Flyers' Akeson Sent Down To AHL

News: Jason Akeson will be sent back down to AHL Lehigh Valley on Saturday, Randy Miller of NJ.com reports.
Analysis: Jason Akeson was called up earlier in the day Saturday, but was scratched from the lineup against San Jose. Oliver Lauridsen and Mark Alt were also sent down to the AHL after Saturday's game.

Flyers Bring Back Akeson From Minors

News: Jason Akeson was recalled from AHL Lehigh Valley on Saturday, Tim Panaccio of CSN Philadelphia reports.
Analysis: Jason Akeson will give the Flyers some depth after both Wayne Simmonds (leg) and RJ Umberger (hip) were recently ruled out for the season. After claiming an opening night roster spot for the Flyers, Akeson was demoted to the minors in November after failing to register a point in any of his 12 games.

Flyers Send Akeson To AHL

News: The Flyers have sent Jason Akeson to AHL Lehigh Valley.
Analysis: Jason Akeson was called up by the Flyers in case Matt Read (flu) wasn't able to play Saturday against the Sabres, but Read ended up playing, with Akeson thus made a healthy scratch by the team.

Flyers Recall Akeson

News: Jason Akeson was recalled from AHL Lehigh Valley on Saturday.
Analysis: The Flyers moved defenseman Braydon Coburn (lower body) to open up the 23-man roster spot for Jason Akeson. With Scott Laughton nursing an upper-body ailment, Akeson's arrival will help the Flyers restore some depth at forward. However, Akeson's opportunities to join the lineup could be limited, as he was a total non-factor after earning a roster spot with the parent club out of training camp. He was held without a point over 12 games with Philadelphia before getting placed on waivers.

Flyers' Akeson Clears Waivers

News: Jason Akeson cleared waivers and was assigned to AHL Lehigh Valley on Friday.
Analysis: The 24-year-old went unclaimed after failing to muster a single point over 12 games with the Flyers. Playing outside of a top-six role seemed to be his downfall with the Flyers, but he's proven to be a potent scorer in the AHL when he receives more consistent minutes.

Flyers Waive Akeson

News: Jason Akeson was waived by the Flyers on Thursday, Darren Dreger of TSN reports.
Analysis: Jason Akeson received the opportunity to compete for a top-six role with the Flyers in training camp, but was never able to gain much momentum in the job battle. Forced to settle for checking-line duties for most of the season, Akeson has predictably struggled to provide much offense, accumulating no points and seven shots on goal over 12 games. The Flyers will hope to sneak him back to AHL Lehigh Valley in an attempt to help him rediscover his scoring touch.

Flyers Send Akeson To Press Box Saturday

News: Jason Akeson will be a healthy scratch Saturday against the Stars, Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Analysis: Jason Akeson hasn't taken well to checking-line duty in the first two weeks of the season, accruing no points through four games. While he has shown a willingness to hit (seven) in his limited ice time, he's unlikely to yield much fantasy value so long as he remains outside of the team's top-six forward ranks.

Flyers' Akeson Scores In Preseason Finale

News: Jason Akeson scored on a nifty backhand in Thursday's 3-2 shootout loss to the Capitals.
Analysis: Jason Akeson flashed some energy at the end of last season, and his enthusiasm figures to make him a fan favorite. As a fourth-liner, his ice-time limitations diminish his fantasy value, so he'll go undrafted in many leagues. But his knack for scoring makes him a nice value pick in late rounds.

Flyers' Akeson On Track To Land Fourth-Line Role

News: Jason Akeson is expected to win a role with the Flyers as a fourth-line winger, Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Analysis: While making his first Opening Night roster would certainly represent an accomplishment for Jason Akeson, there was hope heading into training camp that the 24-year-old might be asked to fill a role in the team's top six, following the departure of Scott Hartnell. A prodigious point-scorer during his time at AHL Adirondack and a pleasant surprise for the Flyers in their first-round playoff loss to the Rangers last spring, Akeson seems to have more offensive potential than the typical fourth liner, but a lack of quality linemates could prove detrimental. Still, Akeson remains worth tracking in the event an injury or ineffective play from one of the Flyers' wings forces him up the depth chart.

Akeson Re-Signs With Flyers

News: The Flyers have re-signed Jason Akeson to a one-year, two-way contract, csnphilly.com reports.
Analysis: After leading AHL Adirondack in scoring (with 64 points in 70 games) this past season, Jason Akeson suited up for seven playoff games with the big club. In the process, he recorded two goals and an assist, an effort that should get him a long look with the Flyers come training camp.

Flyers' Akeson Scores In Loss

News: Jason Akeson scored the team's lone goal in Wednesday's Game 7 loss to the Rangers.
Analysis: Jason Akeson managed to rip a slapshot past Henrik Lundqvist early in the third period to bring the Flyers within one, but their comeback attempt fell short in the end. Akeson played just one regular season game, but was productive in seven playoff appearances, recording two goals and an assist.

Flyers' Akeson Scores Goal

News: Jason Akeson netted a power-play goal against the Rangers in Game 2 on Sunday.
Analysis: Jason Akeson has two regular season NHL games to his name, but now he has played in two playoff games this year, and has a power-play goal. Perhaps he will have a bigger role than anybody expected.

Flyers' Akeson Collects Assist In Second NHL Game

News: Jason Akeson made his first NHL appearance of the season in the Flyers' final regular-season game, collecting an assist in just over 13 minutes of ice time.
Analysis: The young winger has collected 64 points in a 70-game campaign with the Flyers' AHL affiliate. This was his second NHL game, and he's notched points in both. With a history of scoring in the AHL as well as in juniors, the undrafted winger could have a chance to break in with the Flyers for good next year.

Flyers' Akeson Makes NHL Debut; Nets First NHL Goal

News: Jason Akeson scored his first career NHL goal in Saturday's win over Ottawa. Saturday was also his NHL debut.
Analysis: He'll remember this one for a long time -- it was set up by the excellent Claude Giroux.

Flyers Recall Akeson

News: The Flyers recalled Jason Akeson from AHL Adirondack on Monday.
Analysis: Jason Akeson has recorded a line of 20/33/53 in 62 games with the Phantoms this season.
