Jackets' Tropp To Play Friday

News: Corey Tropp (illness) will return to action Friday against the Hurricanes.
Analysis: Corey Tropp missed the last two games while dealing with an illness, but after practicing the last two days, it appears that everything is now fine on the health front. He'll occupy a spot on the Jackets' fourth line, joining Michael Chaput and Jared Boll.

Blue Jackets' Tropp Returns To The Ice

News: Corey Tropp (illness) took part in Tuesday's morning skate.
Analysis: Corey Tropp did not skate on one of the Blue Jackets' regular lines Tuesday morning, so though he was able to get back on the ice after missing the last game, it looks like he is still not feeling well enough to see game action.

Jackets' Tropp Out With Illness Saturday

News: Corey Tropp (illness) will not play Saturday against the Devils, Shawn Mitchell of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: The illness forced Corey Tropp out of Friday's game prematurely, and the fourth-liner didn't make the trip with the team to New Jersey. Brian Gibbons is expected to take his spot in Saturday's lineup.

Jackets' Tropp Leaves Game

News: Corey Tropp left Friday's game due to illness and will not return.
Analysis: The seriousness of Corey Tropp's illness is unknown at this point in time. The team should update his status in the coming days.

Jackets' Tropp Makes Season Debut Friday

News: With Marko Dano (undisclosed) sidelined, Corey Tropp saw his first action of the season Friday and picked up a fighting major in 7:17 of ice time.
Analysis: Dano could be back for Saturday's game in Ottawa, but even if he isn't, don't expect Corey Tropp to supply much in the way of fantasy production while he's suiting up.

Tropp Re-Signs With Blue Jackets

News: The Blue Jackets have signed Corey Tropp to a two-year extension that runs through the 2015-16 season.
Analysis: Corey Tropp, who was claimed off waivers from Buffalo (where he recorded one assist in nine games) last November, appeared in 44 games for the Blue Jackets in 2013-14, recording 10 points in that span. He'll reprise his role as a depth forward for Columbus.

Jackets' Tropp Gets Qualifying Offer

News: The Blue Jackets have given Corey Tropp a qualifying offer.
Analysis: The depth forward isn't likely to attract an offer sheet from another club, so look for him to return to Columbus next season.

Jackets' Tropp Takes Seat Sunday

News: Corey Tropp will be a healthy scratch Sunday against the Islanders.
Analysis: Corey Tropp wasn;t seeing more than 10-12 minuts of ice time each game and wasn't all that productive either. He'll take a seat for now in favor of R.J. Unberger.

Jackets' Tropp Back In The Lineup Saturday

News: Corey Tropp saw his first action since February 7 and assisted on Artem Anisimov's game-winning goal in Saturday's 1-0 win over the Predators.
Analysis: He also picked up a fighting major and laid two hits, so it was a solid night for the fourth winger. Corey Tropp doesn't carry much fantasy upside and could return to the press box soon enough, but he's proven to be a valuable depth forward for the Jackets.

Production On Upswing For Jackets' Tropp

News: Corey Tropp picked up four assists in his eight games before the Olympic break.
Analysis: The increased offensive production hasn't resulted in increased ice time for Corey Tropp, who remains locked into a fourth-line role. Considering he's only averaging 8:21 of ice time with the Blue Jackets, Tropp's nine points in 31 games are actually somewhat impressive. Alas, it's probably not enough to make him of interest in most formats.

Jackets' Tropp Picks Up Two Helpers

News: Corey Tropp had the first multi-point game of his career Saturday, notching two assists in a 6-3 win over the Flyers.
Analysis: Needless to say, don't expect a repeat performance anytime soon. The Blue Jackets continue to lose bodies up front, so while Corey Tropp doesn't see a lot of ice time, his spot in the bottom six should be secure for now.

Jackets' Tropp Picks Up Assist In Columbus Debut

News: Corey Tropp skated on the fourth line Friday in his Blue Jackets' debut, and picked up an assist.
Analysis: He only saw 6:35 of ice time though, and will likely head to the press box or back to the waiver wire once the Jackets get healthier.

Columbus Claims Tropp

News: Columbus claimed Corey Tropp off waivers from Buffalo on Thursday, TSN's Darren Dreger reports.
Analysis: Corey Tropp has battled through several major injuries over the last year, and he still doesn't look 100 percent, but the Blue Jackets are willing to take a chance with him to see if he can recapture his old form. He could be in the lineup as early as Friday.

Sabres Waive Tropp

News: Corey Tropp has been waived to make room for Matt D'Agostini, reports The Buffalo News.
Analysis: Corey Tropp is having a tough year. After hurting his ACL and MCL and missing the majority of the season last year, Tropp broke his jaw during the preseason and has only played in nine games. Interim head coach Ted Nolan is familiar with D'Agostini, who was claimed off waivers from Pittsburgh, having worked together at Nolan's hockey school. If Tropp clears waivers, he'll report to Rochester. The feisty winger brings good energy and speed to the table but most nights still doesn't look 100 percent. He's still might be worth considering for teams looking for bottom-six depth.

