Canucks Reassign Jensen To Utica

News: Nicklas Jensen was reassigned to AHL Utica on Saturday.
Analysis: The returns of injured wingers Radim Vrbata (leg) and Derek Dorsett (undisclosed) on Friday made it unnecessary for Nicklas Jensen to stick around with the Canucks any longer. Jensen, 21, appeared in three games with the NHL squad.

Canucks Recall Jensen

News: Nicklas Jensen was recalled from AHL Utica on Friday, Ben Kuzma of the Vancouver Province reports.

Canucks' Jensen Assigned To AHL Utica

News: Nicklas Jensen was assigned to AHL Utica on Monday.
Analysis: "It's a bit about numbers, I thought he had a really good camp. We want him to play, to get minutes," said coach Willie Desjardins. Nicklas Jensen, who managed three goals and six points in a 17-game stint with the Canucks in 2013-14, will get prime opportunities to succeed with the AHL Comets in 2014-15.

Canucks' Jensen Picks Up Two Points In Loss

News: Nicklas Jensen scored a goal and picked up an assist on a Nick Bonino tally in Tuesday's preseason loss to San Jose.
Analysis: Nicklas Jensen impressed in the Canucks' rookie camp and has now carried that play over into the preseason. The Danish prospect is well on his way to earning a full-time roster spot with the Canucks. Competition is tough this season, however, with fellow prospects Hunter Shinkaruk, Bo Horvat, Brendan Gaunce, and Dane Fox all battling for a coveted roster spot. Jensen needs to continue creating offense if he hopes to play with the big boys this season.

Canucks' Jensen Grabs Assist, But Gets Benched

News: Nicklas Jensen collected an assist during the first period of Thursday's overtime loss to the Avalanche, but was benched for the third period and overtime.
Analysis: The benching resulted in a career-low 9:18 of ice time for the 21-year-old rookie. Even though he picked up an assist, coach John Tortorella was obviously not impressed by the play of Nicklas Jensen on Thursday. The rookie now has three goals and three assists in 10 games since being called up from AHL Utica in early March.

Canucks' Jensen Expected To Play With Sedin Twins

News: Nicklas Jensen is expected to play with the Sedin twins in Sunday's game against the Sabres, the Vancouver Province's Ben Kuzma reports.
Analysis: Nicklas Jensen has been fantastic since being called up from Utica, tallying three goals and two assists in seven games. With Daniel Sedin returning on Sunday after missing nine games with a hamstring injury, the 21-year-old rookie will get a chance to play with two of the best playmakers in the game.

Canucks' Jensen Snipes Game-Winner

News: Nicklas Jensen scored the game-winning goal in Wednesday's win over Nashville, extending his point streak to four games.
Analysis: Nicklas Jensen has been dynamite since being called up from Utica, recording three goals and two assists in seven games. The 21-year-old is worth a look right now, especially considering the fact he is playing on the top line with Alexandre Burrows and Henrik Sedin.

Canucks' Jensen Extends Point Streak

News: Nicklas Jensen extended his point streak to three games on Monday, assisting on an Alexandre Burrows goal in a loss to Tampa Bay.
Analysis: The 21-year-old continues to dazzle since being called up from Utica, tallying four points in his first six NHL games. He is playing on the top line with Henrik Sedin, and logged 21:09 of ice time in Monday's loss. The future is bright for the young rookie.

Canucks' Jensen Scores For Second Straight Game

News: Nicklas Jensen scored for the second straight game in Sunday's win over Florida.
Analysis: Nicklas Jensen has impressed since being called up from Utica, tallying two goals, one assist, and a plus-3 rating in his first five career NHL games. With injuries to Daniel Sedin (hamstring) and Ryan Kesler (knee), the 21-year-old has been playing on the top line. It won't be too long before the youngster becomes a well-known name in fantasy hockey.

Canucks' Jensen Scores First Career NHL Goal

News: Nicklas Jensen scored his first career NHL goal in Friday's loss to Washington.
Analysis: Nicklas Jensen tallied in the third period, beating Capitals' goalie Jaroslav Halak with a deadly wrist shot from the top of the circle. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough, as the Canucks lost for the sixth time in eight games. Jensen now has two points (1G, 1A) in four games since being recalled from Utica. With the Canucks likely to miss the playoffs, there is chance a rebuild will take place in Vancouver, and Jensen is one of a few top prospects who will be counted on moving forward. If the Canucks officially fall out of playoff contention, coach John Tortorella could give more ice time to his rookies, including Jensen. With Daniel Sedin (hamstring) out, Jensen has been playing on the top line, logging 20:19 of ice time against Washington on Friday, including 4:17 on the power play.

Canucks' Jensen Recalled

News: Nicklas Jensen was recalled from AHL Utica by the Canucks on Friday.
Analysis: Nicklas Jensen, the 29th overall pick in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, has 21 goals and seven assists in 77 career AHL games. The Canucks were hoping he'd have an impact at the NHL level this season, but that hasn't exactly panned out, with Jensen spending the entire season in Utica before Friday. Once Zack Kassian returns from a three-game suspension next Friday, Jensen may be sent back to Utica.

