Assists Piling Up For Avs' Redmond

News: Zach Redmond registered an assist on the Avalanche's lone goal in Wednesday's loss to the Sharks.
Analysis: Zach Redmond has quietly been one of the Avs' most effective puck movers from the blue line this season, and it's beginning to yield results. He's picked up an assist in four of his last six games, which has helped him recover from a relative goal drought for most of the campaign. Though he's averaging over a shot attempt per game, Redmond's 5.7 percent shooting rate has only allowed him to find twine five times in 54 contests.

Avs' Redmond Notches Assist

News: Zach Redmond tallied an assist in 3-2 loss at Calgary on Monday.
Analysis: Zach Redmond recorded his 11th assist of the season Monday, giving him 16 points through 49 games this season. The defenseman also recorded one shot on goal, three blocked shots and skated to a plus-1 rating in the 3-2 loss at Calgary.

Avs' Redmond Notches Two Points In Win

News: Zach Redmond scored his fifth goal of the season and had an assist in Sunday's win over the Wild.
Analysis: It was his first points in seven games, giving him 15 points in 43 games on the season. Averaging 17:44 of ice time, the 26-year-old is a solid depth defenseman who can be of value in some very deep leagues.

Avs' Redmond Assists Twice In Win

News: Zach Redmond picked up two assists in Monday's win over the Coyotes.
Analysis: Zach Redmond has been a fixture in the Avs' lineup since Erik Johnson required a knee scope in late January, but he has yet to do much with the opportunity. Despite seeing power-play time and putting up 21 shots over his last 10 games, Redmond has no goals and three assists to show for it. His per-game offensive production (four goals, nine assists, 60 SOG in 35 games) gives Redmond some upside, but he'll probably need to go on a prolonged scoring streak before those outside of deeper formats take notice.

Avs' Redmond Records Assist In Win

News: Zach Redmond recorded an assist and five shots on goal in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the Predators.
Analysis: Zach Redmond had been a healthy scratch for most of January, but with Erik Johnson set to miss the next 3-to-8 weeks with a knee injury, a regular lineup spot awaits for the blueliner. With four goals, 11 points and 44 shot attempts in the 27 games he's played this season, Redmond presents more upside than most of the league's depth defensemen. The promise of a regular role for the next several games makes him worthy of a speculative roster addition in deeper formats.

Avs' Redmond Bumped From Wednesday Lineup

News: Zach Redmond will be a healthy scratch for Wednesday's game against the Flyers.
Analysis: Nick Holden will move back into the lineup while Zach Redmond takes a seat in the press box. Redmond has shown flashes of offensive upside with four goals and 10 points in 25 games, but he's had difficulty picking up anything more than third-pairing minutes.

Avs' Redmond Nabs Fourth Goal

News: Zach Redmond tallied his fourth goal of the season in Tuesday's 5-0 win over the Blues.
Analysis: Though he didn't enter the season with a regular role on the Avs' blue line, Zach Redmond has proven to be a suitable replacement for both Brad Stuart and now Ryan Wilson. With 10 points and a plus-5 rating over 23 games, Redmond offers more offensive upside than the typical third-pairing defenseman, making him legitimately interesting in deeper formats.

Redmond's Two Goals Helps Avs Defeat Canes

News: Zach Redmond scored twice, had four shots on goal, and was a plus-3 in Saturday's win over Carolina.
Analysis: The 26-year-old logged an impressive 19:44 of ice time in the win, picking up his fifth and sixth points of of the season. The fact Zach Redmond is skating on the first power-play unit and has scored three goals in just 10 games makes him worth a look in some deeper leagues. He's only played 28 NHL games, but he's produced 13 points in that span.

Avs' Redmond Providing Points

News: Zach Redmond registered an assist in Thursday's shootout win over the Rangers.
Analysis: Zach Redmond has assumed a regular role on the Avs' blue line since Brad Stuart sustained a leg injury last week, and has been rather productive on the offensive end, tallying a goal and two assists over his last four games. Unfortunately, he's gone a collective minus-4 over his last two turns, which could remain an issue if the Avs' early-season struggles continue in the games to come.

Avs' Redmond To See More Playing Time

News: Zach Redmond will return to the ice on Thursday night against the Maple Leafs to replace the injured Brad Stuart, the Denver Post reports.
Analysis: Zach Redmond has been scratched the past four games and he has only played in three games this season. Avs coach Patrick Roy said Stuart could miss multiple weeks, so Redmond should see increased playing time until Stuart returns.

Avs' Redmond To See More Action

News: With Ryan Wilson (shoulder) set to miss the next two-to-three weeks, Zach Redmond will see more time on the Avs' third defensive pairing, Adrian Dater of the Denver Post reports.
Analysis: Zach Redmond has been a healthy scratch for all of the Avs' games this season, after he was brought in by Colorado on a two-year, $1.5 million contract in the offseason. The 26-year-old has showed some offensive ability in the minors with AHL St. John's last season, but he could struggle to offer much production while seeing only light minutes on the occasions he plays.

Avs' Redmond Scratched For Season Opener

News: Zach Redmond will be a roster scratch for Thursday night's opener against the Minnesota Wild.
Analysis: Zach Redmond's presence on the Avs roster is a bit surprising, but he has the potential to develop into a solid defenseman with a bit of seasoning. Redmond could be considered a very deep roster stash in dynasty leagues, but we would stay away from him for now.
