Isles' Strome Plays Wing

News: Ryan Strome played wing versus the Canadiens on Thursday, according to Newsday's Arthur Staple.
Analysis: While on its own this position change is not all that important, it could show that the Islanders are willing to move Ryan Strome to wing next season in order to get him on one of the top two lines. As it stands now, the Isles' top two centers are John Tavares and Frans Nielsen, and Strome can better reach his potential by playing with talented forwards.

Isles' Strome Scores In Second Straight

News: Ryan Strome scored one of the Islanders' two goals in Friday's win over New Jersey and also registered the winning shootout goal.
Analysis: Ryan Strome scored against Montreal on Thursday and again Friday against New Jersey, a power-play marker. He's still more potential than production at this point of his career, but he's one to keep an eye on next season.

Isles' Strome Tallies Power-Play Goal

News: Ryan Strome broke a scoreless tie with 4:55 remaining in the third period Thursday in Montreal, potting a power-play goal that held up as the game-winner.
Analysis: The goal snapped a three-game pointless slump for Ryan Strome and was his first time finding twine in two weeks, as he last scored March 27. Don't be fooled by his meager 17 points on the year -- Strome has big upside, and he could start realizing it as soon as next season.

Isles' Strome Collects Two Helpers Wednesday

News: Ryan Strome picked up two assists in Wednesday night's win over the Senators.
Analysis: The former fifth overall pick has played just 31 career NHL games, but has started to settle in and find his scoring touch of late. His two points Wednesday give him six in his last five games, and a line of 5/11/16 on the season.

Effective Game For Isles' Strome

News: Ryan Strome dished out two assists and went plus-4 in Tuesday's victory over Carolina, though he went just 3-for-12 on faceoffs.
Analysis: Ryan Strome's shown some flashes, particularly lately, of the player he's going to be one day. He has eight points in his last 12 games, offering some utility in deeper formats, but obviously his value is greatest in keeper leagues.

Isles' Strome Gets Goal In Comeback Win

News: Ryan Strome scored a power-play goal in Monday's 7-4 victory over the Canucks.
Analysis: After getting off to a slow start in his first extended action with the Islanders earlier this season, Ryan Strome has settled in nicely since being recalled following the Olympic break. He has five points in his last six games with the parent club.

Isles Recall Strome

News: The Islanders recalled Ryan Strome from AHL Bridgeport on Monday.
Analysis: Ryan Strome played 15 games with the Islanders earlier this season, and recorded one goal and three assists over that span. He has also racked up 13 goals and 36 assists in 37 games with Bridgeport to date.

Strome Expected To Return To Isles After Olympics

News: Ryan Strome is expected to return to the Islanders once the season picks up again after the Olympics, according to Newsday.
Analysis: Ryan Strome was only sent down in mid-January so that he would be eligible to play in the AHL during the Olympics. With Frans Nielsen expected to miss at least the first week of games after the Olympics, Strome could find himself centering the second line.

Isles Send Strome Back To Bridgeport

News: Ryan Strome was returned to AHL Bridgeport on Wednesday, Arthur Staple of Newsday reports.
Analysis: The 20-year-old didn't make enough of an impact to justify his job as the third-line center, scoring only four points in 15 games. He'll look to hone is development in the minors for a little while longer and will probably get another opportunity with the Islanders before the season draws to a close.

Isles' Strome Struggling To Score

News: Ryan Strome has one goal and three assists over 15 games with the Islanders this season.
Analysis: Installed on the third line after he was recalled from AHL Bridgeport in mid-December, Ryan Strome hasn't really made the splash some might have expected the former fifth overall pick to make. Still just 20 years old, Strome might not emerge as a star this season, but he certainly has the capability of becoming one in the years to come. He's a more intriguing commodity in keeper leagues at this time.

Isles' Strome Makes Debut

News: Ryan Strome fired two shots in 14:42 Saturday against Montreal. It was his NHL debut.
Analysis: No worries about no points -- the Isles lost 1-0 in OT, so no one hit the board. He's a huge-upside player who's young, so he'll likely be a bit inconsistent. But that's tolerable with an upside as high as his.

Strome Now To Make Isles Debut Saturday

News: Ryan Strome will make his Islanders debut Saturday, according to Newsday.
Analysis: The Islanders seem to make more head scratching moves than not. They recall Ryan Strome on Monday but due to travel problems tell him to report to Phoenix on Wednesday. They then decide not to play him against the Coyotes but delay his NHL debut until Saturday at home. Then why exactly would you have him fly across country in the first place if you never had any intention of playing him?

