Blue Jackets' Bobrovsky Out 4-6 Weeks

News: The Blue Jackets have placed Sergei Bobrovsky (groin) on IR, retroactive to Jan. 21, the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Per the report, Sergei Bobrovsky is expected to be sidelined four-to-six weeks, with the Blue Jackets having recalled fellow netminder Anton Forsberg to work in tandem with Curtis McElhinney while Bobrovsky is out.

Jackets' Bobrovsky 'Out A While' With Groin Injury

News: Blue Jackets general manager Jarmo Kekalainen confirmed Friday that Sergei Bobrovsky's lower-body injury is related to his right groin area, Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reports. "It's gonna be a while," Kekalainen said of Bobrovsky's recovery timetable.
Analysis: Sergei Bobrovsky previously suffered a groin strain on his left side back in December, missing about a month of action due to the injury. It would seem reasonable to expect a similar length of absence this time around, though the Blue Jackets should have a better indication of his eventual return date once he's able to start skating. Regardless, it's a costly blow to the Blue Jackets, who were already on the periphery of the Eastern Conference playoff race. With their top netminder out of commission, look for Curtis McElhinney and expected AHL call-up Anton Forsberg to vie for starting duties in the interim.

Blue Jackets' Bobrovsky To Miss All-Star Game

News: Sergei Bobrovsky (lower body) will miss this weekend's NHL All-Star Game, the Blue Jackets' official site reports.
Analysis: Sergei Bobrovsky will be replaced by the Blues' Brian Elliott at the All-Star Game. The Blue Jackets didn't provide any information on the results of the MRI that Bobrovsky underwent Thursday, other than noting that he was without a timetable for a return. That pronouncement would seem to put his chances of being available immediately out of the break in jeopardy, but expect the Jackets to relay further updates on Bobrovsky's condition at some point in the next few days.

Blue Jackets' Bobrovsky Has MRI On Tap

News: Sergei Bobrovsky (leg) is slated to undergo an MRI on Thursday, the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Per the report, Sergei Bobrovsky -- who wasn't able to put weight on his right leg as he was helped off the ice during Wednesday's game against the Jets -- seems likely to miss this weekend's All-Star Game, and perhaps longer. As a result, AHL All-Star goaltender Anton Forsberg is a candidate to be promoted from Springfield.

Jackets' Bobrovsky Expected To Start Wednesday

News: Sergei Bobrovsky is expected to start Wednesday against the Jets.
Analysis: With the Blue Jackets off the schedule until next Tuesday, it would be a shocker if Sergei Bobrovsky didn't get the nod for the team's final game before the All-Star break. He's been able to maintain a winning record (16-14-2) for the first half of the season, despite a rather pedestrian 2.80 GAA and .915 save percentage.

Blue Jackets' Bobrovsky Exits With Injury

News: Sergei Bobrovsky exited Wednesday's game with an apparent injury.
Analysis: Sergei Bobrovsky left Wednesday's game in the second period after suffering what appeared to be a right leg injury, and was replaced by Curtis McElhinney. Bobrovsky's status will be updated as more details become available.

Jackets' Bobrovsky In The Net Wednesday

News: Sergei Bobrovsky will get the starting nod Wednesday against the Jets.
Analysis: Sergei Bobrovsky has had a rough January, but will look for back-to-back wins for the first time this month, facing off against Michael Hutchinson of the Jets.

Jackets' Bobrovsky Snaps Losing Streak

News: Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 25 of 26 shots to down the Wild by a 3-1 tally on Monday.
Analysis: The victory snaps a four-game losing streak for Bob, who gave up 14 goals during that span. If the Blue Jackets can stay healthy and shore up their defensive play in the second half, the Russian netminder could go on a nice little run if he's able to regain his Vezina-caliber form. And the Jackets will need him to if they hope to play past early April -- they're currently sitting 11 points out of a playoff spot in a tight Eastern Conference.

Bobrovsky Gets Monday's Start For Columbus

News: Sergei Bobrovsky will start Monday's game against the Wild, the Blue Jackets' official site reports.
Analysis: Sergei Bobrovsky, who has now lost four straight games, will square off Monday against Devan Dubnyk, who has won both of his starts for the Wild since being acquired in a trade last week.

Jackets' Bobrovsky Gives Strong Effort In Loss

News: Sergei Bobrovsky gave up two goals on 26 shots in Friday's loss to the Rangers.
Analysis: It was a solid outing from Sergei Bobrovsky, who has now lost four straight games. The 26-year-old is now 15-14-2 on the season, to go with a .914 save percentage and 2.86 GAA. While Friday's performance from Bob was promising, the Blue Jackets are struggling, scoring just seven goals in their last four games (all losses). One thing we know for certain is Bobrovsky is the man in Columbus, so if anyone is going to get the ship back on course, it's him.

Jackets' Bobrovsky To Start Friday

News: Sergei Bobrovsky will start Friday's game against the Rangers, Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Sergei Bobrovsky has dropped three games in a row while surrendering a total of 12 goals, but that won't deter coach Todd Richards from sticking with his franchise netminder. He'll look to right the ship versus the Rangers, who have lost two games in a row on the heels of a five-game winning streak. Henrik Lundqvist is projected to start in the opposing net.

Jackets' Bobrovsky Stops 28 In Loss

News: Sergei Bobrovsky allowed three goals on 31 shots in Wednesday's loss to the Canadiens.
Analysis: The Jackets were outshot 31-16 on the night, resulting in Sergei Bobrovsky picking up his third straight loss. Bob is now 15-13-2 on the season with a .913 GAA and a 2.88 GAA.

