Panthers' Pirri Scores Two, Hits 20 Goals

News: Brandon Pirri reached 20 goals for the season Thursday, potting a pair -- one an empty-netter -- on six shots in a 4-1 win over Toronto.
Analysis: Goals, goals and more goals. That's now seven goals in the last seven games for Brandon Pirri, and 17 in his last 22. So what if he never gets assists? As long as he's putting the puck in the net nearly every game, fantasy owners won't complain.

Pirri Tallies Again For Panthers

News: Brandon Pirri jumped back onto the scoresheet Tuesday with his 18th goal on the season in a 4-3 loss to the Lightning.
Analysis: He still has only two assists on the season, but Brandon Pirri has a nose for the goal -- dating back to Jan. 19, he's scored an incredible 15 goals in 21 games. He's also got goals in five of the last six, and in that one game in which he didn't get on the scoresheet, he tallied in the shootout. Don't let him score all these goals for someone else's fantasy squad.

Panthers' Pirri Plays Shootout Hero

News: Brandon Pirri scored the game's only goal in the shootout to lift the Panthers to a 2-1 win over the Bruins on Saturday night.
Analysis: Mr. Cy Young has been on fire of late, ringing up a four-game goal streak heading into play Saturday and carrying a stat line of 17 goals and just two assists. His eight goals in 10 games before Saturday make him a worthy grab from the wire. He's shooting like a mad man and delivering. He might just as well do it for you instead of someone else.

Panthers' Pirri Scores For Fourth Straight Game

News: Brandon Pirri scored a goal for the fourth consecutive game Thursday, potting what turned out to be the game-winner in a 3-1 victory over Detroit.
Analysis: The guy is just a goal-scoring machine -- 17 of 'em in 37 games, which comes out to a 37-goal pace over a full season. Big things are coming for Brandon Pirri if he can stay healthy next year.

Panthers' Pirri Scores Again In Loss

News: Brandon Pirri scored another goal while taking a whopping 10 shots on goal in Tuesday's 3-2 loss to the Canadiens.
Analysis: That's now three straight games with a goal for Brandon Pirri, who has managed to score 16 goals in 37 games this season. Since returning from one of his many injuries on Feb. 28, he has scored seven goals in nine games including three on the power-play. When healthy, Pirri has plenty of value as one of the most offensive minded players on the team; however, his dearth of games played this season has to be a red flag. For now, ride the hot hand while you can.

Panthers' Pirri Stays Hot With Goal

News: Brandon Pirri scored his team's lone goal in Sunday's 2-1 loss to the Rangers.
Analysis: Brandon Pirri has been lighting the lamp with regularity lately, registering four goals in his last six games and 10 in his last 14. The 23-year-old went a nearly two month span with just one point, but he's been producing consistently outside of that stretch with 17 points in 36 contests on the year.

Pirri Nets Winner For Panthers

News: Brandon Pirri scored the game-winning goal on the power play in Saturday's 2-0 win over Carolina. He has five goals, including three on the power play, in his last seven games.
Analysis: He has 14 goals and just two assists in 35 games this season. Check your wire -- he could help you if you've been hit with injuries.

Panthers' Pirri Rolling Since Return

News: Brandon Pirri scored Thursday for the fourth time in four games since returning from an upper-body injury, scoring the Panthers' first goal in an eventual 4-3 shootout win over Dallas.
Analysis: Well, he hasn't been getting many assists -- two, to be precise -- but Brandon Pirri's been a steady presence in the goal column with Florida. He has 13 goals in 32 games -- that's a 33-goal pace over a full season. There's a lot of upside to be found here.

Cats' Pirri Tickles Twine Twice In Return

News: Brandon Pirri tickled the twine twice Saturday in his first game back from an upper-body injury as Florida bested the Sabres 5-3. He also blasted a career-high nine shots on goal.
Analysis: Brandon Pirri unloaded a pair of power-play snipes within 1:23 seconds of each other in the second period, single-handedly clawing the Panthers back into the game after Roberto Luongo allowed two goals in the first period. A couple interesting things to note here: firstly, 11 of his 13 points are goals, which leaves the sophomore two shy of the 13 he set last year, and secondly, the Panthers managed to win just two out of nine games in his absence. Pirri's definitely been productive in the goal department, so look for him to continue to get ample looks from coach Gerard Gallant and he's obviously an important cog in their lineup.

