Blues Sign Tarasenko To Extension

News: The Blues signed Vladimir Tarasenko to an eight-year, $60 million extension Tuesday, ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Vladimir Tarasenko is coming off a breakout campaign in which he racked up 37 goals -- many of the breathtaking variety -- and 73 points in 77 games for the Blues, to go along with a plus-27 rating. Thanks to his lucrative extension, the 23-year-old winger is now under contract with the team through the 2022-23 season, at an annual cap hit of $7.5 million. The deal makes him the highest-paid member of the Blues, but if Tarasenko remains among the league's scoring leaders the next few several seasons, the contract will probably go down as a bargain.

Tarasenko The Whole Of The Blues' Attack In Game 5

News: Vladimir Tarasenko scored the first goal of Friday's Game 5 against the Wild, but it would represent the entirety of the Blues' output in the 4-1 defeat.
Analysis: Vladimir Tarasenko has absolutely feasted on the Wild during the past six games, with the first of those contests coming in the regular-season finale April 11. During that span, the Russian sniper has netted an absurd seven goals and two assists, including the winning tallies in Games 2 and 4. Even if the Blues -- who trail 3-2 in the series -- end up exiting the postseason after one round, those who selected Tarasenko in pool play have probably received sufficient return on their investment.

Blues' Tarasenko Scores Twice In Game 4 Win

News: Vladimir Tarasenko scored twice Wednesday in a 6-1 Game 4 win over the Wild. He went plus-2 and took three shots while delivering two hits in the contest.
Analysis: Vladimir Tarasenko has racked up five goals in these playoffs so far, but it's been a tale of two series for him -- all five came on eight shots in the two games the Blues have won, but he tallied no goals or shots in their two losses. He'll look to reverse that trend Friday in Game 5 at home.

Tarasenko On An Offensive Tear For St. Loo

News: Vladimir Tarasenko potted a hat trick in Saturday's 4-1 win over the Wild.
Analysis: Geez -- do you think this guy loves to play Minny? He has four goals and two assists between the season's last game, also against the Wild, and two playoff games. He's clearly not intimidated by the bright lights of the postseason.

Blues' Tarasenko Returns And Stars ... Again

News: Vladimir Tarasenko (lower body) returned to action Saturday against Minnesota and was named the game's first star after scoring a goal and added an assist in a 4-2 win.
Analysis: Welcome back, Vlad -- you're ready for the postseason. His 73 points this season game in just 77 games. He's a good postseason option IF you think the Blues can advance a couple rounds.

Blues' Tarasenko Returning For Season Finale

News: Coach Ken Hitchcock announced Vladimir Tarasenko (lower body) would return for Saturday's regular-season finale against the Wild, Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Vladimir Tarasenko missed the last five games and appeared likely to stay out until the postseason, but the Blues signed off on the forward's return after he was able to put in a full practice with the rest of the team Friday. With the Blues still in contention for the top seed in the Western Conference, Tarasenko's return will give the team an added scoring boost while affording him the opportunity to reestablish some continuity with his linemates after the absence. He leads the Blues with 36 goals and 71 points on the campaign.

Blues' Tarasenko Skates Thursday Morning

News: Vladimir Tarasenko (lower body) skated Thursday morning, NHL.com's Lou Korac reports.
Analysis: The Blues have been tight-lipped about Vladimir Tarasenko's activity since he sustained the injury last Monday, but he joined the full team for the first time Thursday. It's still unclear when Tarasenko may resume practicing in full with the Blues, making it quite unlikely that he suits up for the team's final regular-season game Saturday against the Wild.

Blues Rule Out Tarasenko For Thursday

News: Vladimir Tarasenko (lower body) will not play Thursday against the Blackhawks, NHL.com's Lou Korac reports.
Analysis: It's the fifth straight game that the All-Star winger will be forced to miss due to the injury. Vladimir Tarasenko was absent from Wednesday's optional skate, and unless he's able to get on the ice for practice Friday, he'll have little chance of suiting up in the regular-season finale Saturday versus the Wild.

Blues' Tarasenko Still Sidelined

News: Vladimir Tarasenko (lower body) won't play Tuesday against the Jets, Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Though the Blues are calling Vladimir Tarasenko "day-to-day," the report suggests that he may not be ready until the start of the NHL playoffs, so the forward's status for Thursday's game against Chicago looks cloudy, at best.

Blues' Tarasenko Still Sidelined

News: Vladimir Tarasenko (lower body) won't play Sunday against Chicago.
Analysis: Vladimir Tarasenko, who last suited up on March 30, will miss his third straight game Sunday, with a firm timetable for his return to action not yet established.

Blues' Tarasenko Not Playing Friday

News: Vladimir Tarasenko (lower body) won't play in Friday's game against the Stars, Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Vladimir Tarasenko is traveling with the Blues on their two-game road trip, but likely isn't a candidate to play in either game. The Blues believe Tarasenko will return to the lineup before the regular season draws to a close next week, though there's been little thus far to suggest he's nearing a return to on-ice activity. Those hoping to have Tarasenko back at some point during the fantasy playoffs might be better off exploring other options.

