Flyers' Gudas (Knee) To Skate In A Few Weeks

News: Radko Gudas (knee) is set to start skating in a few weeks, Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Analysis: Radko Gudas isn't necessarily expected to return this season, which prompted the Lightning to make a move to improve along the blue line. That move came in the form of a trade with the Flyers, sending Gudas and two draft picks to the club in exchange for the Flyers' Braydon Coburn. The Flyers don't currently figure into the playoff picture, but Gudas is under contract for another season, and the two draft picks should help the Flyers build toward the future.

Flyers Acquire Gudas

News: Radko Gudas (knee) was acquired by the Flyers along with two draft picks for Braydon Coburn, TSN.ca reports.
Analysis: The Bolts weren't planning on getting Radko Gudas back on the ice before the end of the regular season, prompting the need to get an upgrade for the blue line. Gudas may prove capable of matching Coburn's offensive production, while his physical presence should ultimately prove beneficial to the Flyers once he's healthy.

Bolts' Gudas Off Crutches

News: Radko Gudas (knee) is no longer using crutches, but is without a timetable for a return, Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Analysis: Though the Lightning haven't offered a definitive timetable on Radko Gudas and probably won't have one until he starts skating again, it's likely safe to say at this point that he won't be back for the end of the regular season. Instead, Gudas seems to be turning his attention to the playoffs, where the Lightning figure to be one of the favorites to come out of the Eastern Conference. If his team can stay alive in the dance long enough and he makes ample progress in his recovery, Gudas could provide an unexpected lift to the Tampa Bay blue line.

Bolts' Gudas (Knee) Placed On IR

News: Radko Gudas (knee) was placed on injured reserve Saturday, the NHL's official media site reports.
Analysis: It was only a matter of time before the Bolts moved Radko Gudas to IR, as he was ruled out for the rest of the regular season Tuesday after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his right knee. The Lightning figure to call up either an extra forward or defenseman Saturday to fill his roster spot.

Lightning's Gudas Out Four Months

News: Radko Gudas will miss about four months after undergoing knee surgery Tuesday, Erik Erlendsson of The Tampa Tribune reports.
Analysis: While Radko Gudas has not been ruled out for the season, his regular season is almost certainly over, as there are just over three months of games left before the playoffs begin. Gudas is not a major fantasy contributor in standard formats, but had established himself as a huge source for hits, PIM and blocks during his short NHL career, so fantasy owners will have to look elsewhere for those specialty stats.

Gudas (Knee) Set To Undergo Surgery

News: Radko Gudas (knee) will undergo arthroscopic surgery Tuesday, Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune reports.
Analysis: Radko Gudas, who missed his third straight game Sunday night, suffered the knee injury last Monday against the Hurricanes. Little is known about his condition, but he'll likely miss a considerable chunk of time. The team is expected to provide a return timetable following the procedure. In Gudas' absence, the Lightning recalled Nikita Nesterov from AHL Syraucse on New Year's Eve, and the 21-year-old will likely remain with the team for the near future.

Lightning's Gudas (Lower Body) Out Sunday

News: Radko Gudas didn't skate for a second consecutive day Sunday and will miss Sunday night's game against the Senators, Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Times reports.
Analysis: Radko Gudas will miss his third straight game due to the lower-body injury he suffered against the Hurricanes on Monday. The defenseman's next chance to return will come Tuesday against the Canadiens.

Bolts' Gudas Likely To Miss Third Straight

News: Radko Gudas (lower body) isn't expected to play Sunday against the Senators, Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune reports.
Analysis: The Bolts are still considering Radko Gudas day-to-day, but he has yet to return to the ice since injuring himself in Monday's game against the Hurricanes. The Lightning will need to see the blueliner participate in a practice or two before he reenters the lineup.

Bolts' Gudas (Lower Body) Out Friday

News: Radko Gudas (lower body) will remain out of the lineup Friday against the Penguins, Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Analysis: Radko Gudas will miss his second straight game to the injury, but is still being viewed as day-to-day by the Bolts. He said he hopes to be available for Sunday's game against the Senators, but his status will likely hinge on his performance during Saturday's practice.

Bolts' Gudas To Miss Wednesday's Game

News: Radko Gudas (undisclosed) will not be available for Wednesday's game against the Sabres, Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune reports.
Analysis: Radko Gudas missed the Bolts' optional morning skate, but it was believed to be just by choice rather than as the result of an injury. Evidently, he's feeling a bit banged up following Monday's game against the Maple Leafs, during which he racked up six shots, four hits and three blocks. Nikita Nesterov was recalled from AHL Syracuse and will fill Gudas' spot in the lineup Wednesday.

Bolts' Gudas Healthy And Ready To Play

News: Radko Gudas (illness) will return to the lineup Friday against the Devils, Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune reports.
Analysis: A bout with the stomach flu had forced Radko Gudas out of the previous three games, but the time off has granted him enough time to regain energy. Gudas ranks fifth among all NHL defensemen with 91 hits and leads all Tampa blueliners with 54 blocked shots on the season.

Bolts' Gudas To Sit Out Tuesday

News: Radko Gudas (illness) will be scratched for Tuesday's game against the Flyers, Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Analysis: While Radko Gudas was able to take part in the Lightning's pregame warmup, he didn't skate as part of a regular pairing. He'll miss his third straight game as a result, but seemingly has a good shot at returning to action Friday in New Jersey.

