Ducks' Rakell Scores First Career Playoff OT Goal

News: Rickard Rakell won the game for his Ducks off a deflection in overtime on Monday in Winnipeg.
Analysis: No doubt the biggest moment of the youngster's NHL career thus far, as he was able to secure a commanding 3-0 series lead for his squad. This was only Rickard Rakell's second career goal in the post-season, his first coming in last season's series with the Stars.

Ducks' Rakell Will Center Top Line Wednesday

News: Rickard Rakell will center the Ducks' top line Wednesday night, Lance Pugmire of the LA Times reports.
Analysis: Rickard Rakell will be bumped up to the top group for the second game in a row with Ryan Getzlaf getting more rest. Rakell lit the lamp for the ninth time this season in his last appearance with the first unit Friday.

Ducks' Rakell Shines In Unexpected Promotion

News: Rickard Rakell scored his ninth goal of the season in Friday's loss to Colorado.
Analysis: Rickard Rakell was bumped up to play center on the top line with Corey Perry and Jiri Sekac after Ryan Getzlaf (healthy) was unexpectedly given the night off. If Rakell is able to tally once more in the final two games on the team's schedule, he would be the 10th Duck to have double-digit goals.

Ducks' Rakell Opens Scoring

News: Rickard Rakell tallied at 8:23 of the first period to put his team on the board in their win Saturday over the Islanders.
Analysis: Rickard Rakell now has four points in his last five games -- one of his strongest such stretches of the season. Rakell has performed nicely in his first full season in the NHL, recording 30 points thus far.

Ducks' Rakell Records Multi-Point Game

News: Rickard Rakell scored a goal and an assist Friday in a win over the Avalanche.
Analysis: The points broke a five game drought where Rickard Rakell failed to hit the scoresheet. Rakell now as 28 points on the season, not the kind of numbers you want to see if you were expecting him to be a regular fantasy contributor this season.

Ducks' Rakell Ends Goal Drought

News: Rickard Rakell ended a 15-game goalless skid with a second-period tally in Wednesday's win over the Habs.
Analysis: He's currently playing on the Ducks' third line with Emerson Etem and new acquisition Jiri Sekac. The trio were the bottom three Ducks in terms of ice time Wednesday night, so don't expect their scoring to greatly improve while their opportunities remain so limited.

Ducks' Rakell Captures Assist In Win

News: Rickard Rakell assisted on Emerson Etem's third-period goal in Friday's 4-2 victory over the Kings.
Analysis: Rickard Rakell has gathered assists in four of his last six games, but will finish February without any goals on his stat line. The Ducks' third-line center has five goals and 19 assists over 52 games this season, putting him just a hair below a half-point-per-game scoring pace.

Rakell Contributes Two Helpers For Ducks

News: Rickard Rakell helped out on the second and third goals of Thursday's 5-2 win over the Predators. He finished the evening plus-2.
Analysis: Rickard Rakell has quietly been providing the Ducks with impressively consistent offense over the last 10 games, as he's collected 11 points and gone plus-7 in that span. Terrific work by the 2011 first-rounder (30th overall) -- and he's done it despite exceeding 15 minutes of ice time just once in that span.

Ducks' Rakell Picks Up Two Points

News: Rickard Rakell scored a goal and picked up a power-play assist in Tuesday's win over the Canucks.
Analysis: With 15:19 of ice time, he skated more than he had in any of the last 10 games, and along with that came his highest shot total (four) since Dec. 22. The former first-round pick has noteworthy offensive upside, and he seems to be realizing it in fits and starts now. He's becoming fantasy-relevant in deeper formats.

Rakell's Four Points Boost Ducks

News: Rickard Rakell scored in the shootout, tallied a power-play goal and even-strength goal in regulation, and added two assists for a four-point night Sunday against Winnipeg.
Analysis: A monster outing from Rickard Rakell, who racked up the points despite logging just 14:05 of ice time. The 21-year-old now has three goals and 12 points in 32 games on the season. Skating on a struggling third line with Jakob Silfverberg and Andrew Cogliano, we need to see some more consistency from Rakell before we can recommend him in fantasy leagues. He had 37 points in 46 games with NHL Norfolk last season, though, so he's one to keep an eye on.

Ducks Recall Rakell From AHL Norfolk

News: Rickard Rakell was recalled from AHL Norfolk on Saturday.
Analysis: Rickard Rakell will provide the Ducks with forward depth while Corey Perry nurses a knee injury. He'll take the roster spot of Mat Clark, who was reassigned to Norfolk in a corresponding move.

Ducks Reassign Rakell

News: Rickard Rakell was reassigned to AHL Norfolk on Tuesday.
Analysis: Rickard Rakell had been a healthy scratch for the Ducks in three of their last four games, so the move back to the minors will allow him to pick up some ice time. He had three points in 17 games.