Blues' Tarasenko Labeled Day-To-Day

News: Coach Ken Hitchcock said that while Vladimir Tarasenko (lower body) wouldn't be able to play Thursday against the Flames, the winger is being viewed as day-to-day.
Analysis: Earlier reports seemed to suggest Vladimir Tarasenko was being labeled as out indefinitely, but Hitchcock's update would seem to paint a rosier picture of the situation. While having their top goal scorer unavailable Thursday and for possibly a few more games to come isn't ideal, so long as Tarasenko returns before the playoffs, the Blues should be content to take it slow with him. Tarasenko will probably need to get back on the ice for a skate over the next day or two to have a shot and playing in either of the Blues' two weekend games, scheduled for Friday and Sunday.

Blues' Tarasenko Ruled Out With Lower-Body Injury

News: The Blues ruled Vladimir Tarasenko out indefinitely Wednesday with a lower-body injury, Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Vladimir Tarasenko appeared to suffer an injury to his leg when he was tripped up midway through the third period of Monday's game against the Canucks. He initially came back out for another shift, but his mobility appeared to be noticeably compromised before he retreated to the locker room soon after. A firmer timetable for Tarasenko's return could be provided after Wednesday's practice, when coach Ken Hitchcock is expected to provide an update on the winger's condition. The Blues' Stanley Cup aspirations would take a major hit if Tarasenko -- who ranks fifth in the NHL with 36 goals -- is forced to miss any time with the playoffs with the injury.

Blues' Tarasenko Suffers Apparent Leg Injury

News: Vladimir Tarasenko suffered an apparent leg injury in Monday's game against the Canucks, Lou Korac of NHL.com reports.
Analysis: It's not exactly clear what type of injury Vladimir Tarasenko is dealing with, but he was spotted walking with a slight limp following Monday's game and donning a wrap on his leg. Coach Ken Hitchcock said the Blues wouldn't have any further information on Tarasenko's status until after he is evaluated by team doctors Tuesday, so he'll be listed as day-to-day for the time being.

Two Points For Blues' Tarasenko

News: Despite losing 6-3, Vladimir Tarasenko was a beast Saturday, scoring a goal, adding an assist, and firing eight shots on goal against Minnesota.
Analysis: The beat goes on for Vladimir Tarasenko, who now has an elite (and symmetrical) 35 goals and 35 assists this season. He's also fifth in the league in plus/minus with an eye-popping plus-30, sixth in SOG with 250, and fifth in points with 70. Who knew this 23-year-old kid would be a top-five fantasy asset this season? Nonetheless, give yourself a pat on the back if you drafted him, as he's truly blossomed into one of the game's multi-categorical fantasy monsters.

Blues' Tarasenko Has Assist In Win

News: Vladimir Tarasenko collected his 34th assist Tuesday in a 4-0 win over Calgary. He was plus-1 with two shots, two hits, and a blocked shot in the contest.
Analysis: Despite the fact that teams are keying on Vladimir Tarasenko to limit the space he has with the puck, he continues to produce, as this was his eighth point in his last eight games. If you caught the Tarasenko train in your league, you are probably doing well, as he has exceeded even the most optimistic pre-season predictions. Keep rolling him as you do.

Blues' Tarasenko Lights The Lamp In Win

News: Vladimir Tarasenko scored his 34th goal of the season Sunday in a 3-0 win over Dallas. He was plus-1 with two PIM and two shots in the contest.
Analysis: Vladimir Tarasenko made Stars' captain Jamie Benn look pretty silly as he opened the scoring. His 67 points ranks seventh in the NHL while he is fourth in goals and plus/minus. Tarasenko has emerged as superstar who should always be in your lineup.

News: Vladimir Tarasenko hiked up his season goal and assist totals by one apiece Tuesday in a 5-4 win over the Jets.
Analysis: He assisted on Jaden Schwartz's power-play tally and scored at even strength himself. Now on a four-game point streak, Vladimir Tarasenko's doing an admirable job of keeping his goals and assists balanced -- he's got 33 of each to go with his plus-29 rating.

Blues' Tarasenko Picks Up Assist In Loss

News: Vladimir Tarasenko picked up his 31st assist of the year Thursday in a 3-1 loss to Philadelphia. He was plus-1, took four shots, and added a hit in the contest.
Analysis: The multi-point efforts have slowed for Vladimir Tarasenko, who has just three since February 1, but he keeps getting on to the scoresheet on a regular basis. He leads the Blues with 62 points in 64 games - good for ninth in the league. As for his evolution as a top player in real and fantasy hockey, he took 136 shots in 64 games last year, while putting 219 pucks on net in the same number of games this year. Roll him every night.

News: Vladimir Tarasenko picked up an assist Sunday in a 6-5 shootout loss to the Canucks. He added three shots on net in the game.

Blues' Tarasenko Picks Up Assist In Loss

News: Vladimir Tarasenko picked up an assist Tuesday in a 5-2 loss to Montreal. He was minus-1 with two shots on goal in the contest.
Analysis: Since Feb. 1, Vladimir Tarasenko has 12 points in 12 games and has a three-game point streak in play at the moment. The young Russian has a reputation as a goal scorer, but he has 29 assists among his 60 points on the year, which ranks him seventh in the NHL scoring race. His emergence this year as an elite player has rewarded owners that went after him earlier than the competition. Set it and forget it with Tarasenko.
