Hawks Extend Rundblad For Two Years

News: David Rundblad signed a two-year, $2.1 million extension with the Blackhawks on Monday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.
Analysis: The 24-year-old Swede played in a career-high 49 games this season, also setting personal marks in goals (three), assists (11), points (14) and penalty minutes (12). In the postseason, he saw playing time come at a real premium, as he played in only five games and averaged 7:29 of ice time. He should remain on the Blackhawks' third defensive pairing in the 2015-16 season as he continues to develop.

Hawks' Rundblad Expected To Draw In For Game 6

News: David Rundblad is expected to play Wednesday in place of Kimmo Timonen for Game 6 of the Western Conference Finals, Tracey Myers of CSN Chicago reports.
Analysis: David Rundblad is taking warmups and is likely to be paired with Johnny Oduya for Game 6. He hasn't played in this series since Game 1, where he was on the ice for one goal-against as the Blackhawks dropped the series opener.

Hawks' Rundblad To Replace Rozsival

News: David Rundblad will replace Michal Rozsival, who fractured his left ankle Thursday, on the Blackhawks' blue line to open the Western Conference Final, CSN Chicago reports.
Analysis: Coach Joel Quenneville is going with the more offensive defenseman, as Rundlbad had three goals and 11 assists in 49 games in the regular season. He'll probably be rusty, though, as he hasn't skated since April 11. David Rundblad should assume Rozsival's typical 15 to 18 minutes in the opening game, as Quenneville has been giving heavy minutes to Chicago's top four defensemen.

Hawks' Rundblad Returns To Lineup Tuesday

News: David Rundblad will be back in the lineup on Tuesday against the Wild, CSN Chicago reports.
Analysis: David Rundblad has been in and out of the lineup recently; he was most recently a healthy scratch Sunday against the Blues. Kimmo Timonen's upper-body injury will open up a spot in the lineup for Rundblad's return, but it shouldn't be taken as an indicator that the 24-year-old will be able to hold down a regular role going forward.

Hawks' Rundblad Healthy Scratch Sunday

News: David Rundblad is expected to be a healthy scratch on Sunday against the Jets as he has been recently shuttled in and out of the Blackhawks' lineup, CSN Chicago reports.
Analysis: After starting out impressively in the first half of the season, David Rundblad has cooled off and has only one point in his last eight appearances. His last point came on February 26 with an assist against Florida. Despite cooling off, this is his best season in his four years playing in the NHL with three goals and 10 assists in 45 games.

Hawks' Rundblad Continues Career Season

News: David Rundblad registered his 10th assist of the season Thursday in the Blackhawks' 3-0 victory over the Panthers.
Analysis: David Rundblad has three goals and 10 assists in 40 games for the Blackhawks in his first full season for Chicago after coming over from Arizona. It's his best season by far for the 24-year-old defenseman in his sixth NHL season. Rundblad only had a goal and eight assists in five previous seasons with two other clubs where he was shuttled between the NHL team and the minor leagues. After being a healthy scratch on Feb. 20, Rundblad has collected a pair of assists in his last four games.

Hawks' Rundblad Making His Mark In First Half

News: David Rundblad has been showing some good stuff in the first half as one of the last pair of defensemen on the Blackhawks, Hawks general manager Stan Bowman told ESPN Chicago.
Analysis: David Rundblad scored goals in back-to-back games earlier this week and has collected three goals and six assists in 27 games this season. The games skated is the most in his six seasons in the NHL, including stints with Ottawa and Arizona. Bowman gave Rundblad raves so far this season, but it will be interesting once rookie defenseman Trevor Van Riemsdyk returns from a leg injury which could be as early as mid-February. "I think David has probably grabbed the reins the most of all those guys," Bowman said. "He's (Rundblad) really shown he's kind of emerged as a guy that's getting more comfortable. He's always had the talent. I think as a young defenseman it's trying to gain the game-to-game confidence. He's moved from the left side to the right side. Having not only not played the left side much, that was an adjustment for him, but I thought he got pretty good at it."

Blackhawks' Rundblad Scores In Second Straight

News: David Rundblad nabbed a goal in his second straight game Wednesday against the Penguins.
Analysis: David Rundblad has only attempted four shots during those two contests and had just one goal in his previous 25 games, so it's probably not worthwhile to make to much fanfare about the rise in production. If nothing else, though, it may solidify Rundblad's spot in the Chicago lineup over Tim Erixon.

News: David Rundblad is among Chicago's scratches Sunday against the Stars, ESPN Chicago reports.
Analysis: With David Rundblad out, Tim Erixon is slated to be paired on the blue line with Michal Rozsival on Sunday.

Chicago's Rundblad Beginning To Thrive

News: David Rundblad supplied an assist in Monday's win over the Predators.
Analysis: The 24-year-old has contributed a goal and two helpers over his last four games, allowing him to solidify a regular spot on the Blackhawks' third pairing. David Rundblad's limited NHL track record makes it unlikely he'll be able to sustain that production, however, so it's probably too early to make much out of the relative scoring outburst.

Hawks' Rundblad Back In Lineup Tuesday

News: David Rundblad, who has been a healthy scratch the last five games, will be back in the lineup Tuesday against the Wild, ESPN Chicago reports.
Analysis: Duncan Keith is out with an undisclosed illness, and David Rundblad will likely need that to linger or another Chicago blueliner to go down to hold onto a lineup spot. Since being acquired last March from the Coyotes, Rundblad has three assists, a plus-6 rating, 13 hits and 12 blocked shots in 18 games as a Blackhawk.

