Flames' Ferland Suffered Torn Oblique

News: Micheal Ferland suffered a torn oblique in Game 4 of the first round.
Analysis: Micheal Ferland played through the injury, logging close to his usual ice time in the final two games of the Flames' first-round series against Vancouver. He went on to play in three of four games in the second round against the Ducks, notching one goal and a minus-2 rating. At this time, it's unclear whether Ferland will need to undergo surgery at some point this offseason, but he's expected to be fully healthy for training camp.

Flames' Ferland Finds Twine In Game 4 Loss

News: Micheal Ferland returned to the lineup Friday, scoring his third goal of the playoffs in a Game 4 loss to the Ducks.
Analysis: It was Micheal Ferland's first game of the second round, as he had missed the first three contests with an upper-body injury. The 23-year-old has been productive in these playoffs when healthy, recording five points and a plus-4 rating in eight games. With the Flames now trailing the Ducks 3-1 in their best-of-seven series, it might be too late for the feisty winger to make much more of an impact.

News: Micheal Ferland (upper body) will return to the Flames' lineup for Game 4 against the Ducks, Wes Gilbertson of the Calgary Sun reports.
Analysis: Although Micheal Ferland will return to Calgary's lineup for Game 4 against Anaheim, don't expect much in terms of production from him, as the winger only managed to tally five points in 26 games during the regular season.

Flames' Ferland On Ice For Pregame Warmup

News: Micheal Ferland (upper body) is on the ice for the pregame warmup ahead of Friday's Game 4 against the Ducks, Wes Gilbertson of the Calgary Sun reports.
Analysis: He did not take part in Calgary's line rushes during the warmup, however, which may indicate that he might not be completely ready to make a return to game action on Friday. The Flames should confirm his availability prior to puck drop on Friday.

Flames' Ferland Out For Game 3

News: Updating a previous report, Micheal Ferland (upper body) was made a late scratch and will not play in Tuesday's Game 3 against the Ducks, Wes Gilbertson of the Calgary Sun reports.
Analysis: All indications were that Micheal Ferland was trending toward a return to the lineup after partaking in the Flames' warmup seemingly without incident, but coach Bob Hartley ended up calling a late audible. As a result, Markus Granlund will assume a spot in the lineup, while Ferland misses a second straight match due to injury.

News: Micheal Ferland (upper body) will return to the lineup Tuesday for Game 3 of the Flames' second-round series against the Ducks, Kristen Odland of the Calgary Herald reports.
Analysis: After experiencing no issues in the Flames' gameday skate and pregame warmup, Micheal Ferland will occupy a position on the team's third line as the series returns to Calgary. He was forced to miss the Game 2 loss due to the injury, with David Wolf stepping in to replace him.

News: Micheal Ferland (upper body) indicated that he will play Game 2 Sunday against the Ducks, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 The FAN reports
Analysis: Micheal Ferland was forced out of the Ducks' Game 1 win with an upper body injury, and was not able to practice Saturday either. While he will go Sunday, the wing may still be hampered by this injury, putting his fantasy value into question a bit.

Flames' Ferland Misses Practice On Saturday

News: Micheal Ferland (undisclosed) did not participate in the Flames' practice on Saturday, Wes Gilbertson of the Calgary Sun reports.
Analysis: On Friday reports indicated that Micheal Ferland was expected to suit up for Sunday's Game 2 against the Ducks. Flames' Ferland Notches Three Points In Game 6 Win

News: Michael Ferland scored two goals, dished out an assist, fired four shots on goal and recorded seven hits in Saturday's series-clinching Game 6 win over the Canucks.
Analysis: Michael Ferland was a factor all series, getting under the Canucks skin with 40 hits and 21 PIM. Skating on the third line, the 23-year-old also contributed on offense with four points and found some chemistry with Matt Stajan. If Ferland can be as effective as he was against the Canucks in Round 2, the Flames could have a chance to get past the Ducks.

Ferland Playing Key Role For Flames

News: Michael Ferland dished out eight hits and picked up five PIM in Sunday's Game 3 win over Vancouver.
Analysis: Michael Ferland has been getting under the Canucks skin in these playoffs and is turning into a good agitator for the Flames. The 22-year-old skates on the third line and has managed just five points in 26 NHL regular-season games, but he's racked up 19 PIM in just three playoff games and can also be counted on for hits. He won't provide a ton of offense, but Ferland is trying to get Vancouver off their game and has been valuable for the Flames.

Flames' Ferland Bags Game-Winner Sunday

News: Michael Ferland tallied the game-winning goal in Sunday's 5-2 victory over the Predators.
Analysis: It's the first career NHL goal for Michael Ferland, who has accrued only three points in 21 games this season. His unstable role in the Flames lineup and his third- or fourth-line standing on the occasions he does play don't make Ferland an attractive fantasy option.

News: Michael Ferland (concussion) has been cleared to play but is still in need of further conditioning, Kristen Odland of the Calgary Herald reports.

Flames Recall Ferland

News: Michael Ferland was recalled from AHL Adirondack on Thursday, Randy Sportak of the Calgary Sun reports.
Analysis: With Mikael Backlund failing to show improvement in his recovery from an abdominal issue that has bothered him since training camp, the Flames elected to place him on IR, clearing the way for Michael Ferland's promotion.
