Zibanejad Helps Sens Past Ducks

News: Mika Zibanejad scored his ninth goal of the season, had an assist, was credited with four shots on goal, and was a plus-3 in Friday's win over the Ducks.
Analysis: An all-around great fantasy night for Mika Zibanejad, who now has 17 points in 30 games on the season. After a slow start, Zibanejad has heated up, recording six goals and 11 points in his last nine games. Skating on the second line with Bobby Ryan, the 21-year-old could hit the 25-goal mark in 2014-15, making him worthy of a look right now.

Sens' Zibanejad Nets Eighth Goal

News: Mika Zibanejad notched his eighth goal of the season in Saturday's win over the Bruins.
Analysis: On the heels of a four-point outburst last Sunday against the Canucks, Mika Zibanejad has settled in quite nicely under new coach Dave Cameron. Though he only fired off one shot attempt Saturday, he fired off a season-high seven in a loss to the Kings earlier in the week and appears primed to factor in prominently in the Sens' plans the rest of the season. That's a significant upgrade from where he was a little over a month and a half ago, when he finished October with one point and 14 shots over nine games.

Sens' Zibanejad Torches Canucks Sunday

News: Mika Zibanejad torched the Canucks on Sunday, scoring twice and adding two assists in a 4-3 win.
Analysis: Mika Zibanejad has been red-hot lately, scoring in three straight games and recording seven points in his last four games. The 21-year-old now has 13 points (seven goals) in 23 games, putting him on track for the first 20-goal season of his NHL career. The second-line center is worth a look right now, at least until his hot streak comes to an end.

Zibanejad Scores Sens' Lone Goal Thursday

News: Mika Zibanejad scored a power-play goal to account for the entirety of the Ottawa offense Thursday in a loss to the Islanders.
Analysis: It's his second straight game with a point, but overall Mika Zibanejad has seen a serious decline from last season's production despite seeing more than a minute of additional ice time per game. On the bright side, Thursday was the first time Zibanejad won more faceoffs (nine) than he lost (six) since way back on Oct. 26 against Chicago.

Sens Scratch Zibanejad On Tuesday

News: Mika Zibanejad wasn't on the ice for pregame warmups and will be a healthy scratch for Tuesday's game against the Blues, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports.
Analysis: The Senators have dropped six of their last eight games, and coach Paul MacLean seems inclined to shake up his lineup with the hope of generating more positive results. The timing of Mika Zibanejad's assignment to the press box is a bit odd, as such a lineup decision probably should have happened early in the season, when the forward failed to score a point and attempted just nine shots on goal over his first eight games. Milan Michalek will also serve as a healthy scratch Tuesday, with both Colin Greening and Erik Condra entering the lineup.

Sens' Zibanejad Showing Signs Of Life

News: Mika Zibanejad scored his third goal of the season in Saturday's 3-2 loss to the visiting Blues. He now has three points in the last four games.
Analysis: Mika Zibanejad had doubled his point total from three to six on the season over the last four contests, indicating that perhaps he's ready to turn the corner. At the very least, the recent production should help him ascend Ottawa's depth chart from his current spot on the team's fourth line.

Sens' Zibanejad: Second Consecutive Game With Goal

News: Mika Zibanejad scored a goal in his second consecutive game in Saturday's loss to Boston.
Analysis: He has disappointed so far, but perhaps this two-game, two-goal spurt is a foreshadowing of a more productive fate. Watch and wait -- he needs to show us a lot more before he can be trusted.

Sens' Zibanejad Finally Gets Point

News: Mika Zibanejad collected his first point of the season Thursday against the Blackhawks, finding the net for the game-tying tally late in the third period.
Analysis: It was by far Mika Zibanejad's most productive outing to date, as he attempted a season-high five shots and contributed three hits defensively. The 21-year-old has been a huge disappointment with the lone point in nine games, but the increased shot attempts Thursday provide a glimmer of hope that he may break out of his season-long slumber.

Sens' Zibanejad Looking Lost Early On

News: Mika Zibanejad has failed to record a point and has a minus-3 rating through eight games.
Analysis: It would be disappointing enough if Mika Zibanejad was simply a victim of some bad puck luck offensively, but it's even more worrisome that he's barely shooting at all. Zibanejad has just nine attempts on the season, with the young center looking extremely tentative and lacking in confidence on one of the tries he had from point-blank range Tuesday night. Despite his non-existent scoring, the 21-year-old has yet to notice a drop in minutes, but the Senators' patience could wear thin if his tepid play continues for much longer.

Senators' Zibanejad Out For Final Two Games

News: Mika Zibanejad will not play in the Senators' final two games due to an unspecified injury or health issue, Wayne Scanlan of the Ottawa Citizen reports.
Analysis: Mika Zibanejad left Thursday's game and was taken to the hospital for precautionary reasons, but the Senators have not provided any other updates outside of ruling him out for the weekend.

