Isles' Leddy An Assist Machine

News: Nick Leddy was credited with two assists and five shot attempts in Saturday's Game 6 win over the Capitals.
Analysis: The blueliner has been an offensive force in the series for the Islanders, as Saturday marked his fourth straight game with an assist. Coach Jack Capuano rewarded Nick Leddy with 28:59 of ice time Saturday, his highest total of the season.

Isles' Leddy Sets Up Goal In Game 3

News: Nick Leddy set up John Tavares' game-winning overtime goal in Sunday's Game 3 against the Capitals.
Analysis: It's Nick Leddy's first point of the postseason, but he's been riding high since the tail end of the regular season, tallying eight assists in his final six contests. He'll make for a good lineup selection in daily formats any night the Islanders play.

Consecutive Two-Assist Games For Isles' Leddy

News: Nick Leddy picked up two assists for the second straight game Thursday in a 4-3 shootout loss to Columbus.
Analysis: Getting traded out of Chicago certainly didn't hurt Nick Leddy's offensive output, as he now has more points this year (33) than he did last season as a Blackhawk (31). Still just 24 years old, Leddy's a reliable offensive performer from the blue line, and it wouldn't be surprising to see his scoring spike toward elite status in the coming years.

Isles' Leddy Collects Two Assists

News: Nick Leddy recorded two assists in Sunday's win over the Red Wings.
Analysis: The two assists snapped a six-game pointless skid for Nick Leddy, who now has 31 points in 73 games on the season. Both of the helpers came on the power play, where he lines up alongside John Tavares and Kyle Okposo. Averaging 20:15 of ice time, the 24-year-old is a reliable offensive defenseman who delivers fairly consistent production.

Threats Against Isles' Leddy Being Investigated

News: Local and federal authorities are investigating Twitter threats made against Nick Leddy, according to Newsday.
Analysis: The Twitter account has now been suspended but apparently Nick Leddy's Minnesota driver's license and one of his credit cards were posted along with threats of violence. Leddy, who returned to the Islanders' lineup on March 21 after missing four games due to an upper-body injury, has recorded 10 goals and 29 points in 70 games in his first season with the team.

Leddy Back In Isles' Uniform Saturday

News: Nick Leddy returned to the Islanders' lineup Saturday after missing four games due to an upper-body injury. He had one blocked shot in 21:18 of ice time.
Analysis: Use him as you normally would -- he's good to go.

Isles' Leddy Will Play Saturday

News: Nick Leddy (upper body) will return to the Islanders' lineup Saturday against the Devils.
Analysis: Nick Leddy missed just a shade under two weeks due to the injury. With the Isles riding a four-game losing streak, Leddy's return should represent a welcome development, as he checks in as the team's second-best scorer from the blue line this season with 29 points in 68 games. Calvin de Haan will head back to the press box to carve out room for Leddy on one of the top two defensive pairings.

Isles' Leddy Nears Return

News: Nick Leddy (upper body) is a candidate to return to action Saturday against New Jersey.
Analysis: Per coach Jack Capuano, word on that front should arrive later Thursday, when Nick Leddy is evaluated by team doctors. The blueliner was a full participant in practices Wednesday and Thursday, so even if he ends up being ruled out for Saturday's game, a return seems to be in the offing. Leddy last suited up March 9; since then, the Isles have lost four straight games.

Isles' Leddy Practices

News: Nick Leddy (upper body) practiced with the Islanders on Wednesday, according to the Islanders web site.
Analysis: The Islanders don't play again until Saturday versus the Devils so it looks like Nick Leddy will be able to get back into the lineup. The Islanders have been scuffling of late, but it's been more on the offense than the defense as they have only scored four goals in their last four games.

Isles' Leddy Out Tuesday

News: Nick Leddy (upper body) won't play Tuesday against Chicago, according to CSN's Tracey Myers.
Analysis: Nick Leddy is traveling with the Islanders, so it's possible that he could return as soon as Saturday's game against New Jersey if he ends up practicing later this week.

Isles' Leddy Traveling With Team

News: Nick Leddy (upper body) is traveling with the team to Chicago, according to Newsday's Arthur Staple.
Analysis: Nick Leddy still isn't expected to play Tuesday versus the Blackhawks but there have been rumors that he won't be out as long as originally thought. It's unusual for an injured player to travel with the team which will lead some to think he could play but remember, Leddy was acquired via trade from Chicago before the season started, so the Islanders just may be doing him a favor by taking him to their only trip to the windy city this season.

Isles' Leddy Skates Saturday

News: Nick Leddy (upper body) skated on his own prior to Saturday's morning session.
Analysis: It's Nick Leddy's first on-ice activity since suffering a leg injury in Monday's game against the Maple Leafs. The Islanders project him to miss two weeks with the injury, but if he's able to resume practicing early next week, it's possible that his absence length could be cut in half.

Isles' Leddy Out Two Weeks

News: Nick Leddy (upper body) is expected to be out for the next two weeks, according to Newsday's Arthur Staple.
Analysis: Nick Leddy suffered the injury in Monday's game against the Maple Leafs, which prevented him from playing a night later against the Rangers. The blueliner's arrival on Long Island this season has really helped an Islanders squad that had previously been overmatched defensively, earning him a lucrative contract extension in February. Leddy's absence will be sorely missed, as he plays on both special teams units while covering about 20 minutes per night. Look for Leddy's replacement in the lineup Tuesday, Brian Strait, to be the primary recipient of additional minutes in his stead.

