Panthers' Gudbranson (Hand) Out Saturday

News: Erik Gudbranson (hand) will not play in Saturday's season finale against Tampa Bay, the Miami Herald's George Richards reports.
Analysis: Erik Gudbranson has not played in over a week and will finish the season with four assists and 47 PIMs in 32 games. He should be healthy well before the start of the 2013-14 campaign.

Panthers' Gudbranson Out Tuesday

News: Erik Gudbranson (hand) will not play in Tuesday's game against the Rangers, Christina De Nicola of the Miami Herald reports.
Analysis: There was a chance Erik Gudbranson could have played Tuesday, but it appears he will sit out for the third straight game. Colby Robak will be recalled from AHL San Antonio to provide some depth on the blue line.

Panthers' Gudbranson Could Play Tuesday

News: Erik Gudbranson (hand) could be back Tuesday against the Rangers, the Miami Herald's George Richards reports.
Analysis: With just four points and a minus-22 rating in 32 games to date, Erik Gudbranson hasn't made much of a fantasy impact in formats that don't count his PIMs (47) or hits (80).

Panthers' Gudbranson (Hand) Out For Two Weekend Games

News: Erik Gudbranson (hand) will miss games Saturday and Sunday, the Miami Herald reports.
Analysis: Erik Gudbranson first suffered the injury in Thursday's loss to the Rangers and after sitting out Friday's practice, he's already been ruled out for weekend games against the Devils and Bruins. Fortunately for Gudbranson, the team has ruled out a long-term injury, though that probably doesn't mean much to Gudbranson's few fantasy owners who might not have him available for the rest of the season if the injury lingers into next week.

Panthers' Gudbranson Misses Practice Friday

News: Erik Gudbranson (hand) missed practice Friday for the Panthers, according to George Richards of the Miami Herald.
Analysis: Erik Gudbranson suffered the injury near the end of Wednesday's game. The Panthers play on Saturday night against the Devils and his status is uncertain at this point and he should still be considered day-to-day.

Panthers' Gudbranson Leaves Thursday

News: Erik Gudbranson appeared to injure either his wrist or hand towards the end of Thursday's 6-1 loss to the Rangers, the Miami Herald's George Richards reports.
Analysis: The extent and nature of the injury are unknown, so Gudbrandson can be considered day-to-day until more information is available. He has just four points in 32 games this season.

Panthers' Gudbranson Back In Business

News: Erik Gudbranson saw 14:37 worth of ice time Tuesday against the Leafs.
Analysis: Erik Gudbranson is over his bout with the flu, but with four points and a minus-16 rating in 23 games to date, he hasn't been much of a fantasy factor this season.

Panthers' Gudbranson Sits Sunday

News: Erik Gudbranson (flu) won't play Sunday against the Islanders, George Richards of the Miami Herald reports.
Analysis: Erik Gudbranson, who also missed Saturday's game, remains in the day-to-day category for the Panthers for now.

Panthers' Gudbranson (Illness) Out Saturday, Doubtful For Sunday

News: Erik Gudbranson (illness) will not play Saturday and is doubtful for Sunday's game as well, George Richards of the Miami Herald reports.
Analysis: It looks like Erik Gudbranson's illness could keep him from both of the Panthers' games this weekend. Consider him day-to-day.

Panthers' Gudbranson Ill

News: Erik Gudbranson (illness) is a game-time decision for Saturday's game against New Jersey, Miami Herald writer George Richards reports.
Analysis: Erik Gudbranson has seen a nice minute count this year, but with just four points (all assists) in 22 games, any absence likely wouldn't affect fantasy leagues all that much.

Panthers' Gudbranson Logs 21 Minutes Thursday

News: Erik Gudbranson (shoulder) played 21:02 and finished with an even rating Thursday night.
Analysis: It's surprising that he's seeing such an increase in minutes after playing 14:12/game last season over 72 contests, but considering his eight-point output a year ago, there does not seem to be much to get excited about here.

Gudbranson Set To Return To Panthers

News: The Panthers expect to have Erik Gudbranson (shoulder) back on Tuesday against the Jets, although they are unsure whether or not he will play, reports George Richards of the Miami Herald.
Analysis: Erik Gudbranson, who needed shoulder surgery in September after being injured in a wakeboarding accident, was suspended during the NHL lockout and subsequently assigned to AHL San Antonio. He recorded just two goals and six assists in 72 games last season with the Panthers, but there remains plenty of room for growth for the No. 3 overall pick in the 2010 NHL Draft.

Panthers' Gudbranson (Shoulder) Taken Off Suspension

News: Erik Gudbranson (shoulder) was taken off suspension by the Panthers on Wednesday, the Harvey Fialkov of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Analysis: The team suspended Erik Gudbranson for injuring himself while wakeboarding, but it seems they feel he's been sufficiently punished. The 21-year-old defenseman was also sent to AHL San Antonio on loan Wednesday -- likely to shake the rust after missing time with a shoulder injury -- but he'll probably rejoin the Panthers in Winnipeg on Tuesday.