First Two Points Of Season For Hawks' Rundblad

News: David Rundblad collected his first two points of the year Tuesday, dishing two assists and collecting a plus-2 rating in a 5-0 win over Montreal.
Analysis: That's pretty fine production for a guy who saw less than 13 minutes of ice time. David Rundblad's spent a lot of time in the press box and on the bench so far with Chicago, as he still hasn't been able to break out and realize the scoring potential that he's flashed in Sweden and the AHL.

Coyotes Ship Rundblad To Chicago

News: The Blackhawks acquired David Rundblad from the Coyotes on Tuesday for a 2014 second-round draft pick, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.
Analysis: Acquired by the Coyotes in March 2011 from the Senators in exchange for Kyle Turris, David Rundblad never lived up to expectations in the desert, appearing in a grand total of 18 NHL games over the past two seasons. With Chicago, Rundblad becomes a de facto replacement for extra defenseman Mike Kostka, who the team lost to waivers a week ago.

Coyotes' Rundblad Done With Conditioning Work

News: David Rundblad has been recalled from his conditioning assignment at AHL Portland.
Analysis: David Rundblad was loaned to Portland a week and a half ago to get some ice time with limited work available with the Coyotes. With just one point in 12 games this season, Rundblad will have a tough time cracking the Phoenix lineup now that he's back with the parent club.

Coyotes' Rundblad To Conditioning Assignment

News: David Rundblad was sent on a conditioning assignment by the Coyotes on Friday, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.
Analysis: David Rundblad has been a frequent healthy scratch in the lineup for Phoenix this season. He will take the extra time at the end of the Olympic break to see some regular ice time in the AHL.

Coyotes' Rundblad Frequently Scratched

News: David Rundblad has one assist and a minus-3 rating in 12 games this season.
Analysis: The blueliner has struggled to get in the lineup this season, so it would be wise to steer clear of him in fantasy leagues until he proves he can avoid watching games from the press box.

Coyotes' Rundblad Can't Crack Lineup

News: David Rundblad was a healthy scratch for the fifth straight game Thursday despite the announcement that Zbynek Michalek's injury will keep him out indefinitely.
Analysis: David Rundblad, once a well regarded prospect, has only played in 10 of the Coyotes' 34 games. Until he does whatever Coach Dave Tippett needs to see in order to get regular playing time he is not helping himself or fantasy owners.

Coyotes' Rundblad Picks Up Assist In Return

News: David Rundblad, playing his first game in more than 10 days, picked up an assist on the power play Saturday against Tampa Bay and went plus-1.
Analysis: The 23-year-old Swedish defender still is not seeing consistent playing time, but he made the most of his 12 minutes of ice time Saturday, tallying his first point in seven NHL games this year.

Coyotes' Rundblad Still Not In Lineup

News: David Rundblad was a healthy scratch for the ninth straight game Saturday. He has played in just three of the Coyotes' first 12 games.
Analysis: This time, David Rundblad could not crack the lineup even with Rostislav Klesla out with a lower-body injury, as head coach Dave Tippett turned to Michael Stone instead. Rundblad's star seemed to be on the rise after a strong preseason in which he recorded seven points, but he's clearly not in the Coyotes' immediate plans now that the games count in the standings.

Coyotes Scratch Rundblad For Fourth Straight Game

News: David Rundblad was a healthy scratch for Tuesday's game against Ottawa. It was the fourth straight game for which the young defenseman did not dress.
Analysis: David Rundblad led the Coyotes in scoring in the pre-season, but that seems like a long time ago now that he cannot get into the line-up. He will have to await an injury or another chance to prove himself before he gets any regular minutes with the 'Yotes.

Coyotes' Rundblad A Healthy Scratch

News: David Rundblad, who led the Coyotes in scoring in the preseason, was a healthy scratch for Thursday's game against Detroit and is off to a slow start.
Analysis: The 23-year-old has yet to register a point and is minus-2 on the season. David Rundblad has a lot of potential, but has yet to be able to skate consistent minutes with Phoenix since being acquired from Ottawa in 2011. He has shown flashes of offensive potential, but clearly needs to do more to get the ice time to live up to it.

Coyotes' Rundblad Held Off The Scoresheet

News: David Rundblad, who led the Coyotes with seven points in the preseason, was held off the scoresheet Thursday against the Rangers.
Analysis: He did take a two-minute penalty and blocked three shots in 17:57 of ice time. David Rundblad was one of the leaders in time on the power play for Phoenix with 2:49 as he skated primarily with the first unit. If that continues the 22-year-old could be a good source of power-play points in 2013-14.

Coyotes' Rundblad Signs Two-Year Deal

News: David Rundblad signed to a two-year deal with the Coyotes, AZCentral.com reports.
Analysis: David Rundblad played in 58 games last season, eight with the Coyotes and 50 with AHL Portland, where he scored nine goals and logged 39 points, good for eighth-best among AHL defensemen.

Coyotes Return Rundblad To AHL

News: David Rundblad was sent down to the AHL on Tuesday.
Analysis: David Rundblad was recalled Saturday as the flu bug swept through the Phoenix locker room, but it looks as though the team is healthy and Rundblad's presence is no longer needed for depth. He has one point in eight games at the NHL level this season.

Coyotes' Rundblad Recalled

News: The Coyotes recalled David Rundblad and Alexandre Bolduc from AHL Portland on Saturday, the team's official website reports.
Analysis: David Rundblad has one point in eight games with the Coyotes this season and is the leading scorer among defensemen for AHL Portland. The former first-round pick is unlikely to see enough of the ice to register a fantasy impact this year, even in deeper leagues.
