Corrado Re-Signs With Vancouver

News: Frank Corrado signed a one-year (two-way) contract with the Canucks on Friday that will pay him $700,000 at the NHL level.
Analysis: Frank Corrado only played in 10 games with the Canucks last season, managing to register a single goal over that span. He will compete with Matt Bartkowski and Adam Clendening for the sixth spot in the Canucks' top-six defender group in training camp. If he isn't able to secure that role with the big club, he will start the season with AHL Utica, and will be one of the first players Vancouver turns to in case of injury or poor performance.

Canucks' Corrado Sent To Minors

News: Frank Corrado was reassigned to AHL Utica on Thursday, Jeff Paterson of TSN 1040 AM reports.
Analysis: The Canucks wanted Frank Corrado to pick up some more consistent ice time after he was a healthy scratch in four of the team's last six games. With the Canucks' blue line now back to full strength with the return of Kevin Bieksa (hand) from injury, Corrado might not have an opportunity to rejoin the parent club again this season.

Canucks Recall Corrado

News: Frank Corrado was recalled from AHL Utica and will play Tuesday against the Sharks, Elliott Pap of the Vancouver Sun reports.
Analysis: The Canucks reassigned Frank Corrado to Utica following Sunday's game against the Blues with the hope that one of the team's other injured blueliners would be able to return for Tuesday's contest, but that apparently wasn't the case. As a result, Corrado will appear in his first game with the Canucks since Feb. 1, assuming the since-demoted Alex Biega's spot in the lineup.

Canucks Activate, Reassign Corrado

News: Frank Corrado (upper body) was activated from injured reserve ahead of Sunday's game against the Blues, only to be reassigned to AHL Utica after the game.
Analysis: Frank Corrado, who had been out since Feb. 1 with an illness and the upper-body injury, was cleared to return to action Sunday, but served as a healthy scratch in the Canucks' shootout victory. He'll head to Utica for some regular ice time, but will be on the short list of call-ups on defense when the next injury arises in Vancouver.

Canucks' Corrado Could Be Back Sunday

News: Frank Corrado (upper body) was a full participant in Saturday's practice and suggested he would be ready to play Sunday against the Blues if needed, Elliott Pap of the Vancouver Sun reports.
Analysis: Frank Corrado hasn't appeared in a game since Feb. 1, when an illness followed by the upper-body injury kept him out of commission. He didn't show any visible limitations during Saturday's session, as he skated as part of a regular defensive pairing with Adam Clendening. Coach Willie Desjardins will likely wait until Sunday morning to reassess Corrado's condition, along with his availability for the game later that evening.

Canucks' Corrado Out 2-3 Weeks

News: Frank Corrado is dealing with an upper-body injury and will miss the next 2-to-3 weeks, Brad Ziemer of the Vancouver Sun reports.
Analysis: Frank Corrado first missed action last week with what was believed to be an illness, but it turns out he was nursing an issue much more significant than that. The young blueliner had became a fixture in the lineup last month when Kevin Bieksa fractured his left hand, tallying his first NHL goal on Jan. 20. With Corrado looking at a late-February return in a best-case scenario, he might not have a lineup spot waiting for him once he returns to full health.

Canucks Place Corrado On IR

News: Frank Corrado (illness) was moved to injured reserve Wednesday.
Analysis: Coach Willie Desjardins indicated a few days ago that Frank Corrado would be "out a while," so his placement on IR doesn't come as a major shock. Since he hasn't played in a game in more than seven days, Corrado will be eligible to return to action as soon as he's over the illness.

Canucks' Corrado 'Out A While' With Illness

News: Coach Willie Desjardins said Saturday that Frank Corrado (illness) would be "out a while," Elliott Pap of the Vancouver Sun reports.
Analysis: Frank Corrado will miss his third straight game Saturday against the Penguins and has yet to resume skating. It would seem he's not progressing from the illness as quick as the Canucks anticipated, which could prompt the team to place him on IR in the near future if an extra roster spot is needed.

Canucks' Corrado Still Out Thursday

News: Frank Corrado (illness) will remain out of the lineup Thursday against the Sharks, Elliott Pap of the Vancouver Sun reports.
Analysis: Frank Corrado, who missed Tuesday's game with an illness, remained off the ice for Thursday's morning skate. It would seem he's still feeling sick and needs further time to regain injury, but he could be a lineup option over the weekend against the Penguins.

Canucks' Corrado Out With Illness Tuesday

News: Frank Corrado is dealing with an illness and will not play Tuesday against the Jets, Elliott Pap of the Vancouver Sun reports.
Analysis: Frank Corrado missed Monday's practice with the illness and doesn't appear to have made enough progress with his recovery to give it a go Tuesday. He was forced out of the team's gameday skate early, but his presence on the ice at least suggests he's day-to-day with the illness. Ryan Stanton will assume Corrado's spot in the lineup.

Canucks' Corrado Scores First Goal

News: Frank Corrado scored the first goal of his career Tuesday, accounting for the whole of the Vancouver offense in a 4-1 loss to the Lightning.
Analysis: The 21-year-old has never been much of a scorer, with just 25 points in his last 80 games at the AHL level, so don't get too excited here. As he hasn't yet shown himself to be a terrifically physical defender either, there's not a whole ton of upside to Frank Corrado for fantasy purposes.

