Isles' Leddy Settling In

News: Nick Leddy bagged the game's first goal in Tuesday's 5-2 loss to the Maple Leafs.
Analysis: Nick Leddy fired a wrist shot from the slot past Toronto's Jonathan Bernier for his third goal and fourth point in four games. He appears to be adapting quite well in moving from Chicago to Long Island, as he's seen an increase in scoring opportunities while averaging three minutes more ice time with the Isles.

Leddy Notches Two Points For Isles

News: Nick Leddy scored a goal and added an assist Thursday in a shootout win over San Jose.
Analysis: Two days after scoring his first goal with the Isles, Nick Leddy came right back with his second. He should continue seeing plenty of offensive opportunities, so Leddy has a legitimate chance to exceed his career high of 37 points as long as he holds his top-pairing position.

Leddy Registers First Point As An Islander

News: Nick Leddy capped off the Islanders' scoring Tuesday with his first goal of the season in a 6-2 win over the Rangers.
Analysis: Nick Leddy hasn't shined to the extent that fellow late-training camp blue line acquisition Johnny Boychuk (six points in three games) has, but he's still represented an upgrade to the team's defensive unit since coming over from Chicago. He's already averaging nearly two minutes more ice time per game than he enjoyed with the Blackhawks, which should ultimately prove helpful toward his counting totals. Furthermore, if the Islanders' 3-0-0 start doesn't prove to be too much of a mirage, Leddy may become an unexpected asset in the plus/minus category as well.

Blackhawks Deal Leddy To Islanders

News: Nick Leddy was traded to the Islanders on Saturday, Mark Lazerus of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. In return, the Blackhawks will receive prospects Ville Pokka and T.J. Brennan and goalie Anders Nilsson, according to Arthur Staple of Newsday.
Analysis: The Islanders' blue line was a major weakness for the team heading into training camp, and even more so with several key members (Lubomir Visnovsky, Calvin de Haan, Matt Carkner) entering the season at uncertain health. In acquiring Nick Leddy (along with Johnny Boychuk from the Bruins earlier in the day), the Islanders not only get healthy bodies into the fold, but offer improved protection for netminder Jaroslav Halak. The Blackhawks will be able to get under the salary cap by trading away Leddy, who was due to make $2.7 million this season. Leddy figures to assume a top-four role for the Islanders, where another 30-point season should be attainable.

Hawks' Leddy Could be Headed Out Of Town

News: Nick Leddy has been a healthy scratch in the final two preseason games and could be traded as late as Tuesday, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Analysis: The Blackhawks are over the salary cap and need to reach it by Tuesday afternoon, and Nick Leddy could be the victim. He is in the final year of a two-year contract that pays him $2.7 million this season. In addition, the Blackhawks recalled defenseman Klas Dahlbeck from AHL Rockford earlier in the week, and he skated for more than 22 minutes in the final preseason game, a 3-2 loss to the Rangers. In response to a question about Leddy's future with the team, Hawks coach Joel Quenneville just said, "We'll see." Leddy collected seven goals and 24 assists last season, his fourth with the Blackhawks.

Chicago's Leddy To Reenter Lineup For Game 4

News: Nick Leddy will reenter the lineup Friday against the Wild, Mark Lazerus of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Analysis: A healthy scratch in Game 3 as coach Joel Quenneville decided to use Sheldon Brookbank, Nick Leddy will slot back in on the third pairing for Game 4, as the Blackhawks look to recapture the winning formula that allowed them to claim Games 1 and 2. Leddy's had a relatively quiet postseason as a whole with no goals and two assists in eight games, but he's been a little more effective in other facets, logging four PIM, three hits and eight blocked shots.

Blackhawks' Leddy: Two Helpers In Win

News: Nick Leddy supplied two assists in Wednesday's 4-0 win over the Blues.
Analysis: Nick Leddy has adjusted to a new partner on defense the last few games, with Sheldon Brookbank replacing the injured Michal Rozsival, but the 23-year-old certainly looked comfortable out there Wednesday night. Despite not seeing heavy minutes on defense for the Blackhawks, Leddy has a very respectable 28 points and plus-14 rating over 70 games.

Hawks' Leddy Ends 18-Game Goal Drought

News: Nick Leddy have a very good night on Monday with a goal and an assist against the Kings as he ended an 18-game goal drought.
Analysis: It was also his first goal in 2014 as he last scored on Dec. 23 against New Jersey. He might be looking at a little bit of a run as he faces the Ducks on Wednesday. Nick Leddy has two goals and three assists in 10 games against Anaheim, one of his best numbers against a team. Despite the drought he tied his career high in goals with six and could surpass his best season, 2011-12, where he had three goals and 34 assists. Leddy has 17 assists this season and he is only 22-years-old.

