Blackhawks' Kruger Likely Back In Saturday

News: Marcus Kruger (illness) is likely to play Saturday against the Avalanche, CSN Chicago's Tracey Myers reports.
Analysis: Marcus Kruger participated in line rushes during Saturday's morning skate after missing Thursday's game against the Blues, so it looks like he's no longer feeling under the weather. Expect him to replace Andrew Desjardins on the club's fourth line.

Hawks' Kruger Out Thursday

News: Marcus Kruger (illness) won't play Thursday against the Blues.
Analysis: Marcus Kruger is traveling with the Blackhawks on their current road trip, so there's still a possibility he could play in the regular-season finale Saturday in Colorado. After a two-point effort in last Thursday's win over Vancouver, Kruger has not recorded a point over his last three contests, and has notched a mere 17 points and 30 PIM in 80 games for the Hawks to date.

Blackhawks' Kruger Playing Sunday

News: Marcus Kruger will play in Sunday's game against the Blues, ESPN Chicago reports.
Analysis: Marcus Kruger suffered a minor injury during Friday's game against the Sabres, but he was able to return and finish out the contest. There's no reason to think he won't be his usual self for Sunday's big matchup with the Blues.

Blackhawks' Kruger Returns

News: Marcus Kruger was able to return to Friday's game after leaving with an undisclosed injury in the second period, Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Analysis: Luckily for the Blackhawks and fantasy owners, Marcus Kruger's ailment wasn't serious enough to keep him out of Friday's contest. Although he may be a little banged up after Friday's game, Kruger shouldn't be in any danger of missing Sunday's matchup with the Blues.

Hawks' Kruger Leaves With Injury

News: Marcus Kruger left Friday's game against the Sabres with an undisclosed injury, Mark Lazerus of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Analysis: Marcus Kruger fell to the ice in pain after taking a big hit from Tyson Strachan in the second period of Friday's game. At this point in time it isn't clear whether he'll be able to return Friday's contest. If he's held out for the remainder of Friday's matchup, the Blackhawks should provide an update on his status in the coming days.

Rare Multi-Point Night For Hawks' Kruger

News: Marcus Kruger scored a goal on a team-high-tying five shots, added an assist and went plus-2 in Thursday's win over Vancouver.
Analysis: Marcus Kruger's last multi-point effort came way, way back on Dec. 11, and he hadn't fired as many as five shots on net since Dec. 6. So this was a unicorn of a game for Kruger, whose role for Chicago is largely defensive.

Hawks' Kruger Ends Skid With Goal

News: Marcus Kruger recorded his sixth goal of the season in Monday's 5-2 win over the Hurricanes.
Analysis: Marcus Kruger has been on a sustained cold spell as the goal was just his first point in his last 11 games, and only his second in his previous 31 contests. At this point, the 24-year-old appears to have taken a step back from his 28-point campaign a season ago and doesn't hold much fantasy value in any format.

Hawks' Kruger Nets First Goal Of Game Sunday

News: Marcus Kruger found the back of the net to kick off the scoring in Sunday's 4-2 win over the Blues.
Analysis: The tally ended a massive drought for Marcus Kruger, who had gone the previous 20 games without a point and 28 games without a goal. He'll probably need to find the score sheet in a handful of upcoming contests before even appearing on the fantasy radar in deeper formats.

Hawks' Kruger Contributes Two Assists

News: Marcus Kruger picked up a pair of assists in Thursday's 3-2 win over the Bruins.
Analysis: With four points in his last five games now, Marcus Kruger's on a little surge that's pushed his total to 10 points on the year. It's still pretty meager in 29 games, and he hasn't taken a shot on goal in three straight, but Kruger's nonetheless showing signs of life from Chicago's fourth line. Jonathan Toews reportedly suffered a minor head injury Thursday, and if that keeps him out at all, it could mean a game or two of extra ice time for Kruger.

Blackhawks' Kruger Awarded First Goal Of Season

News: Marcus Kruger was credited with his first goal of the season in Tuesday's 5-0 win over the Canadiens.
Analysis: The goal was initially awarded to Kris Versteeg, but it looks like after further review, it was determined that Marcus Kruger was the final player to lay a stick on the puck before it fell into the net. Kruger will take the tally however he can get it, as points have extremely hard to come by for the center this season. He's compiled just two points in 13 games and shouldn't warrant much fantasy interest at this time.

Blackhawks' Marcus Kruger Out Saturday

News: Marcus Kruger will not play in Saturday's game against the Predators, Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Blackhawks' Kruger Finds Net

News: Marcus Kruger registered his seventh goal of the season in a 4-0 win over the Blues on Wednesday.
Analysis: It was the first goal for the 23-year-old since Feb. 3 against the Kings. Locked into a fourth-line center role for the Blackhawks most night, there are typically few opportunities for Marcus Kruger to pick up points.

