Blue Jackets' Bobrovsky Starts On Tuesday

News: Coach Todd Richards has confirmed that Sergei Bobrovsky will start Tuesday's game against the Caps.
Analysis: Prior to sustaining a groin injury on Jan. 21, the 2012-13 Vezina Trophy winner had compiled a 16-15-2 record, 2.85 GAA and .913 save percentage. He returns to the lineup with the Jackets on a six-game losing streak and occupying 13th place in the Eastern Conference with 56 points.

Blue Jackets' Bobrovsky Poised To Return

News: Sergei Bobrovsky (groin) appears on track to start Tuesday's game against the Caps, Jeff Rimer of FOX Sports Ohio reports.
Analysis: We'll await confirmation of the assignment, but assuming Sergei Bobrovsky does draw Tuesday's start, it will be his first turn in net since Jan. 21, following a 17-game absence.

Jackets' Bobrovsky Activated From IR

News: Sergei Bobrovsky (groin) was activated from injured reserve Saturday, but will serve as the backup goalie for the game later in the evening against the Devils, Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Sergei Bobrovsky appears fully healthy after resuming full practice earlier this week, but coach Todd Richards will give No. 2 goalie Curtis McElhinney one more turn before handing the net back over to his franchise netminder. Look for Bobrovsky's return to action to come Sunday against the Penguins, in what will be the second game of a back-to-back set. The groin injury and a broken finger suffered in late October have limited Bobrovsky to 33 games this season, during which he's compiled a 16-15-2 record, 2.85 GAA, and .913 save percentage.

Jackets' Bobrovsky (Groin) May Start Saturday

News: Sergei Bobrovsky (groin) will skate on his own Saturday morning, and the Blue Jackets will then make a decision on their starter for Saturday's game against the Devils, Shawn Mitchell of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: The team will not skate until 5 PM, but Sergei Bobrovsky is going to work out on his own in the morning. If he doesn't make it back for Saturday's game, Bobrovsky could still start Sunday's contest in Pittsburgh.

Jackets' Bobrovsky Could Be Back For Weekend

News: Sergei Bobrovsky (groin) appeared to be a full participant at Wednesday's practice, indicating afterward he had his best day on the ice since suffering the injury, Shawn Mitchell of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Coach Todd Richards said the team would stick with Curtis McElhinney as its goalie for Thursday's game against the Canadiens, but there's a good chance that Sergei Bobrovsky will be cleared to return to action for either of the Jackets' two weekend tilts. Bobrovsky will practice for the next couple of days, and if he endures no setbacks, expect the team to formally activate him from IR.

Jackets' Bobrovsky Gets In Full Practice

News: Sergei Bobrovsky (groin) completed a full practice Tuesday.
Analysis: With Curtis McElhinney receiving the morning off, Sergei Bobrovsky served as the goalie on the net opposite Anton Forsberg, who will start Tuesday's game against the Sabres. McElhinney will still back up Forsberg for the game, as the decision to rest the former was just a means of getting Bobrovsky more extensive on-ice work. Bobrovsky could be activated from IR ahead of Thursday's game against the Canadiens if he continues to progress well over the next two days.

Jackets' Bobrovsky (Groin) Expected Back Next Week

News: Sergei Bobrovsky (groin) should be back next week, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
Analysis: Sergei Bobrovsky skated at Friday's practice, and while he won't be back for Saturday's game against Montreal, he seems to be honing in on a return, and he will participate in Saturday's morning skate. Curtis McElhinney is playing well, but there's little question that Bobrovsky will step back into a role as the team's top goaltender.

Jackets' Bobrovsky Skates With Team Wednesday

News: Sergei Bobrovsky (groin) skated with the Blue Jackets on Wednesday and even faced a few easy shots, the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: The club hasn't changed the timetable for Sergei Bobrovsky's return, which is still expected to be before the end of February, but it's reassuring to see signs of progress.

