News:Gregg McKegg left Saturday's AHL contest against the Rockford IceHogs after absorbing a hard hit in the first period. "He had concussion symptoms and wasn't feeling right," said Marlies' coach Dallas Eakins in a report in the print edition of the Toronto Sun. "That's an immediate shutdown."
Analysis: He was blindsided on the hit. He's been struggling in the AHL this season, in large part because of his sluggish feet. He has only five goals and three assists in 24 games and looks like he'll be out a while.
Leafs' Prospect McKegg Stuggling As First-Year Pro
News:Gregg McKegg has struggled in the AHL this season.
Analysis: Sure, he's still getting his feet wet as a pro, but after an early spurt of four points in five games, he has done nothing in only occasional appearances since Nov. 8. The knock on Gregg McKegg has been his slow feet -- he'll need to work hard to change that to graduate to the NHL.
News: The Leafs have signed McKegg to a three-year entry-level contract, CBC Sports' Jeff Marek reports.
Analysis: McKegg, who was drafted by the Maple Leafs in the third round of the 2010 NHL Draft, finishing the season with a team-leading 49 goals and 92 points for OHL Erie. He will now report to the AHL's Toronto Marlies.
