Devils' Kinkaid To Start Saturday

News: Keith Kinkaid will start against the Panthers on Saturday, Tom Gulitti of The Bergen Record reports.
Analysis: Cory Schneider received the nod Friday night against Pittsburgh, backstopping the club to an overtime loss. Keith Kinkaid has played well when called upon this season, going 13-7-2 with a 2.19 GAA and .923 save percentage.

Devils' Kinkaid Likely To Start Saturday

News: Keith Kinkaid will likely start Saturday's game against the Panthers, as the Devils will be playing the second game of a back-to-back, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: Cory Schneider will be between the pipes Friday night against the Penguins, and while it's still possible that Schneider gets both starts, the Devils will likely give the nod to Keith Kinkaid on Saturday for the easier of the two matchups.

Devils' Kinkaid Subpar In Relief

News: Keith Kinkaid was lit up for four goals on 25 shots in relief of Corey Schneider -- who left after the first period with an upper-body injury -- in a 5-1 loss to the Ducks on Friday.
Analysis: Keith Kinkaid hasn't inspired any confidence this year as a backup to Schneider, who thankfully appears to have avoided serious injury on what was believed to be a shot off his collarbone that forced his exit. In nine appearances this year, Kinkaid has just one win, posting a .913 save percentage and 2.54 GAA, which has to be frustrating for Devils fans as Schneider leads the league with 40 starts and Kinkaid hasn't been able to provide ample relief when the former Canuck needs a night off. It hasn't mattered much in the standings, though, as the Devils currently sit 14 points out of a playoff spot, making Kinkaid nearly irrelevant in fantasy this season.

Devils' Kindkaid Makes 28 Saves In Loss

News: Keith Kinkaid made 28 saves on 31 shots in Friday's loss to the Islanders.
Analysis: While Keith Kinkaid has managed just one win in his last four appearances, the 25-year-old has played pretty well, stopping 107 of 117 shots in that span (.915 save percentage). While he now owns a 1-2-3 record on the season, Kinkaid still makes for a decent spot start whenever the workhorse Cory Schneider gets the night off.

Devils' Kinkaid Confirmed For Friday

News: Keith Kinkaid has been confirmed as the starting goalie for Friday's game against the Islanders, Rich Chere of the Newark Star-Ledger reports.
Analysis: After Cory Schneider faced 42 shots a night earlier against Boston, the Devils will turn over the crease to Keith Kinkaid in an attempt to rest their top goalie. Kinkaid has been stellar over his seven appearances with the Devils, but his limited NHL track record makes him difficult to count on even as a streaming option. It's probably advisable to steer clear of him against an Islanders squad that isn't short on offensive talent.

Devils' Kinkaid Likely To Start Friday

News: Fellow goalie Cory Schneider indicated he expects Keith Kinkaid to receive the start Friday against the Islanders, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: Keith Kinkaid doesn't receive starts on a consistent basis, but has been solid in net in the seven games he has played for the Devils this season, despite the 1-2-2 record. Over the span, he has respectable numbers outside of the record, posting a 2.01 GAA and .929 save percentage.

Devils' Kinkaid Surrenders Three Goals In Loss

News: Keith Kinkaid gave up three goals on 25 shots in Friday's loss to the Canadiens.
Analysis: While starter Cory Schneider rarely gets the night off, Keith Kinkaid has proven to be a decent fantasy option whenever he gets the call. The 25-year-old backup is now 1-2-2 on the season with an impressive .928 save percentage and 2.01 GAA. Kinkaid boasts strong rate stats, but if you're in search of a backup goalie and desiring wins, you may want to look elsewhere, as the struggling Devils have managed just 13 wins in 40 games.

Devils' Kinkaid To Draw Friday Start

News: Keith Kinkaid will make the start in goal Friday against the Canadiens, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: With the Devils opening 2015 with back-to-back games, Keith Kinkaid will draw the first start while Cory Schneider is saved for Saturday's tilt with the Flyers. The young netminder has fared well in limited duty, going 1-1-2 with a 1.75 GAA and .939 save percentage over six games. It's hard to draw any meaningful conclusions from the small sample, however, so he doesn't quite make for a reliable streaming option against Montreal.

