Jets' Scheifele: Two Point Game; Both On PP

News: Mark Scheifele picked up a goal and an assist, both of which came on the power play, in Saturday's OT win. He has six points in his last eight games.
Analysis: He now has 33 points on the season, just one shy of his career mark from last season. His fantasy value is largely in the future, but he can deliver some help in leagues that carry large active rosters.

Jets' Scheifele Nets Two Assists In Win

News: Mark Scheifele dished out a pair of helpers in Sunday's win over Colorado.
Analysis: Skating on a line with Dustin Byfuglien and Mathieu Perreault, the trio combined for three goals and eight points in the win. Mark Scheifele, who has great potential, has now recorded points in back-to-back games and is up to eight goals and 30 points in 55 games on the season. While he's been inconsistent, the 21-year-old is worth looking at in deeper leagues, as he's skating in the top six of a Jets' team that is in desperate need of a good stretch run to make the playoffs.

Jets' Scheifele Snaps Scoring Drought

News: Mark Scheifele scored a goal and registered one hit in Friday's overtime loss to the Blackhawks.
Analysis: Mark Scheifele's goal on Friday was his first in ten games, and only his second in the Jets' last 22 games. Offensive production has been an ongoing issue for the defensive-minded Jets all season. Winnipeg, as a team, averages 2.65 goals scored per game, good for 20th best in the NHL. The Jets, and Scheifele, will hope that Friday's goal may spark an uptick in offensive production for the second year center.

Jets' Scheifele Records Assist, Four Hits In Loss

News: Mark Scheifele recorded four hits and a power-play assist in Thursday's loss to the Flyers.
Analysis: Dating back to before the All-Star break, Mark Scheifele has notched an assist in three of his last four games. With seven goals and 27 points in 50 games, the 21-year-old is faring well for a player with less than two full seasons under his belt, but he's probably only on the radar in mid-sized or deeper leagues at this time.

Jets' Scheifele Chips In Two Helpers

News: Mark Scheifele contributed a pair of assists and went plus-4 in Tuesday's 8-2 demolition of the Panthers.
Analysis: That's a pair of two-point games in a row for Mark Scheifele and five points in his last four, a stretch that comes on the heels of a five-game scoring slump. Inconsistency's to be expected from the 21-year-old, but his game is clearly developing.

Jets' Scheifele Finds Twine In Loss

News: Mark Scheifele scored his seventh goal of the season and had an assist in Sunday's loss to Anaheim.
Analysis: After a recent five-game scoring drought, Mark Scheifele now has three points in his last three games, giving him seven goals and 22 points in 43 games on the season. While the 21-year-old is on pace for 40 points, he's been very inconsistent, with four-game scoring droughts being a regular occurrence. He's centering the second line and has loads of potential, but he needs to show some more consistency before we can trust him in anything but deep leagues.

Jets' Scheifele Ends Point Drought

News: Mark Scheifele broke a five-game point drought with an assist in Thursday's game against the Coyotes.
Analysis: The 21-year-old's future is bright, but he's still prone to slumps like most young forwards. Mark Scheifele should be kept active when the points are trickling in fairly steadily, but can safely be benched otherwise.

Point Streak Reaches Four For Jets' Scheifele

News: Mark Scheifele extended his point streak to four games by grabbing an assist in Tuesday's 5-1 win over the Blackhawks.
Analysis: Mark Scheifele has supplied six points during that four-game stretch, flashing the game-changing ability on offense that he demonstrated in spurts as a rookie. The 21-year-old isn't much more than a quality depth forward in fantasy leagues at this point, but it wouldn't be a surprise if he tops out as an annual 60-point scorer once he reaches his peak.

Jets' Scheifele Turns In Three-Point Night

News: Mark Scheifele scored two goals on five shots, added a power-play assist, went plus-2 and took a minor penalty in Tuesday's 5-1 whipping of the Sabres.
Analysis: That's the second three-point effort in the last three games for Mark Scheifele, spiking his point total from 10 to 16 in the space of less than a week. He's starting to look like the studly young scorer we expect him to develop into, though it seems like further inconsistency is to be expected this season.

Jets' Scheifele Racks Up Three Points

News: Mark Scheifele factored into all three Winnipeg goals Thursday, scoring his fourth goal and handing out two power-play assists.
Analysis: The 2011 No. 7 pick is still looking to get his game going this year, as he owns a disappointing 13 points in 30 games on the season and had picked up just a singular assist over the eight games prior to Thursday's contest, but perhaps this is a sign that the super-talented center is ready to break out. At the least, it's worth monitoring.

Jets' Scheifele Expected To Play Tuesday

News: Mark Scheifele (lower body) is expected to play in Tuesday's game against the Devils, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: Mark Scheifele made it through Tuesday's morning skate without issue, which puts him on pace to take the ice Tuesday night, barring any setbacks leading up to game time.

Jets' Scheifele May Skate Tuesday

News: Mark Scheifele (lower body) may be able to take the morning skate Tuesday, Darren Dreger of TSN reports.
Analysis: Even if he's unable to join his teammates on the ice Tuesday morning, the early indications are that he's dealing with a day-to-day injury rather than a long-term one after leaving Sunday's game against the Wild.