Sabres' Tropp Scratched Against Flyers

News: Corey Tropp will sit Thursday nightagainst the Flyers after recording just one assist in eight games.
Analysis: In an effort to rebound from a 4-1 loss agains the Blues on Tuesday, head coach Ted Nolan will bring three fresh bodies into the lineup. Corey Tropp's fantasy value is limited, but the fourth-liner provides grit and energetic play, so he's unlikely to be a regular healthy scratch. Mikhail Grigorenko and Luke Adam will take Tropp and Brian Flynn's spots in the lineup.

Sabres' Tropp Practices On Second Line

News: Corey Tropp is expected to return Saturday night against the Ducks and was taking line rushes Friday morning on the second line with Marcus Foligno and captain Steve Ott, reports Bill Hoppe from the Olean Times Herald.
Analysis: Corey Tropp is a spark plug player who can do a lot of damage on the forecheck playing with Foligno and Ott. It most certainly will be Buffalo's most aggressive line. Tropp earned a regular spot on the Sabres following the 2011-12 season after scoring 22 points in 27 games in Rochester, but suffered an ACL and MCL injury in the first game of the 2012-13 season and ended up playing only six games that year. Ville Leino gets dropped from the second line. In deeper leagues, Tropp is an intriguing prospect because he has the potential to score 15-20 goals and touch triple digits in penalty minutes. However, Tropp has to re-establish himself in the lineup and stay healthy first. With Tropp's and Patrick Kaleta's return, the Sabres will have to make a roster move. An announcement should come prior to Saturday's game.

Sabres' Tropp Set To Return Saturday

News: Corey Tropp (jaw) is expected to return Saturday against the Ducks, The Buffalo News' John Vogl reports.
Analysis: The Sabres will be sure to clear a spot in the 20-man game lineup for Corey Tropp, but his return is hardly the boost this lousy attack needs. Tropp can't be counted on to provide much scoring punch in his fourth-line role.

Sabres' Tropp Nearing Return

News: Sabres head coach Ron Rolston said that Corey Tropp (jaw) could return by Saturday, WGR 550 reports.
Analysis: Sooner rather than later, Corey Tropp will likely emerge as a bottom-line candidate for the rebuilding Sabres. However, in that role, his value will be very limited.

Sabres' Tropp Still Has Some Healing Time

News: Coach Ron Rolston said Corey Tropp, who was practicing with the Sabres on Monday, still has a couple weeks to go before receiving medical clearance to return. He's returning from a broken jaw.
Analysis: He'll probably fill a bottom-line spot when he's ready to return to action, though the Sabres could put him in Rochester for a bit to get his sea legs while he waits for an opening among the big club's forward ranks.

Sabres' Tropp Skates Saturday

News: Corey Tropp (jaw) was on the ice for his own morning skate prior to the team's on Saturday. He was wearing a red non-contact jersey and a full face shield.
Analysis: Corey Tropp suffered the broken jaw late in the preseason and was given a 5-6 week recovery time. Less than four weeks from the injury, skating is s good sign, but he'll still be sidelined for another few weeks.

Sabres' Tropp Out 5-6 Weeks

News: Corey Tropp will miss the next five or six weeks with a broken jaw, Mike Harrington of the Buffalo News reports.
Analysis: Corey Tropp suffered the broken jaw during Sunday's preseason game against the Maple Leafs when he got in a fight with Jamie Devane. Tropp was trying to make the Sabres as a depth forward this preseason, but his odds don't look very good now that he'll have to sit out the first month and a half of the season.

Sabres' Tropp Injured In Melee

News: Corey Tropp was injured in a third-period fight Sunday against the Maple Leafs, according to The Buffalo News.
Analysis: The fight, in which Corey Tropp ended up bloodied pretty badly after tussling with Toronto's Jamie Devane, set off several other ones where suspensions and fines ended up getting handed out. If the injury is not serious, Tropp will continue his quest to try to land a spot on the Opening Night roster as a bottom-line forward.

Sabres' Tropp Inks One-Year Deal

News: Corey Tropp signed a one-year deal Tuesday, reports The Buffalo News.

Sabres' Tropp Suffers Season-Ending Knee Injury

News: Corey Tropp suffered a knee injury in Friday's AHL contest and will require season-ending surgery, reports The Buffalo News.
Analysis: Corey Tropp had already popped a pair of goals before suffering the injury in his AHL season debut, and was expected to be in the mix for a full-time gig with the Sabres at the conclusion of the NHL lockout.

News: Corey Tropp was assigned to the AHL on Friday, Sabres.com reports.
Analysis: It's not clear whether Buffalo plans to keep Corey Tropp in the AHL when the Sabres play Boston on Saturday.