Panthers' Pirri Activated From IR

News: Brandon Pirri (upper body) was activated from injured reserve Saturday.
Analysis: Brandon Pirri resumed practicing Thursday and is now fully recovered from the injury that kept him out for about two and a half weeks. The forward had been sizzling with six goals and an assist in his last nine games before suffering the injury, but it could take him a little bit of time to rediscover his scoring touch upon his return. He's expected to slot in on the Panthers' third line Saturday.

Panthers' Pirri Cleared To Play

News: Brandon Pirri (upper body) has been cleared to play, Jameson C. Olive of FOX Sports reports.
Analysis: Brandon Pirri, who remains listed on IR for the time being, will presumably slot back in on the third or fourth line for Saturday's game against the Sabres. He has nine goals in 28 games this season, but with only two helpers to boot.

Panthers' Pirri Skates Thursday

News: Brandon Pirri (upper body) was a participant in Thursday's morning skate, George Richards of the Miami Herald reports.
Analysis: Brandon Pirri didn't skate with a regular line, so his return to the lineup will not come Thursday against the Blackhawks, his former team. Instead, it appears Pirri will require at least a few more additional days to practice with the team and take further contact before his activation will be more seriously considered.

Panthers' Pirri Placed On IR

News: Brandon Pirri (upper body) was placed on injured reserve Saturday, retroactive to Feb. 10, Jameson C. Olive of FOX Sports Florida reports.
Analysis: Panthers coach Gerard Gallant said Thursday that Brandon Pirri would miss two weeks after suffering an upper-body injury during Tuesday's game against the Ducks, so it was just a matter of time before this move was made. Tomas Fleischmann and Scottie Upshall, both of whom got off four shots in Friday's loss to Dallas, will be asked to help shoulder more of the load offensively in Pirri's absence.

Panthers' Pirri Ruled Out Two Weeks

News: Coach Gerard Gallant said Thursday that Brandon Pirri (upper body) would be out for the next two weeks, George Richards of the Miami Herald reports.
Analysis: It's an untimely setback for Brandon Pirri, who had been in the midst of the best stretch of hockey of his young career. Prior to exiting Tuesday's game against the Ducks with the injury, Pirri had scored six goals over his last eight games, making him one of the more indispensable players in the Panthers' lineup. In Pirri's absence, Tomas Fleischmann and Scottie Upshall will likely be solidified into third-line roles and be tasked with assuming more of an offensive burden.

Panthers' Pirri Out For Two-Game Road Trip

News: Brandon Pirri (upper body) didn't travel with the Panthers for their two-game road trip, which includes stops in Minnesota on Thursday and Dallas on Friday, Harvey Fialkov of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Analysis: Brandon Pirri will stay behind in Florida as he attempts to heal up from the upper-body injury he suffered during his first shift in Tuesday's win over the Ducks. Coach Gerard Gallant and the Panthers' training staff will check back on Pirri's condition when the return from the road trip over the weekend, after which a decision on his status for Sunday's home date with the Blues figures to be made.

Panthers' Pirri Leaves With Upper-Body Injury

News: Brandon Pirri left Tuesday's game against the Ducks with an upper-body injury and won't return, George Richards of the Miami Herald reports.
Analysis: Brandon Pirri took the brunt of a collision just 17 seconds into his first shift of the night. The 23-year-old has been arguably the team's hottest player of late with six goals in his previous eight games, so the Panthers can only hope he didn't sustain any sort of serious injury. An update on his condition could come after the game.

Another Pirri Goal Lifts Panthers Over Kings

News: Brandon Pirri scored the game-winning goal with 3:05 remaining in the third period Thursday against Los Angeles -- his sixth goal and seventh point in the last seven games.
Analysis: Brandon Pirri's really come alive for the Panthers, finally realizing the offensive potential that's been smothered by depth-line assignments over the course of his young career. If the team starts giving him more responsibility, look out.

