News: Joe Colborne signed a two-year contract to remain with the Flames on Tuesday.
Analysis: Joe Colborne enjoyed his first full NHL campaign with Calgary last season, recording 10 goals and 18 assists in 80 games. The center, who was acquired from Toronto last September, offers modest fantasy value at the moment, but was once upon a time (that is, 2008) the No. 16 overall pick.

Flames' Colborne Finds Net Friday

News: Joe Colborne scored his 10th goal of the season during the Flame's 4-3 win over the Rangers on Friday.
Analysis: Joe Colborne hasn't been incredibly productive all year but seems to be enjoying a solid month of March with six goals and four assists over a 15-game span. With just 25 points over 72 games and few penalty minutes to offer, his fantasy contributions are fairly minimal.

Flames' Colborne Notches Pair Of Assists

News: Joe Colborne dished out a pair of assists Friday in a 4-3 shootout victory over the Stars.
Analysis: Joe Colborne has had a surprisingly productive March, with seven points in eight games. The fourth-year player appears to be finding his niche in Calgary after barely playing his first three years in the league. He's worth a look if you need a late-season fill-in, as the youngsters in Calgary are starting to play better.

Flames' Colborne Pots Two In Win

Analysis: With the Flames trailing 3-1 entering the third period, Joe Colborne spearheaded a rally that allowed Calgary to escape with their 25th victory of the season. He's been simply exceptional for the Flames since they returned from the Olympic break, supplying three goals and two assists over his five games.

Flames' Colborne Beginning To Heat Up

News: Joe Colborne provided his fifth goal of the season in Wednesday's 4-1 win over the Senators.
Analysis: Joe Colborne has compiled points in three straight games, marking his longest streak of the season. He doesn't see big minutes for the Flames very often, but that could change over the final 20 games of the season while the team looks to see what it has with some of its younger players.

Flames' Colborne Present At Morning Skate

News: Joe Colborne (illness) was present at Saturday's morning skate and could play against the Oilers, Randy Sportak of the Calgary Sun reports.
Analysis: The fact that Joe Colborne felt well enough to travel to Edmonton rather than remain at home seems to be a good indication he'll be back in the lineup Saturday. He sat out Friday's loss to the Avalanche with the illness.

Flames' Colborne Game-Time Decision With Flu

News: Joe Colborne has the flu and will be a game-time decision Friday against the Avalanche, the Flames' official site reports.
Analysis: The former first-round pick has appeared in 26 out of a possible 27 games this season, tallying eight points (three goals), six PIM, 26 shots on goal, and a minus-3 rating. Joe Colborne may miss Friday's game, and he could also be in trouble for Saturday, if he isn't able to go Friday.

Flames' Colborne Scores In Loss

News: Joe Colborne netted his team's only goal in Wednesday night's loss to the Blue Jackets.
Analysis: The goal improved Joe Colborne's line to 2/3/5 through 21 games this season, so the center isn't a factor outside the deepest of fantasy leagues.

Colborne Scores First With Flames

News: Joe Colborne scored his first goal as a member of the Flames in Tuesday's loss to the Coyotes.
Analysis: He'd previously managed just an assist in seven games to start the year and continues to see sparing ice time, limiting his fantasy value. However, Joe Colborne has shown offensive promise in the AHL before, and he's got size and pedigree working to his advantage as well.

Colborne May Make Flames Debut Friday

News: After sitting out Thursday's season opener, Joe Colborne may suit up Friday against Columbus, the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Joe Colborne was a healthy scratch Thursday in order to watch the game and get a better feel for the Calgary system. Colborne is expected to compete for the fourth line center position for the time being.

Flames Acquire Colborne From Leafs

News: The Flames acquired Joe Colborne from the Maple Leafs on Sunday for a fourth-round pick in 2014.
Analysis: Joe Colborne returns home, as Calgary is his hometown and he rooted for the Flames growing up. The center has six points in 16 career NHL games, and while he'll start on the third or fourth line, Calgary hopes he can develop into a top-tier center.

Leafs' Colborne Muscled Up Over Summer

News: Joe Colborne boosted his training regimen this offseason to focus on leg strength and he was able to add more than 10 pounds of muscle, reports Toronto Star. He now tips the scales at more than 220.
Analysis: Joe Colborne stands at 6-6 and his quick metabolism has prevented him from gaining weight in the past. He dropped to 210 by the end of last season. He also worked hard at his skating, which has been considered plodding in the past, but will be in a battle to win a roster spot this year. If he does, you can count on him to play a pounding, physical game down low. It may not translate into points, though.

Toronto Re-Signs Colborne

News: Joe Colborne signed a one-year contract with Toronto on Wednesday.
Analysis: Joe Colborne showed some promise with five points in 10 games back in 2011, but he hasn't posted a point in his five games since then. With 42 points in 65 AHL games last year, though, the 23-year-old could earn more NHL reps in 2013 with a little luck. That, of course, is not saying much as far as his fantasy prospects go.

Maple Leafs' Colborne Recalled

News: The Maple Leafs have recalled Joe Colborne from AHL Toronto, TSN's Jonas Siegel reports.
Analysis: Joe Colborne was recalled as injury insurance, so it may not be long before he is headed back to the AHL. He has 14 goals and 42 points in 65 minor league games this season.

Leafs' Prospect Colborne Heads To Press Box

News: Joe Colborne and linemate Nazem Kadri were benched for Friday's game, reports Slam Sports.
Analysis: "(Kadri and Joe Colborne) are not playing up to their capabilities and everybody has seen that so far," assistant coach Gord Dineen said Friday morning. "We're trying to keep energy in our lineup. Maybe it's good sometimes to sit up there and watch." Colborne and Kadri were a combined minus-3 in the game Thursday night and were both stranded deep up ice on at least one of the opponent's goals. Colborne is scoreless in nine games, but has four helpers.

Leafs' Colborne: Finger Injury

News: Joe Colborne has missed several games in the AHL playoffs with a finger injury and may not be ready to start the Western Conference finals on Thursday, reports Sportsnet.ca.
Analysis: He tried to play through it, but it's a bad cut and it just kept re-opening during the team's last series so they shut him down to avoid an infection. Marlies' coach Dallas Eakins is not certain when Joe Colborne will return: "We'll just have to see how it goes day to day," he said. Thankfully, it does not sound like it'll have long-term implications.

Leafs Demote Colborne

News: Joe Colborne has been returned to AHL Toronto, the Maple Leafs' official site reports.

Colborne Recalled By Leafs

News: The Maple Leafs have recalled Joe Colborne from AHL Toronto, Toronto Globe & Mail writer James Mirtle reports.
Analysis: Joe Colborne had no goals and just two assists in the past 19 games with the Marlies, but perhaps a late-season cup of coffee with the big club will help the skilled, but under-producing prospect shake off the scoring cobwebs.

Maple Leafs Assign Colborne To AHL

News: The Maple Leafs assigned Joe Colborne to AHL Toronto on Thursday, the Toronto Star reports.
Analysis: Joe Colborne picked up a goal and three assists in nine games with the club, but he was the victim of a numbers game with Colby Armstrong and Clarke MacArthur both expected to return Friday. Colborne's strong showing in extended action should put him near the top of the list the next time Toronto needs to add a forward.
