Habs' Bournival Returns

News: Michael Bournival returned to the Montreal lineup Tuesday night after a long layoff due to a shoulder injury. He skated 12:15 on a newly-constituted third line with David Desharnais and P.A. Parenteau.
Analysis: This is the first we've seen of this combination, so it may take some time to develop on-ice rapport. The unit may not get the chance to establish chemistry if Lars Eller (upper body) returns to active duty sooner than expected.

Canadiens' Bournival Recalled Sunday

News: Michael Bournival has been recalled by the Canadiens and will be at Monday's practice, Arpon Basu of LNH.com reports.
Analysis: Michael Bournival spent a brief amount of time in AHL Hamilton on a three-game conditioning assignment. Now that the stint in the AHL has passed, Bournival seems in good shape to be available for Tuesday's game against the Canucks.

Canadiens Send Bournival For Conditioning Work

News: The Canadiens assigned Michael Bournival to AHL Hamilton on Thursday as part of a three-game conditioning assignment, Arpon Basu of LNH.com reports.
Analysis: Michael Bournival is ready to resume playing, but since he has not played in an NHL game since early November, he will head to Hamilton to get in some ice time before suiting up for the Canadiens again.

Habs' Bournival Closing In On Return

News: Coach Michel Therrien said Michael Bournival (shoulder) is inching closer to a return, but won't play Wednesday versus the Wild.
Analysis: Michael Bournival rejoined his teammates for practice Friday and is gradually increasing his activity level as he recovers from the shoulder injury. He could be ready to go for the Canadiens by the weekend.

Habs' Bournival Skates With Teammates Friday

News: Michael Bournival (shoulder) skated with his teammates at Friday's morning session.
Analysis: Michael Bournival won't be a lineup consideration for Friday and perhaps the next several games, but he's shown tangible signs of progress in the last few days. He was able to get in some shooting a few days ago and may only need to take part in a full-contact practice or two before the Habs activate him from IR.

Canadiens' Bournival Now Shooting

News: Michael Bournival (shoulder) was able to attempt a few slap shots at Wednesday's practice, Arpon Basu of LNH.com reports.
Analysis: It's certainly seems to indicate that Michael Bournival is making some progress in the recovery from the shoulder injury, which has sidelined him for the last three weeks. He could be close to practicing with the team, and after doing so, an activation from injured reserve might not be far behind.

Habs' Bournival Resumes Skating

News: Michael Bournival (shoulder) skated on his own before Saturday's morning session, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
Analysis: It's only a preliminary step in the recovery process for Michael Bournival, who is projected to miss at least one more week with the injury, but quite possibly longer. Even once he's healthy, Bournival won't be guaranteed a lineup spot, as he had been a healthy scratch for all but two games before suffering the injury in a Nov. 5 contest.

Analysis: Michael Bournival was ruled out for at least two-to-three weeks after suffering the shoulder injury last Wednesday against the Sabres. He had only appeared in two games for the Habs this season, serving primarily as a healthy scratch on most occasions.

Habs' Bournival Out 2-3 Weeks

News: Michael Bournival (shoulder) will miss a minimum of two-to-three weeks, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
Analysis: Michael Bournival will undergo further testing in the coming days in order to determine a treatment method. The 22-year-old had been a healthy scratch for the Canadiens all season before making his first two appearances earlier this week.

News: Michael Bournival exited Wednesday's game with an upper-body injury, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.

Habs' Bournival Makes Debut

News: Michael Bournival made his season debut Tuesday night, getting off two shots in 8:35 of fourth-line ice time in a 5-0 loss to Chicago.
Analysis: Michael Bournival replacing Travis Moen was one of a few personnel changes implemented by head coach Michel Therrien following Sunday's 6-2 loss to the Flames, but little came of his maneuvering.

Bournival Joins Habs In Edmonton

News: Michael Bournival was called up from Hamilton of the American Hockey League and is with the team as it opens a three-game swing through western Canada Monday night in Edmonton, Hockey Inside Out reports.

Habs Send Bournival Back To Minors

News: Michael Bournival was assigned to AHL Hamilton on Wednesday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
Analysis: Michael Bournival will stay with Hamilton until Sunday, when he'll rejoin the Canadiens in Edmonton. The 22-year-old has been a healthy scratch for all seven of the Habs' games thus far, so the demotion looks to be just an excuse for the organization to find him some ice time.

Habs Recall Bournival

News: Michael Bournival recalled Bournival from Hamilton of the American Hockey League, Hockey Inside Out reports. He had been sent down to the AHL to get some playing time and scored a goal in two games with the Bulldogs.
Analysis: Michael Bournival opened the regular season in Montreal but had not appeared in a game, hence the desire to get some playing time in with the Bulldogs. He rotated in on the fourth line during Monday's practice, and it is not known if he'll suit up Tuesday night against Detroit.

Habs' Bournival To Play In AHL Over The Weekend

News: Michael Bournival will play with AHL Hamilton this weekend and rejoin the Canadiens on Monday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
Analysis: The 22-year-old center had a quiet season in 2013-14, scoring just seven goals and seven assists in 60 games played for Montreal. Michael Bournival has been a healthy scratch in each of the Canadiens four games this season, so a temporary stay in the AHL would afford him some needed ice time. Montreal doesn't seem to have an established role for him yet, and a role as a regular healthy scratch may be awaiting him upon his return to the Canadiens.

Habs' Bournival A Healthy Scratch

News: Michael Bournival is expected to be a healthy scratch for Wednesday's game against the Maple Leafs, Pat Hickey of the Montreal Gazette reports.
Analysis: Michael Bournival is coming off a rather quiet rookie season (seven goals, 14 points in 60 games) and doesn't look like the Canadiens have established a regular role for him yet. On the nights he's not a healthy scratch, expect him to see usage with multiple line combination as coach Michel Therrien looks to determine where the young center fits in best.

News: Michael Bournival skated on the fifth line during Sunday's practice, Hockey Inside Out reports.

Canadiens' Bournival A Healthy Scratch

News: Michael Bournival (concussion), who was on a conditioning stint with AHL Hamilton, is listed among the Canadiens' scratches in Thursday's game, NHL.com's Arpon Basu reports.
Analysis: With his rehab assignment seemingly concluded, Michael Bournival could slot back into the lineup within the next few games. He has 13 points (six goals), 70 shots on goal, 14 PIM and a minus-five rating through 50 games in his rookie season

Habs Send Bournival Down To AHL Hamilton

News: Michael Bournival (concussion) was sent to AHL Hamilton on Monday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.

Habs' Bournival Takes Contact

News: Michael Bournival (concussion) was wearing a full-contact jersey at Friday's practice, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
Analysis: Passing through full-contact work could be the final hurdle Michael Bournival needs to clear before returning from injured reserve. While his activation might not come over the weekend, the young center seems on track to return next week if he endures no further setbacks in his recovery. He's missed the last nine games due to the concussion.

Analysis: The rookie donned a blue non-contact jersey, skating for the first time since his February 8 concussion against the Canucks. He has amassed 13 points, 59 hits and 36 blocked shots while averaging 10:30 of ice time in 50 games in his first NHL campaign.
