Sens' Zibanejad Taken To Hospital

News: Mika Zibanejad left Thursday's game and was taken to the hospital for what coach Paul MacLean called "precautionary reasons", Senators Extra reports.
Analysis: With just two games remaining and the playoffs no longer a possibility, the Sens will likely take a cautious approach with Mika Zibanejad's injury/illness, whatever it may be.

Zibanejad Busy In Sens' Loss

News: Mika Zibanejad grabbed a goal and an assist in Friday's 7-4 loss to Montreal. The goal was his second in the last three games he's played.
Analysis: Mika Zibanejad skipped Tuesday's game against Florida but did return on Wednesday against the Islanders. He's shown the ability to play alongside newly acquired winger Ales Hemsky and will be a large part of Ottawa's future. He's worth a look in deeper leagues in the season's final week, just don't expect huge numbers.

Sens' Zibanejad Will Play Friday

News: Mika Zibanejad (upper body) will play Friday against the Blackhawks, TSN's Brent Wallace reports.
Analysis: Mika Zibanejad was a surprise scratch with the injury Tuesday against the Panthers, but his availability for Friday's contest indicates his ailment was of the minor variety. The 20-year-old has 27 points in 61 games this season.

Sens' Zibanejad Sits Tuesday With Injury

News: Mika Zibanejad sat out Tuesday's game against the Panthers with an upper-body ailment, Don Brennan of the Ottawa Sun reports.
Analysis: The Senators didn't provide too much clarity on the matter, but Mika Zibanejad presumably sustained the injury in Monday's win over the Lightning. He was replaced in Tuesday's lineup by Matt Kassian.

Zibanejad Scores Lone Sens Goal In Loss

News: Mika Zibanejad blasted his 12th goal of the season past the Avs' Semyon Varlamov. It was Ottawa's only tally in a 3-1 loss Sunday.
Analysis: Mika Zibanejad one-timed a perfect Erik Karlsson pass from the point - his first goal in 15 games - past Varlamov, who was caught deep in his net. Unfortunately for the Senators, the only purpose the shutout-snapping goal served was pride-related, as it came with just six seconds left in the game. The 20-year-old Swede now has 12 goals, 14 assists, a minus-12 rating and 16 PIM while averaging 14:17 of ice term per-game in 57 games this season. In otherwards, he's not yet playing to his lofty 2011 sixth-overall pick status and you should look elsewhere for now.

Sens' Zibanejad Centering Fourth Line

News: Mika Zibanejad is expected to center the fourth line Monday against the Predators, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports.
Analysis: Mika Zibanejad was getting some opportunities to play wing alongside Jason Spezza earlier in the season, but was moved back to center with the addition of Ales Hemsky at the trade deadline. Zibanejad has 11 goals and 14 assists in 54 games this season, but fantasy owners should look for better options unless he makes it back into the top six.

Sens' Zibanejad Clicks With New Linemates

News: Mika Zibanejad notched a pair of assists and went plus-2 in Tuesday's 5-4 shootout win over the Blues.
Analysis: He assisted on goals by new linemates Milan Michalek and Jason Spezza in his second game since being promoted to the Sens' second line. Mika Zibanejad has been a highly inconsistent contributor thus far in his young career, so it's not yet safe to say that this is the start of a trend. As a former sixth overall pick, though, he's well worth monitoring.

Sens' Zibanejad Promoted To Top Six

News: Mika Zibanejad is expected to play on the second line Monday against the Penguins.
Analysis: Mika Zibanejad has carved out a permanent spot in the lineup for himself over the past month, and now he'll see his ice time rise. He'll skate alongside Jason Spezza and Milan Michalek as he tries to add to his current line of 11 goals and 10 assists in 45 games.

Sens' Zibanejad Warming Up?

News: Mika Zibanejad had a goal and an assist in Thursday's 4-3 victory over Winnipeg.
Analysis: Going unnoticed will likely be the four shots on goal, four hits and two takeaways, despite logging just 15 minutes of total ice time. Mika Zibanejad, who has nine goals and seven assists on the season, has three points (two goals) and nine shots in his last two games.

