Red Wings' Jurco Likely Back In Saturday

News: Tomas Jurco (upper body) appears on track to return to the lineup Saturday against the Hurricanes, MLive.com's Ansar Khan reports.
Analysis: Tomas Jurco missed the last five games with the injury, but after participating fully in the Red Wings' morning skate Saturday, he appears to be good to go for the season finale. The absence of Henrik Zetterberg and Pavel Datsyuk for rest-related purposes looks like it will allow Jurco to claim a second-line role Saturday, but expect the forward to slide back into the Red Wings' bottom-six ranks once the playoffs begin.

Wings' Jurco Progressing

News: Though Tomas Jurco (upper body) is getting closer to a return, there is no concrete timetable on that front, Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Analysis: At this stage, Tomas Jurco seems likely to miss Thursday's game against Montreal, at a minimum. We'll let you know if that assessment changes. The Red Wings will play their final game of the regular season Saturday against the Hurricanes.

Wings' Jurco Still Out

News: Tomas Jurco (upper body) will miss Tuesday's game against the Hurricanes, MLive.com's Ansar Khan reports.
Analysis: Tomas Jurco skated Tuesday, but hasn't been cleared to play yet. His status for Thursday's game against Montreal remains cloudy at this stage.

Red Wings' Jurco Absent From Practice

News: Tomas Jurco (upper body) is not practicing Friday, MLive.com's Ansar Khan reports.
Analysis: After missing Thursday's game against the Bruins, Tomas Jurco doesn't seem like a good bet to return for Saturday's game in Minnesota. Erik Cole (upper body) is also absent from Friday's practice, while Pavel Datsyuk (lower body) is participating.

Wings' Jurco Sidelined

News: Tomas Jurco (upper body) won't play Thursday against the Bruins, MLive.com's Ansar Khan reports.
Analysis: Tomas Jurco, who has notched 18 points in 62 games to date, thus joins the ranks of the Wings' banged-up forwards, joining Pavel Datsyuk and Erik Cole, who are also out for Thursday's game.

Wings' Jurco Has Three Points In Last Four

News: Tomas Jurco registered an assist in Sunday's loss to the Islanders, giving him three points in his last four games.
Analysis: Sadly, that's about as hot as Tomas Jurco has been this season. A primary beneficiary from the Red Wings' assortment of injuries this season, Jurco's ice time has declined considerably while the team has enjoyed better overall health in 2014-15. The two-minute decline in his minutes has predictably had an adverse effect on the winger's production, as he's managed only 18 points in 61 games this season.

Wings' Jurco (Eye) Back In Sunday

News: Tomas Jurco (eye) is back in the lineup Sunday against the Red Wings.
Analysis: Tomas Jurco suffered a black eye in Thursday's game that caused him to miss Saturdays contest versus the Blue Jackets. It appears he's doing well enough Sunday to draw back into the lineup.

Red Wings' Jurco Out Saturday With Injury

News: Tomas Jurco sustained a black eye in Thursday's 3-1 loss to the Blue Jackets and will be held out of Saturday's game against the Flyers, MLive.com's Ansar Khan reports.
Analysis: Tomas Jurco was on the ice for Friday's practice, but left midway through the session due to apparent discomfort. Coach Mike Babcock hasn't decided if Daniel Cleary or Stephen Weiss will replace Jurco in the lineup Saturday. The winger's status remains cloudy for Sunday's tilt with the Penguins.

Red Wings' Jurco Collects Assist

News: Tomas Jurco collected an assist in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Predators.
Analysis: The 22-year-old might one day be a regular member of the Wings' top-six ranks, but his presence on the fourth line makes his present-day fantasy value minimal. He hasn't seen more than 12 minutes of ice time since Dec. 31, and unsurprising, he's notched only three points (all assists) since that time.

Red Wings' Jurco To Return Thursday

News: Tomas Jurco (back) will play Thursday against the Lightning.
Analysis: Tomas Jurco will take the ice Thursday for the first time since Jan. 6. He will replace Dan Cleary in the Red Wings' lineup and skate on the fourth line alongside Joakim Andersson and opposite Drew Miller.

Red Wings' Jurco Back In Business

News: Tomas Jurco (back) is slated to return to the Detroit lineup Thursday against the Lightning, MLive.com's Ansar Khan reports.
Analysis: Tomas Jurco, who last suited up on Jan. 6, was held without a point in his last five games. Overall, he has recorded 12 points in 37 contests, with his return to the lineup Thursday set to make Daniel Cleary the odd man out up front for the Wings.

Red Wings' Jurco Out Tuesday

News: Tomas Jurco (back) will not play in Tuesday's game against the Panthers, MLive.com's Ansar Khan reports.
Analysis: Tomas Jurco hasn't played in a game since Jan. 6, and while he seems to be nearing a return, he'll miss at least one more contest. Dan Cleary is expected to slot into the lineup in Jurco's place.

Red Wings' Jurco: Game-Time Decision Tuesday

News: Tomas Jurco (back) will likely be a game-time decision Tuesday against the Panthers, The Detroit News reports.
Analysis: Tomas Jurco, who hasn't played in a game since Jan. 6, participated in Monday's practice. If he doesn't return Tuesday, he may make it back for Thursday's game in Tampa Bay.

