Rangers Send Miller To Minors

News: J.T. Miller was assigned to AHL Hartford on Friday.
Analysis: A demotion seemed imminent for J.T. Miller after he was a healthy scratch in both of the Rangers' last two games. The 21-year-old should benefit from more consistent ice time in the minors, and could return to the big club quickly if he's able to rediscover his scoring touch with Hartford.

Rangers' Miller Healthy Scratched Tuesday

News: J.T. Miller will be a healthy scratch Tuesday against the Islanders, The Record reports.
Analysis: With a minus-4 rating and no points through three games, J.T. Miller will be benched in favor of Ryan Malone on Tuesday as coach Alain Vigneault looks for a spark from his bottom-six forwards. Miller has probably built up enough goodwill to make Tuesday's scratch a temporary arrangement, but he'll clearly need to improve his performance in subsequent games if he hopes to avoid a demotion to AHL Hartford.

Rangers' Miller Off To Slow Start

News: J.T. Miller has gone minus-4 with just seven shots on goal in three games played this season.
Analysis: The good news is the third-line center has been north of 50 percent in the faceoff circle over the last two contests. Considering the team's injuries (Mats Zuccarello, Derek Stepan) at forward and his current battle to reacclimate himself to the center slot, the 21-year-old has more rope, but just enough to hang himself. Should his struggles continue, Hartford Wolf Pack centermen Oscar Lindberg and Chris Mueller might end up displacing the gritty J.T. Miller. Both players logged a pair of points for Hartford on Sunday.

Miller Nabs Two Assists in Rangers' Loss

News: J.T. Miller had a pair of assists in Sunday's preseason loss to New Jersey.
Analysis: It's certainly a nice start considering the former first round pick has just 12 points in 60 career games, but let's not get too ahead of ourselves. Most importantly, his two-way play from the center position looked sharp. J.T. Miller logged just under 15-minutes of ice time with third liners Lee Stempniak and Mats Zuccarello. Because the 20-year-old has considerable upside he could become the occasional sleeper pick if he continues at this clip.

Rangers' Miller Slots As Center

News: J.T. Miller will be used at the center position during the team's training camp this month, reports Andrew Gross of The Record.
Analysis: With the summer amnesty buyout of Brad Richards and an already glaring depth issue at the position, it's no surprise that head coach Alain Vigneault will look to plug a hole with depth from the wing. The still just 21-year-old J.T. Miller has solid potential, but just five goals and 10 points through 56 career games in the NHL. Nonetheless, being tabbed as a center gives him an inside track to make the team on opening night.

Rangers To Give Miller Clear Path?

News: J.T. Miller is being considered as an internal replacement to center the Rangers' fourth line, reports Andrew Gross of The Record.
Analysis: J.T. Miller, listed as a center, registered six points over 30 sporadic games played in the 2013-14 campaign. Mostly used as a winger by head coach Alain Vigneault, the 21-year-old's fantasy value could increase if the team is reluctant to sign a mid-tier forward this summer. At the very least, as long the former first-round pick doesn't have a disastrous training camp, he's nearly a lock to make the roster out of camp.

Rangers' Miller Healthy

News: J.T. Miller (shoulder) will be available for Game 2 on Saturday.
Analysis: J.T. Miller has recovered enough from his shoulder to be available to play Saturday, although he's still not expected to suit up. The center has suited up for four games this postseason, recording two assists and a plus-3 rating.

Rangers' Miller Practices Tuesday

News: J.T. Miller (shoulder) skated with the Rangers during Tuesday's team practice, ESPN New York's Katie Strang reports.
Analysis: J.T. Miller suffered a suspected shoulder injury during Game 4 of the Eastern Conference finals and had not practiced or played since. Now that he's back on the ice, Miller could be available for Wednesday's Stanley Cup Final Game 1. Look for status updates as we get closer to game time.

Rangers' Miller (Shoulder) Could Practice Soon

News: J.T. Miller (shoulder) hopes to return to practice Tuesday, The Record reports.
Analysis: J.T. Miller missed both Game 4 and 5 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals while nursing the shoulder injury. He's been absent from the team's recent practices, though skated on his own following Sunday's session. He'll use Monday as another day of rest before potentially returning Tuesday.

Rangers' Miller (Shoulder) Skates Sunday

News: J.T. Miller (shoulder) didn't practice with the team on Sunday, but did skate on his own afterwards, NHL.com's Jim Cerny reports.
Analysis: J.T. Miller is still "a couple of more days" away from being ready to play, but the fact that he is on the ice skating is a good sign. He missed Game 4 and 5 of the Eastern Conference finals, but appears to be on track to return at some point during the series for the cup.

Rangers' Miller Still Days Away

News: J.T. Miller skated after the team practice on Sunday, reports Andrew Gross of The Record.
Analysis: Head coach Alain Vigneault was quoted later saying J.T. Miller is still "day's away" from returning. With the Stanley Cup finals not beginning until Wednesday, June 4, there's still time for the young forward to heal his ailing right shoulder. The 21-year-old Ohio native has registered a plus-3 with two assists in four games dressed this postseason.

Shoulder Injury Suspected For Rangers' Miller

News: J.T. Miller is dealing with a suspected right shoulder injury and was not on the ice for Thursday's morning skate, Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News reports.
Analysis: This would more than likely indicate that J.T. Miller will sit out Thursday's Game 6, marking the second consecutive game he'll have missed. The Rangers will also be without winger Daniel Carcillo and defenseman John Moore, both of whom are serving suspensions.

