Penguins Recall Harrington

News: Scott Harrington was recalled from AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Monday, Josh Yohe of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.
Analysis: Robert Bortuzzo (upper body) is set to miss Monday's game against the Lightning, so Scott Harrington will join the Penguins to serve as insurance on defense. It appears that the club's normal seventh blueliner, Brian Dumoulin, is set to play Monday, forcing Harrington to spend the game in the press box.

Penguins Re-Assign Harrington

News: Scott Harrington was re-assigned to AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Sunday.
Analysis: Scott Harrington added an extra man along the blue line after Olli Maatta was held out with a thyroid tumor. He didn't dress with the Penguins and has been sent back to the AHL, leaving the team with six defensemen on the roster until Maatta returns.

Pens Recall Harrington

News: The Penguins recalled Scott Harrington from AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Monday.
Analysis: With fellow defenseman Olli Maatta out for the next four weeks to recover from having surgery on his thyroid to remove a tumor, Scott Harrington will return to the Pens roster to provide blue line depth. Maatta didn't get into the lineup during his first stint with the team this season, but did manage to record two assists in seven games with AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

Pens Send Down Harrington

News: Scott Harrington was reassigned to AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Friday.
Analysis: Robert Bortuzzo (upper body) looks to be ready to go for the Penguins for their weekend tilt with the the Predators, so there wasn't much of a need for the team to carry Scott Harrington as an eighth defenseman. Harrington could be back up with the parent club if another long-term injury strikes the blue line at some point, but he'll otherwise spend most of his time this season in the minors.

Pens Bring Back Harrington

News: Scott Harrington was recalled from AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Wednesday, Jenn Menendez of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Analysis: After going unused by the Penguins in his stint with the team earlier in the season, Scott Harrington was set to the minors so he could get in a game Tuesday. He'll reprise his role as the Pens' seventh defenseman upon rejoining the club.

Pens Reassign Harrington

News: The Penguins reassigned Scott Harrington to AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Monday, Seth Rorabaugh of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Analysis: Scott Harrington didn't see any NHL action while he was up with the big club, but will try to play well enough in the AHL to earn another shot.

Pens' Harrington Not Expected To Play Saturday

News: Coach Mike Johnston said Saturday that Scott Harrington would not be in the starting lineup against the Maple Leafs.
Analysis: Several days ago the Penguins coach said he would rather have Scott Harrington playing full time in the AHL than sitting in the press box for Pittsburgh, but he apparently changed his mind. Harrington will have to wait until Thursday, at the very least, to make his NHL debut.

Pens' Harrington Recalled Friday

News: Scott Harrington was recalled from AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Friday.
Analysis: The promotion of Scott Harrington is somewhat surprising, as it was believed that the Penguins wanted him to log another season in the minors before preparing for a full-time role with the parent club. There doesn't appear to be an opening in the Pens' top-six defensemen group at present, so Harrington may have to settle for press box duty for the time being.

Penguins Send Harrington To AHL

News: The Penguins sent Scott Harrington to AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Tuesday.
Analysis: Rather than have the young defender sit in the press box, the team will use Taylor Chorney as its seventh defenseman and give Scott Harrington full-time duty with the Baby Penguins. Expect Harrington to make his NHL debut when injuries strike the blue line in 2014-15.

Pens' Harrington Still In Mix

News: Scott Harrington remains in the running for the final spot on Pittsburgh's blue line heading into the regular season, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.
Analysis: The 21-year-old's chances hinge on the availability of Olli Maatta (shoulder). Assistant general manager Tom Fitzgerald said Scott Harrington has had "a great camp." Pittsburgh has played the rookie in each of the team's final four preseason games in order to get a good look. He scored five goals and 24 points in 76 AHL games last year, but is looked upon as more of a two-way player than as an offensive defenseman.

Analysis: Scott Harrington was with OHL London for the 2012-13 season, collecting 19 points (three goals and 16 assists) in 50 games.
