Panthers' Olsen Is Plus-2 In Win

News: Dylan Olsen recorded a plus-2 rating in Tuesday night's 3-2 victory over the Senators.
Analysis: Dylan Olsen saw a healthy 15:51 minutes of action Tuesday night and was on the ice for both of the Cats' goals. However, the 23-year-old defenseman has not registered a point in the past 12 games and his early season hot-streak appears to have been a mirage.

Panthers Recall Olsen

News: Dylan Olsen was recalled from AHL San Antonio on Thursday, George Richards of the Miami Herald reports.
Analysis: The Panthers sent the young defenseman to the AHL to get further playing time while the parent club was off during the Olympics. With the Panthers likely out of playoff contention at this point, expect the team to give Dylan Olsen the opportunity to play regularly over the final 24 games.

Panthers Reassign Olsen

News: Dylan Olsen has been reassigned to AHL San Antonio while the NHL breaks for the Winter Olympics.
Analysis: Dylan Olsen made a big impression for the Panthers in December with an eight-point month, but after a stint on IR in January, he struggled to find his way into the lineup thereafter. He did manage to suit up for the Panthers' final game before the break, supplying an assist and eight hits Friday against the Hurricanes. He'll look to parlay that strong performance into further playing time once the Panthers resume play Feb. 27 vs. the Capitals.

Panthers' Olsen Will Play Sunday

News: Dylan Olsen will play Sunday against the Red Wings, Harvey Fialkov of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Analysis: As expected, Dylan Olsen will return to action against Detroit after being activated from IR earlier in the day. The 23-year-old put up three goals and six assists in 17 games before going down with the upper-body injury.

Panthers' Olsen Activated From IR

News: Dylan Olsen (upper body) was activated from injured reserve Sunday, George Richards of the Miami Herald reports.
Analysis: Dylan Olsen will presumably return to game action Sunday against Detroit, after missing close to four weeks with the upper-body injury. The 23-year-old has chipped in three goals and six helpers with a plus-4 rating in his first 17 games of the season. He may be eased back into the rotation slowly due to the extended absence.

Panthers' Olsen Placed On IR

News: Dylan Olsen was placed on injured reserve by the Panthers on Friday with an upper-body injury retroactive to Dec. 31.
Analysis: Dylan Olsen has played in 17 games for the Panthers this season and he has nine points on three goals and six assists. He was placed retroactively on IR to Dec. 31, so he will be eligible for activation Tuesday if he is ready, but no timetable for his return has been announced.

Florida's Olsen Cooling Off

News: Dylan Olsen has one assist in the last six games after posting seven points over six games earlier in December.
Analysis: Dylan Olsen is simply regressing back to the mean after a flash of production. He's been quiet in his brief NHL career, but he hadn't seen much power-play time, a huge indicator for defensemen scoring even on the (at times) toothless Panthers.

Panthers' Olsen Tallies Another Assist

News: Dylan Olsen tallied an assist on the Panthers' opening goal in Tuesday night's 3-1 victory over Toronto.
Analysis: Dylan Olsen has been on fire as of late, recording seven points in his last seven games. This kind of production is likely unsustainable given Olsen's track record; however, deep leaguers should not hesitate in riding the hot hand.

Olsen Keeps Scoring For Florida

News: Dylan Olsen notched his third goal of the season in Friday's win over Washington, giving him seven points through nine games.
Analysis: Dylan Olsen had just one assist in 28 games with Chicago last season but has been piling up points since his arrival in Sunrise. The odds of this pace continuing are slim, but he's likely to keep seeing scoring chances. Olsen might be a great story, but there's not much of a track record of offensive production to take the plunge on him.

Panthers' Olsen Notches First NHL Goal

News: Dylan Olsen scored the first goal of his career, added an assist and went plus-2 in Thursday's win over the Jets.
Analysis: With three points in five games since his recall, Dylan Olsen's shown some fantasy utility, and he has pedigree as a former first-round pick (28th overall in 2009 by the Blackhawks). That said, he's never flashed a whole lot of offensive upside; Olsen's calling card is the usage of his 6-2, 214-pound frame to clear the crease of opposing attackers.

Olsen To Make Panthers Debut

News: Dylan Olsen will make his debut for the Panthers on Thursday against the Flyers, Harvey Fialkov of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Analysis: Dylan Olsen was recently called up on Sunday and will take the place of Mike Mottau in the Panthers' lineup. He has nine points in 21 games in the AHL this season, but is merely a stopgap option for the Panthers at this point in time.

Panthers Calling Up Olsen

News: Dylan Olsen will be called up from AHL San Antonio on Sunday, Harvey Fialkov of the Sun Sentinel reports.
Analysis: With Mike Weaver headed to IR, the Panthers are in need of some depth at the blue line. Dylan Olsen, acquired from the Blackhawks last week, hasn't seen much work at the NHL level recently, but should be an acceptable stopgap for the time being. With Weaver not expected to be out long, this could be a very short stay for Olsen.

Olsen Traded From Blackhawks To Panthers

News: Dylan Olsen and Jimmy Hayes were traded from the Blackhawks to the Panthers on Thursday in exchange for Kris Versteeg, the Chicago Sun-Times' Mark Lazerus reports.
Analysis: The 28th overall pick in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Dylan Olsen hasn't made an NHL appearance since the 2011-12 season. He's never been a high-scoring defenseman, but should bolster the Panthers' organizational depth.
