Canucks' Stanton No Longer On IR

News: Ryan Stanton (lower body) is no longer listed on the Canucks' injured reserve list.
Analysis: Though it sounds like Ryan Stanton will be an option for coach Willie Desjardins on Saturday, there's no certainly that he'll displace any of the current six defensemen in the Vancouver lineup. Stanton, who has been limited to three games due to the injury, registered 16 points while averaging 14:43 of ice time over 64 contests last season.

Canucks' Stanton Ruled Out Thursday

News: Ryan Stanton (lower body) will not play Thursday against the Canadiens, Jason Botchford of the Vancouver Province reports.
Analysis: It sounded like Ryan Stanton would have a shot at returning Thursday after coach Willie Desjardins proclaimed him "very close" earlier in the week, but the blueliner will instead sit for yet another game. He'll turn his sights toward returning over the weekend for either or both of the Canucks' back-to-back games against the Oilers and Predators.

Canucks' Stanton Closing In On Return

News: Coach Willie Desjardins said Tuesday that Ryan Stanton (lower body) is "really close" to a return.
Analysis: Ryan Stanton looks like he'll be held out of Tuesday's tilt with the Hurricanes, but after taking part in the team's morning skate, it seems like he could be a more realistic option for Thursday's showdown with the Habs. He's expected to assume a regular role on defense for Vancouver once he's activated from IR.

Canucks' Stanton (Lower Body) Practices Sunday

News: Ryan Stanton (lower body) was on the ice for morning skate Sunday.
Analysis: Ryan Stanton is in the process of returning from a lower body injury that sent him to injured reserve retroactive to Oct. 17. He could return any day, and the fact that he participated in morning indicates that he may be available for Sunday night's game against the Capitals.

Canucks' Stanton Moved To IR

News: Ryan Stanton (lower body) has been placed on injured reserve.
Analysis: The injury will be retroactive to Oct. 17, keeping Ryan Stanton out for at least the next three games. Frank Corrado was recalled from AHL Utica over the weekend to replenish Vancouver's depth on defense.

Canucks Rule Stanton Out Saturday

News: Ryan Stanton (lower body) won't play Saturday against the Lightning, Ben Kuzma of the Vancouver Province reports.
Analysis: Ryan Stanton suffered the injury while blocking a shot Friday against the Oilers and is considered day-to-day. Yannick Weber will replace him in Saturday's contest.

Canucks' Stanton Records Five Shots In Win

News: Ryan Stanton was credited with a game-high five shots on goal in Wednesday's win over the Flames.
Analysis: Ryan Stanton finished the game with a plus-2 rating in 17:34 of ice time. The 25-year-old isn't expected to turn into a high-end offensive contributor, but he did manage 16 points in just 64 games last season. His value is limited though due to the fact he is on the team's third defensive pairing and sees little to no power-play time.

Canucks' Stanton Impresses In Preseason Debut

News: Ryan Stanton was one of the best players in Thursday's preseason win over Calgary, picking up an assist in 18:43 of ice time.
Analysis: Ryan Stanton was a pleasant surprise with the Canucks in 2013-2014, tallying 16 points in 64 games, to go with a plus-5 rating. The 25-year-old won't put up big offensive numbers, but he is a very solid blueliner that can log decent minutes. He is off to a strong start in the preseason, as he tries to inch his way into the fifth or sixth spot on Vancouver's blueline in 2014-2015.

Canucks' Stanton Enters Lineup Wednesday

News: Ryan Stanton (undisclosed) will return to the lineup Wednesday, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: Coach John Tortorella previously indicated that Ryan Stanton was "day-to-day" prior to Monday's game, but it was never revealed what might have been ailing him. In any event, the confirmation on his return to the Canucks lineup means that the few fantasy owners relying on him can feel comfortable using him Wednesday.

Canucks' Stanton Day-To-Day With Injury

News: Ryan Stanton missed Monday's game against the Islanders with an undisclosed injury.
Analysis: Ryan Stanton was out of the lineup the previous two games as a presumptive healthy scratch, but coach John Tortorella disclosed that he was "day-to-day" with an injury. The nature of his ailment remains unclear, as does when he might return to the lineup.

Canucks' Stanton A Late Scratch

News: Ryan Stanton will not play Thursday against Dallas, the Canucks' official Twitter account reports.
Analysis: Ryan Stanton will be replaced by Yannick Weber in defense for Thursday night's game.

Canucks' Stanton Raking In The Assists

News: Ryan Stanton assisted on the Canucks' lone goal in Tuesday's 3-1 loss to the Bruins.
Analysis: The Canucks' offense has been on life support during their five-game losing streak, but that's no fault of Ryan Stanton, who has picked up a helper in four of those five games. He's also been quite involved on the defensive end, gathering 11 hits and 11 blocks during that time.

Canucks Activate Stanton

News: Ryan Stanton (ankle) was activated from injured reserve Thursday, Ben Kuzma of the Vancouver Province reports.
Analysis: Ryan Stanton will play in Thursday's game against the Predators, taking Yannick Weber's spot on the pairing with Alexander Edler. The defenseman had 11 points in 36 games before landing on IR.