Two Helpers For Blackhawks' Kruger

News: Marcus Kruger picked up a pair of assists Thursday -- his first multi-point game since way back on Nov. 2.
Analysis: Offense isn't the name of Marcus Kruger's game, and it especially hadn't been lately -- he'd gone five straight games and eight of nine without a point prior to Thursday's action. Don't count on this to be the start of something, though at just 23 years old, Kruger still does possess some longer-term upside.

Hawks' Kruger Heads Into Olympics On A Sour Note

News: Marcus Kruger, who will suit up for Sweden in the Winter Olympics, has provided one point in the Blackhawks' last six games.
Analysis: Since falling out of a bottom-six role in January, Marcus Kruger has seen his ice time, and consequently, his productivity, dry up. He was skating on Sweden's fourth line at Monday's practice, so any hope that he'll rediscover his scoring touch in the Olympics might be overly optimistic.

Hawks Move Kruger To Second Line

News: Marcus Kruger will get a shot at centering the second line, ESPN Chicago reports.
Analysis: Marcus Kruger has had another solid season, and was recently named to the Swedish Olympic team. His play has earned him a shot at centering the second line between Patrick Kane and Kris Versteeg. Kane has been one of the most productive players in the league this season, and should help Kruger increase his scoring as well. Keep a close eye on Kruger to see if he sticks on the second line after a few games.

Kruger's Late Tally Carries Chicago Past Vancouver

News: Marcus Kruger scored the game-winning goal against Vancouver on Saturday. The tally came just nine seconds after the Blackhawks had tied the game in the third period.
Analysis: He's been around long enough that it's easy to forget that he's just 23. He's still developing as a scorer, but he does enough little things -- such as winning the majority of his face-off draws Saturday -- that he'll keep getting opportunities to play.

Kruger Adds Two Helpers As Blackhawks Roll

News: Marcus Kruger contributed two assists in Saturday's 5-1 win over the Jets.
Analysis: Marcus Kruger finished the game with a plus-3 rating and also won 11 of his 15 faceoffs on the afternoon. The 23-year-old center has seen his ice time wane in recent games, but Saturday's performance may convince coach Joel Quenneville to give him more minutes.

Hawks Move Kruger From Center To Left Side

News: Marcus Kruger will be on the third line left wing for Friday night's game against Islanders after being moved from the fourth line center, Chicago Tribune reports.
Analysis: Hawks coach Joel Quenneville is playing around with his bottom two lines that will have Joakim Nordstrom as fourth-line center. Marcus Kruger could get more scoring opportunities but it did not help that he won only 4-of-11 faceoffs in Wednesday night's loss in St. Louis.

Hawks' Kruger Inks Two-Year Deal With Club

News: Marcus Kruger agreed to a two-year deal on Friday with the Blackhawks, ESPN Chicago.com reports.
Analysis: There was no dollar figure reported. Marcus Kruger, who was drafted by the Blackhawks in the fifth round in the 2009 NHL draft and has appeared in 125 regular-season games for the Blackhawks in the past three seasons, is a restricted free agent. He was pivotal on the penalty-killing unit last season, that was one of the best in the NHL. He had four goals, nine assists and a plus-3 rating in 47 regular-season games last season and had three goals, two assists and a minus-2 rating in 23 playoff games.

Hawks' Kruger Expected To Re-Sign In Coming Days

News: Blackhawks GM Stan Bowman said Friday that he expects to re-sign Marcus Kruger in the next couple days, ESPNChicago.com reports.
Analysis: While admitting that the deal has taken longer to work out than other contracts, Bowman said that the two sides are "very close" and that "it hasn't been a difficult negotiation." The 23-year-old center was an important part of the team's third-ranked penalty-killing unit, and it sounds like just a matter of time before something gets done.

Hawks' Kruger To Skate On Second Line Saturday

News: Marcus Kruger will start on the second line on Saturday with Dave Bolland still out of the lineup because of an upper-body injury, Tracey Myers of CSN Chicago reports.
Analysis: Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville is toying with the lines and has used recently acquired Michael Handzus at center. Quenneville, however, said that he might use Handzus at right wing. Marcus Kruger's numbers are down - especially in goals - compared to his rookie season. He has three goals and eight assists in 36 games this season. In 2011-12, Kruger compiled nine goals and 17 assists in 71 games.

News: Marcus Kruger (illness) worked out off the ice Tuesday, but , could be back at practice Wednesday.

Blackhawks' Kruger Misses Practice With The Flu

News: Marcus Kruger sat out Monday's training camp session with a case of the flu.
Analysis: Provided Marcus Kruger's illness isn't more severe than a normal case of the flu, he should be ready to go for Saturday's season opener.
