Rangers Send McIlrath Back To AHL Hartford

News: Dylan McIlrath was sent back to AHL Hartford on Wednesday, Steve Zipay of Newsday reports.
Analysis: Dylan McIlrath was recalled after the Rangers suffered a rash of injuries along the blue line, and so eight minutes of ice time in his season against St. Louis on Monday. With Kevin Klein returning to the lineup, the Rangers are no longer in need of his services and he will head back to the minors.

Rangers' McIlrath Wastes No Time

News: Dylan McIlrath logged nine penalty minutes in just eight minutes of total ice time during Monday's 4-3 loss to St. Louis.
Analysis: Making his season debut on Broadway, the former 10th overall pick (2010) wasted no time finding his way to the penalty box. After registering matching roughing penalties with Ian Cole early in the first period, the 22-year-old bruiser not only dropped the gloves with Ryan Reaves, but added a third period tripping call for good measure. Although he's not likely to contribute offensively, the penalty minutes are enticing (16 penalty minutes in three career games). Nevertheless, his stay with the club will likely consist of third pairing ice time and end with the return of Kevin Klein and/or Ryan McDonagh later this month.

Rangers Assign McIlrath To AHL Hartford

News: The Rangers assigned Dylan McIlrath to AHL Hartford on Monday.
Analysis: Dylan McIlrath has appeared in just two games with the Rangers since being selected 10th overall in 2010, and he will not get a chance to increase that number when the 2014-15 regular season kicks off this week. McIlrath is still just 22 years old, however, so he still has time to make an impact for the Rangers.

Rangers Reassign McIlrath

News: The Rangers reassigned Dylan McIlrath to AHL Hartford on Thursday.
Analysis: The blueliner suited up for just two games with the Rangers this year, recording seven PIM. He'll return to Hartford, where his line stands at three goals and four assists through 24 games, but his whopping 115 PIM at the AHL level could earn him another call-up if the Rangers need some more grit.

Rangers' McIlrath Scratched Against Pens

News: Dylan McIlrath will serve as a healthy scratch for Wednesday's game against the Penguins, reports Andrew Gross of The Bergen Record.
Analysis: After earning the Broadway Hat (game-night locker room trophy) in Sunday's 4-3 win over Calgary, the bruising blueliner will sit out. The Rangers' 10th overall pick in the 2010 draft is minus-1 with seven PIM and two hits in two games since being recalled from AHL Hartford.

Rangers' McIlrath Assigned To AHL Hartford

News: Dylan McIlrath was assigned to AHL Hartford on Wednesday.
Analysis: Dylan McIlrath won't stick with the NHL club, despite making a full recovery from knee surgery. The former No. 10 overall pick is still just 21 years old, so he could have an impact on the blue line eventually.

Rangers' McIlrath (Knee) Feels Fully Healthy

News: Dylan McIlrath said Friday that his surgically repaired knee feels 100 percent healthy, ESPN.com's Katie Strang reports.
Analysis: Dylan McIlrath worked on his leg strength over the offseason in an effort to prevent a similar injury in the future. He's trying to earn a spot on the NHL roster, but will likely begin the year in the AHL.

McIlrath Hope To Stick With Rangers Next Season

News: Dylan McIlrath acknowledges that his knee is still not 100 percent, but says it will be by training camp, Newsday's Steve Zipay reports.
Analysis: Moreover, Dylan McIlrath, who who underwent a follow-up procedure this past October after he dislocated his left knee last June, believes that he has a "legitimate shot" at making the Rangers this coming season, adding that his "knee (is) not an excuse anymore." McIlrath, who was the No. 10 overall pick in the 2010 draft, isn't much of an offensive threat (he recorded five assists and 125 PIMs in 45 AHL games this past season), but he has a chance to stick with the big club as a physical presence on the team's blue line.
