Bruins Sign Spooner

News: Ryan Spooner signed a two-year contract extension with the Bruins on Wednesday worth $1.9 million, WEEI.com reports.
Analysis: Ryan Spooner, who notched 18 points in 29 games for the Bruins this past season, is now the favorite to replace Carl Soderberg (now with the Avs) as the team's third-line center. It's an assignment that the 23-year-old looks up to the task for, following his breakout effort last season. As long as he can continue to hold up to the physical rigors of the NHL, Spooner's speed and playmaking upside will be valuable assets to the Bruins' forward corps.

Bruins Give Qualifying Offer To Spooner

News: The Bruins have extended a qualifying offer to Ryan Spooner, Joe Haggerty of CSN New England reports.
Analysis: The nimble centerman is thus almost certain to return to Boston for 2015-16, and as things stand now, it looks like he's got the inside track on the third-line center job, with some power-play time to boot -- assuming the Bruins don't bring some depth in during free agency. If he does find his way into a regular role, Ryan Spooner's playmaking ability will make him useful in deeper fantasy formats.

Bruins' Spooner Assigned To AHL

News: Ryan Spooner was assigned to AHL Providence on Monday, Amalie Benjamin of the Boston Globe reports.
Analysis: Ryan Spooner and a couple other players will head over to Providence to get the last few reps of the 2014-15 season now that the Bruins have missed the playoffs. The 23-year-old appeared in 29 games for Boston this season and produced 18 points. He'll likely be locked into a full-time role with the parent club in 2015-16.

Bruins' Spooner Notches Two Points Tuesday

News: A goal initially credited to David Pastrnak in Tuesday's 3-2 win over Florida, has been awarded to Ryan Spooner, with Milan Lucic and Pastrnak drawing assists on the tally.
Analysis: Ryan Spooner thus finishes the game with credit for his eighth goal of the season to go along with a helper, which gives him five points over his last four games. Over that span, he has three goals and it's clear that working on a line with Milan Lucic and David Pastrnak agrees with Spooner, who has displayed a higher level of confidence and shooting ability of late, to go along with the speed and deft puck-handling he had previously displayed at times for the B's. With Spooner's trio clicking these days, look for the Bruins to keep the line intact for the time being, though the return of Brett Connolly does figure to lead to coach Claude Julien doing some line-juggling in the coming days.

Spooner Stays Hot For Bruins

News: Ryan Spooner picked up a pair of assists in Tuesday's 3-2 win over Florida, pushing his point streak to four games.
Analysis: In fact, over his last seven contests, Ryan Spooner has four goals and four assists, marking some red-hot late-season production that's provided a crucial boost to the Bruins' scoring depth as they've been fighting to gain and hold a playoff spot.

Bruins' Spooner Opens Sunday's Scoring

News: Ryan Spooner opened the scoring in Sunday's 2-1 overtime win over the Hurricanes.
Analysis: Ryan Spooner, who now has seven goals and 15 points in 23 games for the big club this season, has recorded six points over his last six contests. Though David Krejci has been back in the B's lineup since Thursday, Spooner's solid production of late has kept him in the team's forward mix, centering Milan Lucic and David Pastrnak, who tallied Sunday's game-winner.

Bruins' Spooner To Remain Lineup Fixture

News: Coach Claude Julien stressed Friday that Ryan Spooner would remain a lineup regular even after David Krejci (knee) returns to the lineup, Joe Haggerty of CSN New England reports.
Analysis: Ryan Spooner has been spectacular since being called up from AHL Providence in February to fill in as the second-line center during Krejci's absence. After a two-goal performance in Thursday's loss to the Senators, Spooner has now produced five goals and six assists over 13 games, while helping the Bruins create a little separation for the final wild-card spot in the process. With Krejci on tap to return as soon as the weekend, it will be interesting to see how Julien configures his lines, but expect Spooner to stick around in the Bruins' top six.

