Erixon Packaged To Pittsburgh In Kessel Trade

News: Tim Erixon was traded Wednesday to the Penguins along with forwards Phil Kessel and Tyler Biggs and a 2016 second-round draft pick in exchange for forwards Nick Spaling and Kasperi Kapanen, defenseman Scott Harrington, and first- and third-round draft picks in 2016, Sportsnet.ca reports.
Analysis: Tim Erixon was expected to enjoy a regular role with Toronto in 2015-16, but his path to ice time is a bit more muddled upon landing in Pittsburgh. The 24-year-old showed some semblance of offensive upside in the minors while he was a member of the Blue Jackets organization, but it has yet to materialize quite yet at the NHL level. In 93 career games, he's managed only two goals and 12 assists.

Leafs Re-Sign Erixon For One Year

News: Tim Erixon re-signed with the Maple Leafs on Tuesday to a one-year, $600,000 contract, Frank Seravalli of TSN reports.
Analysis: Tim Erixon spent time in the NHL with the Blue Jackets, Blackhawks, and Leafs last season, generating only two goals and five assists in 42 games. Though he's already bounced around five organizations in his career, the 24-year-old Erixon still possesses some semblance of upside. With the Buds expected to lean heavily on young defensemen next season, Erixon should have a chance at playing his way into a longer-term contract.

Leafs' Erixon Likely A Healthy Scratch Monday

News: Tim Erixon has overcome his illness but is expected to be a healthy scratch for Monday's game against the Oilers, Paul Hendrick of Leafs TV reports.
Analysis: The 24-year-old was previously off the ice with an illness but it now appears that he simply doesn't have a spot in coach Peter Horachek's lineup. As a result, Tim Erixon is a lackluster option across all formats until he sees some time on the ice.

Leafs' Erixon (Illness) Late Scratch Saturday

News: Tim Erixon (illness) will not play in Saturday's game against the Canucks, Paul Hendrick of Leafs TV reports.
Analysis: Tim Erixon was originally on track to play in Saturday's game, but was scratched right before the puck dropped because he was too ill to take the ice. He should be considered day-to-day ahead of Monday's game against the Oilers.

Leafs' Erixon Feeling Healthy

News: Coach Peter Horachek said Tim Erixon (illness) will be available for Saturday's game against the Blues, NHL.com reports.
Analysis: Tim Erixon missed Thursday's game against the Lightning with the illness, but appears to be back to full health. Even though he's ostensibly good to go, Erixon isn't guaranteed a regular spot in the Maple Leafs' lineup and could still be at risk of being a healthy scratch.

Leafs' Erixon Iffy For Thursday

News: Tim Erixon (illness) is questionable to play Thursday against the Lightning, TSN's Jonas Siegel reports.
Analysis: Tim Erixon, who was claimed on waivers from Chicago on Sunday, suited up for his first game in a Toronto uniform on Tuesday, seeing 15:52 worth of ice time in the process.

Leafs' Erixon (Illness) Out Thursday

News: Tim Erixon (illness) will not play in Thursday's game against Tampa Bay.
Analysis: Tim Erixon was considered questionable due to a viral illness, after being claimed off waivers from the Blackhawks on Sunday. He saw 15:52 of ice time in his Leafs' debut Tuesday against the Panthers, and he can be considered questionable for Saturday's game against St. Louis.

Erixon Claimed By Toronto

News: Tim Erixon was claimed by the Maple Leafs on Sunday, Michael Russo of the Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: Chicago put Tim Erixon on waivers Saturday as he was rather unproductive for them this season and often scratched despite his full bill of health. A change of scenery won't likely boost Erixon's value, however, and he should continue to see limited ice time with his third team of the 2014-15 season.

Hawks' Erixon Placed On Waivers

News: The Blackhawks placed Tim Erixon on waivers on Saturday, ESPN Chicago reports.
Analysis: Tim Erixon has mainly served as a healthy scratch for the Blackhawks after being acquired in December from the Blue Jackets for Jeremy Morin. The blueliner has zero points while averaging 9:59 of ice time in eight games for the Blackhawks this season, but was a member of the lineup for the last two games after sitting out the preceding 16 consecutive games, mostly as a healthy scratch. If he goes unclaimed during the waiver period, Erixon will likely be sent down to AHL Rockford.

Blackhawks' Erixon Remains Healthy Scratch

News: Tim Erixon will be a healthy scratch for Tuesday's game against the Panthers, Tracey Myers of CSN Chicago reports.
Analysis: Tim Erixon dealt with a lower-body injury a little over a week ago, but he appears sufficiently recovered at this point. He's had a tough time cracking the lineup since arriving in Chicago in a Dec. 14 trade, appearing in only six games with his new club.

Blackhawks Erixon (Lower Body) Scratched Sunday

News: Tim Erixon (lower body) was scratched for Sunday's game against the Penguins, Jason Mackey of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Analysis: Tim Erixon skated at practice Saturday, so it's possible he is just a healthy scratch for Sunday's game. His next chance to return to the lineup will come Wednesday against the Red Wings.

Hawks' Erixon Gets In A Skate Saturday

News: Tim Erixon (lower body) was present for Saturday's practice, ESPN Chicago reports.
Analysis: Tim Erixon had been unavailable for the team's previous two games due to the injury, but he could be a lineup option for Sunday's tilt with the Penguins. Even so, he's been a healthy scratch for much of his tenure with the Blackhawks, making it difficult to determine when his return to action might actually arrive.

