Hurricanes' Nash Struggling Offensively

News: Riley Nash failed to register a point Thursday against the Maple Leafs, the 10th time in the last 11 games he has been held pointless.
Analysis: Riley Nash has gone ice cold offensively in the last three weeks after notching three goals and eight assists in his first 14 games. Part of the problem is that Nash has been demoted from centering the second line to the third line, meaning he's no longer seeing the same opportunities to contribute offensively. Correspondingly, his ice time has also fallen off, from 18 to 19 minutes per game to the 15- to 16-minute range. For the time being, Nash does not hold the same fantasy appeal he did back in October and November, so feel free to look for other more viable options for your lineup.

Hurricanes' Nash Will Play Saturday

News: Riley Nash will play Saturday against the Hurricanes.
Analysis: Riley Nash left Friday's game following a collision with Pittsburgh's Sidney Crosby, but it does not appears he will miss any further action.

Hurricanes' Nash Exits Friday With Apparent Injury

News: Riley Nash exited Friday's game following a collision with Pittsburgh's Sidney Crosby, the Raleigh News & Observer reports.
Analysis: Head coach Bill Peters did not comment on Riley Nash's status following Friday's game, so it remains to be seen what type of setback he is dealing with, and if he is in any danger of missing Carolina's next game Saturday. Expect an update on Nash's status as more details become available.

Canes' Nash Nabs Two Helpers

News: Riley Nash picked up a pair of assists in Saturday's loss to the Avalanche.
Analysis: Riley Nash has been a pleasant surprise this season, collecting four goals and 15 points in 20 games. Centering the second line and playing on the power play, Nash will almost certainly surpass the career-high 24 points he recorded in 2013-14. He has been one of the Hurricanes' best players this season, leading the team in scoring. The 25-year-old is the real deal, so give him a look if he's available.

Two Points For Hurricanes' Nash In Loss

News: Riley Nash scored his fourth goal of the season and added an assist in Saturday's loss to Washington.
Analysis: Riley Nash has impressed lately, recording two goals and five points in his last five games. He is finding terrific success on the second line alongside Elias Linholm, and is up to 10 points in 13 games on the season. The 25-year-old should easily surpass the career-high 24 points he recorded in 2013-14.

Canes' Nash Stays Hot With Goal

News: Riley Nash added a goal in 18:54 worth of ice time in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Blue Jackets.
Analysis: Riley Nash has now recorded a point in four of the team's last five games, and is one of the few players in Carolina enjoying early season success. With eight points through 11 games and time on the power play unit, Nash is worthy of consideration in deeper leagues.

Canes' Nash Enjoying Early Season Success

News: Riley Nash scored a goal during Friday's 6-3 loss to Edmonton - his fifth point in seven games so far this season.
Analysis: Despite the struggles of the still-winless Hurricanes, Riley Nash has been one of the lone bright spots on the team thus far. With injuries to Eric Staal (upper body) and Jordan Staal (broken leg), Nash has been seeing roughly 18 minutes a night as the team's first-line center, and so far he's been taking advantage of the opportunity. Nash is likely to come back to earth at some point, but fantasy owners in deep leagues may as well enjoy the hot streak while it lasts.

Sabres' Nash Grabs Two Points

News: Riley Nash earned a goal and an assist in Tuesday's 4-3 shootout loss to Buffalo.
Analysis: Riley Nash saw huge minutes in this one -- 21:20, second only to Elias Lindholm among Carolina forwards. It looks like the 'Canes are prepared to sink a lot of faith into him with Jordan and Eric Staal both hurting, though Eric should be back soon, pushing Nash to the third line.

Canes' Nash Moving From Third To Second Line

News: Riley Nash is the Canes' first option to take over the No. 2 center spot in place of the injured Jordan Staal, according to Luke DeCock of the Raleigh News & Observer.
Analysis: This is a great opportunity for Riley Nash to finally be used in more of a scoring role after playing primarily as a checking line center the last few years. So far in the preseason, he has been skating on a line with Elias Lindholm and Jeff Skinner, two of the Canes' more skilled wingers. If this combination sticks, Nash could be primed to take a big step forward this season. At this point, he's worthy of a late-round sleeper pick selection in deeper drafts.

Canes' Nash Promoted To Second Line In Preseason

News: Riley Nash will center the second line between Jeff Skinner and Elias Lindholm in the Canes' first preseason game Sunday against Columbus, the Raleigh News & Observer reports.
Analysis: This looks to be a temporary assignment for now, as coach Bill Peters has decided to rest Eric Staal against the Jackets, meaning second- and third line centers Jordan Staal and Riley Nash move up in the pecking order. Once the regular season begins, Nash is more likely to be back centering the third line with the likes of Nathan Gerbe and either Patrick Dwyer or Zach Boychuk.

Canes' Nash: Four Points In Last Six Games

News: Riley Nash picked up two assists in Saturday's 3-2 OT loss to Columbus. He has four points (one goal, three assists) in his last six games.
Analysis: He's never going to be a high scorer, but he will deliver clutch production in fits and spurts. Unfortunately, that makes him a tough activation in any format.

