Rangers' Hagelin Scores In Win

News: Carl Hagelin scored the opening goal of a 4-0 win over the Sharks on Sunday.
Analysis: After setting a career high in goals last season with 17, Carl Hagelin had yet to record a point this season until Sunday. Hagelin could have some fantasy value if he can improve on his point totals from last season, but his slow start is worth keeping an eye before taking a chance on him.

Rangers' Hagelin Showcases Speed In Game 1

News: Carl Hagelin scored his second shorthanded goal of the playoffs in Wednesday's Game 1 loss to the Kings.
Analysis: Although Carl Hagelin's goal deflected off a King and into the net, he created the chance out of nothing with his incredible speed. Hags used his legs to create a couple other big-time breakaway chances in this game, and even though he was awarded the third star, he'll probably be haunted by his failure to finish on those opportunities.

Rangers' Hagelin Tallies Two Points

News: Carl Hagelin scored a shorthanded goal and added an assist on the overtime winner in Sunday's Game 4 against the Canadiens.
Analysis: Carl Hagelin now has six goals and four assists in these playoffs, with the Rangers looking likely to move on to the next round.

Rangers' Hagelin Flying In Game 3 Loss

News: Carl Hagelin scored the Rangers' first goal and co-led the team with five shots in Thursday's Game 3 loss to Montreal.
Analysis: Hags was flying all night, using his speed to great advantage, and as a result, he continues to see his ice time rise -- he skated 17:16 in this one, almost entirely alongside Martin St. Louis, who assisted on his goal, and Brad Richards.

Rangers' Hagelin Scores Winner

News: Carl Hagelin scored the game-winning goal and was a plus-2 against the Penguins in Sunday's Game 6.
Analysis: Carl Hagelin has four goals in this postseason, and seven points, but the Rangers need to win their upcoming Game 7 to continue their playoff run.

Hagelin Rare Bright Spot For Rangers In Game 6

News: Carl Hagelin was one of the Rangers' few bright spots in Tuesday's Game 6 loss to Philadelphia, as he took seven shots on goal (matching his total from the previous five games combined) and found twine for the first time since Game 1.
Analysis: Carl Hagelin's had a well-rounded series for fantasy purposes, with four points, 10 PIM and a plus-2 rating. The speedy winger used his legs to good effect in this one, but unfortunately, the rest of the Rangers weren't up to the task.

Rangers' Hagelin Continues Feisty Play in Win

News: Carl Hagelin notched an assist and six penalty minutes in a 4-2 Game 5 victory over Philadelphia on Sunday.
Analysis: Much like his line-mate Brad Richards, the Rangers are much more likely to come away with a win when the speedy Carl Hagelin gets involved in the scoring. Hag has a goal, two assists and 10 penalty minutes through five postseason games thus far.

Rangers' Hagelin Draws Big Penalty, Nets Goal

News: Carl Hagelin found the back of the net for a goal on three shots in a 4-1 win over Philadelphia on Thursday.
Analysis: More important than the goal, Carl Hagelin drew a critical double-minor penalty on Jason Akeson for high-sticking. The Rangers' power play would end up scoring on both man advantages, completely changing the momentum of the contest. The 25-year-old winger now has 10 points (four goals) through 30 career playoff games.

Stat-Stuffing Night For Rangers' Hagelin

News: Carl Hagelin racked up two assists, a plus-3 rating, two PIM and four shots on goal in Monday's overtime win over Phoenix.
Analysis: A fine game for Carl Hagelin, who used his speed to good effect and was very noticeable on the offensive end, including firing the shot that Brad Richards deflected in for the Rangers' first goal. It's been a slow year for Hags, but he's finally on a nice run, having gathered seven points in his last six games.

Rangers' Hagelin: Goal Disallowed On Sunday

News: Carl Hagelin had five shots on goal in Sunday's 1-0 loss to San Jose.
Analysis: After a harmless wrap-around attempt late in the first period seemed frozen by Sharks netminder Antti Niemi, further replays seemingly showed Niemi pull the puck back over the line. Carl Hagelin, who has 16 goals and 12 assists this season, logged just under 14-minutes of ice time.

Rangers' Hagelin Nets First Career Hat Trick

News: Carl Hagelin scored three goals to lead the Rangers past the Jets 4-2 on Friday.
Analysis: It was Carl Hagelin's first career NHL hat trick, but just his fourth goal over his last 14 games. He got off to a fairly hot start this season but had cooled dramatically over February and March. Fantasy owners should keep watch to see if he can regain some of that early-season magic and improve on his points totals for the latter part of the season. He now has 16 goals and 12 assists this year.

Hagelin Scores Goal During Win Friday

News: Carl Hagelin potted an empty-netter for his 13th goal of the season during Friday's win over Carolina.
Analysis: Carl Hagelin capped off the Rangers' comeback with an easy tally and secured the victory, the Rangers' first since returning from the Olympic break. He now has 13 goals and 12 assists through 53 games this season.

Rangers' Hagelin To Play Alongside St. Louis

News: Carl Hagelin and center Brad Richards, will play alongside newly acquired Martin St. Louis in Wednesday's tilt against Toronto, reports Steve Zipay of Newsday.
Analysis: The arrival of St. Louis' speed could result in more open looks for Carl Hagelin. The Swedish forward has hit a mini-slump, logging a minus-5 rating and just one point in his last five games.

