Flyers' Read Pots Goal In Win

News: Matt Read opened the scoring with a goal in Saturday's 4-2 win over the Rangers.
Analysis: With his first goal in the last seven games, Matt Read is now on pace for 30 points this season. That would be his lowest, full-season total in the NHL. His shot percentage is also at a career-low mark, so it could just be poor luck. Either way, he hasn't been a solid fantasy play this season.

Flyers' Read Contributes With Goal

News: Matt Read chipped in a goal in Sunday's 2-1 win over the Sabres.
Analysis: After starting the season at a career-worst rate, Matt Read is heating up as he's registered a point in four straight. The forward's goal-scoring numbers are still well below average for what he's capable of, but he could be worthy of consideration in deeper leagues if he can keep up this recent level of play.

Flyers' Read Snaps Goal Drought In Loss

News: Matt Read ended a 25-game goal drought Tuesday, scoring the lone Flyers' goal in an overtime loss to Montreal.
Analysis: A good all-around game for Matt Read, who was credited with four shots on goal in the loss. While he's only got four goals on the season, he has points in back-to-back games and is playing much better of late. Read, who revealed in mid-January that he's been playing with a high-ankle sprain, could be worth adding down the stretch in some deep leagues. Playing on the second line, Read just needs to show some consistency and get over that long-term injury to return to his usual 20-goal form.

Flyers' Read Displays Two-Way Game

News: Matt Read compiled an assist, two hits and three blocked shots in Sunday's 3-1 win over the Capitals.
Analysis: The helper counts as Matt Read's only point in the past seven games. However, his willingness to chip in on defense is keeping him on the ice at a steady clip. The Canada native has 19 points (3G, 16A) with an average ice time of 17:39 this season.

Flyers' Read Back In Action

News: Matt Read (illness) notched an assist in 18:15 worth of ice time in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Sabres.
Analysis: Matt Read was a game-time decision for Saturday's contest, but he was deemed go to go after warmups and should be fine for the Flyers' next two games in advance of the upcoming NHL All Star break.

Flyers' Read (Illness) Will Skate Saturday

News: Matt Read is on the ice for warmups Saturday against the Sabres and is expected to play, Sam Carchidi of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Analysis: Matt Read was hit with the flu ahead of Saturday's game but is going to power through regardless. He'll be looking for his fourth goal and 15th assist on the season respectively against the Sabres.

Flyers' Read A Game-Time Decision Saturday

News: Matt Read (illness) will be a game-time decision Saturday against the Sabres, Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Analysis: Matt Read is reportedly battling the flu. If he isn't able to play, Jason Akeson is slated to take his place in the Philadelphia lineup. The team should update Read's status prior to the puck being dropped Saturday.

Read Tallies Two Helpers In Flyers' Win

News: Matt Read picked up a pair of assists in Thursday's overtime win against the Capitals.
Analysis: It's a rare beam of light in what's been a dark season offensively for Matt Read, who still has just 16 points in 41 games. He entered play Thursday with just a lonely assist over his prior eight contests, so despite the two points, he's showing few signs of coming out of his season-long slump.

Two Points For Flyers' Read

News: Matt Read bagged two helpers in Saturday's 7-4 win over Toronto.
Analysis: Matt Read hasn't had a noteworthy year, and he's on pace for just 32 points. If he reaches that mark, it would be his worst offensive showing in a full season at the NHL level. Adjust your roster accordingly.

Flyers' Read Books Two Points

News: Matt Read scored a goal on five shots, assisted on Sean Couturier's shortie and went plus-2 Thursday against the Devils.
Analysis: With the fine night, Matt Read snapped an extended slump, as he'd gone minus-6 without a point since Nov. 22, an eight-game stretch of misery. The goal was the Flyers' second of a 4-1 win, so he got credit for his second game-winner of the year as well. With just 10 points to show for 28 games this year, Read doesn't belong in many fantasy lineups.

Flyers' Read Collects Point In Win

News: Matt Read collected an assist on the Flyers' first goal in Thursday's 4-1 win over Florida.
Analysis: Matt Read's been off to a slow start, as he's got just five points in 13 games and just a single entry in the goal column on the year. His shooting percentage is well below his career mark, so we'd expect to see him right this ship. Nonetheless, this slow start is, as we've said before, worrisome for his fantasy owners.

Flyers' Read Goalless Through Six Games

News: Matt Read has no goals and three assists through six games this season.
Analysis: After a 22-goal campaign last season, Matt Read has yet to find the back of the net this year. He should get some more opportunities, as he's been playing on the team's second power-play unit, but for now his slow start should be slightly worrisome.