Bobrovsky Traveling On Jackets' Road Trip

News: Sergei Bobrovsky (groin) is traveling with the Blue Jackets on their four-game road trip, Shawn Mitchell of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: The Blue Jackets remain optimistic that Sergei Bobrovsky will be back before the end of February, though it might be a stretch to expect him to play in the final game of the road trip Sunday against the Rangers. He'll need to ramp up his activity in practice the next couple of days in order for that to materialize, which probably makes a return in the final week of February more plausible.

Jackets' Bobrovsky Could Return At End Of February

News: Coach Todd Richards indicated there's hope that Sergei Bobrovsky returns "by the end of this month," Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Sergei Bobrovsky returning by the end of February would be the best possible news for the Blue Jackets, as it would be on the early end of his initial 4-6 week timetable. He skated on his one multiple times last week, which is the first step in his return, but it remains a step in the right direction. However, he won't be allowed to return to the net until he practices with the team once again, and he still likely remains over a week away from potentially rejoining the lineup.

Jackets' Bobrovsky (Groin) Begins Skating

News: Sergei Bobrovsky (groin) skated on his own for the second straight day on Tuesday, the Columbus Dispatch reports. "Just making some easy movements, slow motion," Bobrovsky said. "I don't push too hard. Day by day, you know?"
Analysis: He's still weeks away from returning to action, but so far Sergei Bobrovsky's recovery from his groin injury is going well.

Blue Jackets' Bobrovsky Out 4-6 Weeks

News: The Blue Jackets have placed Sergei Bobrovsky (groin) on IR, retroactive to Jan. 21, the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Per the report, Sergei Bobrovsky is expected to be sidelined four-to-six weeks. The Blue Jackets have recalled fellow netminder Anton Forsberg to work in tandem with Curtis McElhinney while Bobrovsky is out.

Jackets' Bobrovsky 'Out A While' With Groin Injury

News: Blue Jackets general manager Jarmo Kekalainen confirmed Friday that Sergei Bobrovsky's lower-body injury is related to his right groin area, Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reports. "It's gonna be a while," Kekalainen said of Bobrovsky's recovery timetable.
Analysis: Sergei Bobrovsky previously suffered a groin strain on his left side back in December, missing about a month of action due to the injury. It would seem reasonable to expect a similar length of absence this time around, though the Blue Jackets should have a better indication of his eventual return date once he's able to start skating. Regardless, it's a costly blow to the Blue Jackets, who were already on the periphery of the Eastern Conference playoff race. With their top netminder out of commission, look for Curtis McElhinney and expected AHL call-up Anton Forsberg to vie for starting duties in the interim.

Blue Jackets' Bobrovsky To Miss All-Star Game

News: Sergei Bobrovsky (lower body) will miss this weekend's NHL All-Star Game, the Blue Jackets' official site reports.
Analysis: Sergei Bobrovsky will be replaced by the Blues' Brian Elliott at the All-Star Game. The Blue Jackets didn't provide any information on the results of the MRI that Bobrovsky underwent Thursday, other than noting that he was without a timetable for a return. That pronouncement would seem to put his chances of being available immediately out of the break in jeopardy, but expect the Jackets to relay further updates on Bobrovsky's condition at some point in the next few days.

Blue Jackets' Bobrovsky Has MRI On Tap

News: Sergei Bobrovsky (leg) is slated to undergo an MRI on Thursday, the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Per the report, Sergei Bobrovsky -- who wasn't able to put weight on his right leg as he was helped off the ice during Wednesday's game against the Jets -- seems likely to miss this weekend's All-Star Game, and perhaps longer. As a result, AHL All-Star goaltender Anton Forsberg is a candidate to be promoted from Springfield.

Jackets' Bobrovsky Expected To Start Wednesday

News: Sergei Bobrovsky is expected to start Wednesday against the Jets.
Analysis: With the Blue Jackets off the schedule until next Tuesday, it would be a shocker if Sergei Bobrovsky didn't get the nod for the team's final game before the All-Star break. He's been able to maintain a winning record (16-14-2) for the first half of the season, despite a rather pedestrian 2.80 GAA and .915 save percentage.

