Bruins Reassign Warsofsky

News: David Warsofsky (groin) was activated from IR and reassigned to AHL Providence, Mark Divver of the Providence Journal reports.
Analysis: David Warsofsky took part in a full practice Tuesday to convince the Bruins his groin was no longer bothering him, but with Zdeno Chara also set to return in advance of Thursday's game, the team didn't have room for the returns of both players. As a result, Warsofsky will head back to the minors, where he'll be forced to wait for another injury on the Boston blue line to open up an opportunity.

Bruins' Warsofsky Practices In Full

News: David Warsofsky (groin) logged a full practice Tuesday, Joe Haggerty of CSN New England reports.
Analysis: The Bruins received a bounty of good news on the injury front Tuesday, as all of David Krejci, Zdeno Chara and David Warsofsky were able to turn in full practices after missing extensive time due to their respective injuries. While the development would seemingly bode well for Warsofsky's chances of returning to the game action in the near future, Chara's impending activation may end up costing him a spot with the parent club. If the Bruins decide that either Zach Trotman or Joe Morrow is a better fit on their bottom pairing, Warsofsky would likely be forced to head back to AHL Providence once he's fully healthy.

Bruins' Warsofsky Practices

News: David Warsofsky (groin) participated in practice Saturday.
Analysis: While it's unclear when David Warsofsky will be available to re-join the Bruins' blue line mix, the unit is still dealing with injuries, so whether Warsofsky sticks around or heads to the AHL once he's up to speed presumably hinges on the health of of his fellow defensemen at that point.

Bruins' Warsofsky Starting To Skate

News: David Warsofsky (groin) skated prior to Thursday's practice.
Analysis: While both David Warsofsky and Zdeno Chara (ankle) worked out on their own rather than with the team's healthy skaters, their presence on the ice could allow them to join the rest of the team for practice perhaps at some point next week. Warsofsky is about at the midway point of the two-to-four week recovery timetable he was given back on Nov. 9.

Bruins Place Warsofsky On IR

News: David Warsofsky (groin) was transferred to injured reserve Monday.
Analysis: With David Warsofsky set to miss the next two-to-four weeks with the groin injury, the Bruins decided to move the blueliner to IR in order to open up a roster spot for Torey Krug (finger), who will return to action Monday. Warsofsky is expected to return to AHL Province once he's recovered from the groin ailment.

Bruins' Warsofsky Out 2-4 Weeks

News: GM Peter Chiarelli confirmed Sunday that David Warsofsky will be out 2-4 weeks with a groin strain, the Bruins' official site reports.
Analysis: Once David Warsofsky returns to action, he could well head back to the AHL, depending on the health of the rest of the Bruins' blue line corps when that time arrives.

Bruins' Warsofsky To Miss Time

News: David Warsofsky is expected to miss two to three weeks with a pulled groin muscle, according to the Boston Herald.
Analysis: David Warsofsky, who had been filling in on the Bruins' blue line while fellow mobile blueliner Torey Krug (among others) was sidelined, recorded an assist in his four games with the big club. Upon his return to health, a return to AHL Providence seems plausible, depending on the health of Boston's other defensemen at that time.

Bruins' Warsofsky 'Out A While'

News: Coach Claude Julien said David Warsofsky would be "out for a while" after suffering an injury during Thursday's game against the Oilers, Joe Haggerty of CSNNE.com reports.
Analysis: Called up by the Bruins on Oct. 29 to serve as a de facto fill-in for Torey Krug (finger), David Warsofsky saw only four games of action before falling victim to an injury of his own. Warsofsky had showcased some crisp passing skills and looked like he would become a reliable puck-mover for the Bruins while remaining in the lineup, but the likelihood of a long-term injury will probably knock him off the fantasy radar. With Krug already back practicing, it seems probable that Warsofsky will have to head back to AHL Providence once he returns to full health.

Bruins' Warsofsky Nets First Point

News: David Warsofsky picked up his first point of the year Thursday, a first-period assist in a 5-2 win over Edmonton.
Analysis: He skated a season-low 15:05 on the bottom defensive pairing, but delivered one more point of offense than we'd seen out of him in his first three contests. David Warsofsky flashed some upside at the AHL level last year, collecting 32 points in 56 games and another nine points over 12 playoff contests, but the undersized defender has been off to a brutal start to this season, having gone scoreless in seven AHL games prior to his call-up. He is seeing solid power-play ice time still, which at least says that the Bruins are optimistic about his offense coming around.

Warsofsky Suits Up For Bruins

News: David Warsofsky saw 18:09 worth of ice time in Thursday's game against the Sabres.
Analysis: With fellow mobile blueliner Torey Krug out, David Warsofsky saw 1:49 worth of power play time on Thursday, and if that trend continues, Warsofsky could merit attention in deeper leagues in the short term.

Opportunity Knocks For Bruins' Warsofsky

News: Opportunity knocks for David Warsofsky, with Torey Krug out for two-to-three-weeks, csnne.com reports.
Analysis: The Bruins have also recalled fellow blueliner Joe Morrow, but we suspect that the mobile David Warsofsky will have an opportunity to fill in for Krug, and if he sees power play time -- a plausible outcome -- he could carve out some short-term fantasy utility in deeper formats.