Canucks' Stanton Resumes Practicing

News: Ryan Stanton (ankle) was back practicing with the team Monday morning.
Analysis: The Canucks have no definitive timetable for Ryan Stanton's return, but the fact that he was back on the ice at least shows that he's making progress from the ankle injury. Look for him to increase his involvement in the coming days, with the team likely to provide updates on his status as he does so.

Canucks' Stanton Placed On IR

News: Coach John Tortorella said Ryan Stanton would miss multiple weeks with an ankle injury, Brad Ziemer of the Vancouver Sun reports.
Analysis: He was moved to injured reserve to free up roster space. Ryan Stanton, who ranks fourth among Canucks defensemen with 11 points, suffered the injury Tuesday against the Wild after falling awkwardly when he was pushed into the boards.

Canucks' Stanton Sent To Vancouver For Evaluation

News: Ryan Stanton has been sent back to Vancouver to be evaluated for an injury he suffered during the second period of Tuesday's game.
Analysis: Minnesota's Zenon Konopka shoved Ryan Stanton into the boards and he fell awkwardly onto the ice, seemingly twisting his left ankle in the process. The injury leaves the Canucks somewhat thin along the blue line ahead of Thursday's tilt against Dallas, as Alexander Edler (knee) is also out.

Vancouver's Stanton Snags Three Assists

News: Ryan Stanton assisted on three of Vancouver's six goals in Friday's win over Columbus, giving him 10 points on the season.
Analysis: Ryan Stanton has quietly put together 10 points this season on a modest 13:55 of ice time per game. However, Stanton doesn't see time on the power play and has no special teams points. The Canucks have several puck movers in Alexander Edler, Jason Garrison and Kevin Bieksa, likely pushing Stanton out of scoring opportunities.

Canucks' Stanton Picks Up Helper

News: Ryan Stanton collected his fifth assist of the season in a 2-1 loss to Detroit on Wednesday.
Analysis: Ryan Stanton now has six points in 15 games this season and is averaging 14:10 of ice time per game. He is showing he has offensive skills and could be worth picking up in some deeper leagues. That said, in three seasons of 70-plus games at the AHL level, the undrafted blueliner never cleared 25 points, and with the light minutes he's playing, this level of production is not terribly likely to continue.

Canucks' Stanton Scores First NHL Goal

News: Ryan Stanton scored his first career NHL goal in a 3-0 win over the Sabres on Thursday.
Analysis: Ryan Stanton has been a pleasant surprise this season and now has a goal and three assists through his first eight games. Even though the stats are convincing, it's hard to put your faith in a guy who is on the third defensive pairing and isn't seeing any power-play time.

Canucks' Stanton Collects Third Assist of Season

News: Ryan Stanton picked up his third assist of the season in a 4-1 loss to the Sharks on Tuesday.
Analysis: Ryan Stanton saw 15:17 of ice time Thursday and has now collected three points -- all assists -- over his first five games. He is off to a surprisingly decent start with Vancouver after recently being claimed off waivers from the Hawks. It's unlikely he continues this rate of production though as he is on the third defensive pairing and sees no power-play time. He is still only 24 years of age and may be worth something in fantasy hockey one day.

Stanton Likely To Open On Canucks' Third Pairing

News: Ryan Stanton will likely start the season alongside Chris Tanev on the Canucks' third defensive pairing, TSN's Farhan Lalji reports.
Analysis: Ryan Stanton was recently claimed off waivers by Vancouver and should provide some depth for the Canucks' defense corps. His lack of NHL experience means that you shouldn't expect too much from him yet. The 24-year-old has potential, though, and could provide some fantasy value in the future.

Stanton Claimed Off Waivers By Canucks

News: Ryan Stanton was claimed off waivers by the Canucks from the Blackhawks on Monday, Elliotte Friedman of CBC Sports reports.
Analysis: Ryan Stanton was waived by the Blackhawks on Sunday with the expectation he would clear and head to the AHL. Instead, the Canucks snapped him up off waivers and he'll head northwest to Vancouver. Stanton, who played in his first NHL game with the Blackhawks last season, will provide the Canucks with some organizational depth on defense.

'Hawks Waive Stanton

News: Ryan Stanton was waived Sunday by the Blackhawks and is expected to be sent down to Rockford of the AHL, NBC Chicago reports.
Analysis: Ryan Stanton made it to the last cut, and it was between him and Mike Kostka for the final roster spot. Stanton lost out to Kostka because of experience, he'll surely be back up in Chicago sometime during the season.

Blackhawks Bring Back Stanton

News: Ryan Stanton agreed to a one-year deal with Chicago on Tuesday.
Analysis: Ryan Stanton made his first NHL appearance last year, nabbing two penalty minutes and a plus-1 rating in one game. He has some intrigue as a penalty source (126 PIM in the AHL last season), but he's mostly off the fantasy radar for the time being.

Hawks' Stanton Makes NHL Debut Saturday

News: Ryan Stanton along with a couple of other Blackhawks made their NHL debut on Saturday in the squad's 3-1 loss to the Blues.
Analysis: The 23-year-old defenseman logged a little more than 17 minutes of ice time and also registered his first two-minute penalty. He was on the ice when Ben Smith scored the lone goal for the Hawks. Ryan Stanton had another solid season with Rockford with a 25-point season, 22 of those being assists. He also racked up the penalty minutes with 126 in 73 games. After being named Rockford's top defenseman in 2011-12, Stanton is showing that he should be given a shot soon in the NHL.