Flyers' Read Scores In Loss

News: Matt Read potted a goal in Sunday's 6-5 overtime loss to the Hurricanes.
Analysis: The game was meaningless, but the goal is encouraging. Matt Read has four points over his last five games, and he'll need that warm streak to continue for the Flyers to have a chance at beating the Rangers in the first round of the playoffs.

Flyers' Read Ends Scoring Skid

News: Matt Read tallied a goal and assist in Sunday's win over the Sabres.
Analysis: A game against the terrible Sabres was all Matt Read needed to kick a six-game pointless streak to the curb. The 27-year-old has 21 goals and 17 assists in his third NHL season.

Flyers' Read Scores Goal

News: Matt Read lit the lamp for his 20th goal on the season Monday against the Kings.
Analysis: Matt Read has scored at least 20 goals in his two full seasons, and he could very well set a new career high in that category before this year's out -- he tallied 24 in 2011-12.

Another Point For Flyers' Read

News: Matt Read collected an assist in Tuesday's 3-2 overtime win against Chicago.
Analysis: Matt Read has a miniature points streak going -- three straight games. He also has nine points over his last 10 games. Next up for the Flyers is Dallas, a team that Read scored against earlier this year. The Flyers have been hot lately, and this at-home match-up seems to favor them -- and Read.

Flyers' Read Scores Short-Handed

News: Matt Read scored a short-handed goal for the second straight game in Sunday's win over Pittsburgh.
Analysis: Matt Read now has four short-handed goals this season, which is tied for first in the NHL. Over the past two games, Read has racked up three goals, 10 shots, and a plus-3 rating. He is up to 19 goals and 34 points in 60 games on the year.

Flyers' Read Scores Twice In Win

News: Matt Read scored a short-handed goal and added an even-strength marker in Saturday's win over Pittsburgh.
Analysis: This was Matt Read's fourth two-goal game this season, giving him 18 goals and 33 points in 59 games on the year. Read now has seven points in his last seven games, helping the Flyers go 8-2-1 in their last 11 games. He plays on the third line in Philadelphia, but is still a lock for 20 goals every season. Read has now scored three short-handed goals this season, which is tied for fourth in the NHL. The 27-year-old has been showing great chemistry with Sean Couturier, who assisted on both of Read's tallies on Saturday.

Flyers' Read Collects Two Points In Win

News: Matt Read added two assists in Wednesday's 6-4 win over the Capitals.
Analysis: The assists are a welcome bonus for the cohort of owners who give Matt Read a regular starting nod. Read will have to prove he's capable of more consistent scoring to enlarge that cohort. He's got eight points in his last 10 games -- not shabby, but not blowing anyone's hair back either.

Flyers' Read: Two Points In Blowout Loss

News: Matt Read scored a goal, added an assist, and was the only Flyer aside from Brayden Schenn with a positive rating in Thursday's 7-3 loss to San Jose.
Analysis: It's been another mediocre year for Matt Read, who's got 16 goals, but has been an inconsistent contributor on the offensive end. He does have three goals and five points in his last seven games, though.

Flyers' Read Scores In Win

News: Matt Read scored in the opening minutes of the third period in Monday's 5-2 win over San Jose.
Analysis: The goal sparked a go-ahead, three-goal barrage by the Flyers in just under three minutes. Matt Read has two goals in his last five games; with 15 markers on the year, he's a worthwhile start in a variety of formats.

Flyers' Read Tallies Two In Loss

News: Matt Read scored two goals in Monday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Islanders.
Analysis: Matt Read has been a pest against the Islanders throughout his career, with 10 goals in 14 contests, against them. Six of his 13 goals this season have come against the Isles. His first goal Monday came while shorthanded, giving Read an extra bump in leagues that reward special-teams tallies.

Flyers' Read Will Play Tuesday

News: Matt Read (concussion) will play Tuesday against the Sabres, Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Analysis: As expected, Matt Read will be activated in time for Tuesday's game after missing the last six with a concussion. The 27-year-old has 10 goals on the year, but just one since Dec. 4.

Flyers' Read Expected Back Tuesday

News: Matt Read (concussion) is expected to return to action Tuesday vs. the Sabres, Frank Seravalli of the Philadelphia Daily News reports.
Analysis: Matt Read hasn't been activated from injured reserve yet, but the demotion of Tye McGinn to AHL Adirondack would seem to clear the way for his return to the lineup. The forward has been sidelined since Dec. 31 after sustaining the injury in a game against the Flames and may have to earn his way back into a top-six role after the two-week layoff.

Flyers' Read Placed On IR

News: Matt Read (concussion) has been placed on injured reserve.
Analysis: Matt Read was able to practice in a light capacity Friday, but he'd already been ruled out for the weekend as he remains in the league's concussion protocol. He shouldn't be considered close to returning until he's back practicing in full with the team.
