers in what amounts to a change-of-scenery deal for both players. Andrew Desjardins has only produced eight points in 56 games with the Sharks and shouldn't see much of a spike or dip in his already limited fantasy value with his new organization.

Sharks' Desjardins Scores Two

News: Andrew Desjardins' two goals early in the second period Thursday helped chase opposing goalie Kari Lehtonen in an eventual 5-2 win over the Stars.
Analysis: Andrew Desjardins doesn't contribute much offense, generally, as he's usually relied upon for his physical play. Thursday's four shots on goal represent his season high, and he only has eight points to show for 54 games this year.

Sharks' Desjardins Returns To Practice

News: Andrew Desjardins (personal) returned to practice Wednesday, Kevin Kurz of CSN Bay Area reports.
Analysis: Andrew Desjardins, who missed Tuesday's contest against the Coyotes to be with his wife, who was expecting the couple's first child, thus appears on track to return to the Sharks' lineup Thursday against the Maple Leafs.

Sharks' Desjardins Likely Out Tuesday

News: Andrew Desjardins (personal) was absent from the Sharks' morning skate and appears unlikely to play Tuesday in Arizona, Curtis Pashelka of the San Jose Mercury News reports.
Analysis: Andrew Desjardins was away from the team to be with his wife for the birth of the couple's child. There's been no indication yet that the fourth-liner has been ruled out for Tuesday's game, but that will more than likely be the case unless Desjardins decides to hop a flight to Arizona in time for the game. Instead, he'll likely take the entire day off to be with his family before making a probable return to action Thursday versus the Maple Leafs.

Sharks' Desjardins On Seven-Game Slump

News: Andrew Desjardins had a plus-1 rating and 14:28 of ice time in Sunday's win over Carolina.
Analysis: That's seven straight games without a point for Andrew Desjardins and he's only got a single assist through the first 20 games. Desjardins isn't known for logging lots of points, but he's falling below pace of past seasons in both shots and points.

Sharks' Desjardins Adds Two Assists

News: Andrew Desjardins and the Sharks' fourth line jump-started a seven-goal run with a pair of goals, both assisted on by Desjardins, in Sunday's Game 2 win over the Kings.
Analysis: Andrew Desjardins came into the series with two goals and no assists through 18 career playoff games. His two helpers are a good start, but don't expect a breakout postseason. Desjardins' role is to be a grinder and create energy for his team. Most nights, that's going to come in the form of being a physical presence rather than creating offense.

Sharks' Desjardins Nets Third Of Year

News: Andrew Desjardins opened the scoring in Tuesday's win over Edmonton.
Analysis: That's Andrew Desjardins' third goal of the year and first point in 12 games. You can't count on him for consistent offensive production, which means the only reason to own him in fantasy is his 86 PIM.

SJ's Desjardins Ties Career-High Assist Mark

News: Andrew Desjardins netted his 13th assist of the year — tying his career high— in a meager 6:01 of ice time Thursday against the Penguins.
Analysis: The game was tight and the Sharks didn't have a lead until late in the game. Whether he's on the third of fourth line, his ice time in a tough match tells you a lot about how much trust coach Todd McLellan has in him. When the game is on the line, you'll find Andrew Desjardins on the bench.

Rare Points For Sharks' Desjardins

News: Andrew Desjardins notched two assists in 13:04 of ice time in Thursday's 7-3 roll over Philadelphia.
Analysis: He helped out on both of the returning Raffi Torres' goals, and in doing so collected his first points since back on Jan. 14. Andrew Desjardins' PIM are generally where he finds most of his fantasy value, but he's been an inconsistent contributor even there, with just two penalty minutes in his last 11 games.

Sharks' Desjardins Thrives On Third Line

News: Andrew Desjardins moved up the lineup to center the third line on Thursday and finished the night with two assists and a plus-1 rating.
Analysis: This may be just a blip on the radar. With a healthy forward corps for the first time this season the Sharks are bound to move players around the depth chart a bit. Even if Andrew Desjardins stays on the third and doesn't move back to his normal role centering the fourth line, his offensive upside is limited. His career high is four goals in 76 games back in the 2011-12 campaign.

Desjardins Leading Sharks In PIM

News: Andrew Desjardins leads the Sharks with 72 penalty minutes on the season.
Analysis: The bottom-six forward doesn't offer much intrigue outside of deep leagues, but he offers occasional scoring (11 points in 58 games) to go along with his heavy hit (80) and penalty-minute totals. He should remain a quality role player for the Sharks until his contract expires at the end of next season.

Desjadins Scores Rare Goal For Sharks

News: Andrew Desjardins had a goal, three shots, and two penalty minutes in a victory over Detroit on Thursday.
Analysis: Andrew Desjardins has struggled to make an offensive impact for the Sharks this season. Thursday's goal is his first since October 27. Thursday was also the first time he logged at least three shots since December 5, a feat that he's only managed three times this season, while he's logged zero shots 12 times this season.

SJ's Desjardins Throws Shoulder Around

News: Andrew Desjardins had an assist and six hits in a 5-1 win over Edmonton on Thursday.
Analysis: Andrew Desjardins continues to be a strong physical presence for the Sharks, even if he's not providing much in the way of points with just a single goal and eight assists on the season.

Desjardins Notches Rare Point For San Jose

News: Andrew Desjardins had an assist and a minus-1 rating in just 7:31 of ice time during Saturday's shootout win over Dallas.
Analysis: As the Sharks played from behind most of the game, Andrew Desjardins' fourth line saw very little ice time, but still snapped an eight-game scoring drought with the helper. It's been a rough stretch for Desjardins owners, with the center only crossing 10 minutes of ice time once in the last four games, taking only a single shot over the last five games, and raking in a minus-4 rating in December. He also has only garnered 12 penalty minutes in December, a category in which owners have to be hoping he can help out a little more.

Desjardins May Be A Scratch For Sharks

News: Andrew Desjardins, based on morning skate Saturday, may be a healthy scratch in Saturday's match against New Jersey, according to David Pollak of the Mercury News.
Analysis: Honestly, you probably want to stay away from anyone in the five-person game of musical chairs that is San Jose's fourth line. While the rest of the lineup has stabilized some with the return of Martin Havlat and Brent Burns, it's caused chaos for the fourth line, which is constantly changing.

Sharks' Desjardins Scores First Of Year

News: Andrew Desjardins scored his first goal of the year — a beautiful backhander past Craig Anderson — in Sunday's win over Ottawa.
Analysis: Andrew Desjardins has four points in the season's opening 12 games, which puts him way ahead of the three points in 42 games he posted last season. Nonetheless, there's nothing to look at here except in the deepest of leagues.

Desjardins Gets Point As Sharks Dominate Rangers

News: Andrew Desjardins had an assist in the Sharks 9-2 rout of the Rangers Tuesday.
Analysis: Andrew Desjardins, while he has next to no value in even the deepest of leagues, had a pretty decent game. On top of his assist he added four shots and had 17:00 on ice.