Rangers' Miller Does Not Travel With Team

News: J.T. Miller (upper body) did not travel with the Rangers to Montreal for Tuesday's Game 5, The Record reports.
Analysis: Williams is dealing with an upper body injury, which he appeared to suffer during Sunday's Game 4. The team has not disclosed the nature of the injury, but it's apparently severe enough to rule him out more than 24 hours before Game 5. In his absence, both Jesper Fast and Oscar Lindberg could see increased ice time, particularly if Derek Stepan (jaw) also sits out.

Rangers' Miller Fine After Leaving Early Sunday

News: J.T. Miller saw just 3:09 of action in Sunday's Game 4 win over the Canadiens.
Analysis: J.T. Miller appeared to suffer a left shoulder injury while skating toward the crease in the second period, but returned to the Rangers bench for third period. He didn't end up playing in the final period, with coach Alain Vigneault stating after the game that Miller was fine but was too out of the flow to be trusted, according to the Bergen Record. Miller should be expected to suit up for Game 5, though that plan could change if his shoulder starts acting up on him before Tuesday.

Miller Back In For Rangers

News: J.T. Miller got into the lineup for Monday's Game 3 loss to Pittsburgh, skating 11:34 with three hits, but no points and no shots on goal.
Analysis: The Rangers were looking for some more offense by inserting J.T. Miller and Jesper Fast in the lineup, but it clearly didn't pay off. Miller did have a couple strong shifts, but right now, what the Rangers need is some of the offensive magic he showed in the AHL this season.

Rangers' Miller A Scratch For Game 7

News: J.T. Miller will be a healthy scratch for Wednesday's Game 7 against the Flyers, the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: Despite recording two assists in two postseason games, J.T. Miller will be scratched in favor of Dan Carcillo, who has not played since Game 4.

Rangers' Miller Collects Assist In Win

News: J.T. Miller registered an assist in a 4-2 Game 5 win over Philadelphia on Sunday.
Analysis: J.T. Miller, making his NHL postseason debut, managed to get on the scorer's sheet with just over 10 minutes of ice time. How's that for getting out of the coach's doghouse? While his spot in Game 6 is far from guaranteed, his willingness to battle along the boards will go a long way with head coach Alain Vigneault.

Rangers' Miller to Dress Against Flyers

News: J.T. Miller will dress for Game 5 against the Flyers on Sunday, reports Jim Cerny of the team's official site.
Analysis: A pivotol game, head coach Alain Vigneault's move to insert J.T. Miller over a productive Daniel Carcillo was speculated, but still comes as a bit as a surprise. Also noted in the report, the 21-year-old was observed during warm-ups doing line rushes with second-line forwards Brad Richards and Carl Hagelin. Miller, who was a minus-13 with five goals and five assists through 56 games played was said to be in in Vigneault's dog house. Perhaps Vigneault is hoping for something similar to the Ohio native's two-goal performance in just his second NHL game against the Islanders last season.

Miller Healthy Scratch In Rangers' Win

News: J.T. Miller served as a healthy scratch in the team's 4-1, Game 1 victory over Philadelphia on Thursday.
Analysis: Although he was recalled from AHL Hartford prior to the start of the series, there's no guarantee the gritty winger with offensive upside will actually dress in the first round. For now, it appears the organization's other highly touted young winger, Jesper Fast, has the inside track on the team's 12th forward spot and with Fast getting an assist in his playoff debut, J.T. Miller will be on the outside looking in for now.

Rangers Recall Miller

News: The Rangers recalled J.T. Miller from AHL Hartford on Monday.
Analysis: The center will join the roster in advance of Thursday's Game 1 against the Flyers. J.T. Miller split time between the AHL and NHL this season, but was able to collect three goals and three assists in 30 games with the Rangers.

Rangers Reassign Miller To AHL Hartford

News: J.T. Miller was reassigned to AHL Hartford on Wednesday, ESPN's Katie Strang reports.
Analysis: J.T. Miller has been back-and-forth between Hartford and New York this season, playing at least 30 games for each club. He's accumulated six points for the Rangers, but with relatively healthy front lines, New York won't be needing his services right now.

Rangers' Miller To Be Scratched.

News: J.T. Miller may not dress against Edmonton on Sunday, reports Andrew Gross of The Bergen Record.
Analysis: J.T. Miller, who did not play in the third period of Friday's loss in Calgary, seems to have found head coach Alain Vigneault's doghouse. Perhaps it's not that bad yet, but the diverse young winger certainly appears to be on a very short leash. Unless you are in the deepest of leagues or dynasty format, this news should have no impact on fantasy owners.

Rangers Recall Miller

News: The Rangers recalled J.T. Miller from AHL Hartford on Wednesday.
Analysis: J.T. Miller just missed being called up Monday when a few of the Rangers' forwards caught the flu bug, but will get a chance to get back into the lineup now that Chris Kreider (hand) is expected to miss at least a month. Miller recorded three goals and three assists in 28 games with the Rangers earlier this season.

Rangers' Miller Not Recalled

News: Updating a prior report, J.T. Miller was not recalled by the Rangers on Monday, Katie Strang of ESPN reports.
Analysis: It was originally reported that J.T. Miller would be recalled to fill in on an emergency basis, but it sounds like that won't be necessary. This is great news for owners of Martin St. Louis or Derek Stepan, both of whom are game-time decisions with the flu.

Rangers Recall Miller

News: J.T. Miller was recalled from AHL Hartford Steve Zipay of Newsday reports.
Analysis: With the likes of Martin St. Louis, Derek Stepan and Derek Dorsett all questionable for Monday's game against the Coyotes due to illness, J.T. Miller will join the Rangers on an emergency basis. Look for him to step into the lineup if one or more of those players in deemed unavailable.
