Devils Assign Kinkaid To Minors

News: Keith Kinkaid was assigned to AHL Albany on Saturday, Rich Chere of the Newark Star-Ledger reports.
Analysis: Though Keith Kinkaid came into camp as the favorite to claim backup duties behind Cory Schneider, the Devils brass determined that it wouldn't be beneficial to the 25-year-old to stick around, with Schneider expected to make upwards of 65 starts this season. Instead, veteran goalie Scott Clemmensen will handle the backup duties, with appearances coming his way very sparingly.

Kinkaid, Devils Fall In Shootout

News: Keith Kinkaid allowed two goals on 27 shots in Friday's shootout loss to the Islanders.
Analysis: Keith Kinkaid played all 65 minutes in the contest and stopped John Tavares in the shootout. Kinkaid is battling with Scott Clemmensen for the Devils' backup netminding position. Neither netminder should play more than a handful of games with Cory Schneider expected to play close to 70 games. Don't be surprised to see Kinkaid begin the season in the AHL.

New Jersey Signs Kinkaid

News: The Devils have signed Keith Kinkaid to a one-year, two-way contract, the Record reports.
Analysis: With Martin Brodeur not expected back with the team, Keith Kinkaid -- who went 24-13-5 with a 2.29 GAA and .912 save percentage in 43 games with AHL Albany in 2013-14 -- is in line to serve as New Jersey's backup goalie next season behind Cory Schneider.

Devils' Kinkaid Recovered From Groin Strain

News: Keith Kinkaid (groin strain) returned to practice Wednesday, Tom Gulitti of the Bergen Record reports.
Analysis: The release of Johan Hedberg, who was with AHL Albany on a professional tryout basis, signals that Keith Kinkaid is sufficiently recovered from the injury and will be available if needed for the team's next game.

Devils' Kinkaid Nursing Groin Strain

News: Keith Kinkaid is dealing with a groin strain, Tom Gulitti of the Bergen Record reports.
Analysis: Devils GM Lou Lamoriello said that the goalie is day-to-day with the ailment, but it was problematic enough that Albany was moved to sign 40-year-old Johan Hedberg on a tryout basis. He'll fill in as the backup goalie for Albany until Keith Kinkaid is cleared to play again.

Devils Send Kinkaid Back To AHL Albany

News: The Devils sent Keith Kinkaid back to AHL Albany on Sunday, Tom Gulitti of the Bergen Record reports.
Analysis: With Cory Schneider ready to come of injured reserve, Keith Kinkaid's services are no longer needed at the NHL level. He did not receive any work during his short stay with the club, but is obviously ready to be recalled again should the Devils be in need.

Devils To Recall Kinkaid Tuesday

News: Keith Kinkaid will be recalled by the Devils on Tuesday, Tom Gulitti of the Bergen Record reports.
Analysis: Keith Kinkaid was sent down Sunday and due to a 48-hour rule of transactions in the NHL, his move back up will not be official until Tuesday. Cory Schneider (lower-body) was placed on IR on Monday and will miss one more game, allowing Kinkaid to be recalled as goalie depth.

Devils' Kinkaid Sent Back To Albany

News: Keith Kinkaid was returned to AHL Albany on Sunday after his emergency call-up.
Analysis: The Devils needed Keith Kinkaid to serve as the team's backup goaltender on Saturday in Boston, as Cory Schneider was out with a lower-body injury.

Devils Recall Kinkaid From AHL Albany

News: Keith Kinkaid was recalled from AHL Albany on Saturday, Rich Chere of the Newark Star-Ledger reports.
Analysis: For reasons not yet disclosed, Cory Schneider is not available on Saturday so Keith Kinkaid is needed to back up Martin Brodeur. How long he stays will obviously depend on whatever is wrong with Schneider, so stay tuned for more.

Devils' Kinkaid Starting Season In AHL

News: Keith Kinkaid will begin the season in the AHL, according to the Bergen Record's Tom Gulitti reports.
Analysis: Keith Kinkaid's ticket was punched for the AHL since the Devils acquired Cory Schneider on draft day. Kinkaid is one of several young netminders in the New Jersey system who could back up Schneider in the coming seasons.

Devils Re-Sign Kinkaid

News: Keith Kinkaid signed with New Jersey on Friday, the Bergen Record reports.
Analysis: Keith Kinkaid played admirably in his one NHL appearance last year, posting a save percentage of .923, but he's unlikely to be more than emergency depth for the Devils.

Devils' Kinkaid Assigned to AHL

News: Keith Kinkaid has been assigned to AHL Albany, Tom Gulitti of the Bergen Record reports.
Analysis: Keith Kinkaid served as Martin Broduer's backup while Johan Hedberg was sidelined with a groin injury. With Hedberg skating on his own both Saturday and again Monday, he appears healthy enough to back up Broduer, leaving Kinkaid as the odd man out.

Devils Recall Kinkaid

News: The Devils have recalled Keith Kinkaid from AHL Albany, the Record's Tom Gulitti reports.
Analysis: Keith Kinkaid will be on hand to serve as Martin Brodeur's backup, for at least Wednesday's game against the Bruins, with Johan Hedberg dealing with some soreness.

Devils Send Kinkaid To AHL

News: The Devils have assigned Keith Kinkaid to AHL Albany, the Bergen Record's Tom Gulitti reports.
Analysis: To replace Keith Kinkaid in their goaltending mix, at least for now, the Devils have recalled Jeff Frazee.

Devils' Kinkaid Debuts In Relief

News: Keith Kinkaid made his first NHL appearance Tuesday, replacing Johan Hedberg with the Devils down 3-0 in what turned out to be a 5-2 loss to the Lightning. He stopped 12 of 13 shots.
Analysis: Keith Kinkaid hasn't exactly been impenetrable for AHL Albany, as he's got a .905 save mark there -- not much different from the .904 he put up last year. The undrafted netminder isn't a high-upside prospect, but there seems to be a reasonable chance he'll start Thursday if Martin Brodeur isn't ready then.

Devils Could Use Kinkaid Tuesday

News: With Martin Brodeur (back) ruled out for Tuesday against Tampa Bay, there is a possibility that Keith Kinkaid could make his first NHL start, according to the Bergen Record's Tom Gulitti. Devils coach Peter DeBoer will decide on Tuesday if Kinkaid or Johan Hedberg will start.
Analysis: The Devils do not have a morning skate on Tuesday after getting in late from Toronto on Monday. Hedberg has been at the helm during the team's recent five-game losing streak. Keith Kinkaid was recalled from AHL Albany last week to serve as the team's backup, but the Devils have five games this week and there's no word if Martin Brodeur will be back for Thursday. Should Kinkaid get the start, it will be against Steven Stamkos and Tampa Bay on Tuesday, hardly an ideal matchup. Whoever starts, he'll be a low-end option Tuesday.

New Jersey To Use Kinkaid This Week?

News: The Devils have not ruled out Keith Kinkaid's teammate Martin Brodeur (back) for Tuesday's game against Tampa Bay, the Bergen Record's Tom Gulitti reports. The Devils have five games this week.
Analysis: The Devils are uncertain if Brodeur will be back with the team on Tuesday as he has already been ruled out for Monday's game with Toronto. If Brodeur's back is still nagging him, the Devils have five games this week including two sets of back-to-back games, so Keith Kinkaid could see his first NHL start if Brodeur is not ready to go.

News: The Devils have recalled Keith Kinkaid from AHL Albany, the Bergen Record's Tom Gulitti reports.
Analysis: Keith Kinkaid gets the call for now, with Martin Brodeur dealing with a sore back and day-to-day to as Thursday's game against the Jets approaches.
