Wings' Nyquist Ends Goal Drought

News: Gustav Nyquist picked up his first goal of the postseason in Thursday's Game 4 loss to the Lightning.
Analysis: Gustav Nyquist kicked off the night's scoring when he took a slick feed from Henrik Zetterberg near the net and gently deposited the puck past Bolts goalie Ben Bishop. It was the Swedish winger's first marker since April 7, ending a five-game drought. Nyquist's three shot attempts on the evening also tied his highest total in that category since that same April 7 game.

Wings' Nyquist: Five Points In Last Seven Games

News: Gustav Nyquist scored a power-play goal in Saturday's shootout win over Minnesota.
Analysis: He now has four goals and one assist in his last seven games and 26 on the season. He had suffered through a cold patch, at least offensively, but he seems to be back on the right track. Use him well.

Wings' Nyquist: First Multi-Point Game Since Feb21

News: Gustav Nyquist scored a goal and added an assist in Detroit's 4-0 win over Tampa Bay on Saturday. It's his first multi-point game since Feb. 21.
Analysis: Gustav Nyquist has had a fine season, but has clearly hit the wall -- this was his 74th game of the season and his previous season high in games was 57. He does have three points in his last three games, so fingers crossed he's starting to warm up again.

Wings' Nyquist Finds Twine Against Coyotes

News: Gustav Nyquist recorded a power-play goal in Tuesday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Coyotes.
Analysis: Gustav Nyquist tied the score on the third-period tally, but the Red Wings weren't able to keep the Coyotes off the board in the extra time. After a dazzling month of January, Nyquist's production seems to have tapered off since then. He's collected only three goals and eight assists over his last 22 games.

Wings' Nyquist Captures Assist In Win

News: Gustav Nyquist registered an assist in Monday's 5-2 win over the Oilers.
Analysis: Gustav Nyquist's production has been muted of late with a goal and two assists over his last seven games, but he's still turning in a highly productive campaign, netting 46 points in 65 games. That's behind his scoring rate from a season ago, but it's worth bearing in mind that he was seeing a more sizable role in the Wings' top six while Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg missed time with injuries. The 25-year-old still looks like a very promising long-term asset for Detroit.

Wings' Nyquist Scores 21st Goal In Win

News: Gustav Nyquist potted his 21st goal of the season and had an assist in Saturday's wild 7-6 overtime win over the Stars.
Analysis: The goal snapped a six-game goalless drought for Gustav Nyquist, who has been playing on the team's third line. He's still on the top power-play unit, though, and has recorded 42 points in 57 games on the season. His goal-scoring has cooled down, but that doesn't mean he can't keep producing points. The 25-year-old is a great fantasy play on a Detroit team that has suffered just three regulation losses in their past 15 games.

Wings' Nyquist Contributes PP Assist

News: Gustav Nyquist handed out a power-play assist in Thursday's 3-0 win over the Avalanche.
Analysis: Gustav Nyquist was quiet for most of the night with only one shot attempt, but did manage to keep his run of hot play going with a secondary helper on Justin Abdelkader's first-period goal. The Swedish forward has five goals and eight assists over his last 11 games.

Third Straight Two-Point Game For Wings' Nyquist

News: Gustav Nyquist turned in his third consecutive two-point game Tuesday, scoring a power-play goal and adding an assist in a shootout win over Minnesota.
Analysis: The 25-year-old winger also scored the deciding goal of the shootout, just for kicks. The ol' plus-minus is headed toward the land of the positive, and Gustav Nyquist has a remarkable 17 points in his last 13 gamse. He isn't likely to keep up that kind of scoring pace, but if he stays hot in the second half, a run at 70 points isn't out of the question.

Wings' Nyquist Has Another Multi-Point Effort

News: Gustav Nyquist scored his 18th goal of the season and had an assist in Sunday's win over the Sabres.
Analysis: That's back-to-back multi-point efforts from Gustav Nyquist, who has racked up 11 points (three goals) in his last nine games. The 25-year-old now has 18 goals and 34 points in 46 games on the season, to go with a minus-4 rating. With five multi-point outings in his last 12 games and a whopping 10 power-play goals on the season, Nyquist is a prime reason the surging Red Wings have just one loss in their last seven games. Keep him rolling, as the goose is just so loose right now.

Wings' Nyquist Picks Up Pair Of Points

News: Gustav Nyquist tallied a goal and an assist in Saturday's 5-2 victory over Nashville.
Analysis: Gustav Nyquist is one of the major reasons Detroit is 5-2 in January, as he has two goals and five assists in the month. There has been no drop-off in Nyquist's second season, as he is on pace for 30-plus goals and nearly 60 points.

Wings' Nyquist Off To Solid January Start

News: Gustav Nyquist recorded an assist in Saturday's 3-1 loss to the Capitals.
Analysis: Gustav Nyquist is off to a great start in January, with four assists in his first four games. He has 10 points in his last eight games, and while only one of those is a goal, he's still blazing hot at the moment.

Two Assist For Wings' Nyquist

News: Gustav Nyquist chipped in a pair of helpers in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Flames.
Analysis: That's nine points in the last seven games and 28 points on the season for Gustav Nyquist, who has provided quite a secondary-scoring punch for the Wings this season. His minus-6 rating is a tad disappointing, but owners will likely overlook that given his offensive production. Only Henrik Zetterberg (36 points) and Pavel Datsyuk (30 points in 11 less games than Zetterberg and Nyquist) have more points than Gus this year in Motown.

