Coyotes Retain Gormley

News: Brandon Gormley has been tendered a qualifying offer by the Coyotes, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.
Analysis: Thus it's fairly well assured that Brandon Gormley will spend next season in Arizona. It could be the first full NHL campaign for the No. 13 pick in the 2010 draft, who picked up four points to go with a minus-7 rating while seeing limited ice time in 27 games for the Coyotes last year.

Coyotes Assign Gormley To AHL

News: The Coyotes assigned Brandon Gormley to AHL Portland on Sunday.
Analysis: Brandon Gormley, who has notched four points and 10 PIM in 27 games with the Coyotes this season, returns to Portland, where the blueliner (who was the No. 13 overall pick in the 2010 NHL Draft) has recorded seven points in 16 AHL contests to date.

Coyotes' Gormley Registers Assist In Loss

News: Brandon Gormley picked up an assist in Thursday's loss to the Avalanche.
Analysis: The 2010 first-round pick hasn't found much success in his 29 career NHL games, mustering only two goals and four points. He's been in the lineup the last two games for the Coyotes and could continue to hold down a regular role the rest of the way for the big club, but don't count on him to deliver much scoring until a couple years down the road.

Coyotes Recall Gormley From Minors

News: Brandon Gormley was recalled from AHL Portland on Thursday.
Analysis: Brandon Gormley looks on tap to serve as the Coyotes' seventh defenseman for Friday's game against the Sharks, replacing Chris Summers, who was sent back to Portland in a corresponding move. The Coyotes likely didn't recall the 22-year-old Gormley only to let him sit during his entire stay with the club, so there would seem to be a decent odds that if he doesn't play Friday, he'll enter the lineup Saturday against the Rangers. Gormley has recorded two goals and an assist over 15 games with the Coyotes on the season.

Coyotes Assign Gormley To AHL

News: Brandon Gormley was assigned to AHL Portland on Wednesday.
Analysis: Brandon Gormley was moved down in order to receive added ice time over the All-Star break. He will likely be recalled following the recess, but there's no guarantee. In 15 games this season, the 22-year-old blueliner has recorded three points (two goals, one assist) in 16:20 of average ice time.

Coyotes' Gormley (Lower Body) To Play Tuesday

News: Brandon Gormley (lower body) will play Tuesday against the Blackhawks.
Analysis: Brandon Gormley's return to the lineup was tipped off by his activation from injured reserve a day earlier. He's set to join Philip Samuelsson on the Coyotes' third defensive pairing.

Coyotes' Gormley Activated

News: Brandon Gormley (lower body) has been taken off injured reserve by the Coyotes, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.
Analysis: Brandon Gormley, who last played on Jan. 10, could suit up as soon as Tuesday's game against Chicago. Prior to his injury, Gormley -- who has notched three points in 14 games overall -- had gone seven contests without a point.

Coyotes' Gormley (Lower Body) Lands On IR

News: Brandon Gormley (lower body) was officially placed on injured reserve Thursday, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.
Analysis: Brandon Gormley was able to get in a brief skate Thursday morning, but his placement on IR will keep him unavailable until at least Sunday's game against the Jets. Martin Hanzal was activated from IR in a corresponding move.

Coyotes' Gormley (Lower Body) To Sit Thursday

News: Brandon Gormley (lower body) will miss Thursday's game against the Flames, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.
Analysis: Brandon Gormley was unable to participate in Wednesday's practice, ending any chance he had of suiting up in the Coyotes' next game. The team is still considering him day-to-day, taking a long-term absence off the table for now.

Coyotes Plan To Place Gormley On IR

News: The Coyotes plan to move Brandon Gormley (lower body) to IR, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.
Analysis: Once the move is made, the Coyotes plan to activate Martin Hanzal in advance of Thursday's game against the Flames.

Coyotes' Gormley Out Tuesday

News: Brandon Gormley will not play Tuesday due to a lower-body injury, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.
Analysis: The extent of Brandon Gormley's injury is uncertain, so it remains to be seen if he will be sidelined beyond Tuesday. Philip Samuelsson will likely replace Gormley in the lineup for Tuesday's game.

Gormley Makes Major Impact In Return For 'Yotes

News: Brandon Gormley scored a goal, handed out an assist and went plus-4 Tuesday in his first game back with the Coyotes since being recalled from his AHL conditioning assignment.
Analysis: He'd been out for more than a month thanks to a lower-body injury, dating back to another game against Edmonton back on Nov. 16, when Brandon Gormley also scored a goal. In such a small sample, it's hard to say whether Gormley's three points in seven games represent offensive advancement or statistical noise, but we'll be monitoring the former No. 13 overall pick.