Canucks' Corrado Returns To Game

News: Frank Corrado was able to return to Friday's contest against the Hurricanes after heading to the team's locker room in the second period, Brad Ziemer of the Vancouver Sun reports.
Analysis: It appears as though Frank Corrado just needed to get a cut on his face stitched up in the Canucks' locker room before returning to the game.

Canucks' Corrado Heads To Locker Room

News: Frank Corrado headed to the Canucks' locker room in the second period of Friday's contest against the Hurricanes, Brad Ziemer of the Vancouver Sun reports.
Analysis: Frank Corrado appeared to leave the ice with a cut on his face. It is unclear at this point in time if he'll be able to return to Friday's game.

Canucks Recall Corrado

News: Frank Corrado was recalled from AHL Utica on Wednesday.
Analysis: Frank Corrado is set to serve as the Canucks' seventh defenseman, replacing Bobby Sanguinetti in that role. The 21-year-old has eight points and 17 PIM over his 21 games with Utica this season.

Canucks Reassign Corrado

News: Frank Corrado was reassigned to AHL Utica on Wednesday.
Analysis: After the Canucks' seven-game road trip came to an end Tuesday, Frank Corrado will no longer be needed to serve as insurance on defense. Vancouver didn't use Corrado for a single game during the trip.

Canucks Recall Corrado

News: Frank Corrado was recalled from AHL Utica on Friday, Ben Kuzma of the Vancouver Province reports.
Analysis: Dan Hamhuis suffered an injury to his right leg Thursday against the Ducks, and with his availability in question for Sunday's game against the Blackhawks, Frank Corrado was brought in as insurance. Corrado had three points in 11 games with Utica.

Canucks Assign Corrado To Minors

News: Frank Corrado was assigned to AHL Utica on Thursday, Jason Botchford of the Vancouver Province reports.
Analysis: Frank Corrado has been a healthy scratch for every game since joining Vancouver on Oct. 18, so the organization simply wants him to head to the minors to get some more ice time. Once he gets a few games in with Utica, expect the Canucks to bring him back aboard as their seventh defenseman.

Canucks Recall Corrado

News: Frank Corrado was recalled from AHL Utica on Saturday, Ben Kuzma of the Vancouver Province reports.
Analysis: He'll function as the Canucks' seventh defenseman Saturday against the Bolts, with Ryan Stanton (lower body) deemed unavailable. As soon as the Canucks are confident Stanton has put the injury behind him, Frank Corrado will likely head back to the minors.

Canucks Assign Corrado To AHL Utica

News: The Canucks assigned Frank Corrado to AHL Utica on Friday.
Analysis: If the young defender performs well for Utica he could very well end up on the Canucks' roster at some point during the season. However, until then, Frank Corrado holds little fantasy value.

Vancouver's Corrado (Upper Body) Still Not Healthy

News: Frank Corrado (upper body) is still about five or six days away from being healthy enough to play, the Vancouver Province's Jason Botchford reports.
Analysis: The Canucks have not yet decided whether Frank Corrado will start the year in Vancouver or the AHL, but the fact that he likely won't be ready for the Oct. 8 regular-season opener probably does not help his chances.

Canucks' Corrado Injures Upper Body

News: Frank Corrado suffered an upper body injury during Monday's exhibition game and was forced to leave in the second period, Ben Kuzma of the Vancouver Province reports.
Analysis: The severity of the injury is still unknown but there was no reason to force Frank Corrado into preseason action if any sort of risk was involved. His status will likely be updated before a decision is made on whether or not he'll make Vancouver's roster to start the season.

Canucks Reassign Corrado

News: The Canucks reassigned Frank Corrado to AHL Utica on Monday.

Canucks' Corrado Scores First Career Goal

News: Frank Corrado wired a slap shot from the right point past Karri Ramo on Sunday against Calgary for his first career goal.
Analysis: It took 18 games for Frank Corrado to score his first, but what a rocket of a shot it was. An unassisted goal scored in the second period, Corrado's howitzer put the Canucks up 3-0 in their season finale. After an uneven start to his NHL career, Corrado looks more comfortable by the game. He will fight for a roster spot next year.

Canucks' Corrado Will Play Final Three Games

News: Frank Corrado will play in the final three games of the season, including Thursday's tilt with the Avalanche, TSN's Farhan Lalji reports.
Analysis: The rookie is expected to see decent minutes for Vancouver, including power-play time. With the Canucks officially eliminated from playoff contention, this is a chance for the 21-year-old to gain more experience at the NHL level. He is yet to record a point in 12 games with the Canucks this season, going minus-4 in that span.

Canucks' Corrado Will Sit Monday

News: Frank Corrado will be a healthy scratch Monday against the Ducks, the Vancouver Province reports.
Analysis: The rookie will be replaced in the lineup by Yannick Weber, who is feeling well enough to return from an undisclosed injury. There's been no official word on Frank Corrado yet, but there is a good chance he'll return to AHL Utica to get more playing time as long as Weber is healthy.