Bruins' Spooner Snaps Brief Skid

News: Ryan Spooner ended a brief offensive slump with a pair of goals -- one on the power play -- on seven shots Thursday in a 6-4 loss to Ottawa.
Analysis: Ryan Spooner's always been known as a distributor, so seeing him fire off seven shots on goal is a bit of a stunner. After a seven-game point streak, he'd cooled off with three straight off the scoresheet, but got right back at it in impressive fashion. The 23-year-old now owns 11 points in 18 games with the Bruins this season, and if his consistently strong AHL production is any indicator, he could be in line for a legitimate breakout next year.

Bruins' Spooner: Streak To Six With Two-Goal Game

News: Ryan Spooner pushed his point streak to six games by scoring a pair of second-period goals Tuesday in a 3-1 win over Ottawa.
Analysis: He opened the game's scoring with a power-play goal early in the second and added an insurance goal late in the period. Ryan Spooner's now tallied three goals and four assists over the course of his streak, and he's been doing it despite inconsistent ice time -- he skated just 13 minutes Tuesday and 12 on Sunday, a steep cut from the 15-plus he was playing in the first six games after his recall.

Assist Streak Hits Four For B's Spooner

News: Ryan Spooner dished out a secondary assist on Brad Marchand's game-winning goal Saturday against the Flyers.
Analysis: The long-term absence to David Krejci (knee) has created an opportunity for Ryan Spooner to claim a second-line role, and thus far, he's answered the bell. The 23-year-old center has recorded points in four consecutive games (one goal, three assists), while seeing his ice time rise as a result. Spooner's role isn't likely to decline in the near future with Krejci still several weeks away from a return, so those in deeper leagues may want to kick the tires on the youngster for a little bit.

Bruins' Spooner Sinks Devils In OT

News: Ryan Spooner scored the overtime-winning goal Friday against the Devils.
Analysis: It was just the first goal of the season for Ryan Spooner, who has tallied two points in eight games. With top center David Krejci set to miss four-to-six weeks with a partially torn MCL, Spooner was recalled from AHL Providence and is currently centering the Bruins' second line. Considering his terrific playmaking ability, Spooner could be worth looking at until Krejci returns.

Opportunity Knocks For Bruins' Spooner

News: Ryan Spooner centered David Pastrnak and Milan Lucic during Tuesday's morning skate.
Analysis: With David Krejci set to miss 4-6 weeks with a partially torn MCL, Ryan Spooner has a chance to make a mark in the meantime. The 23-year-old has zero goals and 12 assists in 33 career NHL games to date, but in the absence of the B's making a trade to add depth down the middle, opportunity knocks for Spooner, who as a result, now merits attention in both season-long and daily formats.

Bruins' Spooner Notches Helper Sunday

News: Ryan Spooner recorded an assist in 15:53 worth of ice time in Sunday's 6-2 win over Chicago.
Analysis: With David Krejci dealing with an injury that could keep him out for a while, Ryan Spooner -- who recorded 3:05 worth of power play time Sunday -- could be worth a scoop by those looking to bolster their center depth, given the 23-year old's wheels and playmaking upside.

Bruins' Spooner To Join Lineup Sunday

News: Ryan Spooner, who was recalled from AHL Providence on Saturday, will play in Sunday's game against the Blackhawks, Joe Haggerty of CSN New England reports.
Analysis: With David Krejci (lower body) ruled out, Ryan Spooner will make his sixth NHL appearance of the season. He had 11 points (all assists) in 23 games last season, but he's still searching for his first NHL point of 2014-15.

Bruins' Spooner Called Up From AHL Providence

News: Ryan Spooner was called up from AHL Providence on Saturday, Joe Haggerty of CSN New England reports.
Analysis: Ryan Spooner was called up as insurance for David Krejci (lower body), who is traveling to Chicago for Sunday's game against the Blackhawks. If Krejci is unable to play, Spooner may get the opportunity to make his sixth NHL appearance of the season. He doesn't have any points this season, but he did manage 11 points (all assists) in 23 games last season.

Bruins Assign Spooner To AHL Providence

News: Ryan Spooner was assigned AHL Providence on Sunday, the Bruins' official site reports.
Analysis: Ryan Spooner skated in five games for the Bruins this season, but failed to score on six shots, recording a minus-2 plus/minus rating and an average of 10:50 of ice time. The 22-year-old forward recorded 46 points (11 goals and 35 assists) over 49 games with AHL Providence last season, and should receive ample playing time in his return to the team. He's a candidate for a recall when the big club needs depth up front, but the return of Gregory Campbell squeezed him out of the B's lineup.