Ducks' Rakell Out Of Lineup Saturday

News: Rickard Rakell will be out of the lineup Saturday against the Red Wings, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
Analysis: The Ducks never seemed to declare a victor in the job battle between Rickard Rakell and William Karlsson for the team's third-line center role, so Rakell will give way to Karlsson on Saturday as coach Bruce Boudreau aims to better assess the competition. Rakell was held without a point in Thursday's 6-4 loss to the Penguins, finishing the game with a minus-1 rating and a lone shot on goal in his 12:36 of ice time.

Ducks' Rakell Battling For No. 3 Center Gig

News: Rickard Rakell is viewed as the favorite to claim the Ducks' No. 3 center job before training camp ends, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
Analysis: The 21-year-old Rickard Rakell is battling another young Swede (William Karlsson) for those duties, but seems to have the inside track, thanks to the 18 games he logged with the Ducks last season. With Saku Koivu announcing his retirement in the offseason, Rakell prepared for an appointment to the third line by adding 10 pounds of muscle in the offseason. He's adapted well to the added responsibility thus far in training camp, but the strong play of Karlsson has kept the competition between the two centers closer than what was initially thought. If Rakell is able to stave off Rakell and win the gig, the Ducks' quality depth on the wing could potentially aid him to a 30-point season.

Ducks' Rakell A Healthy Scratch For Game 5

News: Rickard Rakell will be a healthy scratch for Monday's Game 5 as Mathieu Perreault (lower body) rejoins the lineup, TSN's Mark Masters reports.
Analysis: Rickard Rakell logged just 8:42 of ice time in Game 4, after being scratched for the first three games of the series. Another injury could free up a spot for the 21-year-old, but there's a chance we don't see him again this postseason.

Ducks' Rakell Playing Saturday

News: With Mathieu Perrieault sidelined by a lower-body injury, Rickard Rakell will join the lineup for Saturday's Game 4 against the Kings, TSN's Mark Masters reports.
Analysis: Rickard Rakell, a former first-round draft pick, tallied just four points in 18 NHL games this season. He did, however, pick up a goal and an assist in three appearances during the Ducks' first-round series against the Stars.

Ducks' Rakell Recalled Saturday

News: Rickard Rakell has been recalled from AHL Norfolk, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
Analysis: Rickard Rakell is a healthy scratch for Saturday's Game 1, but he could perhaps slot into the lineup at some point during the Ducks' second-round series against the Kings. The 20-year-old former first-round draft pick (2011) tallied 37 points in 46 AHL games this season, but managed just four points (all assists) in 18 NHL appearances.

Ducks Send Rakell To AHL

News: The Ducks have sent Rickard Rakell to AHL Norfolk, the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Rickard Rakell, who has two points in three playoff games to date, is a candidate for recall when the Ducks are looking for some added depth up front, but his demotion could indicate that Mathieu Perreault will be available for Saturday's Game 1 against the Kings.

Rakell Lights Lamp As Ducks Regain Momentum

News: Rickard Rakell scored a goal midway through the first period of a 6-2 defeat of the Stars in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup playoffs on Friday.
Analysis: Friday's goal was the first of Rickard Rakell's postseason career. However, the fact that he has already scored a goal having played in only two playoff games this year, significantly increases the chances that Rakell will see more ice time as the Ducks' Stanley Cup run moves on.

Ducks Recall Rakell

News: Rickard Rakell was recalled from AHL Norfolk on Thursday, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
Analysis: Rickard Rakell will likely be on hand to cover for Nick Bonino, who has a lower-body injury and won't play Thursday. Expect to see Rakell slot in as the fourth-line center.

Ducks Demote Rakell

News: Rickard Rakell was reassigned to AHL Norfolk on Wednesday, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
Analysis: With Mathieu Perreault (forearm) returning from injured reserve for Wednesday's game vs. the Flames, Rickard Rakell will head back to the minors to create roster space. Rakell appeared in nine games during his time with the Ducks, logging one point and two penalty minutes.

Ducks Bring Up Rakell

News: Rickard Rakell was recalled from AHL Norfolk on Thursday.
Analysis: The 20-year-old made a minimal impact with the Ducks in seven games earlier this season, but he's been highly productive for Norfolk, notching 14 goals and 23 assists over 43 contests. He'll likely play Friday in the event Teemu Selanne (flu) is not ready to play.

Ducks Send Rakell To AHL

News: The Ducks assigned Rickard Rakell to AHL Norfolk on Monday, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
Analysis: Rickard Rakell has appeared in seven games with the Ducks, but he will head back to Norfolk with Saku Koivu (head) nearing a return. As a 2011 first-round pick, expect Rakell to be among the top options next time the Ducks need to summon a forward from the minors.

Rakell Registers Assist In Ducks' Victory

News: Rickard Rakell picked up an assist during the second period of a 6-2 win over the Sabres on Friday.
Analysis: Friday's assist is the first NHL point for the 20-year-old from Sweden. This could be a positive sign for Rickard Rakell's future.

Ducks' Rakell Recalled From AHL

News: Rickard Rakell was recalled from AHL Norfolk on Sunday.
Analysis: Rickard Rakell will be up for his second stint with the Ducks this week, though his stay figures to be a short one this time as well. The team likely just wants some security wing depth for Monday's game, with several players banged up.