Coyotes Recall Gormley

News: Brandon Gormley was recalled from AHL Portland on Monday, the San Francisco Chroncile reports.
Analysis: Brandon Gormley's recall is likely to add depth and could indicated that Michael Stone (upper body) won't be available Tuesday. He could draw into the lineup if it's revealed that one of the other six defensemen is dealing with an injury as well.

Coyotes Activate, Reassign Gormley

News: Brandon Gormley (lower body) was activated from injured reserve and assigned to AHL Portland, Corey Pronman of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: It sounds like it could be a de facto conditioning stint for Brandon Gormley, who is ready to play again after missing the last month with the lower-body injury. Once he gets a few games under his belt in the minors to regain his wind, Gormley could be recalled to slot back in on the Coyotes' blue line. He has a lone point in his six games with Arizona this season.

Coyotes' Gormley Practicing

News: Brandon Gormley (lower body) rotated in with the third pairing at Wednesday's practice, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.
Analysis: It doesn't appear Brandon Gormley will be ready to go in time for Thursday's game against the Predators, but he does seem to be closing in on a return. The Coyotes could activate him in advance of Saturday's game versus the Wild if he continues to progress well.

Coyotes' Gormley Making Progress

News: Brandon Gormley (lower body) has been progressing with his recovery but isn't being considered day-to-day just yet, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.
Analysis: Brandon Gormley was able to skate with the team during their morning session, signaling that a return to practice might not be that far off. That being said, it looks like he could be forced to miss a few more games before returning, pushing his total length of absence back at least until next week.

Coyotes' Gormley Still Not Practicing

News: Brandon Gormley (lower body) still isn't practicing, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.
Analysis: Brandon Gormley was only expected to miss about a week after he was placed on injured reserve Nov. 18, but the Coyotes have since downgraded his condition to "week-to-week." He won't have a more definitive return date until he resumes skating.

Coyotes' Gormley Out At Least A Week

News: Brandon Gormley will miss at least a week with a lower-body injury, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.
Analysis: That timetable was made apparent when Brandon Gormley was placed on injured reserve by the Coyotes earlier in the day, but there won't be a more premise estimate on the defenseman's return date until the results of his medical tests become available. He bagged his first goal of the season Saturday against the Oilers, but evidently wasn't able to finish the game at full strength.

Coyotes Place Gormley On Injured Reserve

News: The Coyotes placed Brandon Gormley on injured reserve Tuesday with an undisclosed injury, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.
Analysis: It's not clear what type of setback Brandon Gormley is dealing with, but he will be out at least a week. David Schlemko was recalled from AHL Portland to take Gormley's place on the roster.

Coyotes' Gormley Scores First NHL Goal In Win

News: Brandon Gormley scored his first NHL goal on the power play Sunday in a 2-1 win over Edmonton. He took two shots, added one hit, and four blocked shots in the contest.
Analysis: Brandon Gormley, who has been a well-regarded prospect for the Coyotes, displaced veteran David Schlemko a couple of weeks ago and seems to be getting his legs under him. Gormley put up 36 points in 54 games for AHL Portland last year, so it is worth watching whether he can translate that upside to the highest level.

Coyotes' Gormley Makes Season Debut

News: Brandon Gormley made his season debut for the Coyotes on Tuesday in a win over the Leafs. He played just 9:43 and had two PIM.
Analysis: Brandon Gormley has been a well-regarded prospect for the Coyotes, but hasn't been able to crack the lineup regularly. The Coyotes are looking for a third pairing of defensemen to take some pressure off of their top four and Gormley could be in the mix if he shows Coach Dave Tippett that he is ready to step up.

Coyotes Recall Gormley From AHL

News: Gormely was recalled from AHL Portland on Monday.
Analysis: The defenseman appeared in five games for the Coyotes last season, registering two penalty minutes and a plus-four rating. In six games for Portland this season, he has one goal and two assists while posting a minus-two rating.

Coyotes Send Gormley To AHL

News: Brandon Gormley was reassigned to AHL Portland on Thursday.
Analysis: Brandon Gormley was essentially battling fellow young blueliner Connor Murphy for a gig with the Coyotes, and it appears Murphy won out. Though his defense remains a work in progress, Gormley will bring a load of offensive upside once he earns a permanent stay in Arizona.

Coyotes' Gormley Reassigned

News: Brandon Gormley was reassigned to AHL Portland on Tuesday.
Analysis: With the Coyotes' season now complete, the team will reassign some of their younger players to the minors to log further action. Brandon Gormley failed to provide any points over his five games with the Coyotes this season, but did finish with a plus-4 rating while he was on the ice.

Coyotes' Gormley Makes NHL Debut

News: Brandon Gormley, the Coyotes' first round pick in 2010, made his NHL debut Monday in place of Derek Morris in a win over Tampa Bay. He was plus-1 and registered one shot in 13:22 of ice time.
Analysis: Brandon Gormley has 34 points and a minus-22 rating in 52 games for AHL Portland this season.