Devils' Kinkaid Records First NHL WIn

News: Keith Kinkaid stood on his head Friday against Tampa Bay, stopping 26 of 28 shots in regulation, before denying all three Bolts' shooters in the shootout for his first NHL win.
Analysis: Keith Kinkaid has been very reliable when called upon this season, posting a 1-1-2 record to go with a .939 save percentage and 1.75 GAA. The 25-year-old has never allowed more than two goals in a game and is proving to be a solid backup behind starter Cory Schneider. While he won't see too much action behind Schneider, Kinkaid is a reliable fantasy option whenever the former Canuck gets the night off.

Devils' Kinkaid To Get Friday Start

News: Keith Kinkaid will be in the crease Friday against the Lightning, Rich Chere of Newark Star-Ledger reports.
Analysis: Coach Pete DeBoer has shown an increased willingness of late to give top goalie Cory Schneider more rest, as Keith Kinkaid will make his second start in three games Friday. It probably helped Kinkaid's cause that he submitted a strong outing in that previous start, holding the Islanders to two goals on 33 shots before falling in the shootout. Even so, he's a far from dependable streaming option against a Lightning squad that ranks second in the NHL in goals per game and ninth in power-play percentage.

Devils' Kinkaid Takes Shootout Loss Monday

News: Keith Kinkaid turned in a great performance Monday, stopping 31 of 33 shots before eventually falling 3-2 in a shootout to the Islanders.
Analysis: Keith Kinkaid looked sharp all night playing in his home state, and even gave the Devils a shot in the shootout with three straight saves, but it wouldn't be enough against the Isles, who chipped away at a 2-0 deficit with goals in the second and third periods. Unfortunately for Kinkaid, he's still winless in his extremely brief NHL career (0-1-2 in three games), but given this outing, the future looks bright for the 25-year-old rookie.

Devils' Kinkaid Starting Monday

News: Keith Kinkaid will start Monday's game against the Islanders, Rich Chere of the Star Ledger reports.
Analysis: Keith Kinkaid will get a rare start as he returns to his hometown of Long Island, but he still doesn't hold much fantasy value, since Cory Schneider will continue to get the majority of the starts as the season rolls on.

Devils' Kinkaid See Relief Action Saturday

News: Keith Kinkaid stopped all three shots he faced in relief of a pulled Cory Schneider Saturday against the Stars.
Analysis: Keith Kinkaid has impressed this season, posting a .943 save percentage and 1.64 GAA in four games played. While he won't see much action behind starter Schneider, backup Kinkaid has proven to be a reliable option whenever he gets the rare start in the Devils' crease.

Devils' Kinkaid Saves 37, But Falls In Shootout

News: Keith Kinkaid stopped 37 of 39 shots through regulation and overtime Tuesday against the Blackhawks, but gave up goals on both shootout attempts against him to end up with the loss.
Analysis: Despite the loss, this was highly impressive work by Keith Kinkaid, who was recalled from AHL Albany earlier in the day, against one of the league's toughest teams. And it's hard to blame him too much for getting beaten by Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane in the shootout -- he's certainly not the first to suffer that fate. Cory Schneider draws most of the starts for the Devils, but Kinkaid's proven reliable at the AHL level and should continue to acquit himself well when he does get his chances.

Devils Call Up Kinkaid, Give Him Tuesday Start

News: Keith Kinkaid was recalled from AHL Albany on Tuesday. He'll receive the start in goal Tuesday versus the Blackhawks, Rich Chere of the Newark Star-Ledger reports.
Analysis: Not only will the Devils replace backup Scott Clemmensen with Keith Kinkaid, but he'll be called upon right away to cover for Cory Schneider, who was forced to make 39 saves in a hard-fought win over the Hurricanes on Monday. It will be the first career NHL start for Kinkaid, who was previously called upon in relief for two games during his previous stints with the parent club. Kinkaid, 25, has been outstanding over his 13 outings with Albany this season, posting a 2.19 GAA and .923 save percentage.

Devils Reassign Kinkaid

News: The Devils reassigned Keith Kinkaid to AHL Albany on Monday, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: The netminder doesn't get much action playing behind Cory Schneider, so he'll head to AHL Albany for more consistent work. Veteran Scott Clemmensen was called up to fill the backup role.