Analysis: Mika Zibanejad had missed the previous two games with the illness, but was able to recover over the Christmas break. He skated 13:16 TOI on Friday, and recorded a minus-1 rating. He skated on the fourth line, but could jump back up to a top-six role as he gets back into shape.

News: Mika Zibanejad (upper body) was a participant at Monday's morning skate, Wayne Scanlan of the Ottawa Citizen reports.
Analysis: Mika Zibanejad first suffered the injury Thursday against the Panthers and was held out of the Sens' most recent contest Saturday. Coach Paul MacLean should update the forward's status for Monday against the Penguins when he meets with the press after morning skate.

News: Mika Zibanejad (upper body) was not present during Saturday's practice, Wayne Scanlan of the Ottawa Citizen reports.
Analysis: Mika Zibanejad left Thursday's game with the upper-body injury, which could be related to his neck. The Senators haven't provided an update on the extent of the injury, keeping his status for Saturday's game vs. the Coyotes in question.

Sens' Zibanejad On Second Line

News: Mika Zibanejad is back in the top six, Wayne Scanlan of the Ottawa Citizen reports.
Analysis: Mika Zibanejad has played well this season, especially when he has some talented players on his line with him. That will certainly be the case if he is in fact on the second line with Kyle Turris and Bobby Ryan on Wednesday against the Devils. The forward has eight goals and six assists in 27 games this season.

Sens' Zibanejad Centering Third Line

News: Mika Zibanejad is expected to center the second line between Cory Conacher and Milan Michalek against the Lightning on Thursday.
Analysis: Mika Zibanejad saw some top-6 time for a few games recently, but the struggling Senators are putting the lines in a blender to try to find some useful combinations. With six points in his last seven games, Zibanejad will look to keep rolling against former teammate Ben Bishop, who will be in net for the Bolts.

Sens Move Zibanejad Into Top Six

News: Mika Zibanejad is expected to play on the second line moving forward, Ken Warren of the Ottawa Citizen reports.
Analysis: Cory Conacher has been a disappointment so far, so Mika Zibanejad has been promoted to play alongside Jason Spezza and Milan Michalek. After unexpectedly starting the season with AHL Binghamton, Zibanejad has been on fire since being called up, registering two goals and five assists in just six games.

Sens' Zibanejad Has Goal And Assist In Loss

News: Mika Zibanejad paced the Senators with a goal and assist in Wednesday's loss to the Wild.
Analysis: Mika Zibanejad was able to fire off four shots despite only 12:14 as a fourth-liner. When given the opportunity, Zibanejad has shown glimpses of why he was selected with the sixth overall pick in the 2011 Entry Draft, but he'll need a move to a top-six role to truly catalyze his scoring.

Sens' Zibanejad Pots Goal In Win

News: Mika Zibanejad scored his fourth goal of the season in Saturday's win over the Panthers.
Analysis: Though Mika Zibanejad's goal was officially unassisted, he did get some help from the opposition on this one. Zibanejad gathered the puck on a poor clearance attempt, then fired a shot from behind the net that banked off the Panthers' Erik Gudbranson and bounced into the net. The 20-year-old doesn't often skate big minutes for the Senators, but he's made the most of his ice time with five points in eight games.

News: Mika Zibanejad was recalled by the Senators on Tuesday, Wayne Scanlan of the Ottawa Citizen reports.
Analysis: Mika Zibanejad started the season with AHL Binghamton and has had a productive beginning to the year, notching two goals and five assists in six games. He'll provide some scoring depth for the Senators after posting a 20-point season with the team last season in 42 games.

Sens Won't Recall Zibanejad

News: The Senators are not planning on recalling Mika Zibanejad at this point in the season, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports.
Analysis: Mika Zibanejad was the first name to come up Thursday when the team placed Stephane Da Costa on waivers, but apparently he won't be the one getting the call-up. Zibanejad was originally expected to make the team out of training camp, but didn't perform well, and the team wanted to send a message to the young center. He'll likely be up with the big club at some point this year, just not quite yet.
