Oilers' Hall Out Six Weeks

News: Taylor Hall will be out six weeks with a lower-leg injury, reports Rob Tychkowski of the Edmonton Sun.
Analysis: Tychkowski adds that Taylor Hall is dealing with a cracked bone in the lower leg, an injury suffered when he was slashed back on Feb. 2. A late-March return thus looks like a best-case scenario for Hall. The absence of the Oilers' best player could be a blessing in disguise for the franchise, as it will surely bolster their chances of landing a high pick in the loaded 2015 NHL Entry Draft.

Oilers' Hall Heads To IR

News: The Oilers have placed Taylor Hall (ankle) on IR.
Analysis: With both Taylor Hall (who has 30 points in 42 games to date) and Benoit Pouliot having been placed on IR, the Oilers recalled Ryan Hamilton from AHL Oklahoma City to fortify the forward ranks.

Oilers' Hall To Undergo MRI On Ankle

News: Coach Todd Nelson indicated that Taylor Hall will undergo an MRI on his left ankle.
Analysis: Taylor Hall's status is still a bit cloudy with more tests forthcoming, but it seems all but certain he will miss Monday and Tuesday at a minimum. The MRI results should provide additional information and an updated timetable for the Oilers' forward.

Oilers' Hall Returns To Edmonton For Tests

News: Taylor Hall (ankle) returned to Edmonton on Sunday to undergo further evaluation on his injured ankle.
Analysis: Taylor Hall's departure from the team likely indicates he will miss at least Monday and Tuesday due to the injury, but the team doesn't return back to Edmonton until Feb. 16, with four more road games on tap. The news is a bit concerning, but the team should provide an update and a clearer timetable soon.

Oilers' Hall 'Highly Unlikely' For Saturday

News: Taylor Hall (foot) is considered "highly unlikely" to play Saturday against the Maple Leafs, Jack Michaels of the Oilers Radio Network reports.
Analysis: Taylor Hall hasn't resumed practicing since aggravating his foot injury in Monday's game against the Sharks. For what it's worth, interim coach Todd Nelson is calling Hall day-to-day, but he'll need to get back on the ice in the near future in order for fantasy owners to have confidence about a short-term absence.

Oilers' Hall Not Practicing Friday

News: Taylor Hall (foot) is not practicing Friday, Rob Tychkowski of the Edmonton Sun reports.
Analysis: After missing Wednesday's game against the Penguins, Taylor Hall appears to be in some danger of also missing Saturday's game against the Maple Leafs. He recently aggravated the foot injury that caused him to miss three games in late January.

Oilers' Hall Set To Sit Out Wednesday

News: Taylor Hall (foot) wasn't on the ice for the Oilers' morning skate and looks set to miss Wednesday's game against the Penguins, Jack Michaels of the Oilers Radio Network reports.
Analysis: Taylor Hall aggravated an existing foot injury in his return to the lineup Monday against the Sharks and hasn't resumed skating. With the Oilers headed nowhere this season, they'll proceed carefully with their franchise forward, giving him as much rest as he needs to heal up from the issue. While Hall remains sidelined, Nail Yakupov will get the first crack at filling in as the top-line left wing.

Oilers' Hall Game-time Decision

News: Taylor Hall (leg) is a game-time decision for Monday's game against the Sharks.
Analysis: Taylor Hall skated with the team earlier on Monday, and was able to return to practice before Saturday's game also, so he appears to be getting closer to a return. If he doesn't play on Monday, he could be able to suit up again on Wednesday against the Penguins.

Oilers' Hall Suffers Foot Injury Monday

News: Taylor Hall suffered a foot injury during Monday's game against the Sharks and will not return.
Analysis: Taylor Hall came into Monday's game with a lower-leg injury but managed to snap a three-game absence against the Sharks. Although his comeback party was short lived as he should be considered day-to-day ahead of Wednesday's game against the Penguins with what appears to be a fresh new injury.

Oilers' Hall (Lower Body) On Ice, But Not Skating

News: Taylor Hall (lower leg) is on the ice for pregame warmups against the Sharks on Monday, but isn't participating in line rushes, which puts his availability in question, Derek Van Diest of the Edmonton Sun reports.
Analysis: Taylor Hall took the ice for pregame warmups and seemed poised to erase a three-game absence from action due to a lower-leg injury. However, his status appears murky at this point since he's not fully participating in warmups.

Oilers' Hall (Lower Body) Will Play Monday

News: Taylor Hall (lower leg) is on the ice for Monday's pregame warmups and is expected to play against the Sharks, Oilers radio analyst Bob Stauffer reports.
Analysis: This outcome was somewhat expected after Taylor Hall managed to skate with the team during Monday's morning skate. He will be making his comeback from a three game absence with a lower leg injury.

Oilers' Hall Out Again Saturday

News: Taylor Hall (lower leg) will not play in Saturday's game against the Sharks, Derek Van Diest of the Edmonton Sun reports.
Analysis: Taylor Hall was able to resume skating with the team at morning skate, but his absence from line rushes means that he will head to the press box for a third straight contest. Still, the Oilers have to be encouraged by Hall's presence on the ice, further affirming that a long-term injury has been avoided. He'll set his sights on a return to action Monday in San Jose.