Sens' Zibanejad Taken To Hospital

News: Mika Zibanejad left Thursday's game and was taken to the hospital for what coach Paul MacLean called "precautionary reasons", Senators Extra reports.
Analysis: With just two games remaining and the playoffs no longer a possibility, the Sens will likely take a cautious approach with Mika Zibanejad's injury/illness, whatever it may be.

Zibanejad Busy In Sens' Loss

News: Mika Zibanejad grabbed a goal and an assist in Friday's 7-4 loss to Montreal. The goal was his second in the last three games he's played.
Analysis: Mika Zibanejad skipped Tuesday's game against Florida but did return on Wednesday against the Islanders. He's shown the ability to play alongside newly acquired winger Ales Hemsky and will be a large part of Ottawa's future. He's worth a look in deeper leagues in the season's final week, just don't expect huge numbers.

Sens' Zibanejad Will Play Friday

News: Mika Zibanejad (upper body) will play Friday against the Blackhawks, TSN's Brent Wallace reports.
Analysis: Mika Zibanejad was a surprise scratch with the injury Tuesday against the Panthers, but his availability for Friday's contest indicates his ailment was of the minor variety. The 20-year-old has 27 points in 61 games this season.

Sens' Zibanejad Sits Tuesday With Injury

News: Mika Zibanejad sat out Tuesday's game against the Panthers with an upper-body ailment, Don Brennan of the Ottawa Sun reports.
Analysis: The Senators didn't provide too much clarity on the matter, but Mika Zibanejad presumably sustained the injury in Monday's win over the Lightning. He was replaced in Tuesday's lineup by Matt Kassian.

Zibanejad Scores Lone Sens Goal In Loss

News: Mika Zibanejad blasted his 12th goal of the season past the Avs' Semyon Varlamov. It was Ottawa's only tally in a 3-1 loss Sunday.
Analysis: Mika Zibanejad one-timed a perfect Erik Karlsson pass from the point - his first goal in 15 games - past Varlamov, who was caught deep in his net. Unfortunately for the Senators, the only purpose the shutout-snapping goal served was pride-related, as it came with just six seconds left in the game. The 20-year-old Swede now has 12 goals, 14 assists, a minus-12 rating and 16 PIM while averaging 14:17 of ice term per-game in 57 games this season. In otherwards, he's not yet playing to his lofty 2011 sixth-overall pick status and you should look elsewhere for now.

Sens' Zibanejad Centering Fourth Line

News: Mika Zibanejad is expected to center the fourth line Monday against the Predators, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports.
Analysis: Mika Zibanejad was getting some opportunities to play wing alongside Jason Spezza earlier in the season, but was moved back to center with the addition of Ales Hemsky at the trade deadline. Zibanejad has 11 goals and 14 assists in 54 games this season, but fantasy owners should look for better options unless he makes it back into the top six.

Sens' Zibanejad Clicks With New Linemates

News: Mika Zibanejad notched a pair of assists and went plus-2 in Tuesday's 5-4 shootout win over the Blues.
Analysis: He assisted on goals by new linemates Milan Michalek and Jason Spezza in his second game since being promoted to the Sens' second line. Mika Zibanejad has been a highly inconsistent contributor thus far in his young career, so it's not yet safe to say that this is the start of a trend. As a former sixth overall pick, though, he's well worth monitoring.

Sens' Zibanejad Promoted To Top Six

News: Mika Zibanejad is expected to play on the second line Monday against the Penguins.
Analysis: Mika Zibanejad has carved out a permanent spot in the lineup for himself over the past month, and now he'll see his ice time rise. He'll skate alongside Jason Spezza and Milan Michalek as he tries to add to his current line of 11 goals and 10 assists in 45 games.

Sens' Zibanejad Warming Up?

News: Mika Zibanejad had a goal and an assist in Thursday's 4-3 victory over Winnipeg.
Analysis: Going unnoticed will likely be the four shots on goal, four hits and two takeaways, despite logging just 15 minutes of total ice time. Mika Zibanejad, who has nine goals and seven assists on the season, has three points (two goals) and nine shots in his last two games.

News: Mika Zibanejad (illness) returned to the lineup Friday against the Bruins.
Analysis: Mika Zibanejad had missed the previous two games with the illness, but was able to recover over the Christmas break. He skated 13:16 TOI on Friday, and recorded a minus-1 rating. He skated on the fourth line, but could jump back up to a top-six role as he gets back into shape.

News: Mika Zibanejad (upper body) was a participant at Monday's morning skate, Wayne Scanlan of the Ottawa Citizen reports.

Sens' Zibanejad Absent From Practice

News: Mika Zibanejad (upper body) was not present during Saturday's practice, Wayne Scanlan of the Ottawa Citizen reports.
Analysis: Mika Zibanejad left Thursday's game with the upper-body injury, which could be related to his neck. The Senators haven't provided an update on the extent of the injury, keeping his status for Saturday's game vs. the Coyotes in question.