Jackets' Bobrovsky To Take Net Wednesday

News: Sergei Bobrovsky will assume the net for Wednesday's game against the Canadiens, Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Sergei Bobrovsky has stumbled in his four January starts, going 1-3-0 with a 4.57 GAA and .867 save percentage. The struggles are a bit surprising after he was arguably the league's most dominant netminder throughout December, so there remains hope that he can turn things around sooner or later. However, because the Canadiens represent a formidable opponent and are currently riding a hot goalie in Carey Price, it may be wise for fantasy owners to keep Bobrovsky on the bench for Wednesday's match.

Columbus' Bobrovsky Torched In Defeat

News: Sergei Bobrovsky made 35 saves in Saturday's loss to the Islanders, but surrendered five goals in the process.
Analysis: Sergei Bobrovsky's spectacular netminding in December was recently rewarded with a lavish contract extension and a nod in the upcoming All-Star Game, but the netminder hasn't played up to par of late. He's surrendered a total of 17 goals over his last four outings, taking three losses during that time. Expect him to get his house in order eventually, but it's probably best to use him on a matchups basis until he gets hot again.

Jackets Stand By Bobrovsky For Saturday Start

News: Sergei Bobrovsky will assume the net for Saturday's game against the Islanders.
Analysis: After a spectacular month of December that earned him a new four-year contract extension Friday, Sergei Bobrovsky has begun to look quite human. He's been beaten for six goals and four goals in two of his most recent three starts, but he still represents a far superior option than backup Curtis McElhinney. For that reason, coach Todd Richards will stick with Bobrovsky for his second start in as many days.

Jackets' Bobrovsky Gives Up Four Goals In Loss

News: Sergei Bobrovsky gave up four goals on 31 shots in Friday's loss to Toronto.
Analysis: You're off the case, Sergei Bobrovsky! While the number one cop in town recently signed a four-year, $29.7 million contract with the Blue Jackets, he has struggled of late, posting a 3-3-1 record in his last seven games, allowing a whopping 24 goals in that span (3.43 GAA). Are we worried? Not really. While he's had some horrible outings this season, he still owns a 15-11-2 record, to go with a .915 save percentage and 2.80 GAA. He's too good to not rebound.

Jackets Extend Bobrovsky

News: Sergei Bobrovsky signed a four-year extension with the Blue Jackets on Friday.
Analysis: Sergei Bobrovsky's extension will keep him with the Blue Jackets through the 2018-19 season. The 2013 Vezina Trophy winner has gone 68-41-13 with a 2.34 GAA and .924 save percentage in 123 games with the Blue Jackets since joining the club in the 2012-13 season. The netminder's contract will reportedly net him $29.7 million over the course of the four years.

Jackets' Bobrovsky To Start Friday

News: Sergei Bobrovsky will start Friday's game in Toronto, Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Coming off a 4-2 win over the Stars, Sergei Bobrovsky will face another high-scoring team with defensive issues. With the Blue Jackets playing a back-to-back, Curtis McElhinney will likely handle Saturday's game against the Islanders.

Jackets' Bobrovsky Stops 24 In Win

News: Sergei Bobrovsky put a stop to 24 of 26 shots in Tuesday's 4-2 victory over Dallas.
Analysis: A fine bounce-back effort for Bob on the heels of Saturday's six-goal disaster in Arizona. This was a good game and he's having a solid year, but Sergei Bobrovsky has certainly been blowup-prone at times, making him a riskier fantasy play than he has been in the past.

Jackets' Bobrovsky To Start Tuesday

News: Sergei Bobrovsky will be in net Tuesday against the Stars, Jeff Rimer of FOX Sports Ohio reports.
Analysis: After getting the night off Sunday against the Avalanche, Sergei Bobrovsky should be fresh for the matchup with Dallas. The Russian goalie is 14-10-2 on the season with a 2.78 GAA and .917 save percentage.

Jackets' Bobrovsky: Yanked After Six Goals

News: Sergei Bobrovsky allowed six goals on 31 shots in a 6-3 loss to Arizona. He was pulled in the third period.
Analysis: Even the mighty must fall. He was the NHL's third star of December after helping his team go 10-1-1 to reach .500. He'll be fine.

Jackets' Bobrovsky In Net Saturday

News: Sergei Bobrovsky will be in the cage for Saturday's duel with the Coyotes.
Analysis: Sergei Bobrovsky was given the NHL's third star honors for his sublime December, during which he went 9-1-1 with a 2.13 GAA and .937 save percentage. Coach Todd Richards is still undecided on whether or not he'll rest Bobrovsky for Sunday's game against the Avalanche, put the top netminder could make that decision difficult if he stays hot with his first outing in January.

Columbus' Bobrovsky Backstops Team To Win

News: Sergei Bobrovsky made 28 saves in a 3-1 win over Minnesota on Wednesday.
Analysis: Sergei Bobrovsky bounced back after allowing four goals to Nashville in his previous start. The win is the ninth in December for the Russian netminder who is single-handedly keeping the Blue Jackets in the playoff race. The former Vezina-winning goalie is an elite goalie and should be given the start every night. Even if the wins don't come, he provides excellent save percentage stats.

Jackets' Bobrovsky Gets Nod Wednesday

News: Sergei Bobrovsky (illness) will receive the start in goal Wednesday versus the Wild, Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: An illness left Sergei Bobrovsky unavailable for Saturday's win over the Bruins, but he returned to the ice Sunday after his symptoms subsided. Bobrovsky has suffered a couple of hiccups since his seven-game winning streak ended less than two weeks ago, but at worst, he's still probably a league-average netminder.

Jackets' Bobrovsky Skates On Sunday

News: Sergei Bobrovsky, who missed Saturday's game with a stomach bug, took part in an optional skate on Sunday, the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Expect to see Goalie Bob back between the pipes on Wednesday against the Wild.
