Coyotes' Domingue Bound For Europe In 2015-16

News: Louis Domingue will head to Europe for the 2015-16 season after opting not to sign his two-way qualifying offer with the Coyotes, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.
Analysis: With the Coyotes adding Anders Lindback to presumably serve as the backup to starter Mike Smith next season, Louis Domingue determined that playing overseas would be preferable to spending another year in the minors. The Coyotes will still retain his rights for the next four years, and with Lindback set to become a free agent next summer, it's quite possible that Domingue will be brought back in as one of Arizona's two goalies in 2016-17. The 23-year-old fared reasonably well in limited duty with the parent club last season, going 1-2-1 with a 2.73 GAA and .911 save percentage over seven appearances.

Coyotes' Domingue Reassigned To AHL

News: Louis Domingue was reassigned to AHL Portland on Monday.
Analysis: Louis Domingue and a few other players were optioned to Portland on Monday now that the Coyotes' season has come to an end. The goalie has a good chance to man the net during his current stint in Portland but will end his NHL rookie campaign after seven total appearances, finishing with a .911 save percentage and a 2.73 GAA.

Coyotes' Domingue Allows One Goal In Relief

News: Louis Domingue stopped seven of the eight shots he faced in relief of Mike Smith on Thursday in a 5-0 loss to the Canucks.
Analysis: Louis Domingue has struggled a bit in his brief exposure at the NHL level this year posting a .911 save percentage and 2.73 goals against in seven games. Even with the Coyotes rebuilding, Mike Smith will probably be the team's starter, so Domingue will have more time to develop either as Smith's backup or back in the AHL in 2015-16.

Yotes' Domingue Makes 34 Saves In Loss

News: Louis Domingue stopped 34 of 37 shots but it wasn't enough as the Coyotes fell 3-1 to San Jose on Friday.
Analysis: Louis Domingue was making his fourth start of his career as veteran Mike Smith is tabbed for Saturday's tilt with the same Sharks team. He played well, but ultimately didn't receive enough goal support and failed to earn his second career win. It's unclear at this point whether Domingue will get the nod in any of Arizona's three remaining games after Saturday.

Coyotes Go With Domingue On Friday

News: Louis Domingue will receive the start in goal Friday against the Sharks.
Analysis: Regular netminder Mike Smith will return to the crease when the Coyotes and Sharks meet up in Arizona for the second half of a back-to-back Saturday. Louis Domingue has played competently in five games with a 1-1-1 record, 2.64 GAA, and .912 save percentage, but it's difficult to roll him with much confidence given the weak supporting cast that surrounds him.

Coyotes' Domingue Could Start This Weekend

News: Louis Domingue could start one of the games in an upcoming back-to-back against the Sharks on Friday and Saturday, The Arizona Republic reports.
Analysis: While the Coyotes have yet to name a starter for either game, Louis Domingue and Mike Smith will likely split up the two contests. The rookie is 1-1-1 through three starts this season, with a 2.65 GAA and .912 save percentage.

'Yotes Turn To Domingue On Thursday

News: Louis Domingue will be in the crease for Thursday's game against the Avalanche.
Analysis: Since Devan Dubnyk was traded to Minnesota in January, Mike Smith has been forced to bear the brunt of the workload in goal, but he'll get a rest Thursday while Louis Domingue steps in. Despite his limited experience, Domingue has performed admirably over his four NHL appearances this season, going 1-0-1 with a 2.14 GAA and .929 save percentage. Even so, that sample is too small to project continued excellence from the 23-year-old, especially while he plays with a squad that's woefully short on high-end talent. With opposing netminder Semyon Varlamov on fire right now, Domingue will stand little chance of stealing a win Thursday.

Coyotes' Domingue Ineffective In Loss

News: Louis Domingue gave up four goals on 28 shots Thursday in a 5-2 loss to Colorado.
Analysis: Hey, at least that fifth one went into an empty net. This marks the first regulation loss in five appearances (four starts) for Louis Domingue, who'd been surprisingly effective in his occasional action as Mike Smith's backup. But with his mediocre-at-best AHL numbers, the 23-year-old doesn't look like he's truly ready for prime time. If he wants to be the Coyotes' goalie of the future, we'll need to see more.