Rangers' Hagelin Bags Two Goals For Sweden

News: Carl Hagelin tallied two goals in Sweden's 5-0 victory over Slovenia on Wednesday.
Analysis: Carl Hagelin was forced to exit Sweden's previous game against Latvia early due to an undisclosed injury, but he appeared unencumbered in this one. The two goals represented Hagelin's first points of the Olympics.

Rangers' Hagelin Expected To Play Wednesday

News: Carl Hagelin, who was forced out of Saturday's win over Latvia, will be back in the lineup Wednesday for Sweden, when they will take on the Slovenia-Austria winner, Andrew Gross of the Bergen Record reports.
Analysis: The Swedes have plenty of depth at the forward spot, which likely influenced their decision to play it safe with Carl Hagelin on Saturday after he sustained the undisclosed injury. Hagelin has been held without a point in three Olympic contests thus far.

Rangers' Hagelin Assists Twice In Rout

News: Carl Hagelin notched a pair of assists and a plus-3 rating in Tuesday's 5-1 rout of the Avalanche.
Analysis: His first assist came on a great hustle play -- he used a terrific stick check to free the puck, then his trademark speed to win the race and feed Ryan Callahan for the goal. The Swedish winger had gone a full month since his last multi-point game, a Jan. 4 two-point effort in Toronto. While he's been about the same player this year that he was last year -- one game short of last season's 48, he's one point short of last year's 24 -- it's got to be disappointing to the Rangers as well as his fantasy owners that his offensive game hasn't gone to that next level yet.

Rangers' Hagelin Finds Net

News: Carl Hagelin joined in on the fun in a 7-3 rout of the Devils on Sunday, notching a goal under the bright lights of Yankee Stadium.
Analysis: The goal marks his first point in five games and first goal in eight contests. It's been a gloomy January for the Swedish forward, who's logged just two goals and two assists in 12 games played this month. Overall, Carl Hagelin has 12 goals and eight assists through 44 games this season.

Hagelin Nets Game-Winner For Rangers

News: Carl Hagelin contributed the decisive goal in Wednesday's 3-2 defeat of the Blackhawks.
Analysis: Carl Hagelin's 11 goals on the season are tied for the team lead, but it's his penchant for the moment that has been most vital in an up-and-down season for the Blueshirts. He's now delivered four game-winning goals for the Rangers and six tallies over his last 12 games.

Rangers' Hagelin Breaks Drought

News: Carl Hagelin had a goal and an assist in Saturday's 7-1 win over Toronto.
Analysis: The speedy Swede snaps a three game drought with the multi-point effort. Since opening the season with four goals and four assists in the first seven games, assists in particular have been hard to come by. Currently logging third line minutes, Carl Hagelin has 10 goals and seven assists in 33 games played.

Rangers' Hagelin Nets Shorty In Loss

News: Carl Hagelin collected a shorthanded goal and two PIM in a 3-2 loss to Washington on Friday.
Analysis: While he's managed to rebound from a seven game point-scoring drought earlier this month with four goals in his last six games, his dwindling minutes over the past handful of games suggests the streaky Swede is a questionable start in more standard leagues. Hags, who is on pace to set a new career high in goals (14), has nine goals and six assists in 29 games played this season.

Rangers' Hagelin Scores In Second Straight Game

News: Carl Hagelin scored a goal in his second straight game Wednesday vs. the Penguins.
Analysis: After a seven-game scoreless spell, Carl Hagelin seems to be picking up his production even though he's no longer featured in a top-six role. Perhaps the recent scoring burst could force coach Alain Vigneault to move him up in the lineup.

Rangers' Hagelin Moves Up To Top Line

News: Carl Hagelin was practicing with the top line during Tuesday's practice, Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News reports.
Analysis: Coach Alain Vigneault made the move with the hope of adding an infusion of speed to complement Brad Richards and Rick Nash, who have combined for one point over the last four games. If Vigneault sticks with this setup, it would be a sizable upgrade for Carl Hagelin, who had seen his ice time decline to around 12 or 13 minutes per game while working on the third line.

Rangers' Hagelin Slowing Down?

News: Carl Hagelin failed to collect a point for the fifth time in 6 games, but did have two penalty minutes in Saturday's 2-0 win over Nashville.
Analysis: After logging eight points in his first 7 games back from shoulder surgery, Carl Hagelin has certainly cooled off as November has progressed. Considering the left-winger has been playing on the team's third line with Derick Brassard and Benoit Pouliot and averaging just over 12:30 TOI, there's little mystery about the drop in production. Perhaps head coach Alain Vigneault will see Hags' career numbers (four goals and three assists through seven career games) against Monday night's opponent Tampa Bay.

Rangers' Hagelin Scores Twice

News: Carl Hagelin contributed a pair of goals to the cause in Thursday's win over the Jackets.
Analysis: The Swede has been on fire since returning from a shoulder injury that kept him out nearly the whole first month of the season, ripping off seven points in six games to go with a plus-6 rating. The Rangers have played much better with Hags in the lineup, as his speed has clearly energized the offense -- though coming home after a long road trip hasn't hurt either.

Offensive Maturation For Rangers' Hagelin

News: Carl Hagelin was plus-2 with two penalty minutes, two shots on goal and an assist in Wednesday's 5-1 win over Pittsburgh.
Analysis: Without a doubt, it appears Carl Hagelin has put a charge into the Rangers, who are 4-1 since Hags completed his recovery from shoulder surgery. The speedy swede is plus-5 with two goals and three assists and eight penalty minutes since returning to the lineup five games ago. Coming off a breakout campaign in the lockout-shortened season, Hagelin will have an opportunity to keep improving in his top-six role with the Rangers.