Canes' Nash: Career-Best Three-Game Streak

News: Riley Nash extended his point streak to a career-best three games (two goals, one assist) with an assist in Saturday's loss to Montreal.
Analysis: He only has 14 points this season, so this run will be short-lived. Wait until after the break to see if he can keep it up. Then drop him into the bottom spot on your roster.

Canes' Nash Supplies Team's Lone Goal

News: Riley Nash snapped in his seventh goal of the season in Tuesday's loss to the Jets.
Analysis: Riley Nash scored a goal after going without a point in his last three contests, but is likely too far down the depth chart to have a huge offensive impact moving forward. Unless he's able to put together an impressive stretch of scoring, Nash will likely remain the center on the Canes' fourth line, giving him only a small chance to make noise in the fantasy world moving forward.

Hurricanes' Nash Notches Goal In Victory

News: Riley Nash notched his sixth goal of the season in Saturday's win over the Senators.
Analysis: Riley Nash has yo-yoed in an out of the lineup since returning from injured reserve two weeks ago, but Saturday's tally could allow him to reemerge as a regular for the Hurricanes. However, with just eight minutes of ice time in Saturday's game, Nash's offensive upside remains capped.

Hurricanes' Nash Returns From IR

News: Riley Nash (lower body) was activated Saturday, the Raleigh News & Observer reports.
Analysis: Riley Nash has missed the past five games after sustaining the injury against the Canadiens on Dec. 31. Expect him to return to his usual spot anchoring the Canes' fourth line, which gives him minimal fantasy value in most formats.

Canes' Nash Heads To IR

News: Riley Nash (lower-body) was placed on injured reserve Sunday, according to Chip Alexander of the Raleigh News & Observer.
Analysis: Riley Nash was already expected to be out with the injury through the end of next week, but the team is in need of some extra help up front and needs the roster space. Aaron Palushaj has been recalled from AHL Charlotte to fill that role.

Canes' Nash Ruled Out For 7-10 Days

News: Riley Nash (lower body) has been ruled out for a week to 10 days, Chip Alexander of the Raleigh News & Observer reports.
Analysis: Riley Nash suffered the injury in Tuesday's game against the Canadiens, logging just 1:49 of ice time before he was sent off for the night. Without the services of their third-line center for the next handful of games, expect the Hurricanes to recall a forward Thursday.

News: Riley Nash suffered a lower-body injury Tuesday against the Canadiens, Chip Alexander of the Raleigh News & Observer reports.
Analysis: Riley Nash, who saw just 1:49 worth of ice time before suffering his injury, entered Tuesday's contest with 10 points and 19 PIM in 35 games for the Hurricanes.

Nash Scores In Carolina Loss

News: Riley Nash scored one of the Canes' two goals in Friday's loss to Washington, a power-play marker for his fourth tally of the season.
Analysis: Riley Nash hasn't generated much offense for Carolina this season, with a modest eight points through 31 games with just one point on the power play.

Canes' Ride Suddenly Hot Nash

News: Riley Nash had a goal and an assist in Friday's 5-3 win over San Jose, giving him two goals in the last two games.
Analysis: Riley Nash had seen his minutes dip below 10 per contest over the last week and has been quiet this season offensively with seven points. Nash has not been a big scorer in his career and likely won't break that trend this season.

Canes' Nash Seeing Limited Ice Time

News: Riley Nash skated a season-low 8:03 during Thursday's 4-3 loss to Detroit, compared to the 14-15 minutes per night he was averaging at the start of the season.
Analysis: With just a single assist in his past 13 games, Riley Nash has been relegated to strict checking-line duty in Raleigh. Not that he's ever had any fantasy value outside of ultra-deep leagues, but even that is currently in jeopardy.

Canes' Nash Struggling To Find Form

News: Riley Nash recorded just his second point of the season -- an assist -- during Saturday's 4-3 win over the Islanders.
Analysis: Riley Nash may not be contributing all that much offensively, but his plus-5 is second on the team only to Jeff Skinner's plus-6. As long as he continues to be defensively responsible, expect to see him continue in his role as third-line center for the 'Canes. Unfortunately, however, his fantasy value is limited to the deepest of formats.

Hurricanes' Nash Tallies Assist In Return

News: Riley Nash returned from an upper body injury to pick up an assist against the Canadiens on Saturday night.
Analysis: Since he is on a two-way contract, it's expected that Riley Nash is headed to Charlotte (AHL) to begin the season to serve as organizational depth for the big club in the coming weeks.

Hurricanes' Nash Out With Upper Body Injury

News: Riley Nash is expected to miss five or six days after suffering a cut under his armpit that required stitches, according to the Raleigh News & Observer.
Analysis: Don't be surprised if Riley Nash's injury, along with his two-way contract, results in him opening the season in the AHL with the Charlotte Checkers. Nash had just nine points in 32 games last season and boasts minimial fantasy value in most formats right now.

Canes' Nash Reassigned To AHL

News: Carolina reassigned Riley Nash to AHL Charlotte on Wednesday.
Analysis: Riley Nash has posted NHL career highs this season by registering nine points (four goals, five assists) and playing in 32 games. He will return to the Charlotte Checkers, who begin their Western Conference Quarterfinals series on Friday.