Yotes' Domingue Makes 38 Saves In Losing Effort

News: Louis Domingue put up a good fight against Nashville on Monday -- stopping 38 of 40 shots -- but it wasn't enough as the Coyotes fell 2-1 in overtime.
Analysis: Louis Domingue was a force against one of the league's top teams in his second career start, and would have had a crack at taking on Pekka Rinne in the shootout if not for James Neal's overtime winner midway through the extra frame. With the Coyotes light years out of a playoff spot, the team could elect to roll with Domingue again here in the near future to see what they've got in the 2010 fifth-round pick, although it'd be tough to recommend a spot start given the anemic offense in front of him.

Coyotes Turn To Domingue On Monday

News: Louis Domingue is slated to start Monday's game against the Preds, Craig Morgan of FOX Sports Arizona reports.
Analysis: Louis Domingue, who is in line to make his second career NHL start Monday, will take aim at a Preds squad in the midst of a six-game slide.

Coyotes' Domingue Appears In Relief

News: Louis Domingue stopped all 14 shots he faced in relief of starter Mike Smith in Saturday's loss to the Bruins.
Analysis: Smith was pulled midway through the second period after yielding four goals on 20 shots. Though Smith has now lost seven games in a row, the Coyotes are resigned to stick with him as their No. 1 starter for the rest of the way, mostly on the basis of the large extension he received in the summer of 2013. As a consequence, Louis Domingue's starting opportunities should remain minimal during his stay with the parent club.

Coyotes Recall Domingue

News: The Coyotes recalled Louis Domingue from AHL Portland on Thursday, the team's official site reports.
Analysis: In a corresponding move, the Coyotes assigned fellow goalie Mike McKenna to Portland, with Louis Domingue back with the big club to work in tandem with Mike Smith.

Coyotes Assign Domingue To AHL

News: Louis Domingue was assigned to AHL Portland on Monday, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.
Analysis: Louis Domingue had mixed results in his two games with the Coyotes. His first appearance came in relief of Mike Smith in which he allowed two goals on nine shots in his NHL debut. His second outing came as a starter Feb. 1, which went much better with him allowing two goals on 18 shots and he picked up the win. The netminder will head back to AHL Portland for now and await another opportunity to show what he's got at the big league level.

Coyotes's Domingue Picks Up First Win

News: Louis Domingue stopped 18 of 20 shots in Sunday's 3-2 win over the Canadiens.
Analysis: Louis Domingue was good enough to record a win in his first ever NHL start and rebounded well after surrendering both goals in the opening five minutes of the game. It was a decent performance, but he likely won't get too much playing time going forward.

Coyotes Turn To Domingue On Sunday

News: Louis Domingue will receive the start Sunday against the Canadiens, Sarah McLellean of the Arizona Republic reports.
Analysis: Louis Domingue made his NHL debut in relief of Mike Smith in Saturday's game, surrendering two goals on 11 shots. He will back that up with his first NHL start Sunday against the Canadiens, as he will look for a better performance than the one he posted in his debut.

Coyotes' Domingue Makes Debut Saturday

News: Louis Domingue came on in relief of Mike Smith in the third period of Saturday's game against the Senators, marking his NHL debut. He gave up two goals on 11 shots.
Analysis: Called up prior to the game by the Coyotes, Louis Domingue was thrown into the fire right away and unsurprising looked green, surrendering a goal to Erik Karlsson within his first six minutes of ice time. The Coyotes will play the second game of a back-to-back Sunday afternoon against the Canadiens, but Smith is expected to draw the starting nod after he was able to pick up something of a breather Saturday thanks to his early removal. Domingue will likely be used sparingly during his stay with the parent club.

Coyotes' Domingue Recalled From Minors

News: Louis Domingue was recalled from AHL Portland on Saturday, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.
Analysis: Louis Domingue has made 13 appearances for Portland this season, producing a 8-4-1 record, 2.40 GAA and .922 save percentage. It's unclear if he'll stick around with the Coyotes much further beyond the weekend, but however long the duration of his stay, don't expect him to see much -- if any -- action behind No. 1 twinetender Mike Smith.