Jets' Scheifele Will Not Return Sunday

News: Mark Scheifele (lower body) will not return to Sunday's game against the Wild.
Analysis: Mark Scheifele left Sunday's game in the second period with an apparent knee injury. The official diagnoses from the team is a lower-body injury, however, and he should be considered day-to-day heading into Tuesday's game against the Devils.

Jets' Scheifele Leaves Sunday With Knee Injury

News: Mark Scheifele left Sunday's game in the second period with a right knee injury, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: It's still undetermined if Mark Scheifele will be able to return to Sunday's game against the Wild. He should be considered day-to-day moving forward until the exact severity of his injury is released.

Scheifele Picks Up Two Helpers For Jets

News: Mark Scheifele assisted twice and went plus-2 in Thursday's win over the Hurricanes.
Analysis: Mark Scheifele was one of many slow starters for the Jets this year, but he's collected five points in his last five games, so things have been looking up lately for the No. 7 overall pick in 2011.

Jets' Scheifele Notches Power-Play Tally

News: Mark Scheifele scored his second goal of the year -- a power-play marker -- Tuesday against Nashville, and it ended up serving as the game-winner.
Analysis: Big things were expected from the 21-year-old Mark Scheifele this year after his 34-point rookie campaign last season, but he's managed just three points in first 13 games and has struggled in the faceoff circle. It's worth wondering whether he could benefit from some time in the minors -- he's never played a regular-season AHL game -- but it seems the Jets are fairly committed to keeping 2011's No. 7 overall pick in their lineup. If he can become more consistent, he's certainly got upside in his top-six role, as he's seeing nearly 19 minutes of ice per game.

Jets' Scheifele Scores First Of Season

News: Mark Scheifele scored his first of the season in Sunday's loss to the Flames.
Analysis: Mark Scheifele has had a slow start to the season, netting a goal and an assist in five games, to go with nine shots. Sunday was a good sign, however, as Scheifele's goal was assisted by Blake Wheeler, a player the team hopes Scheifele can mesh with on the top line. If these two find chemistry, Scheifele will start racking up the points.

Jets' Scheifele Playing In Worlds

News: Mark Scheifele (knee) will play for Team Canada against Denmark in their first game of the 2014 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship on Thursday.
Analysis: A sprained MCL cost Mark Scheifele the last month of what had been shaping up to be a fabulous rookie season with the Jets, but he nursed himself back to full health shortly after the regular season came to a close. With a strong showing for Canada, he could set himself up for an big sophomore season with Winnipeg.

Jets' Scheifele May Skate Soon

News: Mark Scheifele (knee) may resume skating in a few days.
Analysis: Mark Scheifele's activity will depend on what doctors have to say about the progress he's made thus far, but it's still more likely than not he doesn't play anymore this season. He's about four weeks through the six-to-eight-week timetable initially established for him.

Jets' Scheifele Recovering As Expected

News: Coach Paul Maurice said Mark Scheifele (knee) has recovered as anticipated thus far.
Analysis: Maurice was quick to rule out any sort of early return for Mark Scheifele, who is at the one week mark of a six-to-eight week recovery process. Don't expect to see him back until mid-April at the earliest, although it's equally as likely that he misses the rest of the season.

Jets' Scheifele Sprains MCL

News: Mark Scheifele has a sprained MCL and will miss the next 6-8 weeks, Gary Lawless of the Winnipeg Free Press reports.
Analysis: The 20-year-old center has played well for the Jets this season, recording 13 goals and 21 assists in 63 games, and producing at a more steady clip following a sluggish start to the season.

Jets' Scheifele Could Miss 6-8 Weeks

News: There are fears that Mark Scheifele suffered an MCL injury Tuesday that could keep him out 6-8 weeks, TSN.ca reports.
Analysis: We'll await confirmation of the report -- one way or the other -- from the Jets, but losing the 20-year-old forward for any length of time would be a big blow to the team up front. To date, Mark Scheifele has recorded 13 goals and 21 assists in 63 games in his first full season with the Jets.

Jets' Scheifele (Knee) Exits Game In Second Period

News: Mark Scheifele did not return to the bench for the third period Tuesday against the Islanders after suffering an apparent knee injury, the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: Mark Scheifele took a hit from the Islanders' Calvin de Haan in the second period, and has yet to return to the game. He'll be evaluated after the game, and if he's forced to miss time, Olli Jokinen and Jim Slater would be potential candidates to take his place on the second line.

Jets' Scheifele Returns To Ice Friday

News: After missing Thursday's practice due to a bout with the flu, Mark Scheifele was back on the ice for Friday's session, Ed Tait of the Winnipeg Free Press reports.
Analysis: Barring a recurrence of the flu-like symptoms, Mark Scheifele should be on the ice when the Jets resume play Thursday vs. the Coyotes. The forward has 13 goals, 21 assists and a plus-9 rating over 60 games for Winnipeg.

Jets' Scheifele Tallies Two Goals In Victory

News: Mark Scheifele found twine twice in the Jets' shootout loss to the Blues on Saturday.
Analysis: After a 12-point January, Schiefele went without a tally in his first three games to kick off February, but ended the skid in impressive fashion Saturday. While he's producing, Mark Scheifele makes more of a decent depth forward in mid-sized formats.