Bolts' Gudas Questionable Tuesday

News: Radko Gudas (illness) is questionable to play Tuesday against the Flyers, Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune reports.
Analysis: A stomach bug has kept Radko Gudas out of action for the Bolts' last two games, but there's some optimism that it might be behind him. However, since the team didn't hold a morning skate Tuesday, his status likely won't be known until the Bolts conduct pregame warmups.

Lightning's Gudas Sits Out Monday

News: Radko Gudas (illness) is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Penguins, reports Erik Erlendsson of The Tampa Tribune.
Analysis: Radko Gudas missed a second straight game due to his illness. Consider him questionable for Tampa Bay's next game Tuesday.

Bolts' Gudas (Illness) Out Saturday

News: Radko Gudas is out Saturday against the Capitals with a stomach virus, Brian Burns of NHL.com.
Analysis: Fortunately for Radko Gudas, it doesn't sound like the illness is related to the mumps epidemic that has taken the league by storm. This shouldn't be a long-term thing, so there's a good chance Gudas will be ready to play in time for the Lightning's next game, Monday at the Penguins.

Bolts' Gudas Bags First Goal

News: Radko Gudas found the net on one of his four shots on goal in Saturday's win over the Islanders.
Analysis: It was the first goal of the season for Radko Gudas, who has played the part of enforcer on the back end while defensive partner Jason Garrison functions as the puck-mover. Gudas has piled up the hits (54), blocks (28) and penalty minutes (26) to compensate for his lack of scoring, giving him a decent amount of value in specialty formats.

Bolts' Gudas Active In Return

News: Radko Gudas (lower body) provided a little bit of everything in his return to action Friday versus the Jets. In his 15:43 of ice time, he logged nine penalty minutes, three hits, four blocks and two shots on goal.
Analysis: After missing the previous four games with the lower-body injury, it didn't take long for Radko Gudas to reassert himself. His signature moment of the night came in the second period when he got in a skirmish with the Jets' Dustin Byfuglien. Now that he's healthy, expect Gudas to pile up the production in the specialty categories with a dash of scoring on occasion as well.

Bolts' Gudas Draws Back In Friday

News: Radko Gudas (lower body) has been activated from injured reserve and will play Friday against the Jets, Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune reports.
Analysis: The Bolts cleared up the spot for Radko Gudas' return by sending Luke Witkowski to AHL Syracuse on Thursday. Gudas isn't a premier scorer from the blue line, but his outstanding production in the PIM, hit and block categories make him highly useful in specialty leagues.

Bolts' Gudas Expected To Play Friday

News: Radko Gudas (lower body) could be on track to return to the Bolts' lineup Friday against the Jets, Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune reports.
Analysis: Radko Gudas was skating as part of a regular pair with Jason Garrison at Thursday's practice, a strong sign that coach Jon Cooper believes he'll be available for the team's next game. Tampa Bay placed Gudas on injured reserve Tuesday, but because his retroactive date of Oct. 13 is more than seven days ago, he'll be eligible to play immediately upon his activation.

Bolts' Gudas Doubtful For Tuesday

News: Radko Gudas (lower body) is doubtful to play Tuesday versus the Flames, Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune reports.
Analysis: Radko Gudas was generally expected to return to action in time for Monday's tilt with the Oilers, but he hasn't quite progressed as quickly as the Bolts had anticipated. While a long-term absence looks to be off the table for the blueliner, he'll still head off to the press box for his fourth consecutive contest.

Bolts Place Gudas On IR

News: Radko Gudas (lower body) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday, Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Analysis: Since Radko Gudas ruled out Tuesday for the fourth straight game and has a retroactive date of Oct. 13, the Lightning will be able to activate him from IR as soon as he's deemed ready to go, which could happen later this week. The roster move will allow the team to recall forward Michael Blunden from AHL Syracuse as a depth option.

Bolts' Gudas Plans To Return Monday

News: Radko Gudas (lower body) expects to return to the lineup Monday against the Oilers, Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune reports.
Analysis: Radko Gudas skated on his own Saturday morning and said he felt that his condition had improved, though not to the extent that he could play later that night against the Canucks. The blueliner will attempt to take part in a full practice Sunday, and if all goes well, he'll be back on the ice for Monday's game.

Bolts Hold Gudas Out Saturday

News: Radko Gudas (lower body) looks to be unavailable for Saturday's tilt with the Canucks, Eric Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune reports.
Analysis: Radko Gudas skated on his own in full gear before Tampa's morning session, but didn't stick around to participate in the team skate. Consequently, he'll sit out for the second straight game, with Andrej Sustr likely to claim Gudas' spot in the Bolts' lineup.

Lightning's Gudas (Lower Body) Likely Out Saturday

News: Radko Gudas (lower body) didn't practice Friday and is most likely doubtful for Saturday's game, Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune reports.
Analysis: Radko Gudas sat out of Tuesday's contest with a lower-body injury and it will likely hold him out Saturday as well. The 24-year-old defenseman has taken just two shots this season and hasn't recorded a point, while recording a goal differential of minus-1. However, he does have 15 hits.

Bolts' Gudas Sits With Lower-Body Injury

News: Radko Gudas was held out of Tuesday's game against the Devils due to a lower-body injury.
Analysis: Radko Gudas was surprisingly absent from pregame warmups after coach Jon Cooper told reporters at the team's morning skate not to expect any lineup changes. However, it appears Gudas came out of Tuesday's game feeling a bit banged up, and in need of further time to rest. The Bolts are labeling him as day-to-day for the time being.