Canucks Reassign Jensen

News: The Canucks reassigned Nicklas Jensen (shoulder) to AHL Utica on Wednesday.
Analysis: Nicklas Jensen is still recovering from a shoulder injury, and has yet to play in a game this season. The reassignment will allow him to get some valuable rehab minutes, and if he plays well, he should be recalled quickly.

Canucks' Jensen Two Weeks Away From Returning

News: Utica Comets assistant coach Paul Jerrard says Nicklas Jensen (shoulder) is two weeks away from returning, News 1130 reports.
Analysis: Nicklas Jensen was sent down to the AHL to heal his injury and get back on track. Canucks coach John Tortorella noted he would like Jensen to work his way back up into the NHL. Jensen had a disappointing preseason but could find his way into the lineup at some point this season.

Canucks' Jensen Sent To Minors Temporarily

News: Nicklas Jensen (shoulder) will be sent down to Vancouver's AHL affiliate in Utica, News 1130 reports. His agent, Anton Thun, said the plan is for Jensen to get healthy in the AHL and work his way back up.
Analysis: Nicklas Jensen has failed to impress so far in the preseason but injuries to David Booth and Jordan Schroeder, as well as a suspension to Zack Kassian, could potentially open up a roster spot for Jensen. The plan is for Jensen to get healthy first and then go from there.

Canucks' Jensen Leaves Game With Undisclosed Injury

News: Nicklas Jensen left Saturday's game against the Oilers with an undisclosed injury, Team 1040 reports.
Analysis: Nicklas Jensen wasn't supposed to play Saturday night but was told earlier in the morning he would be playing due to an injury to David Booth. It is an unfortunate injury for Jensen as he tries to make his case to be on the Canucks roster. He has failed to make much of an impact so far in the preseason and only played 0:29 on Saturday before suffering his injury.

Canucks' Jensen Failing to Stand Out

News: Nicklas Jensen has failed to stand out with the Canucks and has been tentative and ineffective, the Vancouver Province reports.
Analysis: The competition for a Canucks roster spot is extremely intense and Nicklas Jensen needs to start making an impact if he wants to stand a chance of making the cut. He's played 25:08 in two preseason games with the team but hasn't registered a shot on goal. Jensen has started both games on the team's fourth line and hasn't had an opportunity to play with any of the team's top stars. Others young players are turning heads and Jensen needs to step it up or else he will get cut.

Jensen Skates On Canucks' Top Line In Debut

News: Nicklas Jensen made his NHL debut Monday against San Jose, skating 24 shifts. He finished minus-1, without a point.
Analysis: Look on the bright side: He landed immediately in hockey's Elysian Fields, as the coaching staff inserted him on the team's top line, alongside the Sedin twins. That slotting may not last, but as long as it does, he'll collect a disproportionate number of points.

Jensen Recalled By Canucks

News: The Canucks have recalled Nicklas Jensen from AHL Chicago, the Vancouver Sun reports.
Analysis: Nicklas Jensen and Bill Sweatt are on their way up to the big club Sunday, while Zack Kassian and Andrew Gordon are headed to the AHL, as the Canucks look to shake things up a bit up front after being shut out by the Oilers on Saturday.

Canucks Assign Jensen To AHL

News: As expected, the Canucks have assigned Nicklas Jensen to Chicago of the AHL.
Analysis: Nicklas Jensen had been playing overseas with AIK of the Swedish Elite League. He totaled 23 points (17 G, 6 A) in 50 games with AIK. The 2011 first-round pick has flashed his skills overseas and at the OHL level in past seasons, but he'll need to prove himself in the AHL before getting a look from the Canucks.

News: With his SEL season completed, Nicklas Jensen will be assigned to Chicago of the AHL, the Vancouver Sun reports.

Canucks' Jensen Heading To AHL Soon

News: Nicklas Jensen is expected to join Chicago of the AHL after the SEL season wraps up, the Vancouver Province reports.
Analysis: Nicklas Jensen's Swedish team is currently battling for the eighth and final seed in the playoffs, so his return to this side of the pond could be delayed a couple weeks. The Canucks are still high on their 2011 first-round draft pick, but Jensen will likely need some seasoning in the AHL before getting a serious look at the NHL level.

Canucks' Jensen Stays Overseas

News: As expected, Nicklas Jensen isn't attending Canucks training camp this season, the Vancouver Province reports.
Analysis: Nicklas Jensen is currently playing for Stockholm AIK of the Swedish Elite League. The Canucks didn't have plans for the 19-year-old winger to make the roster this season, so he was allowed to stay in his homeland. He remains an intriguing prospect in keeper leagues, but owners shouldn't count on Jensen this year.