Blackhawks Rule Out Erixon For Friday

News: Tim Erixon (lower body) will not be available to play Friday against the Devils, NHL.com's Brian Hedger reports.
Analysis: Tim Erixon suffered the injury while working out in the gym a couple days ago. Prior to that, he had served as a healthy scratch for all of the Blackhawks' games since the All-Star break, so he wasn't expected to play Friday in any case. The team is listing Erixon as day-to-day.

Blackhawks' Erixon Day-To-Day With Injury

News: Tim Erixon is dealing with a lower-body injury and is being labeled as day-to-day, ESPN Chicago reports.
Analysis: Since being acquired by the Blackhawks in mid-December, Tim Erixon has appeared in only six games with the team. He hasn't suited up in a contest since the All-Star break, so it seems likely he suffered the injury during a recent practice. Erixon's expected absence for Wednesday's game will further solidify Michal Rozsival's spot on the Blackhawks' third pairing.

Hawks' Erixon In Lineup For Sunday's Game

News: Tim Erixon, who was traded to the Blackhawks from the Blue Jackets on Sunday morning, will be in the lineup against Calgary on Sunday night, the Blackhawks website reports.
Analysis: Tim Erixon was traded for the disgruntled Jeremy Morin this morning and sped his way to Chicago. He will be on the left side on the line with Michael Rozsival against the Flames. In 19 games this season for the Blue Jackets, Erixon has scored a goal and assisted on five while recording a minus-3 rating.

Jackets Ship Erixon To Blackhawks

News: Tim Erixon was traded to the Blackhawks on Sunday.
Analysis: Tim Erixon was moved to Chicago for Jeremy Morin, and could provide the Hawks with another body along the blue line. In 19 games this season, he has scored a goal and assisted on five while recording a minus-3 rating.

Jackets' Erixon Notches Two Assists Friday

News: Tim Erixon picked up a pair of power-play assists in Friday's win over Philadelphia.
Analysis: In just 15 games this season, Tim Erixon has already recorded a career-high six points (one goal). He has picked up all but one of his points on the power play, where he lines up alongside superstar Ryan Johansen and 2014-15 breakout sensation Nick Foligno. Erixon has never played more than 31 games in a season, but is likely to surpass that this year. The 23-year-old won't produce big offensive totals, but as long as he remains on the Blue Jackets' power play, 20-30 points are within reach.

Two Assists For Jackets' Erixon

News: Tim Erixon assisted on two scores in Saturday's 7-4 loss to the Lightning.
Analysis: Tim Erixon and defensive partner James Wisniewski combined for five assists on the evening, salvaging something out of a game in which the Columbus blue line was whipped by the Bolts' offensive attack. Still, the two-point game doubled Erixon's scoring production from his previous 12 games on the season, so until he starts producing offense with more regularity, he's unlikely to generate much fantasy appeal.

Jackets' Erixon Gets First Career Goal In Loss

News: Tim Erixon notched a goal, the first of his career, in Sunday's 5-2 loss to the Kings.
Analysis: Tim Erixon was only on the ice for 7:29, of which over two minutes came with the man advantage. His usage on the power play, in which he got the goal, could provide the occasional scoring chance, but otherwise he doesn't hold a ton of fantasy value in most formats.

Jackets' Erixon Notches First Point Saturday

News: Tim Erixon picked up his first point of the season on Saturday, an assist in a 3-2 loss to the Senators.
Analysis: He hasn't looked out of place so far on the Blue Jackets' blue line, but with Ryan Murray (knee) nearing his return to the lineup Tim Erixon may be headed to the press box soon.

Blue Jackets' Erixon To Return To Action Monday

News: Tim Erixon (leg) will play in Monday's exhibition against the Predators.
Analysis: Tim Erixon had been sidelined since taking a shot to the leg in the team's exhibition opener, but looks to be fine after returning to practice Sunday. He's still in contention to nail down a roster spot as the Blue Jackets' seventh defenseman.

Jackets' Erixon Suffers Leg Injury Sunday

News: Tim Erixon left Sunday's exhibition game against the Hurricanes in the third period after blocking a shot, the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Jackets' assistant coach Craig Hartsburg, who was behind the bench for the split-squad game, thinks the injury is just a minor leg bruise, so Tim Erixon shouldn't miss much time. Unless the injury proves to be serious, he'll still likely to break camp as the club's seventh defenseman.

Jackets Sign Erixon To One-Year Deal

News: Tim Erixon signed a one-year deal with the Blue Jackets on Tuesday.
Analysis: The 23-year-old defenseman notched five goals, 33 assists and 16 penalty minutes in 40 games for the AHL's Springfield Falcons. He also appeared in two games for Columbus, tallying one hit and one shot on goal in 28:41 of ice time.

Blue Jackets Assign Erixon To AHL Springfield

News: The Blue Jackets assigned Tim Erixon to AHL Springfield on Friday.
Analysis: Tim Erixon did not play after being recalled in late March, and he appeared in just two games with Columbus all season. He did tally 33 points in 36 games with Springfield this season, so he may compete for a more prominent role next season.
