Canucks' Baertschi Could Fill In For Burrows

News: With Alex Burrows out for Tuesday's Game 4 against Calgary, Sven Baertschi appears poised to make his NHL playoff debut.
Analysis: The 22-year-old was recalled from AHL Utica earlier Tuesday, and with Burrows out, Sven Baertschi is now a candidate to suit up against the team that dealt him to the Canucks on March 2. Baertschi, who notched four helpers in 15 games for Calgary prior to the deal, recorded two goals in three regular season games for Vancouver.

Canucks' Baertschi Not Expected To Play

News: Sven Baertschi, who was recalled from AHL Utica on Tuesday, will likely be a healthy scratch for Tuesday's Game 4 against the Flames, TSN 1040 AM's Matthew Sekeres reports.
Analysis: It seems Sven Baertschi was recalled as insurance for Alex Burrows, who is expected to play through an undisclosed injury suffered during Tuesday's morning skate. If Burrows takes a turn for the worse and can't suit up, Baertschi could join the lineup.

Canucks Recall Baertschi

News: Sven Baertschi was recalled from AHL Utica on Tuesday.
Analysis: Sven Baertschi, who notched two goals in three games with Vancouver this past season after arriving in a trade with Calgary in March, will bolster the Canucks' depth up front in advance of Tuesday's Game 4 against the Flames.

Canucks Send Baertschi To AHL

News: Sven Baertschi was assigned to AHL Utica on Sunday, the Province reports.
Analysis: Sven Baertschi -- who notched two goals in Saturday's win over the Oilers -- heads back to the AHL for now, which hints that some combo of Shawn Matthias, Zack Kassian and Brad Richardson figures to be available for the Canucks' playoff opener on Wednesday.

Canucks' Baertschi Strikes Twice In Win

News: Sven Baertschi scored his first two goals in a Vancouver uniform in Saturday's win over the Oilers.
Analysis: Sven Baertschi has just played two games with the Canucks this season, but he's already making a good first impression. After putting up just 26 points in 66 games with the Flames, the 22-year-old was in need of a change of scenery. He's got some great offensive potential, but it's unknown if the youngster will be in the lineup for Game 1 of the playoffs against his former team Wednesday.

Canucks' Baertschi Recalled From AHL Utica

News: Sven Baertschi was recalled from AHL Utica on Friday.
Analysis: Sven Baertschi, who was traded from the Flames to the Canucks in March, will get his first chance in the NHL with his new organization. He has 13 points in 12 games for AHL Utica since the trade, but he only has 28 points through 66 career NHL games.

Flames Deal Baertschi To Canucks For Pick

News: Sven Baertschi was traded to the Canucks on Monday in exchange for a 2015 second-round pick, TSN's Bob McKenzie reports.
Analysis: A former first-round selection by the Flames in 2011, Sven Baertschi made the NHL squad out of training camp in 2013-14 but wasn't able to maintain a spot after tallying 11 points over 26 games. He failed to break camp with the Flames this season and didn't make much of his opportunity when injuries resulted in his promotion to the big club. His pedigree still made him intriguing to many organizations, so the Flames decided to part with him before his value completely bottomed out. Still only 22 years old, Baertschi could unlock his full potential with the move to the Canucks, though he'll likely have to prove himself at AHL Utica first.

Flames' Baertschi Reassigned To Minors

News: Sven Baertschi was reassigned to AHL Adirondack on Thursday, Scott Cruickshank of the Calgary Herald reports.
Analysis: Sven Baertschi had appeared in just one of the Flames' five games since his Jan. 26 call-up. With Curtis Glencross due to return next week, Baertschi's chances of finding ice time would have grown even more scarce. Moving the winger to the minors will allow him to see more consistent duty.

Flames Recall Baertschi

News: The Flames have recalled Sven Baertschi from AHL Adirondack, the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Sven Baertschi -- who was sent to Adirondack (where he has recorded 17 points in 28 games) back in December -- has notched three helpers in 14 games with the big club to date. He'll bolster the Flames' depth at left wing following the team's return from the NHL's All-Star break.

Flames Reassign Baertschi

News: Sven Baertschi was reassigned to AHL Adirondback on Tuesday, NHL.com's Aaron Vickers reports.
Analysis: Sven Baertschi's demotion paves the way for Mason Raymond (upper body) to rejoin the lineup after an extended absence. The young winger seemed to perform more effectively during his latest stint with the Flames, but with only three points over 14 games, it was hard for the suddenly-healthy squad to keep him in the fold.

Flames' Baertschi Returns With Two Helpers

News: Sven Baertschi set up both of Paul Byron's goals and went plus-1 despite skating just 10:12 in Thursday's win over the Coyotes.
Analysis: Thin ice time for Sven Baertschi, who was making his return from an illness that'd kept him out of Monday's game, but he made the most of it, as these were his first points of the year. The 13th overall pick in 2011, Baertschi has a ton of offensive upside, but has been slow to realize it.

Flames' Baertschi Will Play On Thursday

News: Sven Baertschi (illness) will return to the Calgary lineup for their game on Thursday against the Coyotes, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 reports.
Analysis: Sven Baertschi has missed a good portion of the season already with a groin injury and now this recent illness. The 22-year-old winger has struggled in his first four seasons with the Flames and his first four games of this season haven't gone much better. He has failed to register a point and is sitting on a minus-4 rating.