Return To AHL Could Be Looming For Bruins' Spooner

News: Ryan Spooner will serve as a healthy scratch Thursday against the Canadiens.
Analysis: With the surprising return of Gregory Campbell to Thursday's lineup, Ryan Spooner will forfeit his role as the club's fourth-line center. After Thursday's game, Spooner will more than likely return to AHL Providence, where he'll be able to see more consistent ice time to further aid his development.

Bruins' Spooner Works With Lucic And Fraser

News: In advance of Wednesday's game against the Flyers, Ryan Spooner was skating on a line with Milan Lucic and Matt Fraser, Joe Haggerty of csnne.com reports.
Analysis: With fellow center David Krejci (undisclosed injury) out for the Bruins' first three games, Ryan Spooner appears in line to see a regular shift for the Bruins early on and thus merits fantasy consideration in deeper leagues out of the gate.

Spooner Sticks With Bruins

News: Ryan Spooner will be on the Bruins' opening roster in advance of Wednesday's game against the Flyers.
Analysis: While Ryan Spooner's role with the Bruins out of the gate is unclear, he does possess the sort of speed and skill the Bruins could use up front, provided he can hold his own defensively.

Bruins' Spooner Notches Pair Of Goals

News: Ryan Spooner, who was recalled by the Bruins in advance of Friday's preseason game against the Islanders, notched two goals and an assist in the team's 6-1 win, ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Ryan Spooner, who normally plays center, played left wing Friday, and in the words of coach Claude Julien, "it was one of his best games we've seen him play in a while." Spooner had been sent to AHL Providence on Wednesday, but Friday's strong effort could earn him another look in Saturday's preseason finale against the Red Wings. In any case, Spooner has the sort of speed and offensive ability that the Bruins could use up front, though in order to cement a job with the big club, he'll need to demonstrate added consistency and an ability to hold his own defensively.

Bruins Demote Spooner

News: Ryan Spooner is headed for AHL Providence, the Bruins' official site reports.
Analysis: The timing of his demotion is a bit of a surprise, but given his speed and skill, Ryan Spooner is an obvious candidate for an in-season call-up when injuries hit the Bruins up front.

Bruins' Spooner Notches Goal Tuesday

News: Ryan Spooner scored a goal in Tuesday's preseason opener against the Canadiens, the Bruins' official site reports.
Analysis: Despite the tally, some of Ryan Spooner's defensive lapses in the contest caught coach Claude Julien's eye, an area that the speedy and skilled young forward will need to improve on in order to make the Bruins' roster.

Bruins Send Spooner Back To Minors

News: Ryan Spooner was reassigned to AHL Providence on Friday, Joe Haggerty of CSNNE.com reports.
Analysis: Ryan Spooner joined the lineup Thursday against the Jets in place of Patrice Bergeron, seeing 14:18 of ice time and registering a shot on goal. Bergeron's injury was considered minor and looks like it will only keep him one game, lessening the need for the Bruins to hang on to Spooner.

Bruins' Spooner Enters Lineup

News: Ryan Spooner saw 14:18 worth of ice time in Thursday's shootout loss to the Jets.
Analysis: Ryan Spooner, who was playing in his first game with the big club since Jan. 20, has recorded 11 helpers in 23 games for the B's overall. The 22-year-old could see another regular season game or two, with the Bruins resting key players selectively down the stretch, but once the playoffs start, he'll be an injury or two from re-entering the mix. Spooner remains, however, a name to know in keeper formats, given the speed and playmaking upside he possesses.

Bruins Recall Spooner

News: Ryan Spooner was recalled on an emergency basis Wednesday.
Analysis: Ryan Spooner will provide the Bruins with some extra depth at forward while Chris Kelly and Jarome Iginla remain day-to-day with injuries. He could make an appearance in the lineup Thursday against the Jets if neither of those players are able to go.