Isles' Strome To Make Debut Thursday

News: Ryan Strome is expected to make his NHL debut Thursday versus Phoenix, according to Newsday.
Analysis: Ryan Strome was supposed to play Tuesday night versus the Sharks but travel issues made that an impossibility. There is no word yet on what the line combinations will be but Strome could end up centering the third line and having to work his way up to a top six forward.

Isles To Finally Call Up Strome

News: Ryan Strome has been called up by the Islanders, according to Newsday.
Analysis: Ryan Strome is the Isles' top offensive prospect. The team's resisted the temptation to call him up so as not to mess with his development, and they've struggled to find a spot for him as well. The Isles don't want him to play wing, preferring he stay at his natural center position, but that may mean he has to play on the third line, as John Tavares and Frans Nielsen are the top two pivots. Still, he's worth a pickup if you have a dead spot on your roster. One caveat: Outside of Tavares, the Islanders are legendary for mishandling their youngsters, so it's anyone's guess how this will all play out.

Isles' Strome Only Playing Center In AHL

News: The Islanders have abandoned the idea of moving Ryan Strome to wing, according to Newsday.
Analysis: First, the odds of Ryan Strome being called up just got longer, as the Isles have plenty of depth at center (Josh Bailey) to cover an injury to either John Tavares or Frans Nielsen. This also means that Strome and Tavares won't play together on the top line. Strome seems like a long shot to get a significant chance with the Islanders this season.

Islanders Send Strome To AHL

News: Ryan Strome was sent to Bridgeport of the AHL on Monday, according to Newsday.
Analysis: Most observers don't believe Ryan Strome has anything left to prove in the AHL, but with the Islanders signing Pierre-Marc Bouchard and Peter Regin, there just isn't a top-six forward position open right now.

Islanders' Strome Tallies Two Points

News: Ryan Strome scored a goal and added an assist against the Senators on Sunday. He also was a plus-2.
Analysis: This was a split-squad exhibition game, so you don't want to read anything into the performance itself. Ryan Strome's roster looked more like a "B" team, which may not bode well in terms of his chances of making the Islanders' roster, or at least staying there.

Strome's Chances Of Making Islanders Increase

News: Ryan Strome's chances of making the Islanders may have increased with the injury to Cal Clutterbuck, according to the Islanders Point Blank.
Analysis: The Islanders have one, possibly two opening on their team for a prospect. Ryan Strome has nothing else to prove at the AHL level and could be dynamic force at the NHL level. He possesses the kind of talent that will scare opposing defensemen as he is a highlight reel waiting to happen. There is a chance that Strome could end up on a line with John Tavares and Matt Moulson as the Isles have been using him at wing rather than his natural center position. This may be the most intriguing thing to watch in Islanders camp.

Isles' Strome Could Move To Wing

News: The Islanders are considering moving Ryan Strome from center to wing.
Analysis: Ryan Strome played in 10 games with AHL Bridgeport at the end of last season, and registered seven points while playing the majority of the time as a winger. The fifth overall pick in the 2011 NHL Draft turns 20 years old Thursday, and is preparing for his first full season as a professional, though whether or not he makes the Islanders roster will be determined before the season starts.

Islanders Reassign Strome To AHL

News: The Islanders reassigned Ryan Strome to the AHL's Bridgeport Sound Tigers on Monday.
Analysis: Ryan Strome played in 53 games this season for the Niagara IceDogs and led the team with 94 points (34 goals, 60 assists). The 2011 first round pick will be looking to make his AHL debut sometime in the near future.

Strome Sent Back To Junior By The Islanders

News: Ryan Strome was sent down to Junior by the Islanders on Thursday, according to Newsday's Arthur Staple.
Analysis: Ryan Strome has a closet full of talent but will likely have to wait until next season to display it in the NHL. The Islanders need all the scoring help they can muster but also realize that it may not be wise to start Strome's rookie contract in a shortened season in which the Isles are not expected to be all the competitive. Strome however is someone to think about in long term keeper leagues or dynasty drafts.

Strome Will Be In Camp With The Islanders

News: Ryan Strome will attend training camp with the Islanders, according to Newsday's Arthur Staple.
Analysis: The big question is whether or not Ryan Strome will stick with the team during the regular season. Strome has a ton of talent/potential and is a highlight reel in junior. Can he translate that talent to the NHL. Probably, but the bigger question could be what the new rules will be in the CBA. Can the Islanders send him back to junior after a nine game tryout? That question has yet to be answered. If the answer is yes, than Strome is likely to get that tryout, if not, then it could be see you next season for the young playmaker.