Bruins Recall Warsofsky

News: David Warsofsky was recalled from AHL Providence on Wednesday, Joe Haggerty of CSNNE.com reports.
Analysis: After Torey Krug took a hard shot off his foot and a slice to his finger tip Tuesday night, David Warsofsky and Joe Morrow were imported from Providence to give the team some added depth on defense. It's not yet known if Krug will be able to play Thursday against the Sabres, but the puck-moving Warsofsky could represent an adequate replacement option if called upon in his stead.

Bruins' Warsofsky Headed To AHL

News: David Warsofsky will be assigned to AHL Providence after clearing waivers, the Boston Herald reports.
Analysis: David Warsofsky will thus remain in the Bruins' blue line depth mix and he's a candidate for an in-season call-up when injuries hit the big club. In the meantime, the mobile defender will log regular ice time with Providence, where he recorded 32 points in 56 games last season.

Bruins Waive Warsofsky

News: David Warsofsky was waived by the Bruins on Saturday, TSN's Bob McKenzie reports.
Analysis: It was undoubtedly tough for the Bruins to part with David Warsofsky, considering the speed and scoring acumen he demonstrated while with AHL Providence the last three seasons. Unfortunately, there was no room for him on the Bruins' deep blue line, forcing the team to leave him unprotected on waivers. There's a decent chance that another NHL team may recognize his potential and claim him.

Bruins' Warsofsky Won't Play Saturday

News: David Warsofsky will not be in the lineup for Saturday's preseason game against the Red Wings.
Analysis: With Torey Krug back in the mix, David Warsofsky could be on the Bruins' roster bubble, though the Boston Herald notes that the blueliner would have to clear waivers in order for the team to assign him to AHL Providence.

Bruins' Warsofsky Sees Added Opportunities

News: With restricted free agent Torey Krug still unsigned, David Warsofsky has seen added opportunities at training camp, csnne.com reports.
Analysis: Similar to Krug, David Warsofsky is a smallish blueliner who relies heavily on his mobility, though once Krug is back in the fold, Warsofsky figures to slot in as a depth blueliner with the B's. That said, when Warsofsky does see ice time with the big club, he has some upside on offense in the event that he draws any power play duty.

Bruins Ink Warsofsky To One-Year, Two-Way Deal

News: David Warsofsky agreed to a one-year, two-way contract with the Bruins on Thursday.
Analysis: The diminutive blueliner is coming off a productive season at AHL Providence, where he supplied six goals and 26 assists over 56 games, ranking fourth on the team in points. He parlayed that minor league success into his first NHL call-up in December, ultimately finishing with two points in six games. With no present openings on the Bruins' top three pairings, David Warsofsky is likely bound for Providence to start the upcoming season, but should be one of the team's top replacement options should the parent club suffer an injury on defense.

Bruins' Warsofsky Reassigned To AHL

News: David Warsofsky was reassigned to AHL Providence on Saturday, the Bruins' official website reports.
Analysis: David Warsofsky picked up the first assist of his career Saturday, so he'll head to the AHL with a bit of momentum. Once the Olympic break concludes, he will likely rejoin the Bruins.

Bruins' Warsofsky Gathers First Career Assist

News: David Warsofsky picked up an assist - the first of his NHL career - in Saturday's 7-2 win over the Senators.
Analysis: For the second consecutive game, David Warsofsky saw heavy minutes (20:10 TOI) with Zdeno Chara over in Sochi for the flag-carrying ceremonies. Warsofsky carries much promise as an offensive defenseman, but the return of Chara after the break will likely result in him being sent to the minors.

Warsofsky Sees Time With Bruins

News: David Warsofsky took two shots and recorded a minus-2 rating in 17:58 worth of ice in Thursday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Blues.
Analysis: Though it did not result in any points for David Warsofsky, the mobile blueliner saw a team-high 5:28 worth of power play time Thursday. With Zdeno Chara unavailable for the Bruins' game against the Senators on Saturday, Warsofsky makes for a sneaky play in the team's final contest before the Olympic break, thanks to his anticipated power play usage.

Opportunity Knocks For Bruins' Warsofsky

News: David Warsofsky should see an expanded role with Zdeno Chara unavailable for the Bruins' next two games in advance of the upcoming Olympic break, the Boston Herald reports.
Analysis: David Warsofsky, who has recorded a goal in four games with the big club to date, brings mobility and puck-moving upside to the table and it's plausible that he could see some power-play work over the B's next couple of games. To that end, he worked on the team's first power-play unit at practice Wednesday.

Bruins Recall Warsofsky

News: David Warsofsky has been recalled by the Bruins.
Analysis: Zdeno Chara will miss two games this week, as he will be carrying the flag for Slovakia during the Opening Ceremony at the upcoming Winter Olympics in Sochi. David Warsofsky has 26 points over 42 games with AHL Providence this season and might be an intriguing short-term add, given his prowess at the offensive end.

Bruins Recall Warsofsky

News: The Bruins have recalled David Warsofsky from AHL Providence on an emergency basis, the team's official site reports.
Analysis: David Warsofsky is on track to play Saturday against the Senators, with Dennis Seidenberg having been ruled out for the contest. While Warsofsky has not scored a point in three games with the big club to date, the undersized blueliner has not looked out of place at the NHL level, while displaying mobility and puck-moving upside in the process.

Bruins Send Warsofsky To AHL

News: The Bruins have assigned David Warsofsky to AHL Providence, the team's official site reports.
Analysis: David Warsofsky did not record a point in his three-game stint with the B's, but the 5-9 170-pounder held his own at the NHL level, while displaying promise as a mobile puck-moving blueliner in the mold of teammate Torey Krug.