Panthers' Pirri Notches Two Points Tuesday

News: Brandon Pirri registered an empty-net goal and an assist during Tuesday's eventual 4-2 win over the Islanders.
Analysis: Brandon Pirri has lit the lamp in three straight games and now has five scores in his last six appearances. It's reasonable to expect him to hit some rough patches as a younger player adjusting to different line combinations, but he's a sneaky option with a hot hand.

Panthers' Pirri Pots Goal In Loss

News: Brandon Pirri potted a power-play goal in Monday's 6-3 loss to the Rangers.
Analysis: Brandon Pirri is starting to get on a solid scoring streak with a goal in four of the past five games. He had just three goals on the season before this stretch, coming in a three game span in October, so while the 23-year-old hasn't found the back of the net that often, the goals have been coming in bunches.

Panthers' Pirri Nets Goal In Loss

News: Brandon Pirri scored the team's lone goal in Monday's 2-1 loss to the Canucks.
Analysis: Brandon Pirri hasn't gotten much playing time this season, appearing in just 20 games, and now has four goals and assist. After starting off with four points in his first six contests, the 23-year-old has cooled off considerably as this was his first point since Nov. 26, so there isn't much upside from a fantasy perspective.

Panthers' Pirri With Assist In Debut On The Wing

News: Brandon Pirri notched an assist while playing his first game on the wing, in Wednesday's 1-0 win against the Hurricanes.
Analysis: The natural center was shifted to play on the right wing with Nick Bjugstad and Jonathan Huberdeau for Wednesday's game against Carolina. The good news for Brandon Pirri is he is playing on a line that features the two hottest players on the team right now in Bjugstad and Huberdeau, the bad news is we don't know how long it will last. When asked about the new line after the game, coach Gerard Gallant responded with "I loved [the newly formed line] in the first period; I didn't like it much the second and third because there were too many chances against them and they weren't skating the same". If that trend continues, Pirri could easily see himself playing on a bottom six line. For the time being, he should produce some points while playing with his new linemates.

Panthers' Pirri Back For Monday

News: Brandon Pirri (concussion) will return to the lineup Monday against the Wild, George Richards of the Miami Herald reports.
Analysis: The center has been activated off IR, and Rocco Grimaldi has been sent back to AHL San Antonio to clear a roster spot. Brandon Pirri collected three goals in four games before getting injured early in the season.

Panthers' Pirri On Cusp Of Return

News: Brandon Pirri (concussion) participated in the Panthers' morning skate and could be a lineup option for Saturday's match with the Predators, Craig Davis of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Analysis: In addition to Brandon Pirri, fellow injured forwards Scottie Upshall and Sean Bergenheim took to the ice. Coach Gerard Gallant was reluctant to say whether any of those players would return to the lineup later in the evening, but Pirri and Upshall in particular seemed to be ready to go. No decision on the status of either player will likely be known until the Panthers take part in their pregame warmup. Unlike Upshall, Pirri would face the added complication of having to be activated from injured reserve, a move that would likely force the team to send Rocco Grimaldi back to AHL San Antonio.

Panthers' Pirri Takes Part In Morning Skate

News: Brandon Pirri (concussion) took part in Tuesday's optional morning skate, Harvey Fialkov of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Analysis: It would appear that Brandon Pirri is closing in on a return to the lineup, but his activation from injured reserve likely won't come in advance of Tuesday's game against the Kings. Pirri could be back later in the week if everything continues to go smoothly in his recovery from the concussion.

Panthers' Pirri Resumes Skating

News: Brandon Pirri (concussion) skated Wednesday morning, George Richards of the Miami Herald reports.
Analysis: Since Brandon Pirri has been sidelined for nearly two weeks with a concussion, he likely won't be ready to play until next week at the earliest. While resuming skating certainly represents progress, Pirri will probably need to log multiple full-contact practices before he's activated from injured reserve.