Red Wings' Jurco (Back) Out Until After Break

News: General manager Ken Holland said Friday that Tomas Jurco (back) wouldn't return until after the All-Star break, MLive.com's Ansar Khan reports.
Analysis: Tomas Jurco hasn't played since Jan. 6 due to pain in his lower back. He visited a specialist recently and was prescribed medication to address the issue. Holland said Jurco appears to have noticed some improvement with his condition since receiving the treatment, but will still require a little additional time to get back to 100 percent health.

Red Wings' Jurco (Back) Dealing With Disc Issue

News: Tomas Jurco's back injury is related to an issue with a disc, Chuck Pleiness of the Macomb Daily reports.
Analysis: Tomas Jurco wasn't practicing Thursday and looks like he could be at risk of missing multiple games. If he fails to make much progress in the coming days, Jurco might be placed on the Red Wings' injured reserve list.

Wings' Jurco Out Wednesday

News: Tomas Jurco is dealing with a back injury and will miss Wednesday's game against Calgary, Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Analysis: Tomas Jurco is in the midst of a scoring slump, with only one point since Dec. 10, and this injury won't help things. Back injuries can linger, so Detroit may give Jurco a few games off to completely heal.

Wings' Jurco On A Roll

News: Tomas Jurco tallied an assist in Thursday's 5-2 win over the Stars.
Analysis: Tomas Jurco has really rebounded after an early-season slump, with eight points in his last nine games. He is still young and has a lot of talent, so Jurco could get 30-35 points by the end of the season.

Wings' Jurco Snaps Slump With Two Points

News: Tomas Jurco doubled his season point total Tuesday, scoring a power-play goal (his first marker of the year) and adding an assist in a 5-0 win over the Jackets.
Analysis: Tomas Jurco had gone six straight games without a point and seen his share of time in the press box, which had sparked rumors of a demotion back to AHL Grand Rapids. This performance should help him stave that off for a little while longer at least, though Jurco's development is probably better served at Grand Rapids than it is on the third line in Detroit.

Detroit's Jurco Draws Back In Friday

News: Tomas Jurco will return to the lineup Friday against the Blackhawks, MLive.com's Ansar Khan reports.
Analysis: Tomas Jurco had been a healthy scratch for the Red Wings the last three games after supplying just two points in his first 12 contests. He'll clearly need to get going quickly to avoid a demotion to the minors, and his expected placement on the second line Friday next to Pavel Datsyuk could be exactly what he needs in order to jump-start his production.

Wings' Jurco Skates With Pavel Datsyuk Wednesday

News: Tomas Jurco skated on a line with Pavel Datsyuk (groin) during Wednesday's practice, MLive.com reports. "I haven't decided on what we're doing; I would like to (play Jurco)," coach Mike Babcock said regarding his lineup for Friday's game against Chicago. "Contrary to belief, that I took him out because he wasn't playing good, I took him out because I thought we needed a change. I thought his last two games were two of his better games."
Analysis: Tomas Jurco has been a healthy scratch for the team's last three games and there have been murmurs that Wings are considering sending him to AHL Grand Rapids, but he said after Wednesday's practice that he is preparing as if he will play Friday. It remains to be seen, however, if he'll stay on a line with Datsyuk, but if he does, the 21-year-old would quickly return to fantasy relevance.

Wings Considering AHL Stint For Jurco

News: The Red Wings are considering sending Tomas Jurco to AHL Grand Rapids, the Detroit Free Press reports.
Analysis: The 21-year-old has been struggling to crack the lineup recently following a 12-game stretch where he's picked up just two assists to begin the season. Red Wings general manager Ken Holland pointed to Tomas Jurco's slow start in the AHL a year ago, which was quickly forgotten when he finished eighth in the league in scoring. Considering his age, Jurco seems more likely to benefit seeing steady minutes in Grand Rapids than serving as an odd-man out in Detroit.

Wings' Jurco A Healthy Scratch Wednesday

News: Tomas Jurco will be a healthy scratch Wednesday against the Rangers, Ted Kulfan of the Detroit News reports.
Analysis: Tomas Jurco will watch from the press box for the first time this season as Dan Cleary takes his place along the wing. Although he's averaging 12 minutes per game, Jurco has just two assists and hasn't connected on any of his 22 shots on goal thus far.

Wings' Jurco Snaps Scoreless Streak

News: Tomas Jurco snapped a four-game scoreless streak with an assist in Saturday's 4-2 loss to the Flyers.
Analysis: Tomas Jurco's minutes have been on the decline as of late, as he has only played about 10 minutes the last two games. His line did finally put a goal on the board Saturday, however, so perhaps the youngsters' confidence will start to pick up again.

Wings' Jurco Struggling Early

News: Heading into Saturday's tilt with the Penguins, Tomas Jurco has one assist and no goals in seven games.
Analysis: Tomas Jurco had 15 points in 36 games after coming to the Wings halfway through 2013-14. With the added pressure of actually starting the season in Detroit, Jurco is struggling a bit on the offensive end along with his entire line. Once he gets a break or two, however, Jurco should get back on track.

Detroit's Jurco Scores In Win

News: Tomas Jurco tallied an empty-net marker in a 3-0 preseason victory over the Maple Leafs on Monday.
Analysis: Tomas Jurco had 15 points in 36 games with Detroit last season and appears to be starting right where he left off. He has found a lot of chemistry with the players he grew up in the AHL with, in Riley Sheahan, Tomas Tatar and Gustav Nyquist, and it would be difficult to send any of them back to the AHL at this point.