Flames' Baertschi Won't Play Monday

News: Sven Baertschi will not play Monday against the Hurricanes due to an illness.
Analysis: Sven Baertschi is dealing with a virus that will keep him out of Monday's game, so Max Reinhart will step in at center to replace him in the lineup.

Flames' Baertschi Finishes Minus-3 In Win

News: Sven Baertschi finished with no points and a minus-3 rating in Saturday's 6-4 win over the Panthers.
Analysis: On an afternoon in which seemingly every Calgary skater found the scoresheet, Sven Baertschi did more harm than good in his 7:10 of ice time. In his four games since his Nov. 2 call-up, Baertschi has failed to tally a single point, a troubling development considering that the opportunities have generally been plentiful for a potent Flames attack. If he doesn't start producing quickly, Baertschi could find himself headed back to AHL Adirondack before long.

Flames Recall Baertschi

News: Sven Baertschi was recalled from AHL Adirondack on Sunday.
Analysis: Sven Baertschi has three assists and six penalty minutes in ten games with AHL Adirondack this season, and will now add some depth to the Flames' forwards. The 2011 first-round pick will replace Joe Colborne on the roster, who was placed on injured reserve Sunday.

Baertschi Sent Down To AHL

News: Sven Baertschi was reassigned to AHL Adirondack on Sunday.
Analysis: Sven Baertschi, once the most prized prospect in the organization, has spent most of the last year in the AHL and appears to be doing the same in 2014-15. He also is in GM Brian Burke's doghouse often, which doesn't bode well for his future in Calgary.

Flames' Baertschi Dealing With Illness

News: Sven Baertschi was scratched from the lineup for Sunday's exhibition game due to an illness, Aaron Vickers of NHL.com reports.
Analysis: Sven Baertschi, who is competing for a spot on the Flames' opening night roster, should be considered day-to-day with the illness.

Flames Demote Baertschi To AHL

News: The Flames assigned Sven Baertschi to AHL Abbotsford on Thursday.
Analysis: Sven Baertschi has played the entire season in Calgary so far, but will spend some time in Abbotsford after registering two goals and nine assists in 26 games with the Flames.

Flames' Baertschi Notches Assist In Loss

News: Sven Baertschi assisted on the Flames' lone goal in a 2-1 loss to the Bruins on Tuesday.
Analysis: Sven Baertschi has been a little more consistent as of late, avoiding the healthy scratch and tallying two points in his last three games. While he's not yet the world-beater he's been expected to be, keep in mind he's still only 21 and has a lot of good years ahead of him.

Flames' Baertschi Scores Goal In Win

News: Sven Baertschi scored his second goal of the season as the Flames beat the Panthers, 4-3 on Friday.
Analysis: Sven Baertschi found the net on a second period power play to put the Flames ahead, 2-1. The 21-year-old now has four points in his last five games after coming off a five-game scoreless streak and a slew of healthy scratches. He appears to be back on track finally.

Flames' Baertschi Tallies Assist

News: Sven Baertschi snapped a five-game scoreless streak with an assist in a 7-3 loss to the Stars on Thursday.
Analysis: That scoreless streak didn't include the multiple healthy scratches Sven Baertschi had, so hopefully Thursday will be a confidence-builder. Baertschi is still young and raw, and until he starts playing a more complete game, he's not going to get the necessary minutes to show his scoring potential on a night-to-night basis.

Flames' Baertschi Scratched Again Thursday

News: Sven Baertschi will be scratched for the second consecutive game Thursday vs. the Blues, Kristen Odland of the Calgary Herald reports.
Analysis: Sven Baertschi expressed his displeasure with Flames coach Bob Hartley's decision, but the 21-year-old still needs to refine some areas of his game in order to log consistent minutes at the NHL level. Though his future remains incredibly bright, it's looking less likely that a breakout performance will occur this season.

Flames' Baertschi Scratched Again

News: Sven Baertschi was scratched Tuesday for the second time in five games.
Analysis: Sven Baertschi has all the talent in the world, but at 21, is still learning all the facets of the NHL game. He may be a solid fantasy contributor in the future, but that time doesn't appear to be now.

Flames' Baertschi To Play Saturday

News: Coach Bob Hartley confirmed Sven Baertschi would be back in the lineup Saturday against the Capitals, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 The Fan reports.
Analysis: Sven Baertschi was scratched Thursday on the heels of a string of unproductive performances, but he'll be more or less entrenched with a regular spot in the Flames' lineup moving forward. He has four points through nine games thus far.

Flames' Baertschi Healthy Scratched Thursday

News: Sven Baertschi will be a healthy scratch Thursday against the Stars, Calgary Herald's Scott Cruickshank reports.
Analysis: The youthful Sven Baertschi has been solid this season, with four points and a minus-1 rating through nine games, but coach Bob Hartley will keep him on the bench Thursday with his play slipping a little of late. It should just be a temporary absence for Baertschi, but owners in daily leagues will want to keep him out of their lineups for the night.
