Sens' Borowiecki Has Sports Hernia

News: Mark Borowiecki played through a sports hernia during the Senators' first-round playoff series loss to the Canadiens, TSN.ca reports.
Analysis: Mark Borowiecki is hoping to avoid surgery to address the matter, but even if that is deemed necessary, it shouldn't impact his availability for the start of upcoming campaign. The defenseman finished 2014-15 with 11 points, 107 PIM, and 233 hits over 63 games.

Sens' Borowiecki Picks Up Assist In Win

News: Mark Borowiecki gathered an assist in Thursday's win over the Canadiens.
Analysis: Mark Borowiecki has produced two of his nine points on the season in the last three games, but that shouldn't be taken as a sign that an offensive outbreak is imminent. He's only attempted one shot over that span, instead delivering most of his most value in the form of hits and blocked shots.

Sens' Borowiecki Activated, But Sitting Again

News: Mark Borowiecki (leg) has been activated from injured reserve, but will not play in Thursday's game against the Stars, the Ottawa Citizen reports.
Analysis: Mark Borowiecki has been medically cleared to return, but coach Dave Cameron will send him to the press box for another game. While it appears Borowiecki is fully healthy, it remains unknown if he'll get the call to return to the lineup Saturday against the Coyotes.

Sens' Borowiecki Practices Wednesday

News: Mark Borowiecki was a full participant in Wednesday's practice and says he is fully recovered from his leg laceration, Chris Hofley of the Ottawa Sun reports.
Analysis: Mark Borowiecki suffered a severe cut to his leg while warming up for a Dec. 29 game, ultimately requiring over 40 stitches to seal the gash. He was cleared to resume skating over a week ago and doesn't seem to be feeling any restrictions with his leg, putting him on the cusp of a return to action. The blueliner, who skated with Patrick Wiercioch on the Sens' third pairing at Wednesday's practice, could be activated from IR in advance of Thursday's tilt with the Stars.

Sens' Borowiecki (Leg) Takes To Ice

News: Mark Borowiecki (leg) skated on his own Thursday morning, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports.
Analysis: Coach Dave Cameron said the club has no timetable for Mark Borowiecki's return. Don't expect the Senators to provide much of an update on his condition until he starts practicing with the rest of the team.

Sens' Borowiecki (Leg) Likely To Miss A Week-Plus

News: Mark Borowiecki (leg) will remain in a walking boot for the next week, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports.
Analysis: Ottawa's team doctors will wait and see how Mark Borowiecki heals up during that time before deciding on his next course of action. The blueliner required 48 stitches to seal up a laceration on his leg suffered during a pre-game soccer activity Monday night.

Sens' Borowiecki (Leg Laceration) Placed On IR

News: Mark Borowiecki (left leg laceration) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday.
Analysis: Mark Borowiecki was scratched prior to Monday's game against the Sabres after suffering the severe cut on his leg while kicking a soccer ball around with teammates as a warm-up activity, according to Yahoo! Sports. It sounds like the injury could be a long-term concern, as Borowiecki required around 60 stitches to close the gash. The Senators could arrive at a firmer recovery timetable for the blueliner in the coming days.

Sens To Get Borowiecki Back Tuesday

News: Mark Borowiecki (undisclosed) will return to the lineup Tuesday night against the islanders, reports the Ottawa Sun.
Analysis: He missed two games with the injury. Mark Borowiecki's main fantasy value to this point has come in the form of PIM, as he's compiled 44 minutes in 18 games this year. He's also laid 60 hits, which certainly helps in specialty formats.

Sens' Borowiecki Out With Injury Friday

News: Mark Borowiecki will miss Friday's game against the Panthers due to an unspecified injury, Gord Wilson of TSN 1200 Ottawa reports.
Analysis: The Senators will swap out one injured defenseman for another, as the now-healthy Chris Phillips will rejoin the lineup while Mark Borowiecki sits. It's not certain how Borowiecki obtained the injury, but he'll be considered day-to-day until the Senators shed further light on his condition.

Senators' Borowiecki To Play Thursday

News: Mark Borowiecki (undisclosed) will play in Thursday's game against the Wild, Ian Mendes of TSN 1200 reports.
Analysis: Mark Borowiecki will return to action after missing the last three games. He will likely open Thursday's game as part of the top defensive pairing, but several other defenders will also get a chance to skate alongside Erik Karlsson in Thursday's game.

Sens' Borowiecki Practices Wednesday

News: Mark Borowiecki (undisclosed) was on the ice for Wednesday's practice, Wayne Scanlan of the Ottawa Citizen reports.
Analysis: The defenseman has missed the past three games with an injury, but his availability during practice suggests he may be closing in on a return. Ottawa lost Chris Phillips to a lower-body injury Tuesday night and could be without his services Thursday against Minnesota, potentially creating an opening for Mark Borowiecki to reenter the lineup if the team signs off on his health.