Wings' Nyquist: Six Points In Last Four Games

News: Gustav Nyquist picked up two assists in Wednesday's win over the Sabres. The points give him six, including five assists, in his last four games.
Analysis: Is this a sign of awakening from slumber? Perhaps -- he's far better than his current pace. We're willing to take a chance on him again. He has 15 goals and 10 assists in 38 games this season.

Wings' Nyquist Hands Out Three Helpers

News: Gustav Nyquist dished out three assists -- all on the power play -- and went minus-2 in Tuesday's 6-3 win over the Sabres.
Analysis: It hurts to see that minus in a game the Wings won running away, but three points sure can take the edge off. Though Gustav Nyquist has had no problem scoring goals this year -- 14 of them -- he'd managed only five assists in 34 contests entering Tuesday's action, and he'd gone without a point over the last three games. He's more talented than his 22 points and minus-7 rating for the year would seem to indicate, but this is shaping up to be a bit of a letdown campaign for the 25-year-old unless he can get hot.

Wings' Nyquist Scores In Loss

News: Gustav Nyquist scored his team's lone goal in Wednesday's 2-1 shootout loss to the Maple Leafs.
Analysis: The winger's point total is now 17 through 29 games, but his 13 goals are good enough for 10th in the league at this point. Wednesday marked Gustav Nyquist's first point in his last four games, so hopefully the production will start coming more consistently now.

Red Wings' Nyquist Lights Lamp In Loss

News: Gustav Nyquist registered a goal in the final minute of Tuesday's game against the Panthers, but the Red Wings fell one tally shy in a 4-3 loss.
Analysis: The goal was Gustav Nyquist's team-leading 12th and his third and five games. The Red Wings attack is still built around Henrik Zetterberg and Pavel Datsyuk, but Nyquist should take over as the team's top playmaker within the next season or two.

Wings' Nyquist Nets Ninth Goal

News: Gustav Nyquist lit the lamp for the ninth time this season in a 5-0 pasting of the Blue Jackets on Tuesday.
Analysis: Gustav Nyquist has been a little feast-or-famine this season, as he has 12 points in 18 games despite two four-game scoreless streaks. He is a rising star, however, and is a solid play most nights.

Wings' Nyquist Adds Goal And Assist

News: Gustav Nyquist tallied a goal and an assist in Sunday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Lightning.
Analysis: Gustav Nyquist scored the game tying goal in the third period on his eighth goal of the season. He scored 28 last year to go along with 20 assists, and appears to be well on his way to surpassing that and reaching the 50 point mark.

Wings' Nyquist Snaps Scoring Drought

News: Gustav Nyquist ended a four-game scoring drought Friday, scoring two goals and an assist in a win over the Kings.
Analysis: The second-line winger now has seven goals and nine points in 10 games on the season. He is tied for the NHL lead in power-play goals (four) and game-winning goals (two). Skating on the top power-play unit, Gustav Nyquist should surpass the career-high 28 goals and 48 points he recorded last season.

Wings' Nyquist Scores For Fourth Straight Game

News: Gustav Nyquist scored for the fourth straight game and added an assist in Friday's win over Toronto.
Analysis: What a start for Gustav Nyquist, who now has 16 goals in his last 20 games dating back to next season. He likely won't keep this ridiculous goal-scoring pace up, but if he remains on the top line and top power-play unit, there is no reason the Goose can't surpass the career-high 48 points he recorded last season.

Wings' Nyquist Scores In Loss

News: Gustav Nyquist netted a goal in Wednesday's shootout loss to the Bruins.
Analysis: The tally was Gustav Nyquist's third in as many games to start the season, and the young winger is proving that last year's line of 28/20/48 in 57 games was no fluke. Don't expect him to spend any time in the AHL this year either, as he has developed into one of the more potent offensive threats for an aging Red Wings squad.

Wings' Nyquist: Goal In Second-Straight Game

News: Gustav Nyquist scored his second goal of the season in Saturday's 3-2 loss to Anaheim. He now has a goal in each of Detroit's first two games.
Analysis: He had a strong second half last season and it looks like he's picked up right where he left off. Congrats to those of you who stashed him on your rosters -- your gut call was a good one.

News: Gustav Nyquist scored the game-winning goal, a power-play marker, in a 2-1 win over Boston on Thursday night.

Wings' Nyquist Set To Open On Third Line

News: Gustav Nyquist (knee) is expected to open the season on Detroit's third line, MLive.com's Ansar Khan reports.
Analysis: Gustav Nyquist seems fully recovered from the knee injury he battled late in camp, but with the Wings relatively healthy at forward (with the exception of Pavel Datsyuk), the 25-year-old will have to settle for bottom-six duties for the time being. Last season's 28-goal performance should still carry a lot of weight for Nyquist, so it might not be long before he gets elevated to the second line.

Wings' Nyquist Practices Tuesday

News: Gustav Nyquist (knee) was on the ice for practice Tuesday, Chuck Pleiness of the Macomb Daily reports.
Analysis: Even if he's limited in the final preseason contests, Gustav Nyquist appears to be on track to play Opening Night, but it sounds like there is a good chance he'll be back on the ice for game action before then.