Panthers' Gudbranson Sent To AHL On Loan

News: Erik Gudbranson (shoulder) was sent to AHL San Antonio on loan Wednesday, Harvey Fialkov of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Analysis: A return to the team Sunday still seems possible, but Erik Gudbranson will head to the AHL for what appears to be a short rehab stint.

Panthers' Gudbranson Expected Back For Road Trip

News: Erik Gudbranson (shoulder) could be available for the Panthers' upcoming road trip, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports.
Analysis: Erik Gudbranson continues to make progress in his recovery from a shoulder injury and seems poised to join the team in Buffalo on Sunday, where it begins the four-game road swing. Though Gudbranson is with the team, he's been suspended without pay since he acquired the injury while wakeboarding, breaching the terms of his contract.

Panthers' Gudbranson (Shoulder) To Miss At Least Another Week

News: Erik Gudbranson (shoulder) will miss at least another week, the Miami Herald reports.
Analysis: Erik Gudbranson still need additional recovery time from the offseason shoulder injury he acquired while wakeboarding, making it unlikely he returns until February. Once healthy, Gudbranson figures to be a member of the team's third defensive pairing.

Gudbranson To Miss Panthers' Opener

News: Erik Gudbranson (shoulder) will miss the first three games of the season according to coach Kevin Dineen, via George Richards of the Miami Herald.
Analysis: Erik Gudbranson is currently suspended for suffering a non-hockey related injury while wakeboarding last year. The loss of Gudbranson leaves the Panthers roster light, due to injuries to Marcel Goc and Sean Burgenheim.

Panthers' Gudbranson To Have Shoulder Evaluated Sunday

News: Erik Gudbranson will have surgically-repaired shoulder evaluated by the team's medical staff Sunday, the Miami Herald reports.
Analysis: The Panthers have suspended Erik Gudbranson without pay for injuring the shoulder during a wakeboarding accident. The suspension will last until Gudbranson is cleared to play, however, so the injury rather than the punishment will be the culprit if he's forced to miss any games.

Panthers' Gudbranson (Shoulder) Receives Positive Report From Surgeon

News: Erik Gudbranson (shoulder) received a positive report on his recovery from a team surgeon Tuesday, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports. "I'm going to expand the workout further from where I was yesterday and hopefully be in the lineup as soon as possible," Gudbranson said. "I went into the corner with [Scottie Upshall] today and gave him a little shot and it felt good."
Analysis: Erik Gudbranson isn't out of the woods completely, as he hasn't been officially cleared for contact. With training camp cut shorter than normal this season, Gudbranson might require a little more practice time before the team feels comfortable using him in games.

Gudbranson Not Cleared For Contact

News: Contrary to prior reports, Erik Gudbranson (shoulder) has not been cleared for contact, according to the Sun-Sentinel.
Analysis: Erik Gudbranson hurt his shoulder wakeboarding and had surgery in September. He was suspended for injuring himself in non-hockey related activities. He is likely to start the season in San Antonio and the Panthers' AHL affiliate.

Panthers' Gudbranson (Shoulder) Cleared For Contact

News: Erik Gudbranson (shoulder) has been cleared for contact after being out since August, the Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel reports.
Analysis: It would seem Erik Gudbranson would have adequate time to get re-acclimated to full-hockey activities by the time a potential condensed season would begin, thus allowing him not to miss any game time. Gudbranson figures to be a member of the Panthers' third line.

Panthers' Gudbranson (Shoulder) Returns to Ice

News: Erik Gudbranson (shoulder) participated in his first on-ice workout since September, the Miami Herald reports.
Analysis: Erik Gudbranson injured his shoulder in a wakeboarding accident, but hopes to be back to full health by January. "Things are coming along," said Gudbranson. "The training staff I've been working out with at home are great." He'll likely start the season with the Panthers' AHL affiliate in San Antonio even if the lockout ends.

Panthers' Gudbranson (Shoulder) Undergoes Surgery

News: The Panthers have confirmed that Erik Gudbranson sustained a serious shoulder injury and underwent surgery last Thursday, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports.
Analysis: There's no timetable for Gulbranson's return at the moment, but he might not have to miss any time if the start of the NHL season is delayed. His potential absence would allow Keaton Ellerby to attempt to fill in as one of the Panthers' top six blueliners.

Panthers' Gudbranson Injures Shoulder

News: Erik Gudbranson injured his shoulder during a workout this past week, according to the Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel.
Analysis: The Panthers have not yet confirmed the injury, but if it is serious, Erik Gudbranson could miss up to four months.

Gudbranson Strong For Panthers

News: Erik Gudbranson grabbed an assist in Saturday's 3-1 win over New Jersey.
Analysis: Erik Gudbranson has a ton of upside but has been quiet offensively this season. Teammate Jason Garrison left the game early on Saturday and Gudbranson saw decent power play time in the game. If Garrison is out for a bit, Gudbranson could be worth a look in deeper leagues.