Backup Duty On Tap For Devils' Kinkaid Tuesday

News: Keith Kinkaid will not start Tuesday's game against the Wild, instead serving in his usual backup role, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: It appeared coach Pete DeBoer was leaning toward going with Keith Kinkaid as Tuesday's starter after Cory Schneider took his fourth loss in a row Monday night, but the No. 1 netminder will be back out there for his 16th consecutive start. However, if Schneider struggles early on -- as has been the case recently -- DeBoer likely won't hesitate to give him the early hook and turn to Kinkaid to finish off the night.

Devils' Kinkaid Could Start Tuesday

News: Keith Kinkaid could get his first NHL start Tuesday against the Wild, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: The Devils didn't hold a formal morning skate Tuesday after the team dropped a 4-2 decision to the Bruins on Monday, but as a lightly used backup who didn't play in the game, Keith Kinkaid would typically take part in the morning session. His absence could mean that coach Pete DeBoer is planning on saving him for Tuesday's contest, and if that's the case, it would represent the first time that Cory Schneider hasn't started a game this season. Expect the Devils to confirm their goalie plans for Tuesday night when DeBoer meets with reporters for his 4:45 p.m. EST media availability session.

Devils' Kinkaid Perfect In Relief

News: Keith Kinkaid stopped all six shots he faced in relief of Cory Schneider in Friday's loss to Detroit.
Analysis: For the second straight game, Schneider was pulled, meaning the Devils backup had to step in once again. Considering Schneider has started 14 straight games, it's unlikely Keith Kinkaid starts many games in the future. If the former Canuck continues to struggle, however, Kinkaid could be called upon to give Schneider a rest. Before being called up to the NHL, Kinkaid was dominating with AHL Albany, posting a 4-0-1 record to go with a 1.95 GAA.

Devils' Kinkaid Loses In Relief

News: Keith Kinkaid took the loss in relief Thursday after allowing the game-winning goal to the Blues' David Backes.
Analysis: Cory Schneider was pulled with 12:10 remaining in the third period after allowing his third goal of the night to give the Blues a commanding 3-0 lead, allowing Keith Kinkaid to make his season debut. Kinkaid then watched his mates rise to the occasion with three goals in the final four minutes of the contest to put the Devils back in the game, but the tally he surrendered to Backes proved to be the difference. Kinkaid looked like he might have been a candidate to start Friday against the Red Wings, but coach Pete DeBoer said Schneider would receive the nod after his early yank Thursday.

Devils Recall Kinkaid

News: The Devils recalled Keith Kinkaid from AHL Albany on Tuesday, The Star-Ledger reports.
Analysis: Keith Kinkaid was brought up to fill the backup goalie spot behind Cory Schneider. Kinkaid shined with Albany this season, posting a 1.95 GAA and .931 SV% in six games.

Devils Assign Kinkaid To Minors

News: Keith Kinkaid was assigned to AHL Albany on Saturday, Rich Chere of the Newark Star-Ledger reports.
Analysis: Though Keith Kinkaid came into camp as the favorite to claim backup duties behind Cory Schneider, the Devils brass determined that it wouldn't be beneficial to the 25-year-old to stick around, with Schneider expected to make upwards of 65 starts this season. Instead, veteran goalie Scott Clemmensen will handle the backup duties, with appearances coming his way very sparingly.

Kinkaid, Devils Fall In Shootout

News: Keith Kinkaid allowed two goals on 27 shots in Friday's shootout loss to the Islanders.
Analysis: Keith Kinkaid played all 65 minutes in the contest and stopped John Tavares in the shootout. Kinkaid is battling with Scott Clemmensen for the Devils' backup netminding position. Neither netminder should play more than a handful of games with Cory Schneider expected to play close to 70 games. Don't be surprised to see Kinkaid begin the season in the AHL.

New Jersey Signs Kinkaid

News: The Devils have signed Keith Kinkaid to a one-year, two-way contract, the Record reports.
Analysis: With Martin Brodeur not expected back with the team, Keith Kinkaid -- who went 24-13-5 with a 2.29 GAA and .912 save percentage in 43 games with AHL Albany in 2013-14 -- is in line to serve as New Jersey's backup goalie next season behind Cory Schneider.

Devils' Kinkaid Recovered From Groin Strain

News: Keith Kinkaid (groin strain) returned to practice Wednesday, Tom Gulitti of the Bergen Record reports.
Analysis: The release of Johan Hedberg, who was with AHL Albany on a professional tryout basis, signals that Keith Kinkaid is sufficiently recovered from the injury and will be available if needed for the team's next game.