Blackhawks' Leddy Pots Power-Play Goal

News: Nick Leddy scored a power-play goal and added an even-strength assist in a 5-2 win over the Devils on Monday.
Analysis: Nick Leddy now has four points in his past five game and 16 in 38 games on the season. He has been a decent fantasy contributor this season, and at age 22, he still likely has his best seasons in front of him.

Blackhawks' Leddy Snaps Mini Slump

News: Nick Leddy ended a four-game pointless streak Thursday with two assists in a shootout win over Phoenix.
Analysis: He's been a steady, if unspectacular contributor from the blue line, offering decent help in points and plus-minus. That's all you can ask for from your third or fourth defenseman in fantasy.

Hawks' Leddy Has Big Night

News: Nick Leddy scored twice and added an assist in Saturday's 4-3 OT win over Washington.
Analysis: He's coming off a queasy performance in the postseason, but still snagged a ring. The Hawks re-upped him this summer despite his poor performance -- they must believe he's going to rebound.

Blackhawks Re-Sign Leddy

News: Nick Leddy signed a two-year contract extension with the Blackhawks on Wednesday, CSNChicago.com reports.
Analysis: In the final year of a three-year contract Nick Leddy signed back in 2010, the 22-year-old defenseman put up 18 points (6G, 12A) and a plus-15 rating in 48 regular season games for the Blackhawks. He struggled a bit in the playoffs, however, with just two points (both assists) and a minus-8 rating in 23 games, but it clearly wasn't enough to deter the team from re-upping Leddy's deal.

Hawks' Leddy Expected To Get More Minutes Game 5

News: Nick Leddy, who was basically benched for most of Game 4 with a little less than three minutes of ice time, is expected to get more ice time for Game 5 on Saturday in the Stanley Cup finals, Hawks' coach Joel Quenneville told ESPN Chicago.
Analysis: Quenneville said the reason that Nick Leddy was on the ice for so few minutes had to do mainly with matchups and how the rest of the Chicago defensemen were playing. It was the lowest amount of ice time in the career for Leddy. His previous low came in a regular season game in 2011 against Detroit with a little more than six minutes.

Leddy's Two Assists Not Enough For Blackhawks

News: Nick Leddy logged two assists during Saturday night's 3-2 shootout loss to the Coyotes. Both helpers came on Chicago power plays.
Analysis: The two points snap an eight-game scoreless string for him. He's not yet an elite blue line scorer, but he's still developing, and it never hurts to be on a powerful roster like this one.

Leddy's Three Points Carry Blackhawks Over Stars

News: Nick Leddy joined the points barrage Saturday as Chicago overwhelmed the Stars in Dallas, 8-1. He posted a goal and two assists, logged two penalty minutes, and finished plus-2.
Analysis: The three-point night is great, but keep in mind that this is his first crooked number of the entire season. He's already matched last year's total of three goals, but his assists pace is down noticeably. He still has plenty of upside, as he's just shy of 22 years old.

Hawks' Leddy Recalled From Rockford

News: Nick Leddy was recalled by the Blackhawks from Rockford of the AHL on Sunday.
Analysis: The 21-year-old blue liner was a big success last season with 37 points (three goals and 34 assists) and skated in all 82 regular-season games for the Blackhawks. It will be interesting to see if his time at Rockford this season will give him an advantage for the shortened NHL season. Nick Leddy ranked second among Rockford defensemen with an AHL-career-high 16 points (third goals and 13 assists).

'Hawks' Leddy Scores 2nd Goal

News: Nick Leddy continues to impress and scored his second goal of the season in the Blackhawks' 5-4 win over the Predators on Monday night.
Analysis: The best scoring Blackhawks' defenseman is not Duncan Keith or Brent Seabrook it is Nick Leddy who matched his point total for the entire 2010-11 season, his rookie year. Leddy had four goals and three assists in 46 games last season. In 11 games skated this season, he has two goals and five assists. In addition he is the only Blackhawks' defenseman who has scored a goal so far this season.

Leddy's Two Helpers Pace Blackhawks

News: Nick Leddy pocketed two assists as Chicago whipped Columbus on Saturday, 5-2. He finished the night plus-1, pushing him to plus-4 on the young season, and led all Chicago skaters with 22:56 of ice time.
Analysis: It's time to give him a decided uptick in your year-long projections. He now has six points (1G, 5A) in 10 games, tying him for the top scoring slot among Blackhawks blueliners. If you fell for Brent Seabrook in your preseason projections, go back and take another look at the two, and see if Nick Leddy might be the better fit for your team.