Sens' Borowiecki Misses Practice

News: Mark Borowiecki (undisclosed) did not practice Monday, Steve Lloyd of TSN reports.
Analysis: Mark Borowiecki has already sat out two games with the injury, and considering there's no word on what exactly is ailing the blueliner, there's still no timetable for his return at this point. Patrick Wiercioch will continue to fill in for Borowiecki while he recovers.

Sens' Borowiecki To Miss Another Game

News: Mark Borowiecki (undisclosed) will not be a lineup option for Saturday's game against the Bruins, Wayne Scanlan of the Ottawa Citizen reports.
Analysis: Mark Borowiecki will miss his second straight contest while he tends to the undisclosed injury. Patrick Wiercioch will once again occupy Borowiecki's spot in the Sens' lineup.

Senators' Borowiecki Out Thursday

News: Mark Borowiecki will not play in Thursday's game against the Blackhawks due to an injury suffered in Tuesday's game, Ian Mendes of TSN 1200 reports.
Analysis: It's not clear what type of injury Mark Borowiecki is dealing with or how long he will be out, as head coach Paul MacLean said only that he will not play Thursday night when asked. Without further details available, it remains to be seen whether Borowiecki will miss further action.

Sens' Borowiecki Receives Three-Year Extension

News: Mark Borowiecki and the Senators agreed to terms on a three-year, $3.3 million contract Monday, Ken Warren of the Ottawa Citizen reports.
Analysis: Mark Borowiecki was already set to enter the upcoming season with a guaranteed NHL contract for the first time in his career, so the extension just give him some more long-term security with the Senators. The 25-year-old hasn't shown much of a knack for scoring with the Senators or at AHL Binghamton over the last several seasons, but with regular playing time, he could rank among the league's PIM leaders on the blue line.

Senators Send Borowiecki To AHL

News: Mark Borowiecki was re-assigned to AHL Binghamton by the Senators on Monday.
Analysis: Mark Borowiecki has not had a very solid start to the season for the Senators, totaling one goal in 13 games. With the team struggling recently, they have opted to shake up the roster a little, so Borowiecki will work on his game in the AHL.

Sens' Borowiecki Out Wednesday

News: Mark Borowiecki (neck) will not play Wednesday against the Capitals, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports.
Analysis: Mark Borowiecki has had a stiff neck since being boarded by the Hurricanes' Kevin Westgarth on Sunday, and the Sens don't want to be left with five defenseman if it flares up during the game. Head coach Paul MacLean did say that he could play if needed, so he shouldn't be out too long, but Joe Corvo will take his place on the blue line for Wednesday's contest.

Sens' Borowiecki Expected To Play Wednesday

News: Mark Borowiecki (knee) is expected to play Wednesday vs. the Capitals, Wayne Scanlan of the Ottawa Citizen reports.
Analysis: Mark Borowiecki was on the ice for Tuesday's morning skate and experienced no issues while moving around, likely clearing him to return to the lineup Wednesday. He sustained the injury in Sunday on an illegal hit into the boards by Carolina's Kevin Westgarth, who was handed a two-game suspension Tuesday for the infraction.

Senators' Borowiecki Has Stiff Neck

News: Mark Borowiecki injured his neck during Saturday's game but is expected to be okay, TSN's Ian Mendes reports.
Analysis: Mark Borowiecki left Saturday's loss to Carolina, after taking a controversial hit from Kevin Westgarth. With the Sens off until Wednesday, Borowiecki probably won't miss any time, though he should still be considered day-to-day.

Sens Recall Borowiecki From AHL Binghamton

News: The Senators have called up Mark Borowiecki from AHL Binghamton on Saturday, James Gordon of the Ottawa Citizen reports.
Analysis: Mark Borowiecki has zero points and 27 penalty minutes for Binghamton this year, but can be a force in front of his own net when necessary. With the Senators' goalies facing so many shots, Borowiecki is expected to help alleviate some of the pressure. He's not likely to contribute much in the way of fantasy stat, though.

Strong Preseason Continues For Sens' Borowiecki

News: Mark Borowiecki picked up an assist in Tuesday's preseason win over the Leafs.
Analysis: He's now got two points in three games of preseason action, and for those whose leagues count PIM, hits and blocks, he's racked up seven, eight and six, respectively. The 24-year-old blueliner doesn't have much of an offensive game, so don't expect this point production to carry over into the regular season, but he's a feisty pugilist who's capable of delivering the goods on those secondary stats.

Sens Re-Sign Borowiecki

News: The Senators signed Mark Borowiecki to a two-year extension Wednesday.
Analysis: The defenseman's contract will be a two-way deal next season, but turn into a one-way contract for the 2014-15 campaign. Mark Borowiecki played in six games for the Senators last year and failed to crack the score sheet, although he did rack up 18 PIMs.