Isles Rule Leddy Out Tuesday

News: Nick Leddy (leg) isn't on the ice for pregame warmups and will not play Tuesday against the Rangers, Arthur Staple of Newsday reports.
Analysis: Nick Leddy's absence will snap his streak of 320 consecutive games played, which dates back to his rookie season with the Blackhawks in 2010-11. The Islanders don't seem to consider his injury a long-term concern at this time, so there's some hope that he'll be able to return to action by the weekend. Brian Strait will assume his spot in the lineup Tuesday.

Isles' Leddy A Game-Time Call Tuesday

News: Nick Leddy (leg) will be a game-time decision for Tuesday's tilt with the Rangers.
Analysis: The Islanders didn't hold a morning skate Tuesday after having played Monday against the Maple Leafs, when Nick Leddy missed the final period after suffering a leg injury. As a result, Leddy's status likely won't become available until pregame warmups, making him a risky lineup option for those playing in daily leagues. If he can't go, Matt Donovan or Brian Strait would assume his spot in the lineup.

Isles' Leddy Leaves Game Early

News: Nick Leddy missed the third period of Tuesday's game against the Maple Leafs with what looks like a leg injury, according to Newsday.
Analysis: It appears Nick Leddy was injured when he took a slash to the back of the leg. There is no word yet as to whether or not Leddy will play Tuesday versus the Rangers, but the Islanders should have an update on his condition before that time.

Leddy Grabs Two Points In Isles' Win

News: Nick Leddy picked up a goal and a power-play assist Thursday in a 4-3 win over the Predators.
Analysis: Although Nick Leddy's point-collecting pace is fairly modest -- he has just 28 points in 66 games -- he's put nine pucks into the net, and there simply aren't that many defensemen who pot double-digit goals. Better news for keeper-league owners: Still a couple weeks shy of his 24th birthday, the former 16th overall pick has offensive potential that's yet to be realized.

Leddy Signs Extension With Islanders

News: The Islanders signed Nick Leddy to a seven-year, $38.5 million contract extension Tuesday, the team's official site reports.
Analysis: The team's decision to acquire the 23-year-old Nick Leddy from the Blackhawks prior to the season appears to have paid off, as he's rewarded the Islanders with 25 points and a plus-12 rating in 61 games. The new deal will prevent Leddy from hitting free agency and lock him up with the Isles through the 2021-22 season.

Leddy's Three Points Power Isles To Win

News: Nick Leddy handed out two assists -- one on the man advantage -- and tallied a goal of his own Thursday in a win over the Predators.
Analysis: With the Isles and Nick Leddy discussing a contract extension, the talented defenseman picked a good time to end his eight-game scoreless skid in grand fashion. He'll easily surpass last season's 31 points, but will need a strong finish to best his career-high 37, set in 2011-12 with the Blackhawks.

Isles Trying To Lock Up Leddy Long Term

News: The Islanders and Nick Leddy are in negotiations for a long term contract extension, according to the SNY.tv.
Analysis: A big part of the Islanders success this season has been credited to the acquisition of Nick Leddy and fellow defenseman Johnny Boychuk. Leddy is expected to command somewhere in the neighborhood of $5 million a season.

Isles' Leddy Nabs PP Assist In Win

News: Nick Leddy collected a power-play assist in Tuesday's loss to the Panthers.
Analysis: Nick Leddy has already tied a personal best with seven goals this season, but it remains up in the air if he can surpass the career-high 37 points he achieved in 2011-12. The blueliner's consistency as a scorer has been his best attribute thus far, as he's gone no more than four games this season without providing a point.

Isles' Leddy Scores And Assists In Win

News: Nick Leddy potted a goal, added an assist, and finished with a plus-4 rating in Monday's 7-4 win over the Flyers.
Analysis: Nick Leddy's goal was his seventh of the year, tying his career-high output from last season. He's got 21 points on the year and has provided decent offensive production from the blueline.

Isles' Leddy Adds Assist To Ledger

News: Nick Leddy tallied an assist in Wednesday's 5-2 win over the Jets.
Analysis: Nick Leddy was charged with five giveaways on the evening, but for fantasy purposes, the fact the picked up a point carries more weight. He's been struggling to score over the last couple of weeks, but with 17 points and a plus-9 rating through 37 games, he's been decently useful so far this season.

Isles' Leddy Notches Two Helpers Saturday

News: Nick Leddy assisted on two of the Islanders' four goals in Saturday's loss to the Blues.
Analysis: Nick Leddy has seen his minutes rise of late with the Islanders missing all of Travis Hamonic, Lubomir Visnovsky and Johnny Boychuk out with injuries. Both Hamonic and Boychuk are expected to miss multiple weeks, leaving Leddy to serve as the team's top producer on the blue line until further notice. The move to Long Island has proven kind to him so far this season, as he's compiled five goals and 13 points to go along with a plus-10 rating over 27 games.

Isles' Leddy Bags Fourth Goal

News: Nick Leddy was one of six Islanders to find the net in Tuesday's shutout win over the Avalanche.
Analysis: Nick Leddy has netted just three points in his last nine games, but still remains in good shape to top last season's mark of 31 points in 82 games. While he's surprisingly noticed a drop in power-play time with the move from Chicago to Long Island, Leddy has noticed a nearly three-minute rise in his even-strength ice time, giving him more opportunities to pile up counting stats.
