Ducks Sign Hagelin To Four-Year Deal

News: Carl Hagelin signed a four-year contract with the Ducks on Friday.
Analysis: The deal is worth a total of $16 million, per Eric Stephens of the Orange Country Register. The Ducks acquired Carl Hagelin in the Emerson Etem trade with a likely plan to sign him long term as a restricted free agent, and they accomplished that with a $4 million AAV. That kind of investment indicates they see more potential in him than just a third-line winger, but his play will ultimately have to dictate that.

Ducks Extend Qualifying Offer To Hagelin

News: Carl Hagelin was given a qualifying offer by the Ducks on Monday, the Los Angeles Times reports.
Analysis: This was a foregone conclusion after the Ducks acquired Carl Hagelin, a restricted free agent, from the Rangers at the draft. He's likely in for a raise this season and could see an uptick in minutes in his new digs, but Hagelin's offensive limitations -- mostly his mediocre shooting ability -- make him best suited for a third-line role.

Rangers Ship Hagelin To Ducks

News: The Rangers traded Carl Hagelin and the 59th and 179th overall picks in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft to the Ducks on Saturday in exchange for Emerson Etem and the 41st overall pick, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
Analysis: The move is likely related to salary, as the Rangers probably believe that Etem can provide them with Carl Hagelin-like production at a reduced cost. Although Hagelin spent most of his time as a member of the Rangers' third line in 2014-15, he could occupy a slot in the top-six role in Anaheim with the team slated to lose Matt Beleskey in free agency. Hagelin registered 35 points in 82 games with the Rangers last season, numbers that are likely to improve if he is indeed granted a bigger role with his new squad.

Rangers' Hagelin Gathers Assist In Game 4

News: Carl Hagelin was credited with an assist on Rick Nash's first-period goal in Friday's 5-1 triumph over the Lightning.
Analysis: Carl Hagelin had been held off the score sheet in the Rangers' previous nine games before collecting the helper Friday. The elusive winger can occasionally present matchup problems for the opposition, but that likely won't be the case often against the Lightning, who don't count team speed as one of their weaknesses.

Rangers' Hagelin Crushes Penguins' Cup Dreams

News: Carl Hagelin scored the series-clinching overtime-winning goal Friday against Pittsburgh in Game 5 of their first-round playoff series.
Analysis: A clutch performance from Carl Hagelin, who scored his first career NHL playoff game-winning goal. The 26-year-old is now riding a three-game point streak, helping the Rangers eliminate the Penguins in five games and move onto the second round. Skating on a line with Martin St. Louis, Hagelin, who had 17 goals in the regular season, will likely continue being a key contributor throughout the Rangers' postseason run.

Hagelin Finds Net In Rangers' Game 3 Win

News: Carl Hagelin opened the scoring in Monday's 2-1 victory over the host Penguins.
Analysis: Carl Hagelin puts the kibosh on his four game point-less drought and nets his 11th career playoff goal. We're sure head coach Alain Vigneault will take it, considering the Swede winger has just seven points in 19 career games versus Pittsburgh.

Two Points In Win For Rangers' Hagelin

News: Carl Hagelin scored an empty-net goal and picked up a power-play assist Tuesday in a win over New Jersey.
Analysis: The nice night snapped an eight-game skid for Carl Hagelin in which he'd tallied just a lone assist. With a fairly typical total of 35 points on the year, the speedy winger is of use mostly in deep leagues.

Rangers' Hagelin Notches Assist

News: Carl Hagelin logged an assist in Thursday's 3-2 win over Minnesota.
Analysis: Just more of the same from the 26-year-old Swede who manages to find the scorer's sheet just enough to remain on everyone's radar, but not nearly on their roster. Hags, who helped form the team's third line during Thursday's win with returning veteran Martin St. Louis (MCL) and budding forward Kevin Hayes now has 33 points through 77 games.

Rangers' Hagelin Breaks Silence

News: Carl Hagelin found the back of the net in the first period of Wednesday's 3-1 win over Washington.
Analysis: Carl Hagelin has really slowed as of late, having posted just a goal and an assist in his last eight games. Despite the lull, the 26-year-old Swedish forward has 15 goals and 30 points in 66 games played, leaving him within reach of setting a new career-high (38 in 2011-12) in points if he can string together a few more night's like Wednesday.

Rangers' Hagelin Quietly Having Career Season

News: Carl Hagelin registered an assist in Sunday's 4-3 shootout win over the Blue Jackets
Analysis: The helper give the speedy winger four during his current three game point streak. While Hags hasn't been nearly as productive as most would have expected, his 14 goals and 28 points and plus-15 rating has put him within striking distance of career-highs in all three categories with 24 games to go in the regular season.

Rangers' Hagelin Gets Two Points

News: Carl Hagelin scored a goal, added on an assist and went plus-2 Thursday in a 5-4 shootout loss to the Canucks.
Analysis: After two games off the scoresheet, Hags found his way back on. February's been his best month, as he has six points in nine games; that's as many points as he notched in both November and December, but he played 14 and 12 games in those months, respectively. An uptick in shot attempts has accompanied this rise in scoring, which may indicate that it's fairly sustainable. Still, Carl Hagelin will need to pick up the pace a bit to hit 40 points for the season.

Rangers' Hagelin Starting To Heat Up

News: Carl Hagelin notched his third game-winning goal of the season in Thursday's 6-3 triumph over the Avalanche.
Analysis: Carl Hagelin has picked up his activity of late, producing a point in three straight games while putting 14 shots on net. The speedy winger has always brought a decent dosage of offense to the third line, and is really starting to connect with the equally red-hot Kevin Hayes. Hagelin bears watching in deeper formats.