Blue Jackets' Bobrovsky Exits With Injury

News: Sergei Bobrovsky exited Wednesday's game with an apparent injury.
Analysis: Sergei Bobrovsky left Wednesday's game in the second period after suffering what appeared to be a right leg injury, and was replaced by Curtis McElhinney. Bobrovsky's status will be updated as more details become available.

Jackets' Bobrovsky In The Net Wednesday

News: Sergei Bobrovsky will get the starting nod Wednesday against the Jets.
Analysis: Sergei Bobrovsky has had a rough January, but will look for back-to-back wins for the first time this month, facing off against Michael Hutchinson of the Jets.

Jackets' Bobrovsky Snaps Losing Streak

News: Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 25 of 26 shots to down the Wild by a 3-1 tally on Monday.
Analysis: The victory snaps a four-game losing streak for Bob, who gave up 14 goals during that span. If the Blue Jackets can stay healthy and shore up their defensive play in the second half, the Russian netminder could go on a nice little run if he's able to regain his Vezina-caliber form. And the Jackets will need him to if they hope to play past early April -- they're currently sitting 11 points out of a playoff spot in a tight Eastern Conference.

Bobrovsky Gets Monday's Start For Columbus

News: Sergei Bobrovsky will start Monday's game against the Wild, the Blue Jackets' official site reports.
Analysis: Sergei Bobrovsky, who has now lost four straight games, will square off Monday against Devan Dubnyk, who has won both of his starts for the Wild since being acquired in a trade last week.

Jackets' Bobrovsky Gives Strong Effort In Loss

News: Sergei Bobrovsky gave up two goals on 26 shots in Friday's loss to the Rangers.
Analysis: It was a solid outing from Sergei Bobrovsky, who has now lost four straight games. The 26-year-old is now 15-14-2 on the season, to go with a .914 save percentage and 2.86 GAA. While Friday's performance from Bob was promising, the Blue Jackets are struggling, scoring just seven goals in their last four games (all losses). One thing we know for certain is Bobrovsky is the man in Columbus, so if anyone is going to get the ship back on course, it's him.

Jackets' Bobrovsky To Start Friday

News: Sergei Bobrovsky will start Friday's game against the Rangers, Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Sergei Bobrovsky has dropped three games in a row while surrendering a total of 12 goals, but that won't deter coach Todd Richards from sticking with his franchise netminder. He'll look to right the ship versus the Rangers, who have lost two games in a row on the heels of a five-game winning streak. Henrik Lundqvist is projected to start in the opposing net.

Jackets' Bobrovsky Stops 28 In Loss

News: Sergei Bobrovsky allowed three goals on 31 shots in Wednesday's loss to the Canadiens.
Analysis: The Jackets were outshot 31-16 on the night, resulting in Sergei Bobrovsky picking up his third straight loss. Bob is now 15-13-2 on the season with a .913 GAA and a 2.88 GAA.

Jackets' Bobrovsky To Take Net Wednesday

News: Sergei Bobrovsky will assume the net for Wednesday's game against the Canadiens, Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Sergei Bobrovsky has stumbled in his four January starts, going 1-3-0 with a 4.57 GAA and .867 save percentage. The struggles are a bit surprising after he was arguably the league's most dominant netminder throughout December, so there remains hope that he can turn things around sooner or later. However, because the Canadiens represent a formidable opponent and are currently riding a hot goalie in Carey Price, it may be wise for fantasy owners to keep Bobrovsky on the bench for Wednesday's match.

Columbus' Bobrovsky Torched In Defeat

News: Sergei Bobrovsky made 35 saves in Saturday's loss to the Islanders, but surrendered five goals in the process.
Analysis: Sergei Bobrovsky's spectacular netminding in December was recently rewarded with a lavish contract extension and a nod in the upcoming All-Star Game, but the netminder hasn't played up to par of late. He's surrendered a total of 17 goals over his last four outings, taking three losses during that time. Expect him to get his house in order eventually, but it's probably best to use him on a matchups basis until he gets hot again.
