Blackhawks' Saad Ends Pointless Skid

News: Brandon Saad picked up an assist in Tuesday's loss to the Jets.
Analysis: The assist marked Brandon Saad's first point in three games and just his third over the last eight contests. Thanks to a strong November, Saad is still on pace to surpass last season's total of 47 points, but his lack of offense of late certainly isn't an encouraging development.

Hawks' Saad Remains Hot Saturday

News: Brandon Saad remained hot Saturday, extending his point streak to four games with a goal and an assist in a win over the Predators.
Analysis: Brandon Saad continues to thrive on the top line with Jonathan Toews and Marian Hossa, recording three goals, five points, and a plus-4 rating in his last four games. After a somewhat inconsistent start, Saad has found his groove, recording at least one point in all but six of his last 17 games. The 20-year-old is on track for a 20-goal, 60-point season and is worth a look right now, especially considering the red-hot Hawks have won six straight games.

'Hawks Saad Nets Game-Winner In Clutch Fashion

News: Brandon Saad scored the game-winning goal with 27 seconds left in regulation Friday against Montreal.
Analysis: Brandon Saad is now riding a three-game point streak, compiling a goal, two assists, and a plus-2 rating in that span. Although he has been inconsistent at times, Saad has still delivered five goals and 17 points in 26 games on the season. With the Blackhawks having won eight of their last nine contests, picking up a top-six forward like Saad might not be a bad idea.

Hawks' Saad Meshes With Toews In Win

News: Brandon Saad picked up two assists and was a plus-3 in Saturday's win over the Oilers.
Analysis: The top line of Brandon Saad, Jonathan Toews, and Marian Hossa was electric Saturday, combining for eight points in the win. After going through a brief rough patch, Saad has been consistently producing of late, recording two goals and eight points in his last 10 games. While his three goals on the season are somewhat disappointing, Saad is still on pace for almost 60 points and will start scoring more if he continues playing with Toews. A career year is in store for the rising 22-year-old.

Hawks' Saad Breaks Scoring Drought Friday

News: Brandon Saad scored in the first period of Friday's 3-2 loss to the Caps, his first goal in nine games.
Analysis: This is a big chance for Brandon Saad as he is being targeted by the Hawks to pick up some of the scoring slack with Patrick Sharp out of the lineup with a knee injury for the next few weeks. If he plays like he did Friday night for the rest of the season, he should easily top last season's 19 goals and 28 assists in 78 games. He has two goals and seven assists in the first 13 games so far in the 2014-15 season. Against Sunday night's opponent, San Jose, he has some success, with three goals and two assists in six games.

Saad Scores First For 'Hawks

News: Brandon Saad opened the scoring Tuesday against the Flyers with his first goal of the year, then added an assist on Chicago's third goal in a 2:06 span.
Analysis: While Brandon Saad is off to a point-per-game start this year with five in five, all of his points have come in two games while he's gone scoreless in the other three. He's highly talented, but he'll need to show more consistency to maintain anything resembling this scoring rate.

Hawks' Saad Dishes Out Three Assists In Win

News: Brandon Saad dished out three assists in Saturday's win over Buffalo.
Analysis: Brandon Saad also finished the night with four shots on goal and a plus-2 rating. With the way he has shown chemistry alongside Patrick Kane and Andrew Shaw on the second line, Saad could easily surpass the career-high 19 goals and 47 points he recorded in 2013-14. At only 21 years of age, the best is yet to come for this rising stud.

Hawks' Saad Looking To Improve In 2014-15

News: Brandon Saad finished the preseason with no goals and two assists in four games played.
Analysis: The 21-year-old winger had a successful 2013-14 campaign, finishing with 19 goals and 28 assists. Brandon Saad is poised to surpass those totals this season while being paired on a line with Andrew Shaw and Patrick Kane. And though it still remains to be determined, he figures to see consistent usage on Chicago's power play, after compiling nine points on the man-advantage a season earlier.

Impressive Postseason Ends For Blackhawks' Saad

News: Brandon Saad registered a goal and an assist in a losing effort in Sunday's Game 7 against the Kings.
Analysis: Though the Blackhawks weren't able to repeat as NHL champions, the team has to feel good about the 21-year-old Brandon Saad's emergence as a core offensive player. With 16 points (six goals, 10 assists) in the postseason, Saad finished behind only Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews in scoring for the Blackhawks, while his plus-10 rating ranked tops on the team. He should be ready to assume a more pivotal scoring role for the Blackhawks during the 2014-15 regular season.

Saad Powers Blackhawks To Game 5 Victory

News: Brandon Saad registered a goal, two assists and finished with a plus-4 rating in Wednesday's Game 5 win over the Kings.
Analysis: The trio of Brandon Saad, Andrew Shaw and Patrick Kane proved bothersome to the Kings throughout the contest, with the line combining for nine points and 15 shots on goal. Saad's second assist was the game's most vital, as he scanned the middle of the ice and found an open Michal Handzus, who potted the game-winning goal in double overtime. With five goals, eight assists and a plus-9 rating over 17 postseason games, the 21-year-old Saad has been invaluable for the Blackhawks in their pursuit of a second straight Stanley Cup.