Hall (Lower Leg) To Travel With Oilers To Calgary

News: Taylor Hall (lower leg) will travel with the Oilers to Calgary for Saturday's game but remains uncertain to play, Matthew Iwanyk of TSN 1260 reports.
Analysis: Taylor Hall has been sidelined for two games with the injury, but the fact that he's traveling suggests the Oilers continue to view him as day-to-day and aren't fearing a long-term absence. His availability for Saturday's match against the Flames should be decided by the morning of the game.

Oilers' Hall (Lower Leg) Ruled Out Thursday

News: Taylor Hall (lower leg) will not play Thursday against the Sabres, Mike Harrington of the Buffalo News reports.
Analysis: Taylor Hall, who is dealing with a bone bruise, hasn't resumed skating since taking a shot off his leg during Monday's practice. As a result, he'll be sidelined for his second straight contest, with no indication on when he may be able to take to the ice again. The Oilers seem to be considering him day-to-day for the time being, but if he fails to notice much progress in the coming days, team doctors could reassess his status.

Oilers' Hall Day-To-Day

News: Taylor Hall is day-to-day with a lower-leg injury.
Analysis: Per coach Todd Nelson, Taylor Hall is dealing with "a bone bruise," and while it doesn't sound like an especially serious injury, the forward's status for Thursday's game against the Sabres is murky. An update on Hall's condition should be available following the Oilers' gameday skate Thursday morning.

Oilers' Hall Won't Play Tuesday

News: Taylor Hall (leg) won't play Tuesday against the Wild.
Analysis: Per coach Todd Nelson, Taylor Hall's leg injury "didn't react like (the team) wanted it to overnight" and as a result, the forward -- who absorbed a shot on his leg during Monday's practice -- is slated for further testing. Benoit Pouliot will assume Hall's spot on the Oilers' top line Tuesday.

Oilers' Hall Gets Two Points In Win

News: Taylor Hall tallied a goal, an assist and three shots on goal in Friday's 5-2 win over the Blackhawks.
Analysis: The Oilers finally seem to be breaking out of their funk that lasted through most of November and December, as they've now soundly beaten two quality teams in the Islanders and Blackhawks in January. It's been to the benefit of Taylor Hall, who has recorded a point in five of his last six games. Hall has been fortunate to avoid a huge drain to his plus/minus this season (minus-4 over 36 games), and now that the Oilers' offense is starting to click, the goals and assists could begin coming in droves.

Oilers' Hall Struggling To Overcome Team Context

News: Taylor Hall picked up an assist and fired off four shots on net in Sunday's surprise win over the Islanders.
Analysis: Taylor Hall has collected helpers in three of his last four games, but the burden of carrying his hapless squad night after night seems to be catching up to him in his fifth NHL season. He's tallied only two goals over his last 18 contests, and his 0.70 points per game represent his lowest scoring average since his rookie year.

Oilers' Hall Picks Up Three Points

News: Taylor Hall potted two goals and added an assist in Sunday's 6-5 loss to the Stars.
Analysis: Taylor Hall had been slumping with just one point in his last eight contests, but broke out with his best effort of the season. The 23-year-old is up to 10 goals and 11 assists through 28 games as his numbers have dipped from his 80 point output from a year ago.

Oilers' Hall In Midst Of Cold Spell

News: Taylor Hall has tallied just one point in the Oilers' last seven games.
Analysis: Taylor Hall hasn't seen his shot attempts take a dramatic dip during the scoring drought, but if he's not finding the back of the net with regularity, the Oilers are in a serious trouble. It shouldn't come as much of a surprise that with Hall slumping, the Oilers haven't mustered more than two goals in any match during that seven-game stretch. The burden of carrying the Oilers for the past five seasons clearly seems to be weighing down Hall, whose name has been starting to show up in trade rumors more frequently of late.

Hall Posts Two Assists In Losing Effort Friday

News: Taylor Hall posted two assists during Friday's 4-3 overtime loss to St. Louis.
Analysis: Taylor Hall now has a very respectable 15 points in 18 games this season, however his personal accomplishments are being overshadowed by the overall dismal state of his team, as the Oilers have now lost nine straight games and 13 of their last 15. Hall should continue to be one of the team's leading scorers, but he's playing in an environment that must make it hard to show up for work every night.

Oilers' Hall Back On Top Line

News: Taylor Hall practiced on the top line Monday, according to the Oilers' official site.
Analysis: Taylor Hall was taken off the top line last week in order to shake things up, but once Benoit Pouliot went down with an injury, it was just a matter of time for Hall to be reunited with Jordan Eberle and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins on the No. 1 trio.

Oilers Move Hall To Second Line

News: Taylor Hall has been moved to the second line, according to the Edmonton Sun.
Analysis: Coach Dallas Eakins is trying to shake things up for the Oil as the team is once again slumping. The hope is that if Taylor Hall can jump-start the second line that will even out the scoring for Edmonton. While that could happen, it's more likely that Hall will eventually end up back on the top line with Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Jordan Eberle.

Oilers' Hall Scores In Return

News: Taylor Hall returned to the lineup Sunday, scoring his seventh goal of the season and recording five shots on goal in a loss to Arizona.
Analysis: You miss me? Now that's how you make your return to the lineup, as Taylor Hall didn't look a bit out of place Sunday. He is now up to 11 points in 12 games on the season, leading Edmonton in goals. Now that he's fully healthy, Hall needs to be in your lineup every night the Oilers take to the ice.