Rangers' Hagelin Tallies In Loss

News: Carl Hagelin scored his 11th goal of the season and had six shots on goal in Sunday's loss to the Stars.
Analysis: Playing on the third line, Carl Hagelin has been a solid depth scorer this season, tallying 22 points in 51 games. While the Ranges would like to seem him score more, his lack of power-play time makes that tougher. With a tidy plus-9 rating and 117 shots on goal, Hagelin is a decent, but inconsistent scorer who can be of value in deeper leagues.

Rangers' Hagelin Gets Helper In Win

News: Carl Hagelin had an assist, fired off eight shots, and finished with a plus-2 rating in Monday's 6-3 win over the Panthers.
Analysis: Carl Hagelin went seven games without a point in the beginning of January, but since then he's logged five points in five games. The Swede's 21 points in 48 games aren't great for fantasy owners, but he could be able to break his old career-best mark of 38 points set his rookie season.

Rangers' Hagelin Turns In Overtime Winner

News: Carl Hagelin snapped a seven-game point drought Tuesday with an assist and the game-winning goal in overtime.
Analysis: Carl Hagelin played an excellent game, using his speed well and forechecking enthusiastically, and was rewarded with a beautiful spin-o-rama pass from Derek Stepan right onto his stick in front of the net, and he redirected the puck perfectly past Craig Anderson. It's been a slow offensive season for Hagelin, who's behind even his typical modest half-point-per-game pace this year despite not seeing much of a change in ice time. His power-play opportunities remain near-nonexistent, which certainly doesn't help.

Rangers' Hagelin Avoiding Long Droughts

News: Carl Hagelin snapped a three game point drought with an assist in Saturday's 3-1 win over New Jersey.
Analysis: While the point came on an empty-netter to seal the win and won't make any top tens in your neck of the woods, it's nice to see the 26-year-old snap the cold streak. No, 14 points in 33 games played certainly gives us no reason to recommend him in standard formats, but the fourth year winger could still break his career-high of 38 points (2011-12) if he can start finding the scorer's sheet a bit more.

Rangers' Hagelin Bags Goal Tuesday

News: Carl Hagelin tallied his seventh goal of the season in Tuesday's 5-2 victory over the Oilers.
Analysis: Carl Hagelin has notched goals in back-to-back contests, giving him 13 points in 29 contests this season. However, he's currently skating on the third line with Kevin Hayes and Lee Stempniak, a role that won't afford him much more than 15 minutes per night. He's a solid depth scorer for the Rangers, but fantasy owners can likely do better.

Seedy Times For Hagelin Owners

News: Carl Hagelin has two of his eight points (19 games) in his last three games.
Analysis: After starting the season on a five-game point-less streak, Carl Hagelin has managed to avoid long periods of stagnancy, much like his 33-point season a year ago. However, the production is still a bit lighter than what most owners may have expected coming into the season. More alarming is the fact that the majority of the 26-year-old's production last campaign came in the first two months of the season. No two ways about it, it's a seedy time for any Hagelin owners out there. No, we're not yet suggesting you jump ship, but there's clearly more productive options than the current third-line winger.

Rangers' Hagelin Pots Goal In Loss

News: Carl Hagelin scored the team's lone goal in Sunday's 3-1 loss to the Oilers.
Analysis: After Saturday's game in Toronto, Carl Hagelin now has two goals in as many days to bring his season total to four in that department. He netted 17 pucks last year to along with 16 assists, and it seems likely that he'll surpass the 30 point plateau again this season.

Rangers' Hagelin Consistently Contributing

News: Carl Hagelin logged an assist Monday's 4-3 shootout loss to St. Louis.
Analysis: Even with the extra fram, Carl Hagelin, who spent most of the evening with third line forwards Dominic Moore and Anthony Duclair, saw a dip (18:21) in his total minutes. Still, owners or window shoppers have to like the fact that the 26-year-old has three of his season total four points in the last three games, regardless of what line he's playing on.

Rangers' Hagelin Heating Up

News: Carl Hagelin collected an assist in Monday's 5-4 comeback win over Minnesota.
Analysis: The fourth-year winger also led all Rangers forwards with 20-plus minutes of total ice time. After being shut out in the first five tilts of the season, the speedy Swede is coming on, having registered a plus-3 with two goals and an assist in the last four contests.

Rangers' Hagelin: Starting To Warm Up?

News: Carl Hagelin scored his second goal of the season in Saturday's loss to the Canadiens.
Analysis: The points have been slow to come, but his two points this season -- both goals, by the way -- have come in his last three games. This may be the start of something. Keep an eye on him.

Rangers' Hagelin Scores In Win

News: Carl Hagelin scored the opening goal of a 4-0 win over the Sharks on Sunday.
Analysis: After setting a career high in goals last season with 17, Carl Hagelin had yet to record a point this season until Sunday. Hagelin could have some fantasy value if he can improve on his point totals from last season, but his slow start is worth keeping an eye before taking a chance on him.

Rangers' Hagelin Showcases Speed In Game 1

News: Carl Hagelin scored his second shorthanded goal of the playoffs in Wednesday's Game 1 loss to the Kings.
Analysis: Although Carl Hagelin's goal deflected off a King and into the net, he created the chance out of nothing with his incredible speed. Hags used his legs to create a couple other big-time breakaway chances in this game, and even though he was awarded the third star, he'll probably be haunted by his failure to finish on those opportunities.

News: Carl Hagelin scored a shorthanded goal and added an assist on the overtime winner in Sunday's Game 4 against the Canadiens.