Saad Delivers Two Points For Blackhawks In Game 1

News: Brandon Saad had a goal and an assist in Sunday's Game 1 victory over the Kings.
Analysis: Brandon Saad kicked off the game's scoring six minutes in, finishing off a power-play opportunity for his third goal of the postseason. The 21-year-old will need to show he can be a consistent offensive force throughout a series; he was held pointless in the final three games of the first round against the Blues and the final four games of the second-round series with the Wild.

Two Helpers For Hawks' Saad

News: Brandon Saad picked up two assists in Saturday's loss to the Predators. They are the first points he has scored in three games since his recent healthy scratch.
Analysis: He has 47 points on the season, but had been in a serious slump before the benching. Hopefully this bounce-back is a signal he's more focused and ready for the postseason.

News: Brandon Saad will return to the Chicago lineup Wednesday against Montreal, Mark Lazerus of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Analysis: Brandon Saad, who was a healthy scratch Sunday against the Blues, will check back into the Hawks' lineup with 45 points in 75 contests overall, but just one helper over his last nine outings.

News: Brandon Saad will be a healthy scratch Sunday against the Blues, Mark Lazerus of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Hawks' Saad (Upper Body) Out Friday Night

News: Brandon Saad (upper body) will not play Friday night against the Canes, CSN Chicago reports.
Analysis: Brandon Saad has already missed two consecutive games, and Friday night will make it a third. He's been a productive goal-scorer for the Hawks this season, so the team certainly misses his presence, despite scoring seven combined goals in the past two games without him.

Hawks' Saad To Sit Out Wednesday

News: Brandon Saad (upper body) will miss Wednesday's game vs. the Blues, ESPN Chicago reports.
Analysis: Brandon Saad entered morning skate questionable to play Wednesday, but coach Joel Quenneville ultimately decided the best course of action was to allow the forward to rest. Kris Versteeg will take his place as the left wing on the top line.

Hawks' Saad Could Play Wednesday

News: Coach Joel Quenneville indicated Tuesday that it's possible Brandon Saad (upper body) could play Wednesday against the Blues.
Analysis: Brandon Saad won't play Tuesday against the Flyers, but this nugget would appear to confirm that Saad is in the day-to-day category for the 'Hawks.

Blackhawks' Saad To Miss Tuesday's Game

News: Brandon Saad (upper body) will not play Tuesday vs. the Flyers, Mark Lazerus of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Analysis: The Blackhawks haven't offered much of a timetable for Brandon Saad beyond Tuesday's game, but coach Joel Quenneville previously indicated the injury wasn't overly serious. Expect the team to update Saad's status on a game-by-game basis unless he fails to make much progress in his recovery from the injury.

Hawks' Saad (Upper Body) Leaves Sunday's Game

News: Brandon Saad left Sunday's game against the Red Wings and did not return in what is being called an upper-body injury, WGN-AM Radio in Chicago reports.
Analysis: There will be more known on Monday on how long Brandon Saad will be out. After the game Hawks' coach Joel Quenneville said he did not think it was serious. Saad only skated for a little more than six minutes against the Red Wings and did not return for the third period. The Blackhawks though travel to Philadelphia on Tuesday so it will be known probably Monday on whether he will be traveling. Saad has had a strong sophomore season with 19 goals and 25 assists in 67 games. Ironically with Marian Hossa back on Sunday after an upper-body injury, Saad goes out with an upper-body injury.

Hawks' Saad Adds Goal Wednesday

News: Brandon Saad netted a goal in Wednesday's 3-2 loss to the Avalanche.
Analysis: The winger is proving to be a force in his second full season with the Hawks, and has now found the score sheet in four of his last five games. His hot streak may be short lived, though, as he's expected to be dropped back down to a lower line when Marian Hossa returns from an upper body injury.

Blackhawks' Saad To Get Shot On Top Line

News: Coach Joel Quenneville said that Brandon Saad will get the first opportunity to replace Marian Hossa (upper body) on the top line, Tracey Myers of CSN Chicago reports.
Analysis: With 41 points in 62 games, Brandon Saad has certainly been productive as a secondary scorer for the Blackhawks, but he could soon bolster those numbers even more skating alongside Patrick Sharp and Jonathan Toews. He's worth a speculative pickup in shallow or mid-sized leagues if he's still available on the waiver wire.

Hawks' Saad Could Move To Second Line Friday

News: Brandon Saad could replace Patrick Kane, who left the team to attend his grandfather's funeral, on the second line on Friday night against the Coyotes, Chicago Tribune reports.
Analysis: Brandon Saad practiced on the second line alongside Michal Handzus and Kris Versteeg in Thursday's skate. "We probably can move Saad up a little bit, see what he does in that situation," said Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville after practice Thursday. "Whether he gets a little bit more ice time or not, we'll see." Saad, who was named to the All-Rookie Team last season, has developed nicely with 18 goals and 22 assists in 59 games.
